For many years I searched for a neurologist who not only listened, but had compassion. A neurologist who was more focused on each individuals needs and not blanket care that was one size fits all. Rowe Neurology went above and beyond to find the correct diagnosis. Their staff is great and I will never trust my neurological care to anyone else.

Im puzzled by some of the negative reviews. I had no trouble scheduling appointments. All phone calls were returned promptly. The patient portal works beautifully for communication with the Institute once you are a patient. I strongly recommend using the patient portal! When I requested that my records be sent elsewhere for a second opinion regarding neurosurgery (which Dr. Rowe supported), all of my records were faxed the same day I made the request. My experience with the Institute was very positive. Staff members, doctors, and technicians were all friendly, responsive, and professional. All procedures were explained clearly. Dr. Rowe is highly knowledgeable, patient, and kind. Yes, I had several tests but how else do complex symptoms get understood? Id be very uncomfortable with a diagnosis that wasnt in part determined by objective data.

When the disease advanced more rapidly than expected Rowe did another thorough examination trying to determine the cause. I wouldnt go to anybody else.

Super long wait times and I have yet to speak with anyone on the phone who is polite. I have been cut off on the phone several times and been treated unprofessionally. However that being said Dr. Rowe doesn’t just write you a script and send you on your way which I like. He does try to get to the bottom of the problem. Better office management is definitely needed, less over scheduling and maybe hire a couple people who actually like working with the public.

In my experience, quality of patient care has gone down in the past 2 years, Dr. Rowe is always out and if youre required to be seen by a doctor or your prescription requires a doctor signature you can never be sure when youll have to wait on the doctor being to be back in the office. Theres no notification or anything regarding the doctor being out, you just find out when you contact the doctors office and then youre out of luck.

I came in for shoulder pain and numb left fingers and was told one eye was bigger than the other one and that I could use a sleep study? Then I took a battery of tests...some of which needed to be repeated by another neurologist because the equipment Rowe uses is lower quality. My impression...find a better provider...Johnson County Neurology was a breath of fresh air...very accommodating and seemingly more knowledgeable. Also, regardless if you have insurance or not, they still require 50% of the expected cost to be paid by you. I know of no one else that requires that.

We came here after 2 other Neurology Doctors didnt do any testing and just went by a quick exam to diagnose my mother. Here they are very thorough and doing what they can to get to the diagnosis that is backed by testing. I have no problem with doing the tests to really know what is wrong and how to make sure the medication is correct. The doctors and staff have been nothing but super nice and helpful.

UPDATED: I still stand by everything said below. It is now the end of June and began my process on getting my sleep issues taken care of in February. All I have to show for it is more than $3,000 in expenses and two sleep study results. No one answers the phone when you need it, and you are just a dollar sign to them. Please consider going elsewhere.Wish I would have done more research before going here. As many have echoed, there are several similar issues Ive dealt with.1. I initially reached out via email and telephone on a weekday. and they say you should hear back in 24 hours. I didnt hear back from them until I called a second time a week later. They blamed my phone number but not my emails.2. Their billing practices are incredibly shady. After meeting with Dr. Rowe who was very personable, we talked about some tests to run and due to a unique condition I have, he asked if they could do a free test on me as well. The next thing that happens is billing comes in with a bill of more than $2000 of recommended tests. And they requested payment up front even though I had insurance. They said they could take 50 percent up front and the rest later. Well after it went through insurance I didnt owe anything. So why are they requesting full payment up front ?3. At home study wasnt accurate enough so I called to schedule in lab. Was told I could be scheduled Friday that week. Received a confirmation email but the date was of a previous visit I had. Assumed nothing of it. Showed up to the study and the nurse looked at me like I was nuts. They booked me a week later than discussed.4. Finally had the study and its been more than two weeks with no results and not correspondence. Ive called multiple times with no response. Meanwhile I have been having miserable sleep since I started this process at the end of February.Im already committed to finishing the process here but may consult elsewhere for treatment if need be. If you have sleep issues, I strongly suggest somewhere else.

