Pettengill Academy has been the daycare and center for learning that our daughter and family needed. They have been instrumental in her development, and have been kind, reliable, and responsive with us and with our daughter. When our daughter first started at PA, she had significant speech delays. We worried with how she would do with her growth and development, but with PA she has flourished and is incredibly bright. She knows a lot of impressive things that I know we didn’t teach her, so it must have been them! She gets to play outside when the weather is nice enough and is given freedom to socialize and play while still benefitting from a consistent routine. PA works hard to provide quality lunches and snacks that are not only good for her, but expand her limited palate. They’ve worked with us through potty training and have never once made us feel bad about our kiddo “getting it” later than a lot of kids her age.PA has also handled the pandemic with grace, professionalism, and decisiveness. They put numerous controls in place to ensure their families and kiddos stayed safe and well and did everything they could to remain open as long as it didn’t jeopardize the wellness of the kids and staff. PA was my saving grace during the pandemic. Thanks to them, my husband and I were both able to continue working with very little interruption due to childcare. I know many parents who cannot say the same.I am so, so grateful for PA. If you’re looking for a daycare with all the conveniences of a larger business but the individualized care of a small daycare, this is a great place for you and your family to check out.

We love Pettengill Academy— and so does our baby! There’s always a smile on her face when we drop her off with her teachers and friends. The teachers go above and beyond— we love the updates and photos they send in the app as well as our growing collection of footprint art showing how our baby has grown in her time there. They’ve helped her become a good eater and I love leaving her somewhere where she is genuinely cared about. I don’t think we could have found a better place for our baby.

My child has attended from infancy to preschool age and he loves it there! He still talks about old teachers from the younger classrooms because they made such a positive impression on him. It’s his home away from home and he’s excited to attend every day.

Picking a place to send your children is never easy but I was so happy that someone recommended Pettengill Academy to me! I love them so much that they were one of the first people I told when I was pregnant with my second child as I couldnt imagine sending my kids anywhere else. Chantel and Zack are always thinking about the families and how they can best serve them which means they have been flexible with this ever changing world that we live in. I could never thank them enough for the care they provide my boys and I wont know what to do when my kids are old enough for school and leave them.

Im very pleased with the environment they provide for children. My 3 year old has been attending for about 5 months. She is infinitely happier and thrives in big group dynamics, which they provide. The communication is excellent between you, the director and the teacher, regardless of COVID 19. This is a big upgrade from our previous daycare. I also really applaud their efforts of teaching. The Montessori style is very beneficial to young children. Highly recommend this school!

We changed from a simple at home daycare to Pettengill Academy when our son turned 3 and we wouldn’t turn back. Our son has gained so many skills, social and academic. We enjoy the app they use to relay day to day for our kiddo - from what he’s eating, his mood, and pictures! The owners are responsive to our sons needs and ours as parents. Our son is excited everyday we drop him off and it’s a breath of fresh air.

Our daughter (13 months old) loves Pettengill Academy! All the staff clearly know the kids well and care for them like they are all a part of a big family. The communication is excellent even when we all have to take extra precautions and distance in the pandemic. We trust that she is safe and happy and thriving in her care - we get regular updates through the app and its clear that she loves being dropped off and is often sad to stop playing at the end of the day. Highly recommended!

I do highly recommend Pettengill Academy for anyone new joining! My son was at a previous day care, and he would come home with bite marks on his arms, and scratches on his face, and it seemed like nothing was being done about it. This concerned me greatly. Now that we have come to Pettengill Academy, I feel I dont have to worry about this now. They post what they do during the day and have a real good schedule with a healthy lunch they serve. You can also communicate anytime you need to.

It’s a nice positive professional facility. In terms of growth and development; My kids came home different in a positive outlook their first day. It’s a wonderful place with a system for kids of all ages to grow and develop while having fun. Their Hi Mamma app keeps you up to date throughout the day and can be used to communicate with staff. I feel my girls are in good hands here and they constantly keep progressing.

