Im new to the area and joined Body Boutique back in April 2021. The facility is clean, has a ton of amazing classes to choose from, and the atmosphere is so welcoming and uplifting. Everyone is so encouraging and always lifting each other up. The instructors are super personable and provide advice anytime Ive needed it. They also are great at pushing you further than you would push yourself. Im so glad I found this facility! The ladies of Lawrence are so lucky to have it!#findyourstrongatbodyboutique

They use Shady business practices to make cancellation as difficult as possible. Theres a nearly completely non-functional internet portal yet you cannot use any of it to cancel your account, even in the middle of the pandemic they require that you come in during business hours and cancel which is restrictive against people who have irregular work schedules and difficulties socializing. Coupled with the 60-day cancellation notice like its an apartment complex, its clear the business strategy is to make it as difficult as possible to cancel your membership. Stay away

I have been a member of Body Boutique for over 10 years. It is a fantastic facility - great equipment, great space, great classes. It is very clean. They offer a terrific variety and quality of classes. If you look closely at the negative reviews for Body Boutique, youll notice they are all about canceling. There is a membership contract. Read your contract. Follow the instructions for canceling. Body Boutique has been locally operated and owned for 30 years.

Body Boutique is my wonderfully supportive fitness home. It’s a place that provides countless opportunities to reach my goals. From group exercise, to personal training, a beautiful cycling studio, virtual classes to live classes you can do at home. Lorinda and her staff are so warm and friendly and make Body Boutique a place I very much love to workout and meet some great people.

I am really grateful for all Body Boutique has done since the pandemic began to meet the needs of our community. They started offering their classes live streaming through a secure platform. They have two different virtual studios that you can go in to take classes whenever you want. I hardly ever have to share the virtual studios with anyone else. The group fitness classes are still happening and everyone who goes (there arent many) is really good about social distancing and cleaning everything after they use it. They even offer online personal training but I havent tried it yet. It just goes to show that they really care about helping their members succeed in their goals, and now they are helping women outside of Lawrence as well. Its a wonderful community to be apart of.

In the middle of this world pandemic, body boutique has proven to show nothing but support to its members, from offering classes online, virtually in the cycling studio and the mind body studio, as well as live streaming classes by the most amazing instructors!! Giving so many options to its members so we can continue our daily lives and routines without a lot of disruption! I am so thankful for my BODYBoutique tribe!

I love the Body Boutique! It is the premier womens gym in Lawrence. I enjoy the group fitness classes, and the instructors are incredible. The management also fosters a great sense of community! Highly recommended!

The instructors are nice and there’s a wide variety of classes. However, I never dreamt that canceling a membership would be so difficult. I signed a one year contract a little over a year ago. Life changes in a year and the gym is no longer in a convenient location for me and I want to cancel my membership. I’ve called three times over the course of a week and a half not wanting to be overly pushy. Two times I’ve left messages which have received no response and the time I did get to speak to a person, a week ago, I was told I would receive confirmation of my cancellation and that I would not have to come in to cancel like usual. I have yet to receive this confirmation. I’m extremely disappointed and frustrated. If you’re looking at reviews, like I was a year ago, and betting that some of the complaints on here were off-chances it miscommunications, they’re not. Save yourself the trouble.

Body Boutique is one of my happiest of places. Its a community of women who strive to be better version of themselves, whatever that might be, and support one another along the way. Ive made so many meaningful relationships there. I also love love love their group fitness classes. They offer so many different formats, that it really makes working on my fitness accessible and fun. I always think its more fun to work out with others, especially when you get to do it Les Mills style. The small group classes, Elite 30, provide more attention if needed, and then theres always personal training from the great trainers there. Its definitely worth checking out!!

Love this gym! Been going over 16 years and couldnt imagine ever going anywhere else! Have tried other gyms in town and none of them compare to the community and support you will find here. Classes and instructors are amazing and they are always switching things up so you dont get bored.

I love working out at this gym. So many different classes plus a good selection of free weights. The challenges are my favorite thing though. I love a friendly competition to help motivate me to get in the gym.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Body Boutique. I joined only last fall and I was hooked instantly with what they had to offer. This is not your typical “gym” setting. There is so much more. With the support from their staff I became involved in many things such as Tribe Fit, body pump and RPM. I could not have maintained my fitness like I did through the long winter without BB. I highly recommend this facility to every woman who has the desire to be ALL that you want to be!

