Back in the 80s I was the chauffer for Madison House. I absolutely loved this job. No matter who I took shopping or to a Dr appt. everyone always seemed in a good mood. Some went every day and I loved the stories they told. (one gentleman had been a baby when the Titanic sank)! They always included me in conversation, bought me coffee and sometimes I would enjoy lunch with them. MH always included me in their Holiday parties. Im sure that over the years things have changed. But I bet one thing remains the same - kindness!

Mom is at MH with dementia, and the staff there does their best to care for her. With COVID it is difficult with the limitations that brings, but the staff I have met is compassionate and helpful and tries to support her in this challenging time. Its an older facility, but reasonably well maintained. I have met several nice residents who said they quite like staying there. Food is decent, location is good, a little off the beaten path.

This facility is good IF you don’t need any extra level of care. They do NOT have enough staff to cover how many residence they have. They say that they can cover all levels of care but they can’t. Beware.

My mother has been at Madison house for the last 2 years. I know she is well taken care of when we can not be there. While no place will ever be able to provide everything that you think your aging family member deserves, I am grateful that my mother is there. We have been able to adapt her care plan as her need for assistance changes. The facility provides a lot of activities for the residents and encourages family involvement. It is fun to say that many of the residents have become my friends as well and I look forward to their smiles and stories. I would have no reservation about recommending this facility for a loved family member.

We have had two occasions for our 90 year old, fiercely independent, mother to stay at Madison House. While the facilities and amenities are excellent, its the people that make Madison House outstanding. They walk the talk when it comes to being a family. From our first encounter with Ricky who made everything come together, to Maryenella in the dinning room, every encounter with staff reflected their commitment to providing a caring and quality home for our mother.

My wife and I were fortunate to stay at the Madison House for nearly 6 weeks while I was receiving treatment at Evergreen Hospital. It was extremely convenient requiring only a four minute daily walk to my treatment site. For those who need it, transportation is provided to the hospital and other medical facilities. The staff at Madison couldn’t be more helpful and friendly. The facility is well maintained and the apartments are cleaned weekly. There also free laundry facilities for personal clothing. We had our own kitchen facilities but only prepared tea, coffee and occasional snacks. For the rest, we looked forward to the three daily meals (and snacks) provided in the pleasant dining room. We found the food to be generally very good, with many choices and customized for a variety of individual needs and tastes. The various levels of care makes for an interesting mix of residents. We met many people and made some good friends. There were a variety of different activities and facilities available: movies, exercise programs, swimming pool, library, pool table, shopping excursions, and guided trips to tourist sites. Nursing staff is available 24 hours. There is parking at the facility and a bus transit center is nearby with connections to surrounding communities and Seattle. The alternative for our stay would have been to rent an ordinary apartment, but we would have had to shop for food, prepare our own meals and clean the apartment ourselves. Also, transportation would have been more of an issue (we didn’t need a car). Madison House offered a good social situation as well. My wife was not there for nine days and I would have been a bit lonely by myself in an anonymous apartment. Moreover, if I had needed emergency medical help, it was readily available at Madison.
