The MRI staff at KCOI is amazing. Jennie is so sweet, kind, understanding and helpful. Mark was caring and kind. The staff at this facility for check in are also helpful and kind. It was a good experience!!!

The front desk staff were nice and accommodating to my injury. The front desk receptionist even offered to store my crutches at the front desk and wheeled me in a wheel chair to see the doctor and physicians assistant.I needed to get an MRI done ASAP and they were able to accommodate that during the first day in urgent care which was awesome. I had to come back for the MRI late that afternoon, the radiologist tech seemed frustrated that I was in a wheel chair since she was the only tech person active that day. Unlike during the day she wasn’t as accommodating as the other nurses / techs they helped me with my boot and assisted me since I couldn’t move around well. Other than that it seems like you have to answer the same question for each separate department (little tiresome) in addition to this better communication between the each department could be better I felt like I was personally updating each department on my condition when it should be done internally.

Staff at the entry offered to push the wheelchair to location and front desk greeted me by name!? Dr Joyce & his very personable nurse are tops as always. Perhaps most impressive is the efficiency with which the visits are managed. Covid procedures are VERY much appreciated.

Had knee surgery with Dr Holloran. He did a great job. However, it is nearly impossible to get ahold of anyone on his staff via phone. If you have something urgent that needs his staffs attention dont expect it to be addressed till the next day or later.

Mother is post knee replacement and using a walker, still having trouble getting around and occasionally forgets things she is instructed or prescribed and this place would not allow me to go in to assist or listen to what the doctor told her. Out of three doctors appointments for my parents today this is the only one that would not allow me to assist them. Working in healthcare, this is not good care or doing what is best for the patient

I was able to schedule an MRI fairly quickly which was awesome to be able to get some answers relative to the extent of my Injury. Check in was easy and the tech got me in early for a long process. I talked to a doc in the hallways afterwards who was very interested in hearing my story. It was nice that everyone seemed to be really caring. I apologize for not getting his name.

Dr T. J. Rasmussen recently did a full right knee replacement arthroplasty for me. Ron Ross worked directly with me during pre op and the surgery and to my observation those two men truly work as a well oiled machine.Everything was explained every step of the way, I had plenty of time to ask questions and get clear answers. The surgery that they did for me involved less cutting of muscle tissue than a standard process (which was harder for them to do) and they patiently injected pain meds before closing up to make the initial days and hours easier and better. I was on my feet in a pair of shorts within hours.It may sound impossible, but it actually got better from there. The nursing staff was relaxed, friendly, attentive to my every need, it seemed like they anticipated my needs and were ready at a moments notice whenever I hit the call button. Nights were long and there was zero delay in responding to the call button and nobody ever made me feel like a burden. The entire time I observed the nursing team I kept thinking to myself how much fun they seemed to be having all the while doing their jobs in an efficient and prompt manner. Pain was managed sensibly in multiple ways to allow for a minimum of narcotics (I actually have only taken Tylenol and anti inflammatory so far, 3 days post op, but that could change). To top it all off, the nurses prepare the meals for you, truly whatever you feel like, whenever you feel like it. I had a roast beef sandwich for breakfast, what could be better than that?Janet oversaw my PT (Physical Therapy, but I like to call it Party Time!) - she pushed me to do what I needed to, was so calm and relaxed as she performed her duties. It was truly a pleasure to have her teach me about my body, how it was reacting, and how I could patiently progress towards my goal. We swapped stories and laughed a lot which is a painkiller in itself.My left knee will need to be replaced some time in the future there is not one thing that I would change my choice of surgeon or staff for that procedure whenever we determine it becomes a need.I dont do reviews normally but this team jumped so far out of the box that I had to write to acknowledge and appreciate seeing excellence in action. Thank you all!

