Extremely happy with Physical Therapy. They worked me where I went from totally bedridden to able to pull myself up, take a few steps worked the parallel bars to give me confidence in knowing I’ll be able to walk again. Cannot thank them enough for giving me my life back where I can go home to be with my family. Forever grateful. Ken & Laurie Rogers

This is the best place to take your parents if you don’t love them. My mom was sent here for rehabilitation she was dressed in other peoples clothes she was itchy all the time somebody stole all her products that we bought for her. My mom asked to go to the hospital and we listen to the nurse who said my mom was fine she gave her something but mom insisted on going to the hospital, the nurse insisted that mom not go. We listen to the nurse. Now our mom is in heaven. I could show you pictures and video of the treatment my mom received but I can’t . All I can say is research this place before putting your parents here my mother did not make it out and she was a strong woman she must have suffered something 😢 awful when we left her alone in this facility. I wouldn’t give this post a star you have to give them a star so you they can post your review. How shameful.

This review is for my experiences with PT/OT. I was not a good patient in the beginning. I cried and screamed. In spite of that they were stern in getting me to accept the therapy, but they were also supportive. There was always words of encouragement to help me to improve. They suggested I get a brace for my foot that had drop foot. Once I got that I was so much more confident. I just hope when I go home I will have the same experiences with my in home therapists.

My mother has spent almost six weeks in this place, The staff is very nice but not trained nor suitable to take care of the elderly. I called my mother every day and everyday I heard another horror story, from having excrement smeared all over the bathroom and having staff argue about cleaning it up. To being hooked into a iv for hours after the meds have completed and having it beep very loudly. Place was dirty and understaffed, I wouldnt send my pets there let alone my mother. She went to her ortho half way through her her stay and they gave her another script for PT and never actually received more PT. They sent her home with no instructions or any information about getting home aid or physical therapy, so now her recovery is slowed even more due to incompatence at Statesman. The front handicapped doors dont even work properly. If you are reading this do your self a favor and do not sign up for a stay at Statesman.

I worked here as a nurse assistant this past summer and had a great experience. The staff were all very friendly and always willing to accommodate residents. What made it great working here was the willingness of the staff to help each other out. As a nurse assistant there are a lot of tasks that are easier when people work together and people here were always willing to do so. Additionally, the management in the building was very keen on constant improvements. Everyday we would have morning meetings and they would pick one topic for us to work on improving. Overall I made many great connections with both the staff and residents and would have stayed there if I didn’t have to go back to school at Penn State.

Post COVID has been very difficult for my mother here. I don’t know if it is due to staff changes or what but she is very unhappy and constantly complaining about being bullied and teased by the nurses and staff. I am very disappointed and frustrated as I cannot currently visit her to address the staff directly. Treatment of patients is much different when family cannot be there to supervise their care and advocate for them. Currently very upset about her care and lack of compassion by the staff. My mother has been a resident in A-wing at Statesman since mid-April 2019. From day 1 ALL of the staff has been really, really great. Any family with a loved one in nursing care wants nothing more than for that person to be well cared for, attended to, and comfortable. It has taken many months for my mom to heal and stabilize, each and everyone of those days the staff at Statesman have worked to help her through it all. Im thankful that I dont need to worry anymore, thankful she is safe and in good hands. With that said, I also feel its the family members responsibility to be present, engage the staff and be appreciative for them doing the job you cant do. If you communicate openly and respectfully, your loved one will appreciate it. Thank you to all the staff, keep doing what you are doing to help our loved ones!