I love this gym. Lots of class options including cycling and power training. The best part is the staff. They are friendly and incredibly motivating. Very personal. This is my home away from home and where I release all my stress. The cost for what you get is outstanding.

Body Boutique offers a large variety of high quality classes that cater to all fitness levels. The personal trainers at Body Boutique will help to perfect exercise techniques that provide maximum impact. Its a large facility with tons of equipment and places to work out on your own. The spa is wonderful, too: sauna, hot tub, steam room, and the most amazing massage therapists! I love Body Boutique!

This is hands down my favorite gym. It’s a beautiful facility with all the must have amenities that a woman would need. Steam and dry saunas, weight floor, group classes, cycling and one on one focus. If you have tried it stop by. ❤️

Body Boutique is my home away from home! I have been working out here for almost two years and it has been the best gym I have ever been a part of. The staff is so welcoming and they have classes for everyone. No matter what your fitness background is, you will find a fit for you at Body Boutique. Love this place!

Body boutique is the first gym I’ve ever enjoyed attending. All of the group classes are a great work out, and the trainers are super helpful and motivating. I also love all of the challenges they come up with!

Hours are horrible for working professionals and contract is deceitfully hard to get out of. I first joined because I was going to yoga classes with friends on weekends. Now theyre down to 2 yoga classes a week, and like all of their classes, they are offered too early in the evening for me to be able to get to. Its a let down that this is a women only place because its definitely not a working women place. I feel sort of vindicated that there are so many reviews regarding the horrible contract. In my line of work this type of thing is called a dark pattern. How convenient it seems to sign up for auto billing...until you try to get out of it and you missed the 3 month in advance mail in request for cancellation by one day. (BTW I called ABC financial later than the May 5 review below and I was told 3 months. Maybe your set income would continue to come in if it werent for snatch and grab policies.) The facilities are well kept and the staff is friendly so I have no problems there. I even enjoy that its women only. I just cannot justify flying out the door at work to get to a 5:30 class.

I had been a member for over 6 years. I liked the gym because I liked the classes, the equipment, and the accessibility, but the billing system is absolutely horrible. They force you to sign up for automatic payments which they dont stop after you quit. I gave my required 60 day notice to cancel my membership and they continued to charge me. Apparently its a 60 day cancellation notice plus whatever is left in your billing cycle, which they dont tell you, so when I cancelled I still paid another 2 months. Then I was charged an ADDITIONAL month but that was eventually refunded.

I was a member of this gym for 10+ years. The gym is clean. They have a range of nice programming choices. Instructors are very dedicated and skilled. Management, however, is a different story. I have come to the realization that all that management cares for is profit. They will suck money out of you even after you decide to leave the gym. I was charged four extra months after I announced that I was leaving (due to relocation to a different state). And this problem with repeated unauthorized withdrawals seems to be rather common. Beware before you give your credit card information to this gym.

Lovely facility. I train with Meredith twice a week. She always gives me a great workout. She challenges and encourages me to give it my all each and every time. She also gives nutritional advice. Im seeing super results!

Body Boutique has made a positive difference in my life. I have been a member for many years, but really kicked it in about 5 years ago. The staff helped me to design a plan to get fit and stay healthy. The plan has changed and adapted to my needs as I have become more advanced and confident in my abilities. I am challenged every time I walk in the door, and I live for it. An intrinsic benefit of my membership are the friends Ive made along the way. I definitely recommend Body Boutique. If you join and engage, you will be better a person for it.

Two separate coworkers warned me not to get a membership here but I didnt listen. This gym must be so desperate for money because they will continue to bill you for months and months even after you have written confirmation of your gym cancellation. I strongly recommend going somewhere else.

Ive been going to Body Boutique on and off over the past 10 years and truly love this gym and the community here. I am a mom, and cannot say good enough things about their child care center. Weve even used some of the ladies as sitters and its been great getting to know them! The kidcare space is open, bright and they have so many nice toys for my kid to play with while I get in some me time. Its so nice going to a woman-empowered gym that has a nice variety of classes. They always have challenges and events going on to keep members engaged. The owner has addressed the concerns over cancelling contracts and informed us that everything is now being handled in-house.

