Hollywood Forever is both a place and a state of mind, and this is the place where so many have made true on that notion and call it their permanent home. From Hollywoods first bonafide blockbuster movie star, Douglas Fairbanks, to great rock and roll legends of our own time, like Chris Cornell - the familiar names which rest here eternally is too long to list. Visiting here is a peaceful and respectful experience. The staff welcomes all, you are free to document your moment on camera. This is Hollywood after all. I used to spend a lot of time at Fairbanks Lawn while working on a script about his life. When Chris Cornell died we went a few days in a row because it was the only way we could cope with it emotionally. This magical cemetery is not a place of sorrow and somber, but a reflection and celebration of the lives lived. You will forget you are right in the middle of the LA concrete jungle, and you can quietly commune with the souls who call it home and the swans that keep them company. All these great lives made the most of life and walked these raucous streets surrounding us, but now they truly rest in peace. It would be the highest honor to one day join them, but its a long and legendary waiting list.

What an amazing resting place! Theres so much beauty there and I know all the cemetery residents love all the people traffic. This is absolutely what I love about LA!We traveled around to visit some of the stars and did get to see so many favorites, like Don Adams, Mel Blanc, Douglas Fairbanks, Hattie Mc Daniel, and Mickey Rooney, and the list goes on and on. And, as many that live close by were jogging, power walking, and strolling through the graves; that huge iconic Hollywood sign in the distance just added to the finishing touches. What an enjoyable day!We havent taken the tour yet, or ventured back up for the movie night, but, we will. Theyve got beautiful peacocks that they let roam the graveyard at night. Only in LA. :)Its the most captivating experience and its a must if your in Santa Monica.

From beginning to end, my experience with Hollywood Forever and my liaison Noelle Berman was everything I wanted and more.I contacted Noelle Berman when my wifes cancer diagnosis had gone from bad to worse. I had a lot of questions, and Berman handled them with professionalism and compassion. I had some unconventional requests with regard to embalming (no) and cremation (witnessed), and Berman helped to honor every one of them, even in the time of COVID-19. She clearly explained what we could and could not do under the circumstances. After my wifes death, Noelle worked with the funeral director and the cemeterys owner to make sure we created a fitting ceremony. The funeral director, Chanell OFarrill, took the time to understand the ceremony that we wanted, identify some important choices that I had not thought of, and made the whole day seamless. With the help of the gardeners and the owner, we managed to create a unique experience that was a fitting tribute to my beloved wife. I cant thank them enough.

Supported a great charity event (Simply Divine) for the LA LGBT Center, while eating delicious food from some of the best chefs in Los Angeles, last night. The event was in the middle of the Forever Hollywood Cemetery but it felt like I had escaped to some magical place with friendly people, and fantastic champagne. There were vegetarian, and vegan options at many of the tables, and plenty of meat options for those who eat it. There was a fun band playing. There were several wine options in the VIP section, which also included its own private bar, and seating area. Eating delicious food under the stars, with beautiful music playing in the background made for a really enjoyable night, and it was for a truly amazing cause. We will be back next year, and the year after, and the year after, and the year after...

My girlfriend and I came to Hollywood Forever on my birthday, so that I could visit Chris Cornells grave in the Garden of Legends. The grounds turned out to be very easy to navigate, but they do have maps inside the gift shop if you need one. What we ended up finding out is how truly beautiful and magnificent this cemetery actually is. Tucked away inside this giant city is one of the most gorgeous and peaceful places youd never expect to find. Very good place for just spending some time outdoors and enjoying the weather.

I am a long-time fan of The Golden Girls, and like so many fans, had a great affection for Estelle Getty. I wanted to visit her grace in Hollywood Forever and say hello. Walking through this immaculately kept cemetery was both inspiring and sad. We couldnt get in to see the tomb of Judy Garland (we had to peer through the glass) but we did see hundreds of monuments of many famous and less-than famous people. It seems that after about a generation. many of the monuments are left unvisited. I guess that is the way of things, but it also made me wonder about all the money spent on the large and lavish monuments. Looking at Estelle Gettys simple headstone, I felt the power of the words inscribed - With love and laughter - came from her long and well-lived life.

We selected Hollywood Forever because it is a place that always brought our family joy. We love the idea of family and friends visiting us in a setting so filled with life. We have wonderful memories of yearly visits to Dia de Los Muertos and the Johnny Ramone Tribute together as a family. Our daughter died unexpectedly last year, and we have learned firsthand how much comfort Hollywood Forever provides for the loved ones left behind. Adela and her team lovingly and respectfully guided us through the arrangements and the service. Our daughter’s grave gives us comfort and the ability to honor her memory. We are so grateful for the freedom we have to personalize her grave and the opportunity to comfortably spend time there. Knowing that her friends gather there sharing memories is incredibly special. On each visit, we make time to visit with the abundant wildlife at the lake and sometimes they even visit us at the grave.

