When my husband and I moved to the island during lockdown, we needed to find a “community”. We found The Gym Maui + Makena CrossFit and immediately felt like we “belonged”. Paul (the owner) and his staff instructors helped custom tailor our workouts, while the support from others in class cheered us on, even when we’re not the fastest, strongest or fittest. We love that we can find a class time that works with our ever-changing schedules. If you want a “community” that will allow you to learn at your pace, you’ll find it here!

Felt so welcomed the minute I entered the building. The amenities are wonderful and clean and there are options for every skill level. I attended the gym during COVID times (July 2020- May 2021) and never once felt unsafe or uncomfortable. Highly recommend this gym if youre ready to challenge and better yourself, and make gain some family along the way!

I first came to Makena 3 years ago and had the BEST TIME! The community was so friendly and welcoming and Paul made the box feel like my home away from home! So much so, that 3 years later, I came back and stayed for a month!Everyone at Makena and The Gym is awesome! They care deeply about members and visitors alike. The Gym Maui is an excellent gym with a wide assortment of equipment in top condition as well as the space. They have top shelf trainers & a physiotherapist on staff. Within this last year theyve expanded & added more ways to train athletically which also includes a boxing ring. The owner & people are friendly & customer service oriented. They also have work out accessories & I was able to get quality, wide toe box tennis shoes there that I havent been able to find just anywhere. It is also kept clean. They have a variety of classes as well. I was surprised that after just a couple of visits, one of the staff called me by name & the others recognized me too welcoming me back. Its close to nearby shops too. Great place to work out!!

Out of all the gyms in Maui and I live in New York City the Gym Maui s the most amazing space I have found on the Island that provides me the open air quality I love.I have spent in Summer in New York City working out at the Equinox Hudson Yards which is literally the nicest gym in the USA at $300 per month and yes it has an indoor pool and outdoor pool Jacuzzi and cold pool but when I’m in Maui working out at the Gym Maui, I don’t miss New York at all!If you’re looking for a gym that’s open air and has lots of mirrors that you can work out in front of along with tons of equipment and weights, not to mention all the classes they have to offer you should seriously consider working out here!

Makena CrossFit has become our own home away from home. We try to visit Maui annually and year after year, this place has yet to disappoint. The moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with open arms, big smiles and friendly faces from the members and the coaches alike. It’s clear this place is focused on more than your overall health and well being. They’re accommodating and even supportive with recommendations too! We’ve gotten some great tips over the years!! I moved to Maui a few months ago. Joining a new gym is always a little intimidating, even more so when you’re new to an island. This wasn’t the case here. Paul, the owner, and the other staff really make this place feel like home. It’s clear their focus is on the health and wellness of all of their members; this is evident in the quality of the facility and the culture Paul and his dedicated team foster. 10/10 best gym experience I’ve had anywhere. We found this gym about a year ago. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Paul (the owner) who showed us around, asked us about our goals and made us feel comfortable & welcome. The gym is open, filled with fresh air and kept very clean. They have the best water on the island (it’s all my husband and I drink) and the locker rooms are perfect!My husband tried a CrossFit class for the first time and was inspired by Paul’s excellent coaching and commitment to safety while working out. I enjoy the cardio room upstairs, as well as the wide variety of weight lifting equipment downstairs. Not only do we have all of our fitness needs met, and questions answered but we also purchase our supplements through the gym as well as our shoes. They have a phenomenal massage therapist & a killer smoothie bar. The gym feels like a family- a strong, supportive, uplifting Ohana. All of our thanks to Paul for creating this top of the line fitness club. It’s one of our favorite things about living on Maui.

Aloha!We live on Maui part time and quickly realized we needed a routine that mirrors what we have on the mainland. We were searching for a Crossfit gym that worked for us. We visited a few gyms near us in Kihei and once we stepped into Makena CrossFit we knew it was our place! The gym is well maintained, clean, organized and welcoming. Coach Paul, also the Owner, was there on our first visit. He is a hands on Owner Operator that is in his gym daily, coaching all hours of the day. We are very impressed with the programming and the options of classes that are offered. Classes are coached with great communication and motivation that you want to stick with it! We are so happy to be part of the Makena CrossFit community, a community with much Aloha Spirit!

Stopped into Makena CrossFit while in Maui for a week. The owner, Paul, was super accommodating and welcoming. He first gave us a tour of the gym and made sure we understood the programming. The gym was clean and organized and we had all the equipment we needed, plus locker rooms, showers, filtered water, massage tools, etc. The members were super nice and we got great Maui recommendations from both Paul and the other locals. Would definitely recommend dropping in here and working out!

Great place, and Paul (owner and coach) is very knowledgeable and supportive of not just those starting their physical improvement journey, but also their mental health improvement journey. As someone with tremendous social anxiety/aspergers, Paul has really helped me find a way to incorporate crossfit into my life as well as help guide me towards things that have helped me reduce and improve my anxiety.Highly recommend this gym/box to anyone on island!

I have been a member of several Crossfit Gyms in the last 10 years. Makena Crossfit is by far my favorite. Coach Paul is the heartbeat of the gym and the community is a direct reflection of his leadership. Hes an athlete first coach and pays great attention to detail on each individual athletes strengths and weaknesses and tailors their Crossfit journey around that. Cannot recommend this place enough!