Great exercise classes. Great equipment. Great hours.

The management has poor practices, deprioritizing members who dont participate in programs that are extra on top of your membership. the cancellation policy is unacceptable. The management preaches about how they have to run a business and rates should reflect that, but if they spent more time running the business and less time talking about it, people would maybe be happier customers.

Speaking on behave of my wife, the gym is very sub par and diligent. The owner was rude and snobbish and quite money hungry. My wife took the our children to the day care which was very contaminated and unkempt, the workers were very nice however the toys were unhygienic and old. If i could id give it a zero. My wifes experience was very distasteful and she is now stuck in a very unhappy contract. BODY BOUTIQUE GET A BETTER OWNER!

Great place to work out! Friendly, helpful staff. All the fitness equipment and training you might want from from free weights to machines to spin classes and personal training (ask for Meredith)!

I love working out at Body Boutique. They have a great variety of group classes for all levels, the people are very friendly, and there are vast choices for cardio, strength building, weight machines, and much more.

This organization did not honor their own 1 year contract and end my membership after 1 year. Instead Body Boutique continued to charge me for membership fees even after I emailed and called to tell them I was not in the state and did not want to renew my membership. Since I was not in the state, I could not deal with this issue in person and they would not work with me. This issue dragged out for an entire year after my 1 year membership was suppose to expire. In the end I had a $150.00 outstanding balance on my account that I was unaware of until I got a call from a collection agency a year later. I signed up for a 12 month membership but was charged for 14 months.

I really enjoy the atmosphere and welcoming staff. It’s a very Body positive environment!

HUGE regret to ever give them my business. I sent an email to the third party billing company (that alone is a mess! they switch billing companies without telling you) and forwarded it to the gym. This email gave 90 days notice... plenty I thought! Nope. They did not consider this sufficient notice, and said I had to come in personally to the gym to sign a document. Despite moving out of town, I had to go in person to sign a document, and now I have to pay for 3 more months. Total ripoff. Do NOT sign a contract here!!!

Body Pump, Body Flow, and RPM spinning are my favorite classes. Body Boutique is a great gym to belong to in Lawrence. They offer a discount for teachers too!

This is a nice facility and they offer many classes but they seriously lack diversity/inclusivity in staff and in members. I never felt fully comfortable working out here because it felt like members and staff alike did nothing but stare at me for intruding on their white space. I will also add that their cancellation policy is bull. They require you to come in and sign a form and then inform you that youre still required to pay for another 2-3 months of membership before theyll actually cancel your membership. Save your money if youre a POC and find a more inclusive space.

It seems to me that as a business owner, Body Boutique might read their numerous poor reviews regarding their financial policy, and realize they need to CHANGE their financial policy because they are making their clients angry. Is 3 extra months of fees or giving someone the runaround so they cant close their membership worth all of these terrible reviews you are getting on Google? These days, consumers read reviews before making decisions. Just a suggestion, change your financial policy and then reply to every single bad review that you have with a note saying that you listened and changed your policy, and apologize for any inconvenience! Your are going to struggle to gain new members with the terrible reviews you have, especially with so many great gyms in Lawrence.

This is by far the best gym I have ever been a member of! The instructors are extremely motivational and enthusiastic. I didnt realize how much I would miss this gym until I moved away. LOVE BODY BOUTIQUE!!!

This place is a nightmare to cancel with. They hire out a billing company with which they seem to have no communication, right hand doesnt talk to the left hand. I opted to pay my fees in cash which I was told I could do until I started getting invoices from a billing company that were overcharging me, however, this cant be worked out with Body Boutique because they dont have anything to do with the billing company. Tried to call and cancel my account 45 days in advance, called 4 times to ask if I could come in and pay my due balance in cash or give a credit card and was told no, it had to be paid online. But online automated email said do not reply to this email....left not knowing how to solve the problem I called on the 31st of August wanting the end of September to be my last billing (contract says give 30 days notice) and was told that I needed to do that at the end of July... so contract should say 60 day notice.Regardless, on August 31st the girl on the phone said that I could not come in and pay to close my account that I would have to make an appointment with someone on the 2nd! Of course, this meant that I got charged for another month and she took my money. So why did they tell me that they couldnt do that when I called in all of the previous times that would have saved me from another fee?Thievery. Never get yourself involved in this mess. If you work out to reduce stress theyll make sure you leave frazzled. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere with accountable accounting.

