This is the safest place my Mom could possibly be, especially during the pandemic. Care is taken with each resident to address their specific needs. Staff stick to the current pandemic rules despite the additional workload it causes them. I feel that staff here truly care about my moms happiness!

The administrative staff at Franciscan Village has been extremely helpful in assisting my family transition our mother into the most comfortable apartment in their independent living facility. The accommodations are impeccable and the staff is always available to help residents navigate around their new surroundings to a point where they feel confident enough to be on their own. Our special thanks go out to Kerri Carney and Christine Weets for all they have done to make this process run smoothly. You can trust your elderly loved ones in the hands of the qualified staff at Franciscan Village.

I am a caregiver for one of the residents, and she, as well as, her husband treat me well. As a caregiver for the elderly, I too, am learning from them. I do not regret helping out the eldery men and women. I would recommend this facility to anyone who needs it. Every one is nice.

Our Dad was a resident at Mother Theresa Home within Franciscan Village. We were very pleased with the facility, staff and level of care that was provided. He has now moved closer to family, however, I would recommend this community.

My mother just had an open heart surgery, and while Franciscan village seems like a good place for elderly residence, it is absolutely not a good place for surgery after care. My mom had a large incision wound from her surgery, and Franciscan staff put her in a room that was right in the middle of their new construction. There was dust and dirt flying around in the air and ants by the furnace in her room. It was ridiculous, with ladders smacking down outside the door and missing half the ceiling. Maybe they should close the area for the construction. Now my mother is back at Loyola because she has a deep sternal wound infection, which is life threatening, and Im wondering if it was from the lax care and construction dirt everywhere. The specialty wound nurse diddnt even realize that her infection was serious. Most of the other nurses were short with me and dismissive. One nurse overnight named Paul was great with my mom, but thats about it. Ive never written a review in my life, but I dont want anyone to look at the five star reviews for this place and think their family member will be safe. My mom can barely speak, has a feeding tube in her nose, and they have to leave her chest open for a month to get rid of infection, and shes only 60 years old. Take your recovering family member somewhere else, please!!!

My mother recently stayed at the Mother Theresa Home at Franciscan Village for subacute rehab. The accomodations were fine, although somewhat dated. As far as the nursing staff, a few of them were wonderful and provided exceptional care. However, for the most part the nursing staff was not particularly responsive. There were times my mother rang for help and it never arrived. One nurse in particular was downright nasty and rude. We felt like we needed to be onsite with our mother the whole time in order to protect her from this woman. The rehab staff were all friendly and knowledgable and we felt the quality of the rehab our mother received was very good.

We had looked at several senior communities for Mom and Dad (who were 93 and 98 at that time). When we visited Franciscan Village, we were struck by how energetic, engaging, and welcoming the residents were and by how caring and compassionate the Staff were. It helped that the chapel was beautiful and would allow Dad to resume his attendance at daily Mass. The apartments were clean and attractive and affordable and leased on a monthly basis for no buy-in. This was very attractive to our parents who were not keen on this move to begin with. Theyd been in the home that theyd built for 56 years. PLUS, the options of Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing as they might become necessary were very attractive. In deference to our concern about the 4 flights of stairs in their home and Dads failing balance, the Administration offered Mom and Dad a smaller apartment until the larger one that they preferred became available. We moved them in on September 1.It was a challenging life transition, but made easier by the warmth, friendliness and compassion of residents and staff. Residents welcomed them immediately to their dinner table, to their games, to their conversations. Mom was elected to the Residents Board within 2 months of moving in!When Dad suffered a major stroke in March and moved into Mother Theresa, the skilled care nursing facility thats part of Franciscan Village, Mom was able to visit him whenever she wanted throughout the day or night. And passed the chapel each time so that she could say a prayer for him. And again, without exception, the folks who cared for Dad were kind and compassionate.Dads passing in early April made us even more grateful that we had found and chosen Franciscan Village. Mom was surrounded by love. A woman across the hall from their apartment knocked on Moms door to tell her that she was available night and day to listen to Moms stories because Mom needed to talk about Dad.This is the kind of people who live and work at Franciscan Village. Were very happy and very grateful that Mom and Dad moved to Franciscan Village. Mom is with friends on a daily basis. She can choose to participate in as many or as few activities as she likes (and there are LOTS!). And she made the move BEFORE she lost her life partner of 74 years so they were able to enjoy a few months together. This is a very lovely, loving place for people to enjoy all the time they have left!