I enrolled my daughter into Pettengill Academy two months ago, after calling them and getting positive responses, along with a virtual tour I felt like this was a good place to bring her. They even let me bring her in three days early for a few hours to get a feel for it before I had to go back to work, which was very comforting to me. The staff are very friendly and I love the app they use that keeps me updated throughout the day. The app also lets me speak to the teachers working with my daughter directly and theyre always quick to respond! I feel confident that my daughter is well taken care of while in their care :)

I have a family member that used PA for their children. They had a horrible experience which made me uncomfortable hearing, let alone consider my own two children attending. When certain actions were questioned there was no proof even though they utilize video. If nothing happened, why would there be anything to cover up by not releasing video footage.

Both mommy and child approved for this family. 👍🏽

My husband and I are teachers in the Lewiston community, and we are very selective with the adults we trust to care for our children. Pettengill Academy has been our regular daycare for over three years now, and we are so happy with our experience. The owners, teachers, and staff go above and beyond to create a safe and loving learning environment for all ages.My youngest daughter has severe allergies with an EPI pen and PA has always been accommodating to this. We also appreciate the communication app that they use, so we can feel connected to our children throughout the day. They send pictures and updates to let us know about daily activities, naps, food, etc.My family highly recommends Pettengill Academy to anyone and everyone. We are so happy to be part of the PA family. :)

What kind of daycare terminates children because they had covid. Beyond disgusted with how people react over a pandemic that no one can control. You should be ashamed of yourself. You act like your place is the only one who had to deal with this because you closed for 2 days big woop look at people who have closed for good because of this pandemic but dont sit there and blame the parents. What kind of place sends a one message email and ends a 4 year realsonship with a child.I hope this goes viral and everyone know what type of people you are. SMH

My daughter has been going here since she was 10 weeks old and I can’t recommend them enough! She has so much fun, loves all the teachers and can’t wait to go each day. Do not send your children here. Employees do not report abuse in fear of losing their jobs. Shortly after I left this daycare, a former teacher reached out to me. She said my 1 year old daughter was verbally and physically abused while at Pettengill. I reached out to other teachers there and I received confirmation from two other teachers that this was true. I asked for video footage of the room and was told it was deleted. Employees were told to remove me from Facebook as I had friended many teachers there. A state investigation was done and nothing came of it.I trust the three employees who told me about the abuse. Do not trust Pettengill Academy.

The team Chantel has put together is unmatched in comparison to other childcare providers Ive seen. They truly care about your child as if he/she was their own. I started bringing my son at 5 months and the two short months I had him there I was beyond impressed. (We took him out due to Covid paranoia) although I never once had a doubt in my mind because Chantel enforced a strict policy and adapted to all state demands as soon as she heard. The best part, she always kept us updated online. My son showed great improvement on his social anxiety while there & that was one of the biggest reasons I enrolled him. And the staffs support and accommodation for my every 2 hr visits to breast feed, were so very appreciated. Gigi worked effortlessly to try and help me get my son on a bottle and her continued patience and pure love was memorable. I will be enrolling my son again once things calm down, covid wise. I wouldnt bring him anywhere else!!Oh & @ Ashley Alden. Pretty sure your child hasnt been enrolled in over 2 years, and it was properly investigated. let dead dogs sleep.

My daughter has been going to PA since she was 13 weeks old (she is 2 now). She has had very caring and nurturing teachers in every room she has been in. Any time I have had a concern Chantel has immediately responded and made adjustments if necessary. I get live updates and lots of pictures throughout the day. My daughter gets excited when we pull in to the parking lot in the morning and has lots to tell me about all the things they did that day when I pick her up.

My child has been attending PA for about six months now, and I have been very happy with the care we have received there.Chantel and Zack are down to earth, adaptable, responsive, and very kind. The staff is wonderful, always ready with a smile, and helpful. My child gets excited when we get out of the car in front of PA, and is quite content to be left with friends for the day. I appreciate that the staff seems genuinely happy to see my kiddo. They communicate well and quickly with me. We are enrolled part time, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that there is flexibility should the need arise here and there for additional days.Family-owned and run is much better than the poor experience that I had with a corporate daycare. Overall, I would choose PA again in heartbeat.

