Dr. Tayaab is good. My issue is with the front desk. It is very difficult to get ahold of someone to talk to. They work on a voice Mail system and call you back hours after you’ve left a message. Perhaps they need additional phone coverage but this makes scheduling appointments extremely difficult.

First of all, one person left a 1 star review 5 times, bringing down the Google review average, so please dont be frightened away by the purposeful deflation. Multiple members of my family have been patients of Dr. Tayyab for years. Counseling Connections is a very busy practice, but I cant recall a single time weve been left out in the cold between refills, nor have I ever had to dispute coverage or billing. As far as Dr.Tayyab herself, as with almost all medical specialists, her billing practices are mainly dictated by Insurance Companies.I will admit Dr. Tayyab, like many busy specialists, doesnt have the warmest bed side manner, but out of the 6 different Psychiatrists that have treated me in my adult life, Dr Tayyab is the best clinician Ive experienced. Ive never had a Psychiatrist ask better clinically clarifying questions. Shes also willing and able to decipher Genesight, which is a cutting edge genetic test that can help guide medication choices. Please note that she does not practice therapy, instead choosing to work closely with your therapist. This can be confusing as some Psychiatric MDs do both medicine and therapy, others like Dr Tayyab, do not. I personally prefer it that way. If you also think youd like your Psychiatrist to stick to Psychiatry and your Therapist to focus on therapy, Dr. Tayyab is an excellent choice.

I do not recommend Dr. Tayyab. She had my mom on way too many medications that caused serious side effects resulting in a car accident. Dr. Tayyab did not show care, compassion, or urgency in making sure that my mom is on the correct medications or that she is even safe. It was extremely hard to get a hold of Dr. Tayyab or anyone else in the office. Stay away from this provider.

Great office. Cozy, professional and not too clinical. They offer tea and water while you wait, which is much appreciated.

She should lose her license. My 6 year old has ADHD and shes put him on 4 different meds and upped and upped all dosages constantly in less than a year. Not looking at what would best fit his behavior. After 10 mins of seeing my sons hyper activity she said we need to leave or she’s going to have a migraine the rest of the day. To add, my son will NOT get on a zoom call. So her zoom calls were with me. She charged me instead of my insurance because she wasn’t “speaking to the patient” this woman doesn’t care about her patients and is all about the money! Do not waste your time and money on this woman.

I am sharing an awful experience I had with Dr. Tayyabs office that I believe others should be aware of before seeking assistance there. I made a telehealth appointment with Dr. Tayyab to seek help dealing with the isolation and depression many are experiencing amid the stress of the coronavirus pandemic. I had checked with my insurance in advance to make sure the visit was covered, and it was. So I went ahead and had the appointment and was prescribed an anti-depressant. On the very next business day, I got a call from Dr. Tayyabs billing department essentially shaking me down. I was told that in order to make a follow-up (and get a refill of the medication Id just started), Id have to pay out of pocket right now because my insurance wont pay. Confused by this, since Id already gotten the visit pre-approved with my insurance, I explained that the deductible I would normally have with my insurance had been waived by my employer in light of the pandemic. The woman from Dr. Tayyabs billing department was not at all receptive to this and did not seem to care, again insisting I pay out of pocket and claiming my insurance would not pay.I soon found out from my insurance company that Dr. Tayyabs office had not even bothered billing my insurance company before trying to shake me down, apparently trying to bypass the whole insurance billing process. When they finally did bill them, my insurance company did pay, as promised, but it was already too late for me to get a follow-up appointment in time for a refill of my meds. So think about that: in the middle of a global pandemic, the office of a doctor whose job it is is to help people, tried to shake down a person struggling with depression. They left me sobbing on the floor for a good hour that day trying to figure out how id pay for this appointment that had already been pre-approved by my insurance when as a single parent, I already had to worry about feeding my kid. Do not go to this office if you want actual help - from my experience, they will make everything worse.

I really feel that Dr. Tayyab doesn’t listen to her patients, and already knows what she plans to do before they walk in the door. I’ve made it very clear several times that certain medications I’m on either affect me negatively, or don’t address bigger issues I have, and I have yet to have a change in prescription for a year now.

Dr. tayyab has offered the hands down worst experience I have ever had and completely made me distrust/be extremely hesitant towards psychiatrists ever since she treated me. She gave me a prescription knowing that side effects included depression for people under 18 and didn’t tell me that at all, and when I had told her how I was feeling worse she never bothered to mention changing that prescription. Whenever my parents or I had brought up the issues we had with the high school I attended she would argue against very strongly citing her own experiences and furthermore would COMPARE me to her much more successful children?? These arguments between her and my parent would often take up most of the sessions... When I had a severe episode BECAUSE of my prescription that led to self harm she gave NO concern to my mental health and simply said “why would you do that? That can cause liver damage” as if I cared about my liver let alone life at all! Not to mention, as other reviews have, that she seems to show no emotion to patients problems and it just feels like your being a big burden... Please, if you want actual help do not go to her, I wouldn’t even recommend my enemies to her...

Had a consult since our previous Dr left his practice. All I can say is her bedside manor left a lot to be desired. You are in a profession to help people and that appears to be the last thing she wants to do.

I called the pharmacy on Thursday to refill my sons anxiety meds. Dr.Tayyab prescribed a 10 day refill. I called the office immediately to tell them that my insurance wouldnt cover a 10 day supply. The receptionist said I will try to get a hold of Dr. Tayyab. This was Friday. The pharmacy sent her a fax on Saturday still nothing. So now I have to pay out of pocket for the pills so my son has his meds. The receptionist said she wouldnt refill a 30 day cause she is concerned we wouldnt make our follow up appointment with her in 10 days. Seriously, my son is on 2 other meds that will need refilling at that time. Honestly, I believe she is all about the money and has no concern for my sons well being.

I used to love Dr Shazia Tayyab, but I have since found out that she is all about the money or I guess not about the money. I was a patient of hers for over 3 years and stopped seeing her in 2014. The only reason I left was because of insurance. I lost my insurance at the end of 2017, and have been without medicine for over 9 months, and i called to see if she would see me and I would pay on my credit card in full when I see her. Donna at the office, who was nice on the phone, told me Dr. Tayyab was not taking new patients at the time and I was dumbfounded that she referred me to another clinic in Vernon Hills. I guess my mental illness is not that important to them and my money isnt good to them. Also, I am not a new patient, i would have been a former patients that had a 3 year relationship with and had always paid my copay. Dr. Tayyab is all about the money. To schedule a 5 minute appointment with her is 110 dollars, and the first 15 minute visit is 275 dollars. so just to put that into perspective she vales herself at 1100 to 1300 an hour. Go to another office, because Dr. Tayyab and counseling connections do not value your business, they just want another target to charge insurance.
