Dr Scott Otto misdiagnosed my hernia telling me that I do not have it. Since it was obvious that I have it I visited a different provider. A Northwestern doctor diagnosed a large hernia and I underwent surgery. Surgeons of Lake County charged me for dr Otto misdiagnosis $248. When I complained to them, they were very unpleasant and told me that I have to pay or they send it collection. Avoid Surgeons of Lake County!

The staff is the worst staff I’ve ever had to deal with I left messages for billing issues, call backs and when your follow up they treat you like it’s the first time they are hearing of it ok fine moving past that I had a surgery done was told laparoscopic at my consult at my follow up was never discussed why a change in plans on surgery. It was not until I followed up with my PCP that she ordered a CT and advised that I had an open surgery and found I still had a hernia and referred me back to surgeon. Followed up with the surgeon and found out he only works Tuesday and Thursday and good luck if you need a call back Jessica his MA promised my concerns would be addressed on that Tuesday after months of pain and not knowing I still had a hernia needles to say I’m still waiting a call back knowing all this I would have found another practice with not only better staffing but caring physician I had addressed my pain on follow up appointments with Surgeon but was reassured everything was fine and trust the surgery went well instead of going through proper steps to verify this claim.. Would not recommend this practice. I also took my husband to see Dr Miller who did a minor surgery no problems with that but my experience was the worst

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this office. I came on time for my appointment, but was told that there was a misunderstanding; my appointment was actually scheduled for the next day.I had an abscess on my shoulder that needed to be evaluated urgently because it was infected and could have become an emergency situation.I asked the receptionist who I could see, and the receptionist told me that there was no doctor who could see me.I understood, but I asked if I could simply talk to a doctor just so he or she could take a quick look and tell me whether my condition was urgent or if it could wait a couple of days.The receptionist said this wouldn’t be possible, so I asked if she could at least go to a doctor and ask if they would be willing to look.The receptionist refused to even address a doctor; she refused to get up from her chair and do anything.I continued to insist that I be given a chance to at least ask a doctor whether he or she would be willing to look.At this point, the receptionist seemed frustrated, and the manager was called in.I explained everything and what I was asking for: the opportunity just to ask the doctor one question.The manager said the same thing as the receptionist and completely refused to help me.There was no compassion and absolutely no interest in me as the patient and my medical condition.Over ten years ago, I was a patient in this office and I had a very different and positive experience. The doctors and staff were compassionate, understanding, and willing to help their patients in any way that they could. Obviously things have changed drastically.I was lucky enough to find another general surgeon that same day in a different office. He also did not have available time, but was willing to listen to me as a patient and try to help me.Needless to say, I will never come to this office again and would discourage others from coming as well.

I have gone to see Dr. Vercillo.... She is a very caring and down to earth Dr. Wish all Drs was like her... Being a male she makes me feel comfortable.. Only issue i had was with a older heavy set receptionist being sexist towards me... But i think they may have fired her...

The staff here is the worst staff in the history of medical practice. The Dr (Scott Otto) makes it impossible to speak to him without making patients contact Jessica Travis, the worst medical assistant to every garner the title of Patient Coordinator. She rarely returns calls, never answers the phone, and then when she does call you back she acts like shes done it before, LIAR! How stupid do you think I am Scott Otto? If your staff is this bad, do you actually think Id let you operate on me? You should be embarrassed. Maybe you should spend more time developing a good staff, and less time being so arrogant.