My husband had a total right hip replacement,done by Dr.wergarter which was a empecable Dr.,the nurses were very friendly always willing to help, came to his room right away, Nurse Jeannie and Nurse Becky were absolutely amazing! these women need raises and praise for their empecable skills and their outstanding bed side manner! I hope you both get recognition for your hard work! we will forever be grateful! The physical therapist Mr. Scott was also empecable and amazing! This group of people from the receptionist was top freaking knotch

Horrible experience with scheduling for Doc Ellsworth no one called me for his orders of MRI or sonogram shot took 2 to 3 weeks and me calling myself to get my results had to make another office visit to do that ,I went first visit July 30th 2021 then Sept 3rd doc ordered shot just had someone call 3 weeks later the 21st and 22nd jennifer 21st Katelyn 22nd Jennifer was rude and told me I shouldnt keep calling I only had waited 2 to 3 weeks before calling everyone Katelyn very nice but still just got shot appointment with another Doc and told I had to go to plaza now and not the leawood office wow I probably wont go , to top it off Ive ask for Doc Ellsworth to call me 3 times now and no call back I have been in pain for months with a frozen shoulder did go to therapy and they are wanting to wait until I get shot but now to be told I have to go to the plaza and different Doc isnt ok I have to Drive 50 min to the plaza , its just really bad when you try to trust your Doctors and staff to help you and they are very untrustworthy oh and by the way I have excellent insurance and then they finally called the 3 weeks later for appr6 my insurance got right back next day do they try to use that as a excuse bit its a big fat lie

I cannot understand why anyone would give this place more than one star. Long wait times, rules regarding visitors change on a daily basis, four days to get an MRI despite the fact that I couldnt walk, because insurance has to be checked first, Im on crutches and am given paperwork to carry with me then just pointed in the direction I need to go so they can escort someone else not on crutches, they give you paperwork with detailed instructions on how to get your results, but when you call the number you are given, no one seems to know what is going on and you are given a different set of instructions with a different number to call. I still dont have any results. Thank goodness for my primary care physician who gave me something to manage the pain. I could go on and on about how horrible this place is. Once I get my results, if ever, I will never go back.

Dr. Barnthouse has performed orthopaedic services for our family over the past 30+ years. He performed a very successful right knee replacement for me in August, 2018. I was released 3 months later and was able to chase after my grandsons in Disney World! We soon moved to Colorado, where I followed-up with a local surgeon to plan the left knee replacement. In February, 2020 I had the surgery performed. COVID-19 brought the limits of follow-up care due to shutdowns to patient direct care with this providers clinic. This resulted in a poor outcome. Although, I was able to walk, the knees use was essentially poor. After one year I was finally able to see the provider and was presented with three options - invasive reopening of the knee and repair of the unit, total replacement of the unit, or remain as is. I sought out a second opinion from Dr. Barnthouse, as I trusted his professional advise. He offered adhesiolysis as an arthroscopic repair. We returned to KCOI in August for the procedure. My recovery was monitored and planned over the following two weeks in partnership with the physical therapy clinic in the facilities. I am home now in Colorado after three weeks. This recovery is going well, and follow-up will be with Dr. Barnthouse in KC. I am able to move this knee better than over the past 18 months. My gratitude to Dr. Barnthouse and the outstanding staff of KCOI - Marlee (Office nurse), Jared Burns (PA-C), nurses Alycia (IPU), Kathleen (IPU), Samantha (IPU), Kathleen (pre-op), OR staff, Tim (PACU), Janet (PT), and the doctors office staff. I am very grateful for the concerns and care. I anticipate a complete and satisfying recovery.

From the reception to the technician in Radiology I was treated with respect and kindness. It was explained thoroughly about my issue and follow up was immediate.

Had a great surgery and a great doctor.Downside: Be prepared for very long wait times for appointments or follow-up appointments. Some waits have pushed 2 hours (120 minutes), just for 4 minutes with the Doctor... and that was for an 8 AM appointment right when they open.I have known others with similar experiences here dating back to 2016.

