Based on the location and their impressive web site, we chose this facility for short term rehab for my husband following a hospital stay. HUGE MISTAKE! Once you leave the lobby area the facility is abysmal. Hallway carpet was worn and stained. Room was small and sparsely furnished. Staff was unfriendly and unresponsive. Getting necessary safety equipment (a walker) was virtually impossible. The “culinary experience” was a ham salad sandwich or a choice from a list of other equally unappealing dinner items. My husband was served a hot dog and cold French fries with no napkin or utensils. The unresponsive nursing staff clearly does not chart or document medication or medical status or verify they are giving the correct medication to the correct patient. The bed was so uncomfortable and the room so cold he got very little if any sleep. The pillow cases were paper and there were no extra blankets provided or offered. The following morning he discovered there were no towels in the bathroom. When we signed him out of this facility AMA because he had not been seen or evaluated by a doctor, a physical therapist or an occupational therapist, they refused to help with arranging home health care. We contacted his primary care physician to arrange in home assistance. I intend to file a formal complaint with the State of Kansas and Medicare.

Each time I walk into the facility I have to take a minute to just take in the sight. Beautiful facility with great staff. Great assisted living facility with beautiful rooms on the second story. I have had the opportunity to visit many times and each time I have left impressed by the care and compassion I have witnessed at the facility. My favorite part of the facility is the variety of therapy programs they offer for their residents as well as members of the community coming for outpatient therapy.

Would not recommend this facility for anyone!. Very difficult to get anyone to answer the phones day or night. As someone who is familiar with the Long Term Care resident Rights and State guidelines for Medicare/Medicaid facilities, I witnessed multiple deficiencies with quality of care, inadequate staffing on all shifts, quality of life issues, resident’s rights violated and one of the worse examples of resident decline in less than 30 days. Oh and we were private pay yes $ 10,000 a month! This facility needs to be closed. Our family called the facility staff to assist our father multiple times day, night and weekends that he was there, begging the staff to take better care of him, but nothing changed. We were told by the staff and the Director of Nursing, Jack that there were other residents to take care of beside my father! Even after being given permission to place a camera in his room, the care did not improve. No one showed any empathy or sympathy to this 98 yr old resident. He deserved better, we expected better and this facility staff failed to provide basic nursing care. We finally transferred him out of this facility, but the pain of seeing him there will never go away. No stars for Healthcare resort of Leawood!!!

What a beautiful building building and caring staff. They do a fantastic job getting patient healed up and on their way home safely. I am very impressed with their leadership, nursing staff, therapy team, and housekeepers!

I have worked with HCR Leawood for over 2 years. The staff is friendly, competent and they go out of their way to ensure that the best care is given. I know of several residents who have made HCR of Leawood their home for several years and they feel safe, loved and comfortable. Not to mention the amenities are state of the art. The dietary department is one of the best and the director Bruce is simply an amazing chef and has creative ideas for meals! All the way from the front desk to the cleanliness of the rooms, HCR of Leawood cannot be beat!

Yes; the building is impressive but... do you really care what the place looks like as your loved one is ignored and suffering? In my opinion; this place should be condemned or at least regulated and disciplined to the fullest extent of the law.THE CULINARY EXPERIENCE (the following is nothing butTotal Bull Sh..) in my educated experience and professional opinion.The Healthcare Resort is a celebration of what’s good today. Seasonally inspired ingredients at their peak of freshness. International cooking techniques that bring out natural flavor and are inherently healthy. All in a casually sophisticated setting. Come experience what’s good today!The food or menu is driven only by cost and in no way like the website portrays it to be.. like a Culinary Experience and...all people pictured on the website are not employees or perhaps .. long since gone.

These people have done more in two days for my loved one that was done in another facility in two months. Clean, extremely friendly, helpful, skilled staff. I dont have enough space or words to express how thankful I am the hospital in Overland Park referred her to this facility!!

I am absolutely convinced this is one of the best facilities, if not the best, in Kansas City. HCR has a wonderful appearance, great location and top notch staff. They have an outstanding activity leader with trips safely handled by their transportation leader. Their therapy team is the best. Only great things to say about the Healthcare Resort of Leawood.

The staff was extremely friendly! I was impressed with all of the different therapy equipment available. The therapy staff was very attentive. I would definitely recommend The Healthcare Resort of Leawood for anyone needing short term rehab.

The only reason for a two star was poor communication. Family calls were not returned. I was told I would get weekly updates on my elderly mother, nothing. The only calls I received were Covid 19 cases at Healthcare.

I have been working at HCR Leawood for a summer job, expecting to find a quiet way to pass the summer and save up for college. In the short time Ive worked here, the staff and administration have been tremendously kind, and I intend to return to visit and work in summers to come.They build relationships with the residents and care about their work. As a relatively new facility, theyre still working some of the kinks out (like building up the nursing staff), but they consistently work together to make the facility as welcoming and efficient as possible.

