If your dog isnt acting right, this is the place to go. The workers are awesome and really nice. They go above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied with their services. Before off the chain, my dog was so uncontrollable that I couldnt even take him for a walk. Look at him now! Thank you OTC K9! πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—

At the clutch media car park meet, we noticed β€œoff the chain” k9 training was walking dogs around letting people pet them, we approached them with my brother holding my 3 year old, and asked if it was okay for us to pet the dog, as the lady said yes that’s fine! The gray and white pit jumped up and hit my sons ankle piercing the skin and drawing blood..(I have pictures) this β€œprofessional trainer” walked away saying nothing except β€œsorry about that”, no one even tried to make sure he was okay or the condition of the bite! EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL and traumatic.****%*#*#*# UPDATE!! : the owner of OTCK9 training personally reached out to me and stated they have come up with some new protocols in regards to the incident! I’m thankful for his response, concern, and understanding in this situation.

The trainers at OTCK9 know their stuff. My dog was very aggressive and after their two week boarding and train program he was a new dog! We did follow up obedience training so I could learn how to lead my dog and it was great! I will only take my dog here for day school and boarding from now on.

I cant say enough good things about Darrell and his staff. They care for my dog like their own. Our dog was in the 30 day board and train program and the results are amazing. Our pup is high strung and very determined but with her training, and the training I received, we are doing very well. I will continue to take my dog to Day School as the training will always be key in maintaining a happy life for both of us. I highly recommend OTCK9 for your training needs.

I highly recommend OTC K9. Darrell is a true leader and his team does a great job. We like how they train using command, correct and praise methods without using a shock collar. We also like that they take the time to understand the familys training needs and also work with the family afterwards to reinforce the proper behavior by both the owners and the dogs. We also enjoy the pictures posted on their Facebook page.

If you have an obedience issue, sign your pup up for Off the Chain K9. The 6-week class was incredible, and our dog was leash walking instead of human-dragging in one week. We mostly learned how we, the humans, are doing things wrong. Not the pup we rescued. Darrell and his team give tools, handouts, and hands-on training to help you learn how to work with your dog. The cost was not prohibitive, and seemed like a steal once we had completed 6 classes and could communicate with our dog.

Phenomenol training experience with Darrell and his entire team! Took both of our dogs to the same class. Loved the real world outdoor park training with distractions. Got lots of insights into our dogs actions, concrete dos and donts, and practical tips from the numerous staff members who were on hand for every training class. My husband and I have progressed well in our training :) - we all know its more about the owner than the dogs after all!

This place is Awesome!First, something that everyone (unfortunately but understandably) has to think about, cost:IMO prices for training, boarding, and grooming at OTCK9 are very fair and affordable. They offer multiple training packages at various price ranges. Also they offer a veteran/military discount for our service members.Second, quality of services: The staff is very friendly and their knowledge and devotion to training is always apparent. The more classes I attend with my doggo it feels more like a family we’re joining than simply a service I’m paying for. Moreover, the results of training in this environment were immediately noticeable from day 1.Third, safety: safety for me, my pup, and others was obviously a great concern. I have a large guardian breed (French Mastiff) and I known I was somewhat apprehensive on how she would react in an unknown environment. OTCK9 always puts an emphasis on safety, the trainers are very attentive to K9 body language and personalities, new dogs (of varying energy levels) and people were introduced gradually and any issues were addressed as they presented. As of now I would have no hesitation leaving my pup for doggy daycare or boarding with OTCK9.In conclusion, I am more than happy with my experience at Off The Chain K9. My pup gets excited to β€œgo to school” and after every lesson I also walk away with more knowledge on how to be a calm confident leader for my dog. 10/10 would recommend!!!

Truly an amazing experience with OTCK9! I couldn’t get enough of Darrel and the training team’s guidance! Wonderful trainers all around and a very immersive experience for pup and handler both. I left OTCK9 with more confidence in myself as a leader and a much stronger bond with my pups. My first dog Moose and I participated in their 6 week beginner obedience program and it molded us both into being better companions to one another. Recently my youngest pup Margo also graduated the class and we couldn’t be more thrilled with our progress (my spouse and I moved out of state but I had driven all the way back for 6 weeks, schedule allowing, to take Margo through the same course Moose had gone through when I lived in GA). A much needed experience for two very different dogs! Moose is a go getter who just needed some guidance and outlet for his energy whereas Margo was very timid and afraid of anything outside of our home. Very different dogs but the training worked for them both and now were a confident and happy bunch together! It’s amazing how universal this training can be! The team is extremely welcoming, the environment is comfortable and very very fun! I left every session feeling my confidence in myself as a handler as they eased some of my frustrations and walked me through exactly how to handle and communicate with my pups! The dogs both loved every class and they too gained so much confidence and enrichment through this program! Lastly, day school is also an amazing resource for the dogs when we didn’t have an open schedule or more work was needed for Margo. The trainers are extremely attentive to each dog and their areas needing some work. Would 1,000,000 out of 10 recommender Off The Chain K9 to anyone I know!