The rehab and nursing teams click with each other and that says a lot about this place in order to provide the best care possible for our patients. The administrator always listens to your needs or concerns. You just know that she cares for your total well being and not just push people to working more hours and be stressed out. As a former employee at this facility, I can say that the care given and shown by the staff is exceptional. The administration team is always available to the clients and their families. They take every concern very seriously and work extremely hard to resolve the concerns in a timely manner. The nursing staff treat the clients like family, taking true interest in their care and in their recovery. I have watched the rehab team take a young man on a vent and tube feeding who most felt that was as good as he was going to get and work diligently with his program. We had a relative move into Statesman in late summer 2017and still resides at the facility. We were apprehensive about selecting Statesman based on previous reviews, but the location allowed us frequent visits to monitor care. In order to truly provide an objective review, we believe you need to ask yourself : “do I want anyone in my family in a nursing home at all?” Most of us are very skeptical about that life changing event because of rumors and bad reviews on the facilities. However, no one can provide the best care for a family member other than another family member and that means being dedicated to sacrificing a certain lifestyle amongst other things for an undetermined period of time. Our initial struggles over the first seven months with the facility were the inconsistencies in care among all the shifts, the quality of the people caring for our family member, and the general “ambience” of the facility. However, since the facility was taken over by Saber coupled with the facility manager taking a very dedicated approach to changing the culture and perceptions of the facility, we are pleased with the changes. The consistency between the shifts has stabilized, the quality of the personnel has changed to a more caring and attentive staff, and the cleanliness of the facility has improved. Let’s face it – care for any resident is a partnership between the family and the facility. That team needs to be focused on and implementing the same care plan for their loved one. We can say that the changes made have us believing that we are more of a team now than before. Make no mistake that work still remains to be done, but they are on the right path to establishing a better organizational culture. The respiratory staff has provided excellent care from the very beginning. The new physical therapy staff is more responsive and attentive. The new group of RNs and CNAs merged nicely with those who remained during the transition to the Saber Health Group. You can see the conscious effort to change Statesman to a place where better care and living conditions for the residents is the primary focus. Each resident has their own personal care needs and you need to remember that it is a partnership and not a substitute for the care a family could provide.

I was a patent here. After a long time in ICU I was transferred here on a ventilator. I spent about seven weeks working my way back. Statesman is full of kind, caring professionals. The respiratory personnel were fantastic. They stayed and helped and checked on me and explained so many things. Almost everyone in PT and OT gave full effort and kindness and patience. Theresa was amazing and Chester really listened and directed well. The food was usually good and the cook, staff and servers were friendly and helpful. The activity persons were kind and fun and tried to involve everyone. The facility was not new but it was cleaned and the facilities manager was top notch. The dining room and lounge and grounds were pleasant. The nurses were good, most very much cared. I felt like they were mostly overburdened but trying hard. Some of the CRNs were amazing, most of them were helpful. There are always a few bad apples but they were by far, not the norm and management seemed to work hard on issues once noticed. This place felt ver much like a family, people went out of their way, even the laundry personnel. Some of these jobs are difficult and thankless. I walked out on my own two feet. See for yourself. I largely had a good experience but its not fun to be working hard in a rehab. This one worked for me!

We have Bingo 3-4 times a week, arts and crafts, cooking, entertainers, special events, birthday parties and monthly outings. Recently we had a wedding vow renewal for 4 of our residents and their spouses complete with a wedding reception. Residents, staff, families and friends were all in attendance. It was beautiful. Just this past weekend we toured PHS prior to their Yo, Philly prom. Another hit with our residents. The building looks especially festive right now with our Spirit of America decorations up. We are a community-based organization and work with many from the community. Statesman----my second family. There is a reason that I (and several other employees) have worked at this facility for 20+ years.......Its the wonderful patients, family members and employees that I interact with daily. There is something to be said for the complexity of patients we care for at this facility. Many patients come to us from out of town because no other facility can address their needs. I am so proud to be a part of the Rehabilitation Department as I have seen several patients who were admitted on a ventilator unable to walk, speak, eat or care for themselves, walk out of here breathing on their own, eating by mouth, speaking and gaining independence again. Ive seen our Respiratory Therapy Department wean patients from the ventilator who were deemed unweanable. Lastly, and most importantly, Ive seen the relationships that have developed between the staff and the patients, as well as their family members, that make our atmosphere extra special, homey, loving, and fun.

At first this facility seemed like a really nice place to work for. After applying for a full time position and going through a drug screen, having a botched ppd test done, and asking all my questions the director of nursing offered me a position. Not the position I thought I was applying for, she was only offering me every other weekend with only a five day orientation. So basically I was very disappointed and wrote a polite email declining her offer. It was very upsetting she did not have the professionalism or the courtesy to email me back after the traveling, time, and the missed work from my current employer. I can only hope the patients and their families get answers when they have concerns and in the very least a response. Not to mention the orientation for staff is only five days long which is pretty scary for people they are trying to hire for only every other weekend. Would not recommend this place for a place of employment.
