The worst of the worst. Thats what this LA Care Health Plan (or whatever it really is) is about. At first I found a doctor on the list that was accepting new patients. The when the new ID card arrived, I called the number on the card to make an appointment. It turned out all the information provided on the card was wrong. The medical group was wrong and the doctor didnt even exist! LA Care is an prime example of what a FAILED HEALTHCARE system looks like! They have the worst customer care service as well. This organization must be cleaned up or shut down! Its a waste of taxpayers money! LA Care is a Los Angeles county government run organization.

So I have been dealing with a huge mistake with my identity and was suddenly uninsured and at the mercy of social security adm and my health care insurance provider. Covid came next and it’s been 3 years and finally I was able to get all of my problems fixed. Taylor was my customer service rep and she was really truly helpful. I don’t know maybe she could feel how bad this has been on me but she was professional she was authentic and she didn’t waste my time. I was ready to give up and this would be the last attempt to get my health insurance straightened out. I was overjoyed and relieved with her ability to help me. I did cry though! I finally felt my chest lightened and I could breathe again. I feel a little bit of trauma after all I had to go through but I was blessed to get Taylor on the line. Thank you you did make a big difference. I’m grateful.

Its a labrynthine incomprehensible bureaucracy but thats as or more true with all US healthcare. Actually I find them easier to deal with than Kaiser which was always a nightmare even for $300 a month. Also it is FREE for most low income people.Ive never once been asked to foot the bill for a copay or been denied at least the generic version of some medication, it makes a tremendous difference.I just never know what website or phone number to call cause theres like twenty and honestly we need to just have single payer but yeah I get better care for FREE than I did for hundreds a month, and this is especially true with regards to mental health services like psychiatry which are typically not well respected for reimbursement by the for profit insurance leeches (Kaiser is non profit, just terribly organized).

I don’t usually leave reviews but I have had such a horrible experience I felt the need to share. I spent 2 months on the phone with this company when I found out my previous insurance would expire, to make sure I could have continuity of care given an upcoming surgery I had planned, as well as a toddler on my insurance plan. I payed for the highest level - platinum - after discussing my needs with a number of different agents and doing ample research. Despite being assured I was assigned the proper doctors and would have the necessary referrals, none of what I planned for and discussed with agents on the phone went through. When my LA Care insurance started the following month I was assigned to the wrong medical group and doctors. I finally corrected these errors, but it was too late by then, and I was informed that my important surgery would not be approved 2 days ahead of the scheduled date, despite having planned months in advance and spending hours on the phone with various LA Care agents. My surgery has now been postponed another 2 months and I still don’t know if it will be approved or not. If you have any other options, please be careful.

This health plan is terrible. I work in a pediatric office and every time we need help for claims, provider issues or any type of issue, no body there knows anything. After they leave you on hold for over an hour, they provide no help what so ever. All they say is we will send an email to management they will respond in 5 days. Its been 3 weeks and we are still waiting. If they dont care about their PROVIDERS, I can imagine how they are with the members. Please do not enroll in this health plan.

This health insurance company has all the components of a failed operation that is far worse than one you might find in a third world country. The so-called Member Services department is a joke. They are good at wearing you out until you give up. They make all kind of errors and they have all kinds of excuses to cover up their incompetence. They call themselves lacare.org but everything they do is very disorganized! If you value your health and your life, do not let yourself being a member of this horrible health plan. Theyre now known as LA CARELESS!

Failed to provide any information and kept rushing me off the phone saying to call after 4 pm saying they’re open 24 hours when in reality they stop answering after 5. Such a hassle with getting through to them and having them process requests. Horrible experience and a waste of time. If I could avoid them I would but unfortunately I have to deal with them since they work with Kaiser. Bertha R was hella rude on the phone too, like excuse me for trying to get some healthcare for my son 🤷🏻‍♀️