They offer a variety of group fitness classes for all fitness levels that are fun and challenging. Plus, the instructors are fabulous!

I love this gym! They offer LesMills among other classes. The instructors are friendly, encouraging, and fun. They do challenges, incentives, and events such as local runs and work out gear swaps. This is your hometown gym- not a big commercial center that will hard-sell you into a 3 year contract and forget your name the next day. The KidsCare available is awesome as well! They actually play with and do crafts and activities with your children. The staff doesnt just sit in a corner and look at their phones. You will see all ages and sizes in a clean friendly environment!

I have been here a few times while in town with my boyfriends mother. I have had two training sessions with Alisa and shes great! If there was a place like this in dallas I would be there! Great prices and many options!

Never join anything for an extended period of time. If you want to go to this gym you have to sign a 1 year contract. You can NOT get out of it even if you wanted to pay a cancelation fee. You get absolutely no notice when your contract will be coming to an end. You have to give a 2 month notice or you will just keep getting billed. The classes were fun until they cancel the ones you can attend because they dont think enough people are coming. Im sorry but if Im stuck in a membership I should get to enjoy the classes I joined the gym for in the first place. Front desk isnt friendly....I switched to Planet Fitness where everyone is friendly, you can cancel at any time, its half the price, and has hydro massage lounges.

I have been a member of Body Boutique for about 8 years. I originally joined to get into shape after traveling for years (and it taking a toll on my body). I wanted to be an anonymous user - go in, use the treadmill, get home. I gradually worked up enough confidence to start taking classes. I LOVED them. They challenged me, I lost weight, and started gaining more confidence. I then joined a bootcamp group and did the challenge. I was in the best shape of my life and I felt amazing. Well, then a baby happened and it took a while to get back into it. Body Boutique was there for me at every stage that I needed. I took it slowly, got back into shape with my favorite classes...started working out with a trainer again to focus more on specific needs. The thing about BB that I love is that you seem to gradually become part of the BB family. They are there for you when you need them, whatever your needs are. The instructors are amazing and supportive. Its not one of those gyms where the instructors are up on stage to show off. They are real people and help everyone on their different journey of health and fitness. The trainers are the same way, as are the other members. I have met lifelong friends through this gym, and am excited to go there everyday, as well as sad to miss when I am traveling. Body Boutique is fantastic, and I anticipate being a lifelong member.

This place doesnt even deserve one star. The emplyees have NO idea what theyre talking about when you sign up. I was lied to and have been taken advantage of by their billing system. Read the fine print because they will try to screw you over for money every way they can. I called 5 months ago to cancel, which was 4 months in advance and now they claim there is no record of this. I have never experienced a system like this. The gym is not worth the money.

I would never recommend Body Boutique in Lawrence to any of my closest friends or worst enemies. I will give it one star, because the instructors seem professional and nice. However, 70-80% of the times I go to sign up for a class I get, the maximum number of web sign ups has been reached.... They over sell memberships knowing that there is not enough space, gym equipment or number of simultaneous classes to keep customers satisfied. Also, when I have gotten in to a class, they are wall to wall packed with no room to move. I am a professional and I understand that any product will have flaws and that they sell contracts by the year, but when a company has no integrity to try to remedy the situation or let someone who feels cheated out of their contract then I have no respect for how they do business. And by the sound of this review, you probably think I was rude on the phone. I wasnt, but they were definitely unapologetic and rude to me. Just thought I would share! Oh and the fact that they will be expanding in the future doesnt excuse anything and I wouldnt recommend letting them tell you otherwise!

DONT DO IT! they switch billing providers without telling you. So you get hit with late fees. Then, when you try to cancel, it takes them months to do, all while you are getting charged.Just generally hard to deal with. Just go to the free gyms (rock chalk park for example) in the area and save yourself the trouble.

This place is amazing! For most of my adult life, I have been a member of some type of gym and this is, by far, my favorite experience. The ladies only thing gave me pause because I thought it could be filled with competitive women, but that is definitely NOT the case here. The all-female atmosphere is encouraging and inspiring. Yes, the classes can be crowded but with a little forethought, registering online for a spot is easy peasy. I have used this gym my entire pregnancy and as I have gotten larger and larger, the instructors have become more and more accommodating even though I am the only preggers in the class. Finally, the personal trainers are reasonably priced, have flexible schedules, and kick you butt-exactly what I want in a PT! Seriously, this gym is stellar!