I had the difficult decision of deciding where to lay my beautiful 18 yr old daughter to rest. It is obviously something I never dreamt of discussing with her. I have never been fond of cemeteries as they always felt so sad to me. My daughter was such an amazing person and was environmentally conscious. I heard about memorial Forests where you could be laid to rest and grow as a tree. I knew immediately that is what my daughter would want. What I wasn’t expecting was how gorgeous the grounds at Hollywood Forever are. It felt like a secret garden within a busy city, and the energy was so positive, peaceful and full of love. Adela helped me every step of the way, being so kind and always quick to respond to me. The day of the ceremony was perfect and the funeral director and all involved were so helpful and kind. Had driven by Hollywood Forever Cemetry hundreds of times before I finally visited. I guess it was my deep-seated anti-celebrity feelings that kept me away but my even deeper love for Mr. Jonathan Gold and my need to mourn his passing drove me to enter the grounds. First time was on my own, as I was afraid Id break down sobbing and didnt want to embarass myself. Second time was with Gold Elite Yelper Kim T., who showed me around and helped me find the historical significance of this famous Los Angeles resting place. The grounds are well maintained and its easy to drive around and park near a gravesite youd like to visit. Mr. Golds final resting place is near the memorial for the Los Angeles Times bombing (which occurred in 1920, 21 were killed, thanks Kim T for the heads up about this stunning memorial). I was also able to pay my respects to Hattie McDaniel at her lovely memorial, as well as various other famous people who have made their final journey. If you want to find the celebrities, do a quick internet search and youll find all the info you need.RIP JG.

I have no complaints on the beauty and the caretaking of the grounds, this is definitely an amazing cemetery for your loved ones to rest at peace. My only dissatisfaction is with those of us that have family members interred in the mausoleum. I would hope they (cemetery) would have something more efficient to be able to leave flowers for those family members that are interred too high and out of reach. Those stick things (sorry dont know the correct name) are so frustrating and they hardly ever help get the flowers up there. I hope someone would be considerate enough and have some empathy for those of us that just want to be able to leave our loved one flowers without the headache and frustration. And yes I did express my concern and frustration with the front office...all I got was a sorry but no solution. I guess Ill just hope for the best...

Very beautiful cemetery. And the experience is definitely worth the visit. The people who gave less than 3 stars obviously have no appreciation for Hollywood legends or immortalizing their final finishes nor have they done any research prior to their visit on celebrity grave location. She handled everything with a sympathetic ear and was a professional at the same time. My mother’s funeral was in July and once again Norma was pivotal in making sure the graveside service was safe and respectful. We all had masks and we were all spaced six feet apart and yet it was still a beautiful service. Thank you Norma and Forever Cemetary for all you have done for our family.

The events (movie screening and concerts) on the Fairbanks lawn are a must do for those living in or visiting LA. Truly one of a kind experience (you can bring a picnic too!), very well managed. If you go to an event on the lawn and drive there, opt for the parking pass. Even though its $20, it allows you to skip the regular entry line and part right on the grounds (who doesnt love a little drive through a cemetery late at night?). However on site parking to events at the super intimate Masonic Lodge on the property is free and the space is also really nice for smaller shows!

I went on their ghost tours a couple of years back. That was interesting no nothing scary or apparitions happened but the tour guide gave an insightful history of the cemetery. Which was very sad at one point because the entire place was in dire ruins and was literally owned by someone whos main concern was about money rather than the sympathetic issues at hand. For example: the huge strip mall directly out front was actually part of the cemetery, in fact it was a huge grassy knoll with mosaic buildings and landscapes. The owner sold to a developer for profit disregarding the beauty of place. How sad? But the owners now have restored and brought back the cemetery to what it once use to be and maintain it now. Good for them. We should always have respect for our deceased. I want to go to some of the venues again they are interesting....

Ive only been to a concert here (Phantogram), but the experience was really fun. You can picnic bringing food/beer/wine so its similar to the Hollywood Bowl in that sense, but its more casual and comfortable since you lay out blankets and sit on the grass while the show/movie is going on. Its definitely an experience to be in a cemetery for a concert or movie, a little creepy at first when you see all the gigantic headstones but youre in an area separate from all the grave sites. I would only hope most people are respectful of those buried here walking back to their cars.