As for member service over the phone, it really depends on which representative you get connected with. Some are impatient, but there are some that are professional and nice enough.However, I am really upset by how some of the LA Care service representatives handle NON-English speaker calls. Although these individuals do not speak English, they are regardless your members who have every right to receive the services that their plan provides and for which they are enrolled.Since LA Care requires that each member call in personally for privacy purposes, these non-English speakers must call in on their own and do their best to request translation services, which I am grateful that LA Care provides. However, I have had multiple, non-English-speaking relatives and acquaintances tell me that they had service representatives HANG UP on their calls while they were trying to do their best to read off their member ID or even before they got a chance to request a translator because the representatives could tell from their stuttering/accent that this was going to be a troublesome call.While I understand that non-English speaker calls take more time and effort, shoving them aside for your convenience is still no way to treat these members. PLEASE at least make the effort to kindly ask them if they would like a translator. These members are aware of their own handicap, so they are familiar with the term “translator/translation,” and they will be grateful.I am writing this review on behalf of non-English speakers who may have had this blatantly rude experience. For family members and friends of such individuals, advise them to request for translation service as soon as a representative picks up by saying something like:“I want (their native language)-speaking.”Tell them not to bother to read off member ID. This will be the quickest way for them to get through and not get disconnected.

I could write a novel when talking about my bad experiences But what I want to talk about here is chiropractic care. It is a right listed in the L.A. care handbook that you can get 2 visits per month w/o an authorization. BUT THIS IS A TOTAL LIE!!!!!!! You cannot get in w/o an authorization and LA care makes it impossibly difficult to get an authorization. I have been trying for 81/2 months!!!! Ive received a total of 5 visits when I should have 17!!! LA CARE YOU HAVE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT COMING YOUR WAY ON BEHALF OF ALL THE PEOPLE YOU DENY CHIROPRACTIC SEVICES TO!!!!!!!!!!!Q!

Some representatives raised their voice at you. I was shocked because I also do work with other case managers from different health insurances but this by far is the worst I’ve ever encountered. Some are impatient and they can’t wait to get off their phone. They rush you. You can not see but u hear the attitude thru the phone. I mean on top of that you can hear all noises in the background kids yelling and playing and I respect that they work at home but pls be very professional and loose the attitudes. It’s a “customer service” Dept.

Extremely difficult to do something as simple as make a payment. They provide you with a number to call and you have to sit through various recordings that you can’t skip before you’re ever able to make a selection to pay by phone. However, once you’ve selected that option you’ll just hear an automated reading of your last payment with no option to pay the next installment. You sit through long winded recordings about how easy paying online is, but I can’t even create an member’s account because my son is a minor, so my only option is this lazily put together pay by phone system.

Used to be good, something happened. Very polite on the phone and seem to care and has been really great insurance, but they dont have it together enough to get my new address changed in my file (I moved). Changed my address with Covered California confirmed on their website and by phone, changed my address on my LA Care website about 3 times, called LA Care on the phone 3 times, I think. Im concerned that if I end up in the hospital or go to the doctor, policy might be void, maybe Ill miss some mail.... Dear LACare, please fix this, my days are really busy with trying to hold on to my job and take care of my daugther 24/7. I dont have time to mess around with this.

You mine as well just head to “L.A County hospital” instead of dealing with these people. Their service is horrible and when you need a emergency referral they don’t give it to you, they have you waiting forever. I’m a “high risk pregnant woman,” in need of a especialist in a certain condition i have. They weren’t able to help me. I was back and forth with them.Then they give you the run around to call your provider and get a referral. Then the doctor says no we don’t do referrals, call your insurance and have them do a referral.To call the insurance “LA care “ and tell me to call my doctor.They are just milking the system for money. I never got help or referral from either places

Great place for breakfast and lunch. One of my very favorite dishes is the Tuna Melt typically served with a side salad. You can also sub fries... even better you can make them garlic fries. So delicious!!! I do wish they had a few more kid specific dishes/menu. We would dine here more frequently if they had a kids menu.

I have received A+ customer service every time I have had to call the L.A. Care Members line with questions. So far, in my 1st month with this insurance, Ive had short wait times, the agents have been helpful, efficient and gone above and beyond to answer questions and resolve issues. I was also able to find in-network UCLA Medical Group doctors. Thank you L.A. Care Team!

