Dr. Yu and his entire staff are absolutely wonderful! Suzi, Van, Ian, the X-Ray Techs, the Front Desk staff - all friendly, caring, professional, personable, and efficient. I broke my right ankle (both sides!) on a Friday. The ER patched it and advised me to get to an Orthopedic Surgeon as quickly as possible. On Monday morning, my family was able to obtain an appointment that very morning. Long story short, my surgery was on Tuesday morning. Im recovering well. I feel fine, and Im confident that Im getting the best of care. I believe that Im receiving personal attention and follow-up. Making the best of a bad accident!

He did a great job on my husband knees. He is able to hike greater distance now then he could before surgery. The only pain medicine he used was Tylenol. Rehab when great. He was so happy after having the first Knee done , He had Dr Yu do the second Knee.

Van was able to see me very quick after my foot injury. She was very professional and easy to talk to. If I ever have future injuries, I’ll definitely be back.

Dr Yu replaced, my hip & knee over the last 3 years. Last month he fixed my trigger thumb. He & his staff are very caring and friendly. I never feel rushed when explaining my pain. I love that he does xrays in his office and has results in minutes. After hip and knee surgery I was up and walking that afternoon. Went home a day later and using a walker managed all daily activities on my own. I have referred many of my senior friends to him.

I was so scared of this surgery when I was given my diagnosis back in early 2020, but this Orthopedic team was great and they made the whole process great and seamless! Dr Yu has operated on both of my shoulders. My latest surgery was immediately following shoulder surgery that failed (from another state) I am back working out and playing golf again. I was blessed to find Dr Yu not to mention the staff, all pro team.

I had a total knee replacement on March 18 2021. The operation and recovery went off perfectly. I am a 76 year old male and within 3 months of my surgery I was back on the golf coarse. I hadnt been able to play for 2 years prior to the surgery. Do your physical therapy. I wish I had done this 10 years earlier. Dr Yu and his PA Van were amazing. I highly recommend Dr Yu. I have had great experiences with dr Yu He fixed my right knee perfectly and i am in the process of wearing dyna splints on both knees for months now to improve extension of the knees. In April 2021 I got injections of stem cells in my left knee and was told they would contact me when the next injection was approved but the call never Carlos said it could take a few weeks but he never contacted me for the next appointment. Dr. Yu and his excellent team performed a left hip replacement on me exactly 4 weeks ago today. I am now walking a mile a day unaided, and hope to increase my exercise load as I continue the healing process. The surgery itself involved very little pain for me (probably around the “2 level”) and the recovery period (including home health care visits and follow-up appointments with Dr Yu’s office and PT staff) has gone well. BTW—I am an active 65-year-old (soccer, running, pickleball). I’ve had osteoarthritis/ cartilage breakdown for several years and was concerned that I had left it rather late to get this surgery done—but Dr. Yu reassured me that this was a good time to go through with it. Wise words—backed up by his skillful surgery and an attentive supporting team.

In April and July 2021, I had total knee replacement for each knee. I am currently under physical therapy during my recovery. I spent two years suffering in pain not knowing what was wrong with my left hip. I went from Doctor to Doctor and they all kept telling me I had back issues. Nothing they did worked and my quality of life was in jeopardy. Through the advice of a successful and trusted friend, I finally went to see Dr. Yu. Within 15 minutes he diagnosed and explained my issue, it was indeed my left hip, not my back! Avascular Necrosis to be exact. My left hip was 75% shot and I needed a total replacement. After successful surgery 6 weeks ago I am doing great! I knew when I arrived at his office and noticed how happy and friendly his staff is (even on a Monday! 😜) that I was at the right place. This is the best Doctor I’ve ever had. Great bedside manner and attention to detail. If you or anyone you know are having orthopedic issues or would like a second opinion I highly, highly recommend Total Sports Medicine.