This place is a scam. For a number of reasons.First, the enrollment is very simple, but if for some reason you want to cancel you have to submit it to an affiliate company who will continue to charge you for 60 DAYS after your notice and you need to provide proof of either move or disability. While in those 60 days, you still continue to be charged even if you are not using any of their services, including childcare. Which is not great at all, in case you give a child a week there and just happen to peek through the glass.The classes are just ok, nothing to make them out stand from any other gym, there are several other options in the area. In the meantime, they continue to take my money from me (who now live in Texas) for over 4 months. Just be aware.

Bad experience! They will not let you break the contract. I told them that I could no long afford to pay and they said I would have to file for bankruptcy. They only want your money!

The variety of classes, inspiring instructors, clean & functioning equipment, friendly staff and dedicated members are just a few of the reasons I would recommend Body Boutique. I look forward to their upcoming expansion which will accommodate new members and additional exercise options.

BEWARE ***Ive been with this gym for some time now, and have constantly fought with this billing company and their employees over billing issues. When I signed up, the front desk workers were very friendly, and specifically told me I would not have problems freezing or canceling. However, today I tried to cancel my account due to moving in a few short days, and they said I wouldve had to give them 60 days notice. Therefore, they are wanting me to pay for the next few months as well!! I was never informed of this upon signing up, they stated it would only take one phone call. They act like a friendly, local gym but behind the scenes it is a mess. Staff is clueless on how billing works, therefore you have to go through their third party billing company! Please dont sign up for a membership at this gym, unless you know you will be living close by, forever. Very disappointed, especially if youre a college student.

Very bad and worst experience ever I had, I started with them 2013 and they told me when i want to stop or cancel my membership its fine.I called and I came to the gym to cancel my membership and they told me OK, but they still charged me every month, they charged me 5 months till this moment and every time I called them they tell me the same stupid reason, the person who is charge of my cancellation is not here.I called my lawyer for this reason, the gave me a hard time.. They are big liersif u want to cancel your membership take a copy of it

I have been going to BB on and off for several years. Ive seen great improvement over the years, especially with the classes and instructors, i.e. Ericas Pilates class is the best class at BB. Shes very accommodating to the needs of the entire class and always asks if there are any special needs, injuries, etc, as well as ramping it up to get a great workout and makes it really fun! I also love the steam room! Everyone in the gym has always been very friendly to boot!

Ive been going to BodyBo for many years now, so obviously Im a fan. For those who are looking for a gym, here are the major points Id highlight:PROS:- Equipment. I really appreciate having access to all the same equipment that I got used to having at the KU Rec center. Over the past year or two they keep adding more of the bonus extras (ab core trainer mats, resistance bands, medicine balls, etc.) that make workouts more rewarding.- Instructors are great. Theyre well trained, and nearly all of them have wonderful, infectious personalities while teaching. They really help you push yourself.- Classes. The Les Mills classes are great (especially BodyFlow, my favorite) as are the classes designed by the BodyBo instructors.- Lady gym. I love having a women-only space to work out.- Friendly staff. For the most part, the people who work at the gym are great.CONS:- The hours. The hours are a huge bummer and major downside to this gym. They close at 8pm Fridays and 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Obviously this is not a deal breaker for me, but it is a regular disappointment.- Space. This should be solved by the upcoming expansion, but right now, during peak times, space is very limited. Trainers often work with clients during peak times and occupy the majority of the free space.

I have been a member for 6 months now. and i did love it. i agree w every EVERY review listed. the management is terrible, rude, careless, and mostly clueless. i think there might have 4 actuall times i got to finish my whole one hour group workout w out them coming and having me stop to do something that could of waited till i was done. They also have questioned my kids about personal information, w out my permission and knowlege and presences. i dont trust the daycare. i dont trust the managment. the trainers really care. they are awesome and is what keeps that place in business. they motivate everyone to come back, and i look forward to going back tomorrow. now if the rest of the business could well act like a business, there would be alot more happy women!
