I must admit received better results than I expected. Initially I told myself this was not about vanity when I was considering this procedure. Nevertheless I was pleased when Dr. Goertz said I looked much younger. I could see this as we were viewing my post transplant pictures today. It worked for me!

During our session he wasted some time disparaging my doctor friend and made some inappropriate comments about her during our time together.Do understand what you are going in for. A hair transplant consultation is free but if he sees that you are not a good candidate then the conversation will be more of a medical consultation. I was not expecting this but that is what happened. That medical consultation was $175 and it was mainly Dr. G going through the list of vitamins and medication I should take and the foods/products I should avoid. It was a lot of information to take in but it was helpful. The vibe in the office between him and his assistant were not the best and at certain times I felt that Dr. G was being disingenuous.I am sure he does okay transplant work as he is very focused in this niche procedure but I dont know.

I infrequently write negative reviews as I try to weigh their impact on a business. At the same time, I appreciate being able to make an educated decision taking into consideration unbiased and candid reports. Heres my experience: I have suffered hair loss primarily on the top and back crown of my head. I researched options and had selected a skilled hair transplant surgeon in Reno based on a friends recommendation who had a similar hair loss type and had very positive results. Sadly, the surgeon was nearing retirement and was not accepting new patients. We found Seattle Hair Transplant in a in-flight magazine advertisement and decided to call. Sonia did an amazing job building up Dr. Goertzs experience and success and after a phone consultation with him, we felt pretty excited about the prospect of restoring my hair. He proposed a large number of transplants (over 4,000 follicular units) to get adequate coverage and, while the cost was substantial (over $13,000) and taking a week off work costly, we felt reassured by him that the results would be worth it.One year later, at the follow-up visit, as he reviewed before and after photos, it was clear that there was minimal change in hair coverage on the top and back of my head. I shared with him that I had anticipated a better result based on our pre-op discussion and website photos of other patients and Dr. Goertz admitted that it appeared my hair only showed roughly a 15% increase but defensively argued that it was considered success and not failure. He added that to get results similar to the website photos, patients at times have to do multiple transplants. He also shared that he made a choice to add more hair in the front receding line, which in his opinion is more critical, and he did not have enough transplants to get better coverage on the top and back. This greatly surprised us, as the front hairline was never an issue for me, nor was it brought up as a concern at the consultation. It was clear that he was trying to justify the less than ideal result.Heres my take from this experience: 1) our friend in Reno had warned us that such a large number of transplants in one visit was risky as a lot of them end up being shed (Dr. Goertz dismissed our concern), not to mention the pain and suffering was magnified by the extent of the procedure. 2) I would not have entertained this procedure had I been told to expect 15% coverage or the suggestion that it would take multiple transplants. At the end of the visit he did ask if I wanted another transplant but I am clearly not ready to invest another $13,000 to get an additional 15% coverage.

If youre reading this youre probably doing your due diligence prior to making a life-changing decision. I did the exact same thing as you and I hope my words will help guide you to where you need to go.For me, my two my considerations for a HT were price and quality of work; but not in that order. I got a HT to reacquire a self-image and identity I saw slowly running away from me. To get it back, I knew I needed to trust a licensed medical professional that not only specializes in the science of HT but also the art.Not only is Dr. Brian Goertz an MD he is also only 1 of about 95 full-time HT surgeons in the nation. A few thousand dollars of savings from other HT locations did not appeal to me. For what its worth, traveling abroad may lead to lower prices but I would caution you on the quality and honesty of work. Do your own due diligence and understand how long other HT surgeons have been practicing, how long their staff has been working with them, and if they are full-time versus part-time. In Dr. Brian Goertzs scenario, he checked all of these boxes for me. Hes been practicing for many years (I think 12 years as a HT surgeon but dont quote me on that), his nurses have been with him for a minimum of 10 years, and he is full-time.Now that Ive explained the importance of choosing your doctor let me tell you the benefits of Dr. Brian Goertz and why I chose him. His consultation was not a sales pitch. He even told me he will not be reaching out to me after our consultation because he does not want to pressure anyone into getting a HT. His office was sanitary and inviting. He had exceptional beside manner. His nurses are extremely experienced, friendly, and approachable as well as quick communicators.Another major factor in my decision was location. Im based in Seattle and I wanted a doctor that is local. Someone I can contact in case of emergency or questions I need answered. Additionally, Dr. Brian Goertz is passionate about HT and not just doing it for the financial reward. If you look on RealSelf youll see him actively answering patient questions across the forum.Hope this helps someone in the future make their decision.

This is my review of my HTS procedure. I havent seen the results yet so I cant speak to them but Im expecting pure awesomeness! When I went in for my consultation I could tell right away that HTS and Dr. Goertz were different. Id been to Bosley and another doctor back in Texas and they treated the whole process like an assembly line. They wanted to get me out of there as fast as possible and get on to the next person. I didnt like that at all. Dr. Goertz spent a long time with me, describing the procedure and what he does different than most other doctors. He also took the time to answer all my questions. After I booked, several new questions came up, and Sonia answered them all. Shes also just a super nice person :)On the day of the procedure, I was pretty nervous. But, from the start, Dr. Goertz and everyone there made sure that I was comfortable. There was a lot of humor and laughter which really lightened the mood and relaxed me. You can tell they all like working with each other. After the injections in the donor area, Dr. Goertz started working and immediately there were complications. I started feeling very nauseous and dizzy. I started sweating, and fainted completely dead out. Everyone there knew exactly what to do. They revived me and put me into a position to calm down. When I started feeling better, they went back to work and, it all happened again. Again, they let me relax until I was ready. They never pressured me to start again until I was ready. But... it happened again :) After the third time, they were able to improvise and allow me to stay in a position that made me comfortable while they did their work. I dont think most places would have done that. The lunch they provided was delicious! My surgery was done on Friday and on Saturday afternoon Dr. Goertz called me to see if I was ok. I appreciated that.I cant say enough good things. They do great work and theyre great people. I would recommend them to anyone!UPDATE:About a year later and the results are more than I could have hoped for. The before and after pictures are pretty unbelievable. More than that Ive come to recognize that Dr.Goertz truly cares about his patients. Hes spent as much time talking to me about not hair related issues Im having as he as on his work. A+ all the way, for the whole staff.

It’s been awhile since my hair transplant procedure and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I am excited every day to look in the mirror and see hair where there was none before. This was one of my best decisions ever. I now know that in the right hands that a hair transplant does look natural. I was skeptical before my procedure. Prior to surgery, Dr. Goertz sat down with me and showed me realistically what could be accomplished if I decided to move forward. He explained in detail how he would design my hairline and how he could create a natural hairline with no scars or pits. He wanted me to understand that he does not make new hair just rearranges what I have left to “reframe” my face and create good coverage of my balding scalp.Dr. Goertz loves what he does and it shows! My results are amazing. He is a gifted artist and surgeon. Dr. Goertz and his staff made my day comfortable and enjoyable. I spent a lot of the day watching television and just relaxing. So if you are like me and don’t like losing your hair call Dr. Goertz and see if you are a candidate. The procedure is easy and results are unbelievable.Al Murphy