Excellent results for both , hip and knee replacement

Dr. Joseph Yu performed a total reconstruction of my ACL and repaired a bucket tear of my meniscus. Its been 2 months and my rehab is right on track! Dr. Yu is the whole package. From my initial visit, to surgery and every follow up hes been great. His expertise and skills are at the highest level. Van Nguyen, PA-C is also amazing. Between Dr Yu and PA Van, someone is always available to answer questions and get follow up treatment. In fact the entire level of care and attention to all of my needs have been nothing short of amazing from his entire office. They have all made a difficult injury much easier to recover from. Suffered an 80% Achilles rupture back in January that ultimately needed surgery. Grateful for Van and Dr. Yu as well as the rest of the staff for taking great care of me and putting my mind at ease as I move forward through the recovery process to get back to my capabilities pre-injury.

Well at least I know why they make you pay up front. Was told something I had already known and had prior confirmed, with no resolution. Testing was basic. Spent the extra money. Went somewhere else and had the acute problem fixed before I got home. Ordered an ergonomic fix for the long term problem. Last time I take a referral. Also dont worry about masks they dont enforce it.

Dr. Yu is great. Highly trained and very good communication. After my partial knee, my friends, the PTs are all amazed how well Im doing. Saw other Orthopedists for consultation but they wanted to do total knee even though I only needed a partial. Dr Yu would not be the team doctor for UNLV if was not the best. This doctor has a very good team and this shows that they respect him and are aligned with the great work he is doing. You will love Dr. Yu.

Dr. McGee is a fantastic person to come to for easing patients into the prognosis. I felt like I was having therapy it felt so good just talking about my injury and outlook. Very real and just cool. Super knowledgeable and eager to make sure I got everything looked at that I needed to.

Dr. Yu and Dr. Nguyen are great surgeons and did a fantastic job on my knee replacement and I have recommended them to all my friends, family and coworkers. If I ever need any type of Knee or Hip surgeries it will be done by them.

I love Dr. Joseph Yu. He took care of my MTBing injuries and now Im into rehab and getting better.

Sadly, this has been my second procedure. But fortunately it was with Dr. Yu! Two years ago, Dr. Yu corrected a severe left knee meniscal issue due to a prior military injury and the result was great! So great in fact that when I tore my rotator cuff I came back to see him again. My procedure was on 1/12/2021 and the result has been great. I have had minimal pain and the doctor who did my first repair (this is a revision) was horrible. I am happy to trust Dr. Yu with any procedures since in Las Vegas you don’t normally find good medicine and he has been great! Hopefully I won’t need him again, but if I do him and his practice will take great care of me! By the way, Suzy, the surgery scheduler, has been AMAZING! (And my anesthesiologist was great with his nerve block!!) ok, I am done!

I had a great experience here. The staff was friendly and helpful, and Dr. McGee delivered big time for me. I had seen two doctors prior to him for my AC joint, and evidently, they both gave me erroneous information and wasted a lot of my time and money. Dr. McGee not only helped me with my injury, but he also he helped me regain my peace of mind.

Awesome! Went to a different doctor first. Told him I have tennis elbow, he told me I had carpal tunnel syndrome, refused to give me cortisone injection until I insisted. So on third visit he did, but it still hurt. I saw reviews of dr. Yu, so came here. Van the PA is awesome. Actually listened to my issues and dr. Yu gave me a shot. Pain went away. Go figure.

Dr. Yu is the best. I just had my knee injected and did not feel any pain from injection. He lets you know what is wrong. So you can understand. He also takes his time treats you like a person. Been to other doctors who have you in and out. Just for the money. His staff is very nice and professional. I tell everyone I know to see him.