They cared for my mom and gave her comfort in a difficult time. We are grateful. Laura was caring and kind. The facility is beautiful and the food delicious. 5 star spectacular

Posting on behalf of my father who had a poor experience close to his home in western Kansas. He moved to Kansas City temporarily and received out patient physical therapy 3 times a week for over 2 months. Dad was in a deconditioned state, following a long hospitalization. Our expectations were met and exceeded; including fitting for leg/shoe brace, strengthening, balance retraining, car transfers, and activity tolerance building. Thank you to all the therapists who aided in making it possible for my father to improve and return to his apartment independently.

Due to having a bad experience following back surgery in 2012, I elected to interview and survey several Rehab Facilities prior to having a similar procedure done in February of 2017. I selected The Healthcare Resort of Leawood as being by first choice for In- Patient Rehab Services. I had a fabulous experience during my stay before being released to return to my home. The facility, staff and support personnel were cream of the crop, top notch and a grade above all of the rest. I was so impressed that I returned for Out- Patient Physical Therapy sessions to establish normalcy. Their peoples training, knowledge and talents indicate they have walked the Walk and are qualified to Talk the Talk!

I just met the staff for The Healthcare Resort of Leawood and I must say how absolutely amazing, caring, knowledgable and accommodating they are. They really go out of their way to make you feel like you are their number one priority. Their administrator was so patient in answering any questions and concerns I presented. And can we talk about the menu?! Wow! Any person staying here will feel like a guest on a wonderful retreat. Im looking forward to the opening this fall and all the possibilities it provides for members of this growing community.

The staff took really good care of my fatherBut when it came time for Hospice care and time to transfer out, administration would not return phone calls about refunding our money that was paid ahead of time. It has been almost 10 days and we have still not had a return phone call. They want you to pay as soon as possible, but are unwilling to do the same. We need that money to help with his care. Not happy!!

This place is very deficient in care for their patients! They are understaffed and do not reply in a timely manner! My mom was On the floor bleeding and crying for help and no one came! Luckily her neighbor went to get help! She ended up with 13 stitches in her head and could have died without her neighbor! The head administrator is childish and does not have the intelligence or personality type to be in this position! Don’t let looks fool you! The people are nice but the doctor appears to be incompetent!

My dad was transferred to a different facility immediately after being discharged from KU Med. We knew within just a few hours of him being there that we could not let him stay there. So we started researching other skilled nursing facilities and we found Healthcare Resort of Leawood. We called late on a Wed. evening, leaving a message that we would like to get our dad transferred to their facility. These people went above & beyond helping us by making endless phone calls to the insurance company & to the facility my dad was currently at. They were able to get my dad transferred to HCL by mid-afternoon on Fri. THANK YOU- Sheila, Tammy & Justin! During my dads 2 week stay...he received great care. The OCT & PTs were amazing & taught my dad some great techniques for him to be able to use once he was home to help him feel more independent & not dependent...which he has been using successfully. The food was good quality. If there was anything we had questions or concerns about the staff answered our questions & calmed our worries. Thanks to you all...keep up the great work!

Hmm...my post is down. No surprise.This place is awful. Complaint has been filed with the state. Move your loved to a different facility—there really are good ones out there.

This is by far the worst care ever. Nurses sit around giggling looking at their phones, and dont respond the the patients. My mothers clothes were stolen by the laundry person. The facility said it was indeed a problem, and would reimburse me for the money I was out replacing them. They never did. I had asked the administrator for a list of response times from when the button was pushed to when a nurse came... no surprise they did not ever produce it. Terrible! I am adding to my post, because the owner says to call Justin... that is the person that told me they would get me the report of the call time... and did not.... also he was the one that told me that he would reimburse for the clothes... and did not.

Beautiful open concept makes it a great place to recover. Feels like your at a high end resort!

Very beautiful place to stay to do your rehab very nice people sometimes it would take a little while before you got your meds but overall nice clean place

I am excited that the Leawood location will be accepting long term care Kansas Medicaid very soon. This is well needed in our communities.

I’ve had two friends who chose The Healthcare Resort of Leawood for rehab after a hip and knee replacement. Both had exceptional nursing and rehab care and returned home more active than they had previously been!

STAFF FRONT DESK AND NURSES DEFINITELY DO AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE! 2nd TIME WE HAVE USED THIS PLACE SAME THING AGAIN PLAIN AND SIMPLY. LAZY LAZY LAZY!

Was here for a hip replacement. it was the worst stay ever. I never got any sleep cause of another patience. The staff was aware of this patience and did nothing about it.

I have had great experiences with The Healthcare Resort of Shawnee Mission and The Healthcare Resort of Kansas City. I am excited for one to open in southern Johnson County.

It is so refreshing to see firsthand the fusion of world class healthcare and personalized hospitality being delivered to the people of Johnson County.

The CNA s do not answer the call light in a timely manner. They stand around talking about other employees and patients. While patients have there call light is on. I heard them talking very ugly about another patient. They standing around the nurse station.

The staff is neglectful, lazy, and careless. I will be filing a complaint with the state.