The doctors had called us about my mom because she had covid and they told us that we can take her home so she can spend the last few days moments hours with her family but they needed the authorization of LA Care unfortunately nobody could answer the phones or there wasnt a representative that could give an authorization and my mom passed away by herself with nobody around at the hospital you took that last day last hours away from us I hold you guys accountable for not giving us our last moments with my motherThank you

UPDATE: I canceled my health plan on the phone in March because of the double charging. They promised they stopped my plan, but now I still receive their invoice for the ‘plan’ that not ever existing.Worst health insurance plan I’ve ever had! They made me pay for my plan in February 2020 on the phone without any payment confirmation and double charged me online. For this reason, I decided to cancel the health insurance plan from their company and they made this extremely hard for canceling. After being held on the phone 2h+ for every call, 30h+ in total (and still not able to cancel their plan) I feel this whole thing is a totally SCAM and I suggest you to avoid this company for any health insurance plan.

The guy told me they would call me today... no calls. Called today and after the person on the line got sick of me they hung up on me, not once but twice. Cant seem to keep track of their doctors as they keep non existent doctors. Deny coverage of decent long time doctors. Assigns shady locations for GD. Takes forever to approve simple scans. Have to keep calling to get any help and they want their customers to do the work when they screw up which is quite often.

During 8 months after my cancer diagnosis y fought with L .A. Care and I am finally loosing the battle. The doctors are incompetent, they have limited and denied medications to alleviate my suffering and have no support system whatsoever. The members services phone lines are manned by horrendously incompetent people that are quick to hang up on you. In my experience the worst part is the fact that with impunity they advertise flashy programs that either dont exist or impossible to qualify for. With horror I have seen my cancer spread, living alone in squalor, hungry, unable to fight for myself and I have lost all hope. This people failed me and I hope they rot in hell.

This company and its sub-par health plans represent everything that is wrong with the US Health Care System. They have a terrible network of doctors. The referral system they have is broken. It is basically a plan that covers next to nothing. Consumers that buy this plan are basically paying them money so they can be charged more money later down the lines. They also hike up the premiums each year while offering less and less care.

They will mislead you and provide you with incorrect information on each and every single call. If youre thinking of going with LA Care instead of straight Medi-cal go with the straight Medi-cal. No bueno. They have a 3 week wait to see a doctor. Thats always their earliest available. I called urgent care facilities in my area, they dont accept L.A. care. I had no other choice than to go to the ER. I kept this plan because of the pharmacy services at Walgreens, but this plan no longer approves the medications I need.

If you are pregnant, please DO NOT use the LA care transportation via P I Transportation company. Total waste of time & lack of professionalism. I rode for more than an hour for a trip that would take 20-25 minutes after waiting for 35 minutes (do the maths). The driver was rude, making calls, watching videos on the phone. Dropped a passenger, picked up another, got the wrong address, dropped him off, etc. It was like I was invisible. I wish I knew better than putting myself & 7 months pregnancy at risk on bumpy roads with a driver and LACare that doesn’t care!

Excellent customer service, always returned my calls and were always helpful. SAID NO ONE EVER!Paid for a policy that was inactive, customer service team couldnt speak directly to financial department to restore service despite the fact I already paid. Spent two weeks with no insurance. Ended up with a refund however I had to do it through Visa dispute.

They give me the run around with doctors. I need a NEUROLOGIST and they give me a Brain Surgeon for 10 years. Sending me from one doctor to another. When they call me to take a survey we have questions but they wont answer any of them. Also for 10 years I keep signing an authorization for my mother to speak for me, every time my Mother calls to get some help for me they say that there is nothing saying that she can speak for me. So nothing can be done to help me. They wont even pay for a pair of glasses so I can see(I am partiality blind) , they will pay for the eye doctor. No Dental care for adults. Again they will take the xrays but they wont do the work. Where does the name L.A Care come from? There name should be L.A Doesnt Care. I was recently prescribed a shot for my migraine headaches they paid for the medicine but not the needles?P.S.Your so called calling does nothing. You just like making things harder for the citizens not for the people from other countries. Try hiring people who speak English first to take care of us not other languages first. When I call they answer in other languages not English.

