I’ve received treatments from Shaun for a while now and I’ve had an excellent experience so far. The office is serene and peaceful with some nice plants and such. Very professional service that has helped with a variety of issues.

I’ve been getting acupuncture regularly for over 10 years and have seen many different kinds of practitioners; from those who are very clinical in their approach who have helped me through sports injuries and repetitive stress injuries, to reproductive specialists that have boosted fertility and balanced hormones, to those who run a more spa-like practice that helps to ground the spirit and ease stress. He takes the work seriously and is clearly a talented healer, but he’s also just extremely welcoming and down to earth. Every session that we’ve had since has just as much respect and empathy for concerns that I might have, and he is very easy to communicate with.I was concerned that acupuncture might not help with how many different things that I have going on, but he always manages to help with prioritizing my concerns and asks the right questions to know that we are focusing on what I really need right now. I leave every session feeling relaxed and a significant improvement in my symptoms – sometimes through a multi-prong approach with acupuncture, herbs, bodywork, and things to try at home to help with long-term management. I’ve even had my specialists encourage me to make sure that I can keep going and making appointments because of the improvements that I’ve seen.This is not a place where you’ll be promised things that sound too good to be true (and my family has asked!) or where you’ll feel like you’re being strung along. It is somewhere that you can get knowledgeable and honest care to help you. I’m so grateful to have found Shaun at Golden Mean acupuncture in Echo Park. His office feels like a sacred space and is convenient coming from Eagle Rock/ East side. Shaun is an incredible acupuncturist and I feel so fortunate that I found Golden Mean. At a time where I hit a roadblock with my health (after approaching it from solely a holistic perspective), Shaun has encouraged me to integrate western medicine and made me feel at ease to do so by bringing clarity to the full picture of both western and eastern medicine, why both are valid and how they can work together. He is kind, caring, super knowledgeable and professional. I also really love listening to him talk about his process for treatment and all the analogies he uses to make it super relatable and easy to understand. The space is really great too, it’s welcoming and calming while also feeling really fresh. There is so much thought and care put into the whole experience of this practice. Shaun is an amazing practitioner and is a highly qualified acupuncturist. I’ve been his patient for over 5 years, and he has treated me for a variety of things including musculoskeletal back pain, boosting my fertility to help with conception, and acupuncture to increase my milk supply while nursing. He has also done localized treatments to aid in my recovery after wrist surgery. I cannot recommend him enough. I’ve referred numerous friends and they have all had great experiences as well. This was a wonderful introduction to acupuncture. I have had a couple knee surgeries over the last few years, and have developed incredibly painful plantar fasciitis in my foot. It felt like I had been doing everything: epsom salt baths, foam rolling, cupping, theragunning, and more.Shaun was recommended to me by a friend, and I am so grateful. You walk into an incredibly zen and calm space to be greeted by an equally peaceful Shaun. After a comprehensive overview of my personal medical history, what was painful, and what I wanted to achieve, Shaun set me up on the table.As someone with high anxiety, ADHD, and a slight fear of needles, I had my hesitations about sitting still with acupuncture treatment. Shaun talked me through the whole process, explained to me what was happening, and held my hand when I got a little scared feeling the movement of the therapeutic pulse.Shaun came in to check on me, brought in incredibly calming incense, and provided a great space to truly allow my muscles and mind to relax.The whole day I walked without pain in my foot. It was an absolutely wonderful introduction to acupuncture, and a great first experience. I left with advice, less pain, and a yen for more.

Ive met with both Shaun and Nell, the practioners at Golden Mean, and both are equal to the task in their wisdom of Chinese medicine and their ability to provide professional, healing care for the whole body, mind and spirit. Dont be afraid of the needles, theyve got a gentle touch.While I meditate nearly every day, get out and hike in nature, eat decent enough, and practice yoga, I was still struggling many days with intense emotions, anxiety and over-analyzing. In addition, I had major digestive issues, including: nausea, bloating, choking and vomiting.I delayed trying acupuncture because I thought it would take a long time for results; I also thought it would cost too much. I was wrong. With my first session, I felt instantly better: more physical energy, mental clarity, more compassionate toward myself and my family, and better able to handle everyday frustrations. In addition, my digestive issues have NOT been issues since I started acupuncture.With the acupuncture I also have feel like my body, mind and heart are working together more harmoniously. Said another way, I feel grounded, whole and present. Less in my head, and more in my body.I understand my results may not be your results--everyone responds differently. But wow, it so feels worth the try.I also appreciate that Shaun and Nell see the benefits of integrating Chinese medicine with Western medicine (rather than seeing them as competing against one another). I have had a lot of acupuncture over the years and my experence at Golden Mean stands out as one of the best. The clinic is warm and friendly, clean, and easy to park at the meters out front. It means a lot to me when practitioners take the time to explain things well and answer questions without making you feel rushed. Shaun is so wonderful at this and overall has such an incredible bedside manner. He has cleared up a number of complaints quickly and i rely on him for all my de-stressing treatments and taking care of all the aches and pains from long work hours.