I reached out to β€œOff The Chain K-9 Academy” after a neighbor told me about the training they had received there. I spoke with Darrel and inquired about what types of programs they had available. He was a nice gentleman. I actually wanted to wait until after my puppy had all of his shots and then I would be enrolling. I mentioned the place to my neighbor as well because he had a puppy a couple of weeks older and he enrolled his puppy there.Fast forward... I called to schedule a time for my puppy to be enrolled, the communication got progressively worse and worse. I was told by Darrel that he had my puppy on the calendar and he would send me an email as well. I never received an email. I have called back 3 more times and spoke with Devin and left messages for Darrel to return my phone call.I have yet to hear back from anyone. One would think with a premium price they are getting for the services that the response would be first rate. The price that I was quoted was $2500. It’s rather rude to not return calls. If they didn’t want to take my puppy that’s fine. I did refer one client there and I will no longer be an advocate for this business. If your customer service is this poor prior to me bringing my puppy in I can’t imagine how terrible it really is during or after the fact.So glad I dodged a bullet. Myself nor my dog need services from Off The ChainI would highly recommend another facility!I just received a call from Darrell with Devin on the phone. Seems they don’t like Darrell doesn’t like reviews that are negative. He said I’ve never met your dog.He was very disrespectful when he called me. Yes he has my number and he does know my dog. They dropped the ball and he said to me seems that he is the one that dodged the bullet! Trust me I do not need your services. I furthermore will make sure anyone who asks I will deter them from coming here. As you said to me on the phone lose my number. I will ask you to do the same!I do not do business with such arrogant people and furthermore you acted like you wanted me to come speak to you in person stating you’ll be there until 6.He also said he didn’t care about reviews. Seems that’s a lie as well!Get a life man !You can report this review as well! The truth hurts but this is a legit review! To the response:I am glad I have never met you! You are arrogant and you don’t have to worry about my dog. He’s in fantastic hands. Unlike any of the contact you provide to your customers and those poor dogs!Good day !

Edited to add: Both Poppi and Lumen have been checked by their vets, and three days post-boarding, they tested positive for fecal hookworms. Please bear with me, as this is going to be a long review. If you have smaller dogs, AVOID AVOID AVOID.Tl;dr: They refused to administer medication, fed my dogs incorrect amounts of food and attempted to change their diet (I did NOT consent), did not train them or fulfill their basic boarding promises, and when I tried to get proof of their skills they had mastered, I was lied to, and Darrell deflected me repeatedly. This will be going to court. I will update this review as the story unfolds further. What can they do better? Heres a starter list for them. (Also, if you care to see how they handle complaints, look at how unprofessional their responses to anything negative are.)1. Provide a contract upon time of service signing and allow the owner to have a copy of it when asked.2. They did not feed my dogs the appropriate amount of food, despite my explicit instructions -- one of my dogs was overfed by 33% ever day for 13 days before I asked why they were running out of food so quickly, when I was told that they were not following the feeding guide I gave them.3. Deliver on training promises *at minimum* the ones they list on their website under each package (they could not provide proof of this and denied my request for a full skills check).4. Speak to paying customers who are entrusting their beloved pets to their care like they are humans and not children, specifically women.5. Do not threaten physical violence when a discussion regarding a breech of contract is being initiated.6. Give medication as directed (by the vet and owner).7. Feed them the food provided, without altering their diet (especially without the owners consent).8. Do not blatantly lie about progress updates (i.e., 5 days into their 17 Board & Train, I was told: They have mastered all of the basic obedience skills already and have learned how to use a bell to let us know they want to potty! & No signs of aggression at all towards each other or other dogs.) The following day, I was told there were signs of aggression and that they were having difficulty with playtime.9. Do not insult the owners, yell/raise your voice and accuse them of lying when you know that *you* were the one lying. Do not use lowly, repulsive intimidation tactics (You better be glad that Im not losing my cool on you lady!)10. Treat your employees with more respect, know what is going on inside your facility, and have better monitoring systems.11. Above all, DO NOT make clients resort to calling the police to get their dogs back when you refuse to discuss the breech of contract and are not even willing to provide video proof of training and their skills mastery.PS- As an addendum, it would also probably be helpful if you didnt allow the owner of your business to make derogatory marks about clients vehicles (Direct quote: Use your money to go buy a new car!). You also probably shouldnt take joy in leaving clients in tears, but thats just a suggestion! These are some pointers I believe Darrell and his wife should genuinely make attempts to work on! The other employees were extremely kind and, I believe, NOT bad faith actors.PPS- The four referrals for Board & Training I was going to give you are dead. Treat your existing customers better, and you will have better luck in the future.Attached are emails that show their unwillingness to provide proof. After 5 hours of working on their training video, it was still uploading.Edited to add: They are now attempting to sue for defamation and have threatened with a lawsuit. I will update this as the saga continues. Also, choke collars were given to me as a parting gift of sorts -- chained ones that I specifically requested not be used. Please do your research before entrusting anyone with your loved ones (babies).