Do not go to this office. You have been warned. if you still decide to go because of the reviews then at least be ready to write the services they provided so they wont charge you more than what they providedLong story short, I went on this office to have my Knee checked. They offered me a steroid shot and I refused because it is not inflamed and I dont want any medication in my body as much as possible. checked out at the office and was told by front office I dont owe anything. 3 weeks after I received a bill stating that i owe them 200 dollars and when I check the charges it was charging me for the visit and the Steroid shot which I refused. thats how messy their billing is at least. after back and forth email with them they finally adjusted it to the proper amount and I payed it to their office but it was sent back due to a non working address.Fast forward to now, I learned that my accounts was sent to collections. I made a mistake of not paying it timely ( yes I did ) but this office did not take responsibility on their mistake. I payed them already and called the collections agency and I was told that this office wont take my account back because it was late which would never happen if they charge patients correctly in the first place. their are a million things that is wrong in the medical field. I should know because I am a nurse and I see it everyday, at the end of the day its all about the business in their eyes. this might not change the fact that they are greedy people but i hope that this review might impact other potential Total sports medicine clients before actually going there.

Great ortho docs, every patient I have referred says they get excellent treatment. The Doc has personally called the patients post surgery to make sure all is well. I will continue to refer to this office.

Dr. Yu is very kind and helpful. He was very informative prior to and the day of my surgery and kept my wife well updated. His staff is very polite and responsive. I will be recommending him to any of my co-workers in the future if they need a good ortho.

Dr. Yu is an exceptional surgeon! He has given me back my life. I had a total hip replacement in February and another on the other side two weeks ago. Every time I go in there his coworkers say hi to me and when I am walking down to my room dr Mcgee always say my name and says hi while working on the computer. and when he get in to my room he says hi again and gives my knuckles. I have lost the use of my dominant hand thanks to Dr. McGees incompetence in the OR and refusal to be accountable for his mistake. In Sept. 2015 I had a rotator cuff repair with Dr. McGee that he assured me would be quick and easy, stating that Id be back in the gym climbing in 4 months. The surgery, however, resulted in the loss of function in three fingers, my hand, and wrist. He changed his surgical plan without consulting me and used a technique to repair my bicep that put him dangerously close to the median nerve, which he burned. This resulted in my living in excruciating pain for 7 months, losing the function of my thumb, index and middle fingers, sensation on the right side of my right hand and muscle in my forearm and hand dying because Dr. McGee did not take my injury seriously and he refused help me.After seeing a peripheral nerve surgeon, I was told the incision he made was not sufficient. I was referred to the top peripheral nerve surgeon in the US at Washington University in St. Louis where I had to undergo a series of nerve grafts and nerve transfers. Dr. McGee did not make any of these referrals despite my PT reporting that I was experiencing aggressive muscle waste. I was left to do my own research to find the appropriate surgeon to try to repair the damage done.I have permanent loss of function in my fingers, hand, and wrist because I was not referred to a nerve specialist following surgery and the muscle waste was too advanced.Dr. McGee also neglected to address that I was suffering from complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) type II post surgery and failed to prescribe the proper treatment that could have alleviated my pain.11/16 Update: It is more than a year from the initial surgery injury and six months since my surgery at Barnes-Jewish in St. Louis and I am still without function or sensation, though my fingers now bend. I will be having three additional surgical procedures in April 2017 where the hope is to restore the function of my fingers. The results of a Feb. 2016 MRI show that the shoulder repair failed, I still have a partial thickness tear of my supraspinatus tendon. I still experience pain on a daily basis.1/2017 Update: My fingers bend but I still cannot pull the trigger back on a bottle of Windex, I cannot write with a pen and I still type with six fingers. I still have pain in my fingers when its cold or when I am on a long flight.I am a former professional rock climber and while I am fighting and working very hard to regain use of my fingers. Dr. McGees mistake has changed by entire life --my ability to function at my job and enjoy my life.I recently met a person in Colorado who had something similar occur in a shoulder surgery, though she lost the function of her elbow. In just a few weeks, her surgeon deemed the injury severe (as was mine), he called and scheduled her with a peripheral nerve surgeon about 3 hours from her home, and covered all of her expenses included time lost from work. No lawyers or lawsuits --just integrity.Dr. McGees error has cost me tens of thousands of dollars. Please note that in Nevada there is a law that protects doctors, so if a mistake happens in surgery, it is your responsibility financially to fix it.When it comes to Dr. McGee, my advice is buyer beware.