My son has gone to Pettengill for almost 4 years. He was previously at a local daycare which was not meeting his needs or mine. We made the decision to switch to Pettengill and we have been amazed with the care he has received. They have also enlisted this value in their staff which is inviting

I have worked at Pettengill Academy for almost 2 years now, both my children also attend school there. Chantel and Zack are two of the easiest people to work for. Most understanding, generous people Ive ever met. With my son being born early and in and out of the hospital they were more concerned about my son then me coming into work, not like other bosses Ive had in the past. They care deeply about their employees and their students who attend school there. Me and my children love them, and are so thankful for them! My daughter looks forward to daycare every day to see her teachers and friends. And everyone is always happy to see both kids. Everyone is more like family then coworkers and bosses.

My son (now 2 and a half years old) has been in child care at Pettengill Academy for almost a year now. I wanted to take time to let others searching for care know how exceptional this organization has been, in regards to a holistic care approach, quality food provided, striving for a strong connection with families and the greater community, and the constant effort to improve care / operations by working off of feedback from parents and staff. My son LOVES his teachers, looks forward to going to daycare each of the three days a week that he is enrolled, and has learned so much from the thoughtfully planned curriculum and his experiences while there. In the toddler classrooms, the days are structured to a degree I feel very comfortable with. Kids this age thrive off of routine and Pettengill has really found a balance of structure and free play. Outdoor play is prioritized, weather-permitting, and the big, open gym area is a great space for the kiddos to get exercise and engage all their energy.Potty training is greatly supported in the toddler rooms, and my son has excelled from early on with all the help from his teachers. Nap times are a soothing environment, with comfy cots and blankets provided for everyone.Overall, I was nervous to get back to work and put my son in the care of a business style provider, but I have only been impressed. Pettengill, while growing in numbers, only feels more like family the longer we are there. Im so thankful for their service and general presence in our community! This place sets the standard of care.

Pettengill Academy is hands down the best facility for our family. It’s difficult to find a daycare that has hours matching the times we need childcare and PA is conveniently opened for exactly when we need them. On the days they close, staff are educated on new ideas and techniques to make the day easier for the children that are enrolled there. They practice team building activities and use these days for education and development. My son has been enrolled for over a year and has learned so much from the time he has spent there. He adores his teachers, friends, and other parents there. Zack and Chantel have made my post partum separation anxiety much easier with their open and welcoming communication while also ensuring me that my son was having a great day everyday. The teachers they employ are always cheerful and professional while making you feel like family. I am so comfortable sending my child to PA for the day because he always comes home happy and with a new piece of art work for our fridge. Our family recommends PA to anyone who wants to be part of a daycare that is so much more than a daycare. PA is an incredible childcare and learning facility and we are so lucky to be part of it!

Pettengill Academy is one of the best daycares I have ever encountered. My youngest who was attached to my hip (literally never left my side) for over a year started there at about 13 months and is now 3 years old. Not only do they ensure she feels loved and comforted especially in the beginning with a very difficult transition but now still when she has rough days. She has a rare condition called EOE which they were very accommodating to in terms of strict random diet changes which I can say are not easy to work around. They ensure all food for the kids are fresh and even make their own puree baby food for the tiny ones. They have never made me feel less than even when I was a bit behind on my payments or on days I was running a bit late. The owners are always very kind and respectful and truly care about my daughter despite there being so many kids. They treat her like an individual and have ensured that each teacher she has had is kind caring and responsible. With many classrooms for each age group special attention is always showed to each child. The communication is amazing and my daughter is always making fun crafts and learning new things each day. Even from just over a year old my daughter would come home with beautiful keepsakes that I will cherish forever that included her foot and handprints in such unique ways as well as my favorite a string of measuring her exact length tied to a Christmas ornament with the cutest saying about how much she is loved and loves me. Going in at a young age it was thought she had developmental issues however within just a couple weeks her learning and development had increased by 150% I recommended a friend to them and her daughter who wasnt very verbal began speaking full sentences within 2 weeks of being in the 3 year old classroom. The facility is extremely clean and sanitary preventing any mass sicknesses as much as you can with kids who put everything in their mouths haha. I never worry if my daughter is taken care of or if she is safe because I know the staff and owners have a genuine interest in her well being as a whole. While I realize this review is very long I cannot say enough great things about this childcare facility. As parents we all worry if our children are truly cared for when we leave them with others for 6-8 hours a day and rightfully so with all the things we hear in the media. There are so many daycares out there that claim to be safe and great but I can truly say Pettengill Academy is amazing and I would recommend them to any and every parent out there without a doubt.

