Cutest ever camp site!!! We stayed 1 night passing through the state. Full hook up site that accommodated our 40 ft coach. This place is quiet with beautiful grassy areas lined by corn fields. Camp hosts/owners were very helpful and friendly. Helped us back into our site and made sure we got everything hooked up right. Their sweet dog and cat came out to say hi. We left very early the next morning but wished we could have relaxed a little with a cup of coffee and enjoyed the peacefulness. I’d definitely stay there again and hope too next year on our annual voyage to Oshkosh.
A small campground but a gem. Very quiet. The two brothers are taking very good care of the campground and the big mature trees provided welcoming shade. Unknown to us, the balloon festival was going on. We enjoyed sitting in our chairs along the road, watching the balloons float by. We stayed here for 3 nights in our 34 foot fifth wheel. We had an fairly level site and full hook up. Walmart and gas stations were close enough to drive to but far enough to not be a nuisance. We would stay here again.
Our second stay here was even more beautiful than the first. Our first stay was in March;this time the corn fields provided a cozy natural boundary around the little camp. Large shade trees cover the property. The hosts and Wrigley the camp dog greeted us and guided us to our level spot. This place is a gem!
What an excellent stop! Yes, it is small, but it’s so peaceful. The owners are very welcoming and helpful, even giving me the last of their roll of gorilla tape to make an emergency repair. Thank you very much! Please note that this is a campground, not a resort. But if you need a break after a long drive, you’ll discover that this place is near-perfect.
Great small campground, super friendly and accommodating. I arrived at 9pm and the owners were quick to help guide me and wait for me to verify all my connections
Easy to make reservations in advance via phone. We rolled in later than expected and it was raining. It was dark as heck and two guys came out w flash lights, greeted and guided us to the camp site.Very much appreciated the above and beyond customer service!
Great little park nice folks.
We ( my wife and I) just spent one night at the campground. It was quiet dispite being fairly close to the highway. The campground is very small (only a handful of sites with electric and water, and a few with full hookups). I can honestly say I would go there again (for another overnighter only though). Price was fairly typical for RV parks.
Great little family run campground, within a half mile of Lincoln and pretty easy access from I-55. Eric and Todd are super helpful getting you into your site and great to get along with. I ended up staying a month to take care if business in Lincoln (and visit family) and I thoroughly enjoyed the stay.
Great stop off place for a night. Very friendly, especially Wrigley. Thanks
My friend and I visited Camp A While this past Saturday night. What an opportunity for us to rest, visit and enjoy the corn fields surrounding us. The facilities are very good and accessible. It was great being in a smaller campground - quiet, birds chirping and distant sounds from the highway. Truly a relaxing night, and we enjoyed our conversation with Mary Ann and her mother. Kudos to her family!
Nice small family-run park. This was an easy stop-over place for me. Owners were super-nice and super-easy to deal with and price was okay. My dog was so happy to play with Wrigley!
We absolutely love this charming little campground. It is wonderfully shaded, green and surrounded by corn fields. The owners are so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our conversations with them and our dogs Buster & Rosa had a great time playing with Wrigley - who is the official greeter for Camp-a-While. We highly recommend this perfect spot!
Fabulous greatest night on our trip
This is a great LITTLE camp ground. Even tho it is small we didnt have any issues getting into our sight. The guys that are running it have done an outstanding job. They came out to our rig and greeted us and then walked us over to where they had us staying. They helped to get us lined up with where they wanted us as they had another rig that was coming in a little later in the evening. The park is immaculantly clean. They do have the showers and bathrooms down for covid but we were okay with that.We like the fact that the owners were very personable and wanted to make sure that your stay was enjoyable. We were able to play with their dog Wriggley a yellow lab that was just as playful as can be..We would stay there again. Great Job guys.... A TRUE HIDDEN GEM.We camped at McMillens Camp-A-While in a Fifth Wheel
Wonderful, quiet spot out in the country amongst farm fields, yet close to Lincon, IL. Stayed there overnight in winter, en route to Texas. Current owners very hospitable, friendly. They are doing some remodeling, but definitely feel the flavor of the old Route 66 campgrounds.
Nice place. Dog friendly. Welcomed us in late at night. They have two bathrooms, both with a shower. Washer and dryer. Electric hook up. The guy there brought us fire wood and made sure we had everything.
It is a awesome little campground. Has only a couple of big pull through spots. We are a 40 pulling a Dolly and had Room to pull in and park We just thoroughly enjoyed the area. Most spots are back in. Trees all around the site and farm fields all around. Very accessible and only A few miles from insterstate with good road access. Town is a mile or so away.
