So far it’s been extremely frustrating. I have been trying to schedule an appointment for over 2 weeks with no luck. ETCH ER has sent over a referral twice. Most recently I was told by Child Neurology that this does not qualify as a referral as they are calling what was sent to them a “recommendation”. What in the world?!!!!Although I read multiple negative reviews I wanted to give this place a chance. Unfortunately very disappointed and frustrated.

Ive been trying to schedule an appointment with this place for 3 weeks now. 6 calls and still havent managed to do so. Ive jumped through all of the hoops they wanted. The referring physician has jumped through all the hoops they wanted. No one seems to understand whats going on or coordinate with each other within the office. Its an extremely frustrating experience so far.

These reviews are very accurate. Terrible attitudes and they dont want to be bothered with helping their patients.

The neurologist said your child is not completely normal but she wont do an MRI because it is only for informational purposes. She also said that his right side weakness might not be a weakness but instead a preference for his left side which goes against the professional opinion of his physical therapist who works with him on a weekly basis. It is sad that this is the only pediatric neurology clinic in East Tennessee.

My child has been seeing Dr. Kosentka since early summer 2020 and we have been very pleased with her and the entire office staff. Everyone has been knowledgeable, kind, responsive and incredibly helpful in guiding us through a difficult diagnosis.

Dr gammeltoft is wonderful and patient with children. However Jen and Jackie his office staff are horrible! I have never met a collection of women who think that they are so important that they dont need to listen to you respect you or be nice. Its like their sole purpose in life is to make you feel as less of a human being as possible while being on the phone with you. I see good manners of something of the past. It must be really hard to find office stuff cuz theres no way I could put up with that!

Dr. Savage is an angel, but the office staff is unorganized and rude. The nurse practitioner is also dismissive and rude. The reviews about calling are accurate too. They acted like they couldnt hear what I was very clearly saying over the phone. Its sad that this is the only pediatric option for kids. They deserve better.

Whoever answers their phone calls is very rude. Abruptly hung up on me. Just from my encounter with the front desk I dont think I want anything to do with this place.

If no stars was an option I would’ve chose it. DO NOT take your child here. They are extremely unprofessional. The front lady who answers the phone named Ashley is extremely rude and hung up on me. Called her back and said she would not speak to me because she couldn’t “understand me”. I speak fine English always have. I can make appointments no problem. I even spoke to a DOCTOR and he understood exactly what I said. She refused to talk to me and answered the phone very aggressively. I don’t know if she just hates her job, hates people, or doesn’t like that I speak Spanish. But nonetheless, she was extremely rude and unprofessional. Also, they force you to have a translator even if you don’t need one. I’ve never needed one in my life. I wouldn’t take my kid here if it was the last place open.

So I received a letter in the mail from them stating that they are no longer going to see my son. But the letter also says that he needs care for his condition. I had initially taken my son to them for recurring headaches. The specialist we saw said he was fine and didn’t need to come back. Now receiving this letter is concerning me since it claims that he in fact does need care! And I think they’re the only child neurologist in Knoxville. At the appointment I thought the doctor seemed capable and knowledgeable. But receiving this letter has me confused and questioning them. Perhaps it’s someone else in their staff with discrepancy. No phone calls, nothing but a letter of contradiction which has me doubting their competence entirely! I don’t know what to make of it and wondering if I may even need an attorney since I’ve been told my child needs care but they won’t care for him. Could there be something serious wrong that they’ve missed or maybe trying to cover?!? I should post a copy of this letter! They seem so incompetent to me now!

Dr. Jessica Sheah saw my sister. My sister has had 23 seizure- like episodes in a month and a half. She has been to the ER in an ambulance 6 times because of difficulty breathing.Dr. Sheah was rude and uncaring. She diagnosed my sister with anxiety fits. My sister told her she didnt have anxiety. Dr. Sheah called her a liar. This doctor totally overstepped her bounds as a neurologist. I wouldnt recommend her to anyone.

Doctor diagnosed my child with CP and never told us. They never can be bothered to call with results of EEGs even when follow ups are 6 months out. They are currently refusing to return my child’s seizure plan for school to me because all of a sudden it takes “10 to 12 days” to get a form signed that is completely filled out by the parent. This was not stated by the rude individual at the front desk when it was dropped off. This is unacceptable. Very poorly managed practice. My child sees a large number of specialists and this is the only office we ever have problems with. People are not kidding when they tell you to drive 3 hours to Vandy for a pediatric neurologist.

Im not really a fan of the hospital. But with that being said Dr. Sheah is amazing. In the fact that she was through and competent. She was great with my daughter. Which says alot because my daughter has sensory issues and doesnt take well to most doctors. Cant speak for the rest of nuerology but if you can get this doc.

Worst experience ever. He called me into the hall to say i had blessed him out...blessed out? Hardly! Firm? Definately. Even 2 nurses vouched he was unprofessional and his decision making made no sense to the situatiom. Back story...We scheduled an EEG for June. He hadnt sent the orders so no test was performed. After 4 calls from me to get a reschedule date and two calls from my childs pediatrician office, there were no return calls. Fast forward to now... Two ER trips over this past weekend turned into having my child sent and admitted to Childrens because our local hospital wasnt equipped with what they felt needed to be done. Childrens was amazing. He, however, gives it a bad name. He said he would get us a second opinion and we will be told the same thing he said. He discharged my daughter (at my request) with no second opinion set up, though i wouldnt trust him sending us elsewhere with the decision making skills he has. Never again will i step foot where he is. How he is still in practice is beyond me. Such a shame this office continues to have someone like him in their office.

If i could give them no stars, i would, because they dont deserve anything. Waste of time, my daughter was supposed to see the doctor, ended up seeing the NP who didnt know what she was doing. Never can get anyone to call you back. Worst people to deal with. The girls at the front desk are rude.

Im giving two stars, because the front office was efficient. My daughter has passed out twice, and had impact seizures, which both resulted in ER visits. Her PCP referred her to a neurologist. It was the biggest waste of time Ive ever spent at a doctors office. He basically told me my daughter was in puberty, having anxiety and he wasnt recommending further tests. He also made an innapropriate joke about her constipation. I usually highly recommend Childrens doctors, but NOT Dr. Dr. Karsten Gammeltoft. Never again will I take my child there.