I have 2 very active kids that sometimes get hurt and KCOI is the only place I take them now. They are very knowledgeable and always make sure they get the best treatment. Whether its the urgent care there or Dr Kirk McCullough everything has always been great and I would recommend them to anyone.

I’ve been very happy with everyone I’ve seen at KCOI. The front office staff, the nurses & assistants, the doctor (I see Dr. Carlisle) the schedulers, the XRay & MRI staff. Really, I have no complaints! And I get pretty picky when it comes to healthcare services.This is my first time getting any sort of orthopedic work done (though it’s years later than I should have!) and my experience has been great. I’m going in for laparoscopic surgery in a few weeks, and am remarkably free of nerves. I credit the clear and patient communication the doctor provided, answering all my questions as we went through it, teaching me about what a meniscus is & does, and diagramming my case for me right on paper in the room. He tolerated my frequent interruptions to ensure my understanding kindly. I’m very happy with everything so far!

Dr Santos did an excellent job of working with me. I received the injection he recommended and my back had not felt this good in months.The appointment for the injection was simple and I felt safe.

Going in for joint injections with Dr. Santos and his staff wasnt the most fun to look forward to. I was very nervous. I walked in the building and every staff person I encountered was too efficient and happy to help me find my way to their office. I got there a few min before my appointment, was checked in before I even sat down. Moved through registration and on my way to my little room all within 20 min of arrival. The first nurse to come in was personable. We chatted while discussing and assessing. She didnt seem rushed she had time to talk about my nerves and my daughters missing cat 😂. Then, she leaves and Doc comes in. He tells me his side of the story and asks if I have any questions or concerns and off he goes to wait for me!! Super nurse returns as promised with Trinity, the nurse who will assist with procedure and off we go. I was assisted up to the table, simple instructions and we were almost there. I told them my anxiety was a little engaged and they start chatting with me about NON procedure stuff!! I was in the presence of a rad tech who was retiring after a long career and able to be part of her day which made me smile and not think of the stick and burn in my groin/hip area. Continuing to chat, I glanced up at the image on the screen showing what that...needle was doing and looked away quickly lol. Little flash of nerves came back. Doc noticed and kept right on chatting, making sure I was OK. Then it was all over. By the end of it I felt like I knew them all personally and was surprised how fast, efficient and completely snag free the whole situation went. Not that I ever hope to have anything like this again...but if I do... I know where I am going!!!!! THIS is the type of facility/organization/group that provides care that you can depend on. Ive never been more impressed and I am a nurse. 🤗

I have always had positive experiences with KC Orthopedics from the scheduler to the nurses and all the doctors. I even had an MRI done there and the tech was wonderful. She made it very easy and I didn’t have any problems.I would heartedly recommend this practice.

Jami, my MRI tech, was extremely patient with me when I was unable to complete the test on my first attempt because of my anxiety. She rescheduled me for another day and I was able to complete the test with the help of some medication. Jami is a special person.

The people at Orthopaedic Institute are so professional and accommodating. They fit me in for a doctor visit, X-rays and an MRI swiftly after I injured myself. I especially liked their attention to sanitation and patient safety with their many procedures and specialized equipment. They even have a machine which takes your temperature remotely while you stand in front of it. They schedule MRIs late into the evening too to keep inter-patient contact minimal. Their people are dedicated to putting their clients first. Double thumbs up to this medical practice.

Mixed review. My daughter had an X-ray at St Luke’s & diagnoses with fracture of her small finger. She was as to see a specialist, so we chose KCOI. I was pleased to be scheduled within the week at the Plaza location. Instead of viewing x-ray they received from St. Luke’s, we were told it would need to be repeated @ KCOI with no explanation why. I was somewhat confused by the explanation of the fracture. The PA said she had a torn tendon yet Dr. Rhodes said the finger was broken.Moving forward, my daughter was given a referral to PT for splint & therapy exercises. As advised, we went to St. Luke’s PT as a walk-in, as advised by Dr. Rhoades. He said no appointment needed, just walk in. After waiting an hour, she was given an oval 8 splint (

Everything was explained thoroughly before the MRI to make sure I knew what to expect. Everyone was very professional and friendly.