If they offer you a case manager, dont be fooled by thinking you will get better care. They do absolutely nothing for you. I have documented the numerous times I have called them and they do not even return calls.Then they will send letters stating that THEY HAVE REACHED OUT TO YOU and you did not respond. I requested a correction to the 3 letters I got almost a month ago and NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. Unbelievable and deceitful!! Making it look like they care about you and are offering you this wonderful service and your turning it down. In my experience just a formality to delay services and a complete waste of time. Its a loose, loose. If you dont except a case manager or if you do.

I pay for L.A. care theough covered California. This insurance company has now denied me twice for medically necessary procedures and tests. I very well may endcup dead because of this companys negligence. I had an at home sleep study that showed fairly severe sleep apnea and LA care denied the split sleep study needed to treat my sleep apnea. I was also denied a much needed uterine ablation because I wasnt hemorrhaging enough for them to approve the procedure. I bled through over 10 pafs,a day for 3 months. Thanks for nothing LA care. My family is prepared to hire a lawyer if I bleed to death while waiting for treatment or die in my sleep from sleep apnea. Thanks LA notcare for charging me $350 a month to not recieve appropriate care. The cruelty of this company knows no bounds.

Their staffed arent trained properly as some knows what they need to do and others dont. I have been with this insurance for 2 years now. And each month i have to pay with 2 different debit cards and each month i get this answer that i can only pay with one credit card one transaction only. I always have to tell whoever took my payment call that i have been paying with two different method payments each month. Then they would put me on hold for a while until they talk to someone about the payment. Now they dont ask for are satisfied with the level of service that you received. I waited for them to ask but never asked. If i can give their customer service a negative Star i would. They don’t have the level of customer service.

Pitiful customer service. I had this plan and could never even get an insurance card, let alone a Dr appointment. They just keep delaying service until you change back to real insurance. Dont waste your time. My plan took effect in Aug 2017 and by Feb 2018, still no way to see a Dr because of their errors and incompetence

Burn up time starting over with approvals... medical conditions get worse...not better.(Went a year with a painful broken bone in my hand...WOULDNT approve a Doctor out of their system.) I just unenrolled!This was by far the absolute worst experience ever.No one was ever available when I called. I was disconnected more than once and they insisted I go to a doctor where I had a bad experience.NEVER CHOOSE THIS OPTION.THE SHOULD BE CALLED: LA DOESNT CARE.It is unfortunate I was unable to give them no stars like they deserve!

Id avoid these guys. Ive had massive problems getting prior approval for a medication I need and theyre incredibly poor about responding to attempts at communication. Phone representatives are polite but poorly informed and unable to provide useful assistance. Ive been unable to ever get a response to a webform submitted inquiry.

L.A. CARE is CRAP!! TWICE they have given me doctors for my kids and then when I get the Med cards for them, call the doctors office, the doctor doesnt even take L.A. CARE!!! They have been a big waste of my time. This pisses me off especially when one of the kids is sick and I find this out.

The biggest waste of time Ive ever experienced in my life. Incompetent people who have little to no education are running this company. The level of service is disgusting and they should not be allowed to continue providing services. The department of consumer affairs needs to intervene.I went from full coverage one month to a random closure of my health plan the next month. No reason apart from sorry were not sure why contact medical. I cannot obtain health care from my doctor, nor can I get my medication.Dont waste your time with these fools, they are useless!!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was on the phone for over an hour just to get connected to a real live representative. The automated options did not have the option that I needed, so I tried to press 0 to talk to a representative, but it always goes back to the beginning of the automated message. I originally submitted a claim to their grievances and appeals department in mid-Nov 2019. Its now March 2020 and I still havent received any communication regarding my claim. Ive followed up with them 4 times since and each time the associate told me theyd escalate the claim and email the department. I have never received follow-up.

Customer service is hit and miss when you call. As for the the doctors to choose from, they seem to have low star ratings and its very hard to choose a doctor. In my experience so far, the doctors I have chosen arent in network which brings me to believe this network is very unorganized. FYI your customer service reps need training.........