You have to wait, but you understand when he is with you that you have his full and undivided attention. I went to 3 Neurologists before I found one I trusted. The other 2 dismissed me without an exam, but Dr. Rowe took the time and finally found my diagnosis.I also went through his sleep lab, something I hate to do, but have to because of my sleep apnea. I have been to many sleep labs in my day, but this is the first one that I felt comfortable and was able to sleep. The staff was so gentle and gracious, I felt at home. Very professional and the room and bed was clean and comfortable.Add to that on-site MRI and lab, it is a great one stop shop with great customer service and quality care.

As a patient with multiple sclerosis it was very important for me to find a doctor who take time to listen and address all my concerns to provide the best treatment. Dr. Rowe and his staff have been taking excellent care of me for 3 years now. Even though it is bit of a long drive from where I live I cant imagine ever going anywhere else. They do their own in-house testing and imaging on site at The Institute which means faster results and lower prices. The only negative thing I have to say is it can be very difficult to get in contact with them over the phone. It is usually faster to use their online patient porthole to schedule appointments or talk to a nurse on staff and sometimes it can take a while before they get back to you. You often have to schedule appointments way in advance because they are are so busy but keep in mind they are busy for a reason. My primary care physician recommended dr. Rowe because he is the best multiple sclerosis specialists in the region.

If I could give this a zero star, I would. This place is awful from the care, to the outsourced/divorced billing practices. Regarding billing, I was supposed to be charged a walk-in price of less than $800 (my ins. would not be billed), but instead they tried to refund part of the walk-in payment I had already made and then engaged in a highly suspicious billing practices with UHC (my carrier), initially invoicing an outrageous amount of over $38k to UHC for what originally was priced an $800 piece of care. My ins. Co then paid them over $1500 to which they originally denied and later found it. Ive been trying for weeks to get to the bottom of the billing aspect but their outsourced billing team makes this very difficult -- they keep giving me inaccurate info, unsupported invoices that I think they make up on their computer, phone numbers to which no one attends/answers, and its been a months long game of phone tag. Additionally, they refuse to answer basic questions over email such as what date(s) of care their records show. Beyond that, this was the worst nights sleep and worst health care experience I can ever recall. The person attending to me had horrible breath and woke me up constantly. UHC is investigating them.

Dr. Rowe is AMAZING and that is why I am giving 5 stars. He literally spent TWO hours on my initial consultation. Ive never had a Dr. spend more than 30 minutes on me, and that is even being billed as a level 5 patient!I have faith that after all the testing hes ordered, he will have answers for me FINALLY because he CARES to take the time. He even reviewed my MRI and told me the TRUTH that other doctors lied about and those doctors had said to me that nothing is wrong (even though I am in constant pain and I know that something is wrong!!)Dr. Rowe literally sat there in front of me with my scans pulled up on the screen and walked thru and showed me everything and told me all the issues in my back and spine. He noticed my skin issues, my off gait, my reflexes and weakness. All my other doctors have always written off all these issues instead of tying them all together and going Hmmm all this stuff might just be related to one big problem! Ding ding duh ya think?!! Im so glad I finally found a smart one... Im so sick of all these dummy doctors. There is a reason I drive 45 minutes over state line to see him. He is a wonderful doctor!

Also, I had asked about getting Botox and at the time, I didnt know it could take a month to get approval, so I was very frustrated because to me it seemed like they were dragging their feet. I only found out that insurance approval for Botox can take so long when I went to see another neurologist. If they had simply communicated that there would be a wait due to insurance I wouldnt have gotten upset and left. Although, I should have left as soon as they tried prescribing the drug Im allergic to (it was on my chart)

I went here once and will not be going back. All of their treatment options are very expensive and they only want their imaging. I had recent imaging from another neurologist but they insisted I needed more. I finally found a GP at my doctors office that has been treating headaches for twenty years and they have been better managed under him than two of the three neurologists Ive seen, simply because he listens and treats accordingly. At RNI, they dont listen, they just tell. Every single staff member I saw there from admin to nurse to Dr. Rowe told me what I needed without taking the time to listen to my concerns or medical history.