Review is for the “Urgent Care”. The day of my visit in 2019 I was the first one in the door the minute the clinic opened, yet I still sat in the waiting room for 30 min before being taken back to the room. My total time interacting with a provider was about 5-10 min during a 2.5 hour visit. I was sitting in the exam room alone for so long that the tights turned off on me. They billed my insurance for an ER visit not an Urgent care visit, 10 months later I am still fighting for them to correct my bill but they are non responsive and have not returned my last phone call over a week ago. Using billing codes of ER is not ethical when you advertise your services as urgent care, there is a big difference in costs for your customers.

Check in was simple, very courteous clerical. Nurse staff was very friendly & efficient, professional. Dr. explained the procedure, went about getting it done in timely, calm manner. Warm blanket felt good after procedure while I was resting before leaving.Nice people, nice place & I hope I never need to do again but if I do Ill not hesitate to go back to KCOI!

A week after being diagnosed with a broken finger...perhaps down to the joint... I went to KC Ortho urgent care bc pain had spread to my other fingers and wrist... become unbearable..I went to KCOrtho for relief in hopes of seeing a specialist..upon arrival the idea that my referral/records would be sent electronically was confusing to the front desk person.....then they refused to even look at my injury and sent me away. Yes I have insurance. My skin color perhaps didnt warrant my pain being taken seriously

This clinic has the best, most experienced doctors in the area and provides the best care available anywhere. All of the staff do an outstanding job and genuinely care about the patients.

I went to the Institute and left feeling alone and dejected. I felt the surgeon was not listening to me nor even gave me a chance to ask questions. In fact, I think he does not like being a doctor. He and his staff did not give me ANY follow up information for MRI tests needed. They said they need to get permission from my insurance. In other practices, the front office is on the phone with the insurance company working things out so you know what is going on. So it could be weeks before a test or a couple days, but it is a secret.It’s too bad and felt it was a waste of everyone’s time.Denis MedeirosI later learned that the Institute outsources MRI analysis and this takes a week to get done. They have their own but cannot keep up with the volume. I am still waiting for a call from this outsourced firm to make an appointment after they received the order. I called them 2 days after my visit and the order had not yet been received. So, I guess I need to reconsider this place as a source of health care.

I cant say enough positive things about Dr. Joyce and his team. Their expertise is outdone only by their compassion. A bit thank you to them.

All COVID protocols were in place, so I felt safe. Everyone was welcoming and kind and the young man who actually did my MRI was exceptionally professional and compassionate!

I wasnt able to get my shot because of a health concern. The Doctor did the right thing by telling me to take care of it and come back when it was taken care of. He could have just gave me the shot knowing it wasnt the best thing to do. He aslo gave me medications to help me until I could get the shot. He also took the time to discuss with me about getting my covid shot. Everyone was very nice. The office was clean and they took precautions for covid.

KC Orthopedic Institute was as good of a procedure as they can get! They have a new up to date, state of the art MRI machine, its larger than previous models, has mood lighting, they put earplugs in your ears, ask if you want to listen to music and if so, what type of music, and then put earphones over the earplugs!! So with all that being said...you cant really even hear the noises of the machine!! Just lay there with ur feet propped up and a warm blanket, if you wish, and RELAX! If you just stay still...its over before you even know it and the technician people are very nice and seem to be patient with their patients!!! Lol I seriously mean every word I said so, if you have been putting it off, dont wait any longer, its ok....JUST DO IT 😊

Dr Unruh is great! Jokes around with you so you feel comfortable, but still keeps a serious environment. He is great at explaining everything in terms that you will understand and writes it down for you as well (or maybe he did that for me since it was my arm that was injured 💁‍♀️).