I’ve been bringing my dog - Doberman Pinscher (Vaughn) to OTCK9 since he was a 9wk old puppy starting off in the puppy bootcamp. Darrell/Kim along with their staff are the consummate professionals and very knowledgeable of all dog breeds. Vaughn is 11 months old now and he still continues his training at OTCK9 as needed along with daycare which he truly enjoys. The OTCK9 team is extension of our family and is a business I would recommend to anyone looking to get their dog(s) trained. They go above and beyond to ensure your dog has a great experience!!!

Had a wonderful experience with OTC K-9. I rescued a German Shepherd named Roxee who came from a very abusive background and was having behavioral issues that included major aggression towards my brother which included her biting him several times. They were able to turn her behavior around and she now respects him and they have a good relationship. I loved their positive reinforcement and not the fear or treat training that some others recommended. I would recommend their services and would use them again.

The basic training course has been outstanding for my golden doodle puppy. Our golden is about 9 months old and always very difficult to get calm when guests came over. He’d jump on the guests and was very hyper. We just finished week 5 of the six week course. That same day we had about 15 guests come over. The dog was calm, sat and let guests approach him when they wanted. All of our guests remarked on how well behaved our dog was! Just signed up for the intermediate class. Can’t recommend strongly enough for both the quality and the value!

Devon and Darrell are masters of their craft! After taking our anxious dog to them and working with them both for the last 6 weeks it’s like we have a new dog. The steps they laid out for dog training were very easy to follow and understand and we could see the difference it made in our dog with each week. Having completed the 6 week beginner course we are looking forward to doing the advanced class. Our dog is so obedient and excited to do his training I can’t believe it. You can’t go wrong using them!

Miracle workers. My dog is no longer the one in charge of my home and anyone who enters it. The entire staff is amazing and they truly want you to succeed and care about the dogs. Best experience ever. I want to go back and learn more. My family told me Seven would end up training the trainers. Not so. It was a complete success. Even other people have commented on the positive change. Nobody thought it would work. Off the chain proved them wrong.

You couldnt ask for better trainers! My dog, Penny, has been training with the OTC guys since she was 16 weeks old. Shes just a few classes away from CGC certification. The trainers are retired marines, and they know their stuff! They have the gear, the knowledge, and the experience to turn your dog into the perfect pup. They have given me impromptu private lessons, listened and acted on my concerns, and most of all they love dogs and want the best for them and their owners. Cant ask for better! All my neighbors are jealous about how well trained my dog is compared to theirs (big and small).

Normally, I dont write reviews, good or bad. But had to do this one. We have a 250+lb Bull Mastiff that is a sweet boy, but we had one incident while walking thru our subdivision. I was walking the mastiff and my husband was walking our great dane. A jogger came by and the mastiff decided he wanted to go see her. I was yanked about 6 feet from the sidewalk into the street. I sustained a cracked rib and minor bruising. It could have been much worse. Naturally, I became very leary of walking him, so we did not take him out after that. We finally decided that we needed help with him, because he needs to be able to go out on walks. I searched for training, and yes he did go thru a pet store training when he was younger. I found OTCK9. What a difference they have made in us and Otis! We opted for the private lessons just because of his size. We were very impressed that they dont just train and release! They go with you to parks, and businesses that allow dogs and teach you how to handle situations that arise. OTCK9 has given us the tools to feel confident when taking Otis into public places. We thank you and look forward to CGC!
