Review №2

2019 UPDATE: I received a text and several annoying phone calls from a woman named Judy at Kirkland Accounting. She offered me a $20 Starbucks Gift Card to remove my review. ABSOLUTELY NOT!After working with Kirkland Accounting Services for a couple of months, I feel eminently qualified to offer my opinion on whether or not someone in need of accounting help should consider hiring this firm. The easy answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT!An IRS audit is a very stressful time for most people, but its made much worse when the people who are supposed to be representing your interests with respect to the audit dont return your phone calls, lie to you and behave as if all theyre interested in is how much money they can make off you.Pamela Madlen, the president of this company, is in my informed opinion, a PREDATOR, someone who appears to exist to take advantage of people who are in the unfortunate position of having to deal with an IRS audit. When you pay a firm an up-front retainer of $4,000, you expect that firm to return your phone calls and communicate with you about your case. When you send a firm an entire years worth of bank statements and other documents, both personal and business, you expect to hear from them with questions or some sort of acknowledgement that theyve received your documents and are working on your file.Instead, this firm refused to return our phone calls and then one day about six weeks after we sent them our documents, they emailed us an invoice for $6,000, claimed that it was due immediately and demanded that we immediately provide bank account information for another $4,000 payment. When we understandably replied to them and asked that they provide us with updates on our case, they responded that they wouldnt talk to us about our case until we forked over another $4,000. When we asked for an estimate on how much the entire matter would end up costing (as we were extremely concerned about our ability to afford what we believed to be insanely excessive bills), we were told that it wasnt possible to give us an estimate. From the billing statements we received it looked like they were trying to charge us $30-40,000 to finish the matter (and refused to provide an estimate), so naturally we decided we werent going to continue working with this firm.So why were this firms bills so high? Because Pamela Madlens firm has decided that in addition to charging $175 per hour for their CPAs time (standard CPA rate I suppose), that they are going to charge their clients $85 per hour for everything their non-CPA office workers do, including the scanning of documents. Naturally, this was not something that Ms. Madlen bothered to tell us when we spoke with her on the phone and decided to hire her firm. Incredibly misleading and perhaps fraudulent! If youre looking to get the shaft, both from the IRS and your accounting firm, then by all means, go ahead and hire Kirkland Accounting Services. If not Id recommend looking elsewhere.