Great little park! We stopped in just for 1 night. Mary Ann answered my phone call earlier in the day to check availability, then met us driving in to help us get into our spot. Shes a new owner, and super nice! A lovely little place where we would have enjoyed spending more time.
Clean quiet place in the country, owners are super friendly, staying long term for a work project. Highly recommended. Make sure you say high to Wrigley the camp host dog, hes a good boy.
Clean, cozy and owners on-site should you need assistance.
Excellent location quiet and peaceful but beware of using your credit card to pay because they charge $2 per day to use your credit card which is a bit steep. The camp host are very friendly and carry on a great conversation. Wrigley their dog is quite friendly too.
Was here last August and owners are very sweet. This is why we came back.
Great place to camp with your family and for pets. Ideal location!!! Didnt loose any time, it was just off our route and outside the city of Lincoln. Very quiet and super friendly/helpful owner - maryann and her boys, todd and Eric, oh cant forget Wrigley the their yellow lab and mascot!Well be back for sure.
Owners extremely friendly & helpful. Very small but adequate. Easy access to full hookups on pull thru site. We have a 38’ rig.
Quiet, close to town, owners seem nice. Its not very big and its not an upscale place but I would recommend for sure. Reasonably priced, decent bathrooms and showers. I like it, no complaints. Showers have soap, shampoo, conditioner, and a towel. I dont use them but it says a lot about how quaint and accommodating the owners are.Edit- the towels and toiletries were there for someone else, but thats a good thing imho. Still a nice little place.
Very peaceful
Loved this quit little retreat easy access off I-55. Friendly helpful owners, Clean showers, dog friendly, 50-amp if needed. Close to several restaurants, Ace Hardware, Walmart and a few others. I will always plan my trips in this part of the country staying a night or two at Camp A While. Thanks staff for a warm family welcome!!! PS: I have a 34’ 5th wheel and problems at all.
Very nice and small place on quiet country road. No noise so sleeping is good. Self check in was easy. Id highly recommend this RV park if you just want W and E.
Stayed at Camp A While and found the sites to be great. The owners were very friendly and made sure our needs were met. I would camp there again.
Clean restrooms, gd water, nice shaded spot.Staff kind. No picnic table. Small park in cornfields, OK f overnight.
Small campground, only 12 RV sites, most are shaded. Room for tents. Small play ground for children. Surrounded by farmland--corn and soybeans. Great place to stay awhile, or to simply stay the night. Full hookups, some drive throughs. Owner extremely helpful. Stayed the night with a 30ft trailer and van. Would stay again.
Delightful small campground, ideal for a night stop. People were courteous and helpful, it was quiet, simple and an appreciated break off the interstate.
Staying for 4 days. Owner is a sweetheart. Very quite and clean. Will come back when passing through again
Quiet country setting, small, friendly staff.
We had to stop here due to an accident on the hwy. It shut the road down. Tha place is nice and quiet. Could not find a trash can. Im a smoker and i always field butt my ciggs. I told the woman this. She had to make the statement that if any were left on the ground it was a ten dollar charge per butt. Ok this was uncalled for as i had already discussed this with her.
Beautiful spot not far out of the way. Great people!
We loved staying at this quaint little campground. Surrounded by corn we felt at home!
Small and quiet with a very nice owner. Loved being out in the country but yet your only a few minutes off main highway 55. And only a few minutes away from Wal Mart and restrants.
Nice, quiet campground with friendly host. We had plenty of space. Enjoyed our stay.
Great place, I wanted a fire pit.
A few spots that are mostly back-ins. They have a few pull-throughs. A very good spot to come to for a short stay. Nothing to keep younger children occupied. Surrounded by farm land and a road. No fence. Great to catch a rainbow, I saw a triple rainbow during my stay. The road is all gravel with some grassy areas. Pull-throughs are mostly shaded. Back-ins not as shaded. Longer RVs may have a hard time considering the smaller spots.
Very nice place to stop for the night. Very friendly staff and easy to get in and back on the road.
Had me pay for a week and only stayed 4 days. Asked for a refund and he argued rudely saying 4 days was a week. Owes me $100.00.Water was terrible rusty and couldnt use the facilities. Sewer backed up out of the ground several times between me and the next lot, not a sanitary place. Traffic going by was like a speedway all night. Nothing ti do there for kids, tiny place.Keep on driving its a terrible place to stay.
Camp Host very helpful!
Nice place
Nice,quiet, friendly owners
