We got the FLT and Italian sub and were absolutely blown away. Hands down the best deli sandwiches I’ve tried in 5 years being vegan no joke. I could eat that Italian sub every day and be so happy. The staff were very friendly and the market had a large variety of products. Definitely recommend this gem!!

(COVID time review) This place was so small and cute the staff was very friendly. I ordered the daily pasta special that the staff recommend. The pasta and the salad were delicious but the bread they gave me I did not care for much. Highly recommend this place for any vegetarians visiting Key West. 8/10

Old time local health food store, lots to look at in hard to find specialized products and delicious Cafe located on site! Very pricey but that is unavoidable. Love this place started coming when I first moved here in 93 . Stopped shopping here for a couple of decades ( drugs and booze) and happily I plan on shopping here again and hopefully for a very long time to come . Namaste

This little place was so nice that we came back a couple more times during our trip to KW.The staff was sweet, the service was as fast as we would expect for a freshly-made meal, and the food was very tasty! The Reuben with the salad was perfect energy for the day of golf carting we had planned.The seating is a bit tricky as the dining area is very small. We had our fur baby with us, so we sat outside at a little round table with an umbrella and enjoyed our lunch in the sunshine.We will definitely be back - for the food and for the adorable grocery store. What a nice little find!

The gentleman that runs this place is a sweetheart. They are willing to do special orders. The staff was polite and funny. The store is very well stocked and the Cafe filled the store with pleasant smells.

What a terrible owner this place has.I went to sugar apple organic Cafe every single day of my stay at key west, not because the food was any good but only because it was the only organic fully vegan place I found there.If anything the portions were small and the food was the equivalent of what I would quickly make at home if I wasnt in the mood for cooking but it was vegan and organic so there I was.I am a foreign diplomat and have a tax exemption card from the US government which means that by law no business in the US can charge me for tax. This is stated very clear on my card which is signed by the US government.On the first 2 days I went there I presented the card to the person behind the cashier and had no issues whatsoever. On the last day the owner happened to be there and let me tell you that in my 37 years on this planet and after serving my country in China, Colombia, México, Middle East and other countries, never have I ever encountered such degrading and humiliating service.Not only did the owner charge me tax but he argued that it was just a dollar and a half and isnt a big deal. I explained that my card was accepted in his store the previous days and that by law he is not allowed to charge me tax and that it wasnt a matter of how much the tax was more of principal. He then got even more aggressive and and told me he basically didnt feel like doing it cause he didnt have a computerized system and he wasnt going to open a file for me. He could have easily found another solution like discounting the tax equivalent, after all like he said it was only a dollar and a half. I told him what he was doing was a federal offense and he told me not to trouble him with my nonsense!!!He then had the odesity to ask me if I wanted to leave a tip?!? And I said no thank you, he then started laughing and said well I guess you guys dont top either!! After I left a tip every other day I was there. I mean this guy couldnt get any more rude.I called the ministry of foregien affairs and they should take care of it but I highly encourage you to stay away from this place.I believe as vegans our main goal is promoting kindness to all living creatures and that is definitely not what this guy represents.

This is one of the best places to be in Key West if you are looking for some great vegan food. Again, like many other cafes in Key West, its a grocery store + cafe. Great food. They have a low seating capacity - a majority of the folks just do a takeaway. Great staff.Food:We went for Pesto Rice and Grilled Tofu Sandwich. Both the dishes came with a side of salad and also had a good overlap of ingredients which we realized later on. Pesto Rice was totally amazing. The rice was well cooked and tasted great. The tofu was very well grilled and along with the rice and vegan pesto, gave an amazing combination. Grilled Tofu Sandwich was great. The bread was amazing - something which is also key to an amazing sandwich but often ignored. However, these guys nailed it. The filling inside was great - the freshness of avocado and the greens, along with the amazing grill on the tofu brought amazing flavors together. The salad with Tahini sauce on top was too good.For drinks, we went for Bright Eyes (apple, carrot, celery, spinach) and a Banana Pineapple smoothie which was great. Bright Eyes is a must try.Ambiance:The ambiance as well is very vegetarian and vegan-friendly. In a tight space, they have tried to create an atmosphere that encourages vegetarian and vegan diet - with lots of books on the topic, a cool t-shirt that says V for Vegetarian, a plate that says Will travel for vegan food and of course, the menu. They have a small seating capacity of 5-6 people inside the cafe (high chairs with a wooden platform against the wall acting as a table) and one round table outside for those who enjoy street view. A majority of their customers seemed to be doing a to-go.Staff:The staff was quite good and service was pretty quick.Overall, a great place to have breakfast/brunch. Definitely to be tried if you are a vegan.

Sugar Apple serves a great need as the go-to health food store in Key West, a true mom-and-pop store that has soul. It is a pleasure to work them on the back-end to supply them with our product. In a day and age where retailers purchasing procedures are becoming computerized and no longer face, it is a pleasure to hear from Francesca for each of their orders and to work directly with them, person to person, and this is why we went this way to work with retailers like them to start with. Just off Duvall this quaint organic, fair trade, non-gmo locals place serves the best avocado toast. Full juice bar with smoothies and a little convenience store where the labels of the more discerning label seekers can find all they are looking for.

The flavors all resembled an actual BLT—thanks to the Fakin’ Bacon primarily. The peaceful tempeh was a thanksgiving sandwich and tasted like it! The cranberry and tempeh together took me right back to all the good flavors of Thanksgiving.Service****Fast and friendly and were quick to answer all questions that we asked.Atmosphere***Cute and cozy with a very limited seating but some outside and inside. They are attached to a market that smelled amazingly good too!Price$$Not the cheapest but worth it!

