There is very little that is impressive about this park-at least on a hot dusty fall day. The surrounding areas are nice enough with the Joshua trees but the park itself offers little to write home about. Maybe in the cool spring with the wildflowers but certainly not when its dry, dusty and hot. The hike to the butts is not pleasant, the loose sand makes for a tedious and ponderous journey. There are so many other places to explore in socal.
Originally named Joshua Tree State Park. A small (in comparison to other parks), quaint, almost secret campground hidden in the antelopevalley desert. Usually not crowded, this park is quiet and allows for quiet reflection, hiking trails, a horse trail, day use sites and a compact campground.
Nice hiking and horse trails. Plus campgrounds and picnic areas.
Its a very basic, no hookup state park. Only half the park is open, 12+/- fairly level spaces. There is water, one flush toilet & a dump station for $10.00. The park could use some TLC.
Nic camp ground stars at b e a utiful at night the only reason Im giving it a 4 is because you can hear cars at night. But other than that its a nice desert camp ground second time here and will com back again!
As always this is a wonderful place to visit. Great hike to the top of the mountain and wonderful views if you make it all the way to the top.
Needs a new camp host but everything else was good.
Very helpful host.
The view from here in both the morning and evening are at times very breathtaking.very serene considering Ave. J borders the North side the Park.
