A favorite stop on our drives to Mexico. Provides access to the riverfront bike and walking path. The park has a trail network which can be walked or for mountain bikes. Kerrville is a nice gateway to the Texas hill country.

The campsites are nicely taken care of and is mostly clean. Access to to the river is convenient and fishing is good for kids and families. The restrooms do need better ventilation as during the summer they are a bit uncomfortable. The campsites we stayed at (7 & 8) are a bit close the road so it is not very quiet at night. Additionally there was loud music that Saturday night we stayed from across the river that went on from the afternoon through 11 pm.

I love this park. It is huge, lots of camping, clean, great RV sites with electric and water or full hookup. There are about 10 miles trails all over the park for biking and hiking. You can also stay long term, up to three months for a monthly rate. Pretty close to shopping opportunities, one side of the park is right by the river. Its a great place to stay a few months if you need a long term place. I spent a few days here in April, it was not crowded, nice and green. Even though it says there is laundry in the park, the washing machines dont work.

It feels like youre away from city life, and yet its only a 5-minute drive to HEB, multi-screen theater, hospital, and more. Well-tended, spacious campsites, and generally not crowded except weekends. Tip: unless you absolutely must have 50 amp service, dont stay on the river side of the highway. The other side is much nicer, but the electrical service is 30 amp.

April 2021 RV two nightsCountry (forest) feel and city location makes a perfect combination for all.The highway splits the park - half by the river and half across the way. All green as can be.Hiking (walking - strolling) and biking along the wooded paths or paved 7 mile river trail are the main activities we enjoyed.Kayak - if you have one.Nature center is worth a visit near the river bike trail starting point.A thank you shout out to Debbie, the friendly, helpful ranger who assisted us in reservations and check in.

The city has done an amazing job of taking care of and improving this precious property. I enjoyed camping, hiking, and mountain biking on the hill side of the park. It was evident that someone had worked very hard to clean up in the aftermath of our devastating winter storm. I am proud to have this gem in our community.

Wish we had more time to explore the surrounding trails but we were only there for one night. The park is clean and the staff are friendly. The RV sites were oddly configured with the electrical and water connections on the right side of the driveway. Most other campgrounds have all connections on the left. The dirt trail along the river is a very pleasant shaded path that connects the Day use area with the cabins . Great for a walk on a warm muggy day. We will definitely book a camp site here the next time we visit Kerrville.

If you can get a campsite on the river side then you will most likely be very satisfied. If not and you get a spot on the other side, not that great. There is a giant highway that separates the river from the other side camping area so you have to leave all of your stuff and drive to the water. Plus the otherside is like camping in the middle if a field with a few cedar trees and roads everywhere. Garner state park is an order of magnitude better but you need reservations about a month in advance. The positive aspect is that the river is very nice.

Nice hike, very easy trails almost no climbing.Entry costs $6. The headquarters is located on the other side of the road - you buy the entry ticket there . I did all trails ( red, yellow , orange, green) except the blue in about 3 hours.Speaking of climbing , only the orange loop trail has climbs and in my opinion, it’s the nicest part of the hike , it offers great views .The orange loop seemed complicated on the map, but you just need to stick to the signs/ arrows they set there and you’ll be fine.

Pretty mellow place. The river is very wide and fairly deep. As far as tent camping I would recommend site 8.. 14 is also a very nice plot. Seems to be well maintained so thats good! The RV. Area isnt as nice as the camping area in my opinion but there are hook ups so if thats your thing then youll have it made. Convenient store is a block away for supplies and just in case there is a Papa John pizza and some brews and Dawgs place... Enjoy!

This is an outstanding park, run by city of Kerrville, TX. Rates are very reasonable, sites are far enough away to enjoy the scenery , peacefulness and quietness; but still close enough for friendly encounters with other campers. White tail deer are abundant and easily seen, but no feeding allowed. It is also close to the Guadalupe River and fun there.

Beautiful park, with a lovely camping area. I gave it 3 stars due to the strange people who hang out in the park. While I was playing with my child alone I noticed a van circling the park first two men in suits came out and approached a couple maybe 200 or more yards away. I saw them talk to the couple for a little but didn’t think anything of it. Then the men got back in and drove slowly passed the camping area. I told my kiddo look don’t get scared but I think this van is going to approach us (used the safe word) he said okay mommy you do the taking. Sure enough red van pulls up next to us while we’re eating snacks in the back of my car. This time a woman came out and the men in suits did not, as she approached us maybe 20ft away I kindly told her “we’re at the park enjoying ourselves, that I kindly decline anything she wanted to share with me” the woman had a binder of paper with her. She probably wanted to pray or recruit me to her religious group. Whatever it was I was firm in my statement . “Thank you but no thank you” she then says it’s just something positive we wanted to share. I then grip my waist where I carry my safety knife and hand my phone to my son who begins calling grandma. Once again “thank you but no thank you” (firmer and with an irritated tone) She sees this and turns around they sit in their van for awhile and then drive away. Since I’m not from this town we left immediately. It may have been a religious group trying to share scripture, but this mom was not taking any chances. Be careful and aware of your surroundings. Also don’t harass a mom alone with her kid especially in Texas.