AVOID - DOES NOT ENFORCE MASK RULESThe restaurant part does not enforce mask rules.We came in to order food and there was a person without a mask sitting across from the food prep person. They were having a conversation with no regard to masksMind you no food was even in front of the person being served. But food was being prepared.When I asked the person behind the register about this was told masks are not needed in restaurants.1. I believe this is only the case while eating2. The should not have customers directly across from an unshielded food prep area.Bottom line is this is a health food store. Both healthy and ill people visit such places and one would think the stated rules would be the minimum.Here even the minimum is not enforced.AVOID!

Great vegan restaurant! I eat in this restaurant at least once a week. My favorite thing on the menu is the pesto rice I highly recommend it. The food is great and the employees are friendly and the best. I have eaten most things on the menu and everything is great.

I’m still dreaming of the sandwiches smoothies and all the yummy fresh food here I’ll be back for a visit soon enough but I forgot to leave a good review before so I’m returning it now

I LOVE THIS PLACE SO MUCH. Just everything about it. The great helpful staff that are always having good energies. The atmosphere, the selection and of course the food. All fresh and organic and the prices are great and fair especially in the expensive key west that as the ONLY vegan restaurant around could easily over charg. Even who ever is not vegan love the food. Yummy.

Really good fresh food that is good for you too! And at a good price. Sound like I think this is a good place? Well, I think it is so good that it is great! An oasis of wholesome good food. (That said, I must say I very much enjoy the less wholesome food in Key West too!)

Stopped in here visiting the keys. Picked up a few goodies we dont have in Canada. I was excited to find this place. If I lived the keys Id be a frequent customer for sure. Cute shop, good selection for the size. My only critical criticism is that the one person that helped me wasnt knowledgeable on the certain product I was looking for; vegan eggs. He recommended an egg replacement which he told me was the same as the follow your heart eggs. I was in a rush to go to the airport so I didnt realize it till I got there. He however was friendly and eager to help so thats why I think its a 4.5 star. Im not mad just disappointed I cant try the product.:)

This is a must stop place to eat for vegans visiting Key West.They only use quality vegan ingredients and I have never had anything bad here yet.Attached to the health food store, they know how to make quality sandwiches, etc here.I recommend this place for lunch even if you are not vegan, but are looking for a healthy meal.I hit it up everytime I get close to Key West, a Sugar Apple run is necessary.Take note if when they are open though, as I made a trip from Marathon one day just to eat here and they were closed that day.

The Big Bear used to be nice, ran down and closed. I confused Sugar Apple and the Big Bear in Pennington, NJ. The latter was closed. The Sugar Apple in Key West is good and thriving for shopping. I like going there even when I am not buying anything. I learn a lot from the staff. The service is also excellent.So sorry to the management of Sufar Apple.

The only place in town for vitamins & supplements, also great food! The staff are amazingly informed on any question you might have - theres no better.

Vegan deliciousness! If you were to run a store /cafe this would be the way you would do it. We shopped at the natural food market that was well organized, fully stocked, and diverse. The veggie deli was quaint with friendly service. We ordered the Peaceful Tempeh Sandwich & Salad with Key Lime Dressing. As well as the Veg Italian Sub. Every bite was eaten. Talked with the employees and locals. Thanks for a fantastic experience. We will be back agas in and again.

Absolutely delicious! Great vegetarian options, so glad we found this spot before we headed out of town. Would highly recommend to any vegetarians!! Didnt have juice although they all looked amazing! I had the Tempeh Rueben, would definitely suggest trying this. It was SO good! Staff is friendly and fast! The health food store is unique and quaint, with awesome options that I dont normally get in my small town. Definite must try!!

Delicious!! We came in for lunch, I had the vegan pasta pesto came with salad and a yummy! garlic bread.My husband had the Italian veggie sausage he loved it too. We enjoyed it so much we ordered dinner to go.

This review is for the grocery side of the business.Ive been in a couple of times ... it is so hard to find things as theyre not organized in any logical way.Last time I was in, there were two people working, but they were conducting pleasantries with another customer for about 5 minutes. I didnt interrupt and they didnt stop chatting, though I stood there like a dolt as I couldnt find the 5 items (supplements) that I wanted. I walked out. The time before this, the clerk tried to help me, but she also seemed to have trouble locating the item I wanted. Eventually, she found it and the purchase was made. I also bought 3 other items during this visit.Today, I went in to return a product that I felt was not satisfactory. The clerk offered to help (after I loudly cleared my throat so he would come to the front of the store). When I explained my situation, he suggested I come back two hours later when the owners would be there. Ideally, he should have explained he wasnt authorized to approve the return but would take my contact information for the owners to contact me. I dont have the desire to walk there again (about 15 minute walk) to discuss it with the owners, so I told him to throw it away.Unfortunately, three strikes and youre out. I always prefer to support local businesses. I guess the $500 or so dollars I spend annually on these types of products will have to go to an on-line company.Customer service is the name of the game - especially in todays market where ANYTHING can be purchased at the click of a mouse. I hope they perform better for their future patrons.

The girls who work in the cafe are nasty and rude. One is a thief and the other two are followers. I refuse to go to this place anymore because I dont want their bad energy transferred into the food I consume. Ive been in KW for 15 years and Ive complained many times to the manager. The workforce is so sub par in KW the manager keeps these nasty ladies on payroll because they probably show up 75% of the time. Tisk, tisk