Im hate to have to give a review like this but i cant be ok with this on my conscience...i went there to see about enrolling my infant in their daycare program and while the people were nice i just didnt get a gpod feeling about the place.i think theyre really under staffed especially in the infant and toddler 1 to 2yrs...i asked whats ur protocol on when a baby is crying...and the lady told me...oh they get use to it.Really!?!?wow.infants and babies 1 to 2 especially INFANTS dont cry for nothing.they usually NEED something like a changed Diaper! or to be FED!or even to be coddled.could also have a upset stomach.so hell no my baby isnt going to sit there screaming her head off for Any of these reasons, and no1 tend to her!thats insane to me.oh shell get use to it...like nothing!uh No she wont.thats unaccacptable to me.so during the walk thru i saw infants laying there screaming and only 2 adults to tend to them when there was like 8 babies.i kust wanted to pick them up and hold them soo bad.i felt really sad for the babies there.so i continue to walk thru to the next room 1 tp 2 yrs...and the little 1s r eating in the dark!and sitting in those little booster eating chairs on the floor.i also saw one of the workers trying to tend to a child that was really upset and she kept trying to force her to lay down by laying her on her belly and whem sje tried getting up she kept moving her arms from underneath her to prevent her from getting up and pushing her head down!!!it wasnt until she made eye contact with me that she actually picked her up to try and coddle her as she then was able to calm down...this is completely unacceptable!on sp many levels they need MORE and better staff.atleast BETTER training put in place Aswell as more staff!Hey there Lanna here...i just want to reply i spoke with some1 1time after i did a walk thru and what point would it make to say something to the person we did a walk thru with...they might not say anything about it or even think in their mind that theres anything wrong with that...and no 8 babies to 2 adults while theres screaming infants that no1s really tending to cuz theyre busy with other infants in need is unaccaptable.,and so whatever Maines state legal regulations r doesnt make it right.or acceptable.,and so the bare minimum is ok to u?!?its not ok for me n my child

Pettengill Academy has been great for my daughter. She started there almost 2 years ago at age 3 and really loves it. She loves it so much she doesn’t want to go to leave for Kindergarten in the fall. Chantel & Zack work very hard to accommodate parent schedules. They are always there when I drop my daughter off and they are always there when I pick her up after 9 ½ hours. Oftentimes they spend weekends doing improvements to the facility. They truly care about the kids and their employees. When schools and most daycares are closed due to weather, they make every effort to be open as much as possible while also being mindful of their employees traveling in dangerous conditions. Most daycares take 2-3 weeks off and every holiday. PA only takes 1 full week off per year. They are even open the day after Christmas! They also offer healthy & nutritious lunches. Chicken nuggets are made from real chicken and breaded, not processed. I also appreciate that they don’t push children into doing things they aren’t ready for. PA has been a great place for preparing toddlers for school with their pre k program. I’m amazed at the things my daughter already knows and learned while at PA. Communication is very important and the sticker charts are such a great way to learn how my daughter’s day went. It’s like a daily report card and I’m really pleased this was implemented. Overall, my daughter loves going to Pettengill Academy “aka school”.
