The Natural History Museum had a wonderful assortment of displays. There is even N activities room open to the public for children to go in and have fun learning about different t plants and animals. The onky downfall is there is limited parking and most parking around the building is permit parking only. This is not clearly marked. Be sure to park in non-permit parking or you definitely will get a ticket.

Very good museum, lots of Nebraska fossils and often location information. Numerous fossils from locations all over the world, as well. Fascinating displays of minerals, rocks, meteorites and geology. Interesting exhibits covering mineral chemical structure and crystals. The whole third floor is devoted to covering many aspects of Nebraska natural history, ecology, current environment and human history. There are also several microscopes for hands-on investigation of all manner biological and mineral specimens. I may have missed them but a notable exception is spiders. I didnt see any exhibit that featured them. Overall this is a fantastic place to inspire new scientists at an early age and a great place for us older folks who love the natural world around us.

This was one of our stops on our little weekend getaway (we’re from out of town but still reside in Nebraska so we were familiar with the Nebraska side of exhibits!). Easily one of the BEST museums I have ever been to! So much cool and fun stuff to see. A whole four floors too! We spent almost two hours here just looking at everything there was to see! Prices are reasonable for the amount of things they have set up. We absolutely LOVED the evolution of the elephants room… The mammoth structure was AMAZING! There’s a lot of kid-friendly stuff too! It was just us two adults but I’m pregnant so hopefully when our little one is older we will return to give them the opportunity to experience this awesome museum! Kudos to the staff and those who set the entire place up!

We have come here a couple times with the family it has always been very enjoyable and educational. My kids love seeing the huge mammoths. My oldest son who loves animals loved seeing all the different kinds they had around the whole museum. My dad and my son enjoyed looking at the varies rocks displayed on the second floor. There are so many different types of rocks to look at and a hands on science exhibit. The new exhibit on the third floor is really awesome as well. The kids got to do some hands on learning which was pretty great. Overall would highly recommend. The only downside might be parking but there is a parking garage close by and we just had to take a short walk to the museum.

The museum isnt open for many hours, but it was VERY enjoyable! They had many different topics, from the Nebraska plains to ancient fossils. They had many different interactive exhibits as well, so I 100% recommend this place for small children. I also went to the planetarium, and while it was enjoyable, I think it is more suited for young children. They have a very extensive collection, and the amount of information in there is extensive and thorough. Another really cool thing in there was the lab where they were opening casts of fossils on display. The entire facility was very clean, and the bathrooms looked a little old, but also clean. The bathrooms were a little weird to find, but not bad. Overall, I highly recommend this place if you are a fan of history and science for sure.

Fun trip, exhibits were interesting especially the new ones. Some of the displays could use some updating. Desk staff was quite short and rude when telling us it is not a reciprocal site with the Omaha children’s museum, despite the OCM website saying they were. Bummed to find that out since the discount was one of the reasons we were going and it started the trip off on a really sour note. If the children were not so excited to be here we would have left.

Located in the Morrill Hall, in the heart of the Universirty campus, a.k.a. Elephant Museum, this is a hidden jewel. Enter the surprisingly cavernous halls displaying fossils of mammoths, elephants, and animals going back to Mesozoic era (nearly 250 - 65 million years ago). Very long ones and some taller than their spans. Many from Western Nebraska. Proof positive that elephants roamed the Western Hemisphere way before their current abode in Asia and Africa! The museum distinguishes itself in not dinosaur focused, and displaying fossils with rare forms (I had never seen before). A traveling National Geographic photo exhibition was a stunning treat. The museum needs support to keep up. It is a national treasure.

Morrill Hall is a must do when you are in Lincoln. The great amount of fossil exhibits, and scientific exhibits are intriguing. The one thing I learned was whales and hippos have a common evolution ancestor. There is lots for school age children to do as well as some hands on exhibits and sensory exhibits are on the first floor. Admission is reasonable for those under 18 as well. Small Children under 5 are free.

Love, love, love the elephant museum! So much to see and learn. We have a membership and have been visiting regularly for 10+ years. We never tire of visiting and find something new to see and learn about everytime we go. The museum is a favorite place for my kiddos to go. It is the perfect spot to go to get out the house during inclement weather. The membership is such a bargain, $65 a year for the whole family to go as many times as we want. Also discounted tickets for the planetarium and a discount in the gift shop. The reciprocal program has gotten us in to so many other museums for free as well. We easily save twice what the membership costs us, in visiting other museums as we travel. I highly recommend keeping a membership for your family. Worth every penny.

Exceptional COVID precautions. Weve been limiting out excursions due to the virus and little kids. Reserved times for admission and plenty of space between visitors. There was always hand sanitizer nearby if you needed it. We noticed staff actively sanitizing on every floor. The staff was very friendly, knowledge and attentive. Some of the more interactive displays were down for health reasons. It may not be the largest natural history museum, but its ours and definitely worth a visit if youre a fan of mammoths.

I would definitely recommend about five or six hours in order for you to get the full experience. This will allow you to see and read every thing there is. I would say it is worth a long trip to visit. That how awesome this place is. Lincoln also has a few other things that you can do and some good restaurants so it would be a nice day trip. Great museum with four floors of stuff. Newest floor just opened in 2019 and is very modern while some of the other floors are more dated, but all were very interesting. New exhibit is history of Nebraska area from geology to animals to how it all comes together. Does a great job of addressing climate change and how it can be seen through whats happening in the natural world. Coolest thing was the Hall of Elephants with all the prehistoric skeletons of the different kinds of elephants that used to roam here. Features the largest mounted Mammoth skeleton which is just HUGE. Loved the modern barnyard exhibit as well.

A neat museum and neat place to spend the afternoon. Lots to look at and explore. Some of the exhibits are very dated and could use some updates.Edit: I did visit the new fourth floor and it was great. Updates I would like to see would be better lighting. The new exhibit on the 4th floor is great as well... a bit of a different feel with SO much to see.All around Id definitely recommend going, whether youve been there before or are visiting Lincoln for the first time.Nothing like seeing the Mammoth room right when you walk in!! 💜