I would not refer anyone to Rowe Neurology. I spent an entire week doing daily regimens of testing that according to them had to be done ASAP in an attempt to find out what was causing my seizures. My follow up review was cancelled multiple times due to over booking on their part. Finally at the end of a month with no results and another call from them to reschedule I said forget this. $12,000 worth of tests, no answers or results and a request for additional tests for something irrelevant to my seizures (sleep study for a sleep disorder because they found out my insurance would pay for an in depth study. Not what I went there for by the way) and I had them send my results to my primary care Dr. so maybe I would know what the results actually were! I compare this place to a puppy mill for Neurology patients. If youve got the money and the insurance approval available theyll keep testing you even if you dont need it. Pathetic excuse! Now almost a year later the only thing my primary care Dr. could get out of their notes were........ya ready for this........I have moderate to severe carpal tunnel in both wrists! lol Really? And that helps my seizures that I went there for how? BEWARE!

As an RN I know 1 or 2 things about assessments, this was very thorough. And a Nurse Practitioner took notes of all the MEASUREMENTS, yes measurements. Real evidenced based medical practice. This was important to me as I was seeking an alternative to trying another drug. Then there were more appointments and more tests and more measurable results. As one test was being preformed the technician commented she was surprised I had never had this done before, I began to cry, I was thankful RNI was doing it.

I suppose Dr Rowe is nice enough, but this whole business is a racket. You need to use THEIR MRI and physical therapists, who, by the way, book out 2 to 3 months for your first appointment, so hopefully you are not in too much pain. The next neurologist I went to was unimpressed by the quality of the MRI-much lower resolution than imaging centers or hospitals. The doctors were quite rude and performed unnecessary tests, which my PCP warned me about. If I could give them zero stars I would. That is the first time in my life that I have been treated so poorly at a doctors office of any kind. Have told almost everyone I know to avoid this place.

I felt forced into scheduling and paying for a myriad of tests that were never explained to me. From reading the reviews, I found out Im not the only one. The next day I felt like I was falling for some type of scam, so I decided to cancel all 5 of my appointments and get my money back. When I called, no one ever answered. So I went on their portal to cancel, but the cancel function didnt work. So, I cancelled via the appointment function. I reveived a call. When I explained that I did not feel comfortable with the practice as a whole, Rose Eilts got rather defensive and tried convincing me Dr. Rowe was a world reknown doctor. I was given an appointment upon calling and was seen two days later. Dr Rowe appeared to be sincere and competent. My primary concern was my severe migraine headaches. I was informed that Dr Winegardner was the specialist to see. However, before seeing him, Dr Rowe ordered X-rays and a CT scan that could only be done in his office. He also told me that my fibromyalgia was atrash can diagnosis and that I had hyper mobility which could only be treated by the physical therapist in his office. He also said I needed a sleep study because he thought I had sleep apnea. I ended up having two sleep studies which said I had sleep apnea. I was ordered a c-pap machine. I was thoroughly tested by a reputable sleep doctor years ago who said I did not have sleep apnea. But I accepted Dr Rowes diagnosis because of his supposed expertise. It took nearly a month before I could see Dr Winegardner while my migraines continued, which was my primary concern. He was aggressive with medication but seemed to be just experimenting with drugs. He said he would see me in a month. When I went out to make my return appointment, I was informed the Dr Winegardner was leaving the practice and that patients were being referred to KU Med or St Lukes. He never mentioned that during the appointment. When I saw Dr Rowe for a follow up , he said it was probably a blessing that Dr Winegardner was leaving because my migraines would be relieved by c-pap and physical therapy done only at his office. I began researching this practice which I should have done in the first place. I found out that Dr Rowe is not respected by other neurologists at the premiere hospitals in Kansas City and that his sleep studies are considered to be invalid and just a ploy to make money. I have changed doctors and found out that my migraine medications were prescribed wrong. This clinic is designed to make money at the expense of peoples well being. Do not go here!!!!!

I had to get the results of the brain MRI from my PCP. I called the nurse at RNI to discuss follow up and she never even bothered to return my call. Still to this day, I have never heard from them and my brain MRI was 2 weeks ago. This is the worst care I have ever received from a provider especially with such a serious diagnosis.
