This is a wonderful family run business. The adult beginner/intermediate classes are welcoming to people of all skill levels and backgrounds. Everyone who participates is encouraging of one another and the coaches are respectful and knowledgeable and encourage you to push past your fears and hang-ups and just go for it.

Ive been going to this gym for 9 years. Its not a facility with state of the art equipment. This is more of a chill place that comes with a more family feel since its family owned. People who go here are mostly locals or people that have been coming for years. Most of the equipment is old but it works. Also quite peaceful most days and is great for training things you dont want your industry to see.

So happy I found Mats Gymnastics! I have been taking both Saturday and Sunday adult class. Love it!! Coach Mori and his son Matt are so knowledgeable and the class participants so nice, down to earth and supportive. I look forward class every weekend.

I’ve gone to this place on, and off for years. It’s got this great retro feel to it, kinda like training in a gymnastics gym that Rocky Balboa would’ve gone to. Everyone there is very nice, and it’s kinda like family oriented. And, yes it’s not as clean as it could be, but that’s fine. But, if I did have to say something about the gym from a point of constructive criticism. It would be that the owner & and main instructor there Coach Mori has a very short temper. It’s like he can fly into a fit of yelling, and anger at the drop of a hat. Sometimes it would seem that he can be uncompromising in what seem to be outdated, & nonsensical standards & points of view. For example: I was just in there today. I asked if I could take a picture of his class schedule & he said no, because I look like a coach, and he didn’t want me to steal his schedule ideas. I explained to him that I was actually just interested in taking class & the open practice session. He said something to the effect of, “ oh well just come back after 5 o’clock when my son is here, he handles everything I just teach, if, and, but etc.... then I asked if I could take a picture, or write down a note of the schedule or phone number, but nope. My further questions seemed to anger him as he began to raise his voice. So, let’s recap I couldn’t take a picture of the schedule that was on the desk right in front of me, I can’t write down the phone number to call, & and now I’m basically being yelled at just for asking for information to become a willfully paying patron of the establishment. I mean come on, I was being polite & even a little scared of him raising his voice more than he already had & going into a complete nuclear melt down, as I’ve been on the receiving end many years ago, as well as witnesses him go full melt down on other people in the past. This place has been in my neighborhood since before I was born. I used to love going to practice with like minded people to improve on & learn new skills. I moved away for a few years, and have been looking to reconnect with my old self, as well as other in my community.Despite all the somewhat negative comments meant to serve purely as constructive criticism, coach Mori is an incredibly talented individual with a wealth of experience when it comes to gymnastics, it’s just that I happen to think that he may need to go check out some anger management classes.I’m sorry Coach Mori, I love you, but you can be pretty rough around the edges sometimes, & to be honest I’ve heard from lots of people that used to practice there a lot & take classes, don’t anymore because of this very behavior I’ve spoken of, in this review.