I rate the service I received with the best rating possible. I have been to the clinic for my 3rd injection. I have always received over the top treatment and would recommend if you are looking for 5 star treatment you are in the right place. Thanks team Santos.

So we were scheduled to see a foot and ankle specialist because my wife broke her ankle. We get here and of course I’m not allowed in. So a shoulder specialist meets with her because the foot and ankle guy that they booked her to see is not here in the mornings. Only here in the afternoons. So either a surgery and treatment will be recommended by the incorrect physician or we will have to take more time off work and pay for another appointment. I certainly hope they don’t expect to be paid for this appointment. Update: I filed a complaint with the office when she was told to go get an MRI because it wasn’t broken but he wasn’t sure. Of course you aren’t sure. That isn’t your specialty. She said he spent 5 min with her and was very cold. Was left in the room alone to try to put the boot cast back on herself because they couldn’t bother with it and I wasn’t allowed in. I was sure allowed in to complain. Was told the doctor she should have seen in the first place would review the images and we would receive a call back. We never did. We called at 4:00 and had to leave a message. So now we will probably have to wait until he is back in the office on Thursday. They better hope this delay in treatment does not result in further injury ! Update: they called me back at 5:30. I was very pleased with the physician who called to speak with me. He was understanding and apologetic. Seems to be very knowledgeable. So I am still not pleased with what occurred today but I am very pleased with how they have rectified the situation. UPDATE. NOPE. They are back to one star. I have been billed over and over and over from them. Billing will NOT allow me to speak. Cut me off over and over telling me I owe more and more money that has already been paid. Customer service is horrible!

The technician explained the procedure, made sure I was comfortable, gave me my choice of music to listen to through headphones, and I was finished in 20 minutes. He also had a sense of humor.

I think Dr. Fotopoulos is absolutely the best! I’ve now literally hobbled in to his office five times over the past two years! Within 24hours of my last epidural injection, I was almost pain free! I am a pretty active 76 year old who enjoys being on both the tennis court and pickle ball court! He’s done it again! Im back! I also want to mention that Dr. Fotopoulos’s bed side manner is equally as great as his technical skills! Great doctors office, despite the fact that they are ALWAYS running late, my appointment today was scheduled for 11:20, and it is currently 11:57 and still waiting. Happens every single time I am here. One time I had to wait 1.5 hours. It’s such a shame that the best knee doctor in town has such a long wait time past the scheduled appointment time.

With the insurance that I am lucky enough to have, I could go pretty much any doctor for treatment. I have gone to Dr. Fotopoulos before and will continue to be one of his patients. He and his staff make you feel like you are the only person that are treating. They take time to explain your condition, what your options are, and help you choose the best option for your care. Our daughter saw Dr. Unruh for her wrist last year and he was very detailed and personable. A few weeks ago, she hurt her ankle on a Friday and we went in to the walk-in urgent care on Saturday. We were pleasantly surprised that we got in quickly for an x-ray and saw Kara Boyd, PA and my daughter and I both really liked her. I appreciated how she explained everything and talked directly to my 12 year old daughter. Thankfully she didn’t break anything but it was so nice to be able to find out right away.

The staff by far was the nicest Ive seen in a long time. Everyone was compassionate to my needs and the procedures Ive had done. Dr. Fotopoulos has been outstanding as well. Hes explained every detail of the procedures he has performed on me so far and he to is very compassionate. Overall, this office is by far the best one Ive been to in the Kansas City area. I dont mind the long drive to get there either because I know Im being taken care of.

We had to take our youngest son for an MRI of his knee and they were so great. This was our third visit and the doctor called to review results and discuss options over the phone so we didn’t have to drive another two hours for that visit. They are great!!

Dr Santos always makes me fill like he cares and will fix my problem.
