What a train wreck. Absolutely worthless for the individual who is trying to come up by working a legitimate job and no place to store what little they have in this world. SICKENING!! Chaos is king and the staff is queen. Continually blaming the homeless or the military for any issue with the facility yet there is no speaking to the group as a whole by either side. The military would never address the homeless with slang and have the necessary training today to not allow personal feeling interfere with duty or honor. This only leaves FIRST to serve responsible for the treatment and care of the homeless. First to serve has failed miserably in the due diligence of service to you the public and to you the homeless. I have just received word from the commander of the armory that the military has nothing to do with the property of the homeless or the rules of the operation of first to serve during the project time save for the restricted areas of the facility. Clearly there is some animosity in staff towards client concerning the voice of the client. EXAMPLE: You search for contraband and then you bottleneck the entryway with inadequate service? No one I know pulls a weapon unless they are aggravated to do so. Seems idiotic that you would not address the aggravating circumstances. Its a no brainer but I suppose you have never been homeless. HORRIBLE!

I went to First to serve in 2013 and at that time was the best thing to happen to me, I was able to deal with a lot of my issues and understand the nature of my addiction, i have been clean and sober since then. I furthered my education and now im a substance abuse counselor, thanks to First To Serve and Rick Reed and Jeremiah Diaz

I would like to state that, Ive been in addiction for many years and Ive learned that by my self I cant get well. Thats a fact! There is no perfect place in this world, to get well we as addicts will always complain, about anyplace we go, its what we do. Im very grateful for First 2 Serve providing a place in this community were I had the opportunity to see my problems, and even though it was challenging to go through there unique way just made me realize that I must learn to deal with life on lifes terms. In this world your not always gonna get what you want. Ive learn to deal with me n my Patience, termination, conflicts within, with what I had , and I came to First to Serve with nothing to my Name! Broken and loss of everything family..job, and home. I seen what goes on here first hand. And even though I dont agree with a few things I know deep down inside that there intentions are to build you up to become greater than you were before you entered. First to Serve I thank you for giving me the chance to get well, today while still there and soon to be in there sober living Im going to school , to get my AA in Culinary Arts, and I have a job in the same Field, and Im mending my Familys relationships. They contributed to my strength today.. I believe today that all they want is to see us rise up and achieve our essence, as they provide a place were we can do so. Believe when i Say there are way more worst places out there were the managers are doing drugs, allowing drugs, getting bribed, and not having a safe place to get well. This place made it safe, hard, and challenging. Its what I needed... Thanks First to Serve and all the staff...for helping me.

Rick Reed is a great guy(Flimsy Reed), but his shelter is NOT in the correct hands to be ran smoothly without conflict. I pray he changes his system before somebody higher up takes it over. Then the people will be misplaced and I know that is not his intentions

I came through in 2010-2011. Rev Rick Reed Keeps it 100, and The staff that was there been there and done it so don’t think your going to go in and play no games. Learn about what your suffering from, get simple tools under your belt, and don’t look back! If you decide on jail instead of this program , you need to butt kicked. Period!

I went there to get my life back on track but the only positive thing I got was help with daily structure and patience. I dont want to say anything bad about the place and the owner is a great man but please do not send anyone you care about here and exhaust all other options before making this your choice.

Ghetto, unprofessional, and corrupt... Girls there run there own program, staff is not there 24/7. There is a lot of violence at the house, not to mention bullying. Very uncomfortable environment to be in.

My sister stayed at one of their domestic violence shelters and the person that was running the shelter is very manipulating and tells lies. She told my sister I was rude on the phone and she had to end the conversation but I never even spoke to her. It was I that ended correspondence via text. She also refused to provide my sister or I with copies of the paperwork that was signed by my sister. Yet she says all she has to do is ask. Well, we asked, several times and still no copies. She never explained the paperwork or the rules/regulations. They were changed whenever she saw fit. When I started pressing her about the paperwork, she then began to say that maybe First to Serve is not the place for her. She was only concerned with the money. She repeatedly kept asking for money without addressing the issue at hand. She also had a person that is mentally disabled sign paperwork without a witness. Anytime things did not go her way or were at her standard, she then changed them. But was very defensive when i was asking for information and she was always wanting proof of what my sister was doing (Dr. appt, court date, any other appt) we had to provide proof. She refused to let her have her pain medicine when she knew she had migraine headaches and a shoulder problem. I had to call the person that runs the program just to get some of her own paperwork returned to her. Needless to say, my sister is no longer with this program and although they may have a good purpose to serve, the did not serve that purpose with my sister. She may as well have been in jail. Please think twice, in fact 3 times before going to this place. You will be giving up all your rights, freedom, and money!!!!!
