The majority of the poor reviews of this office address the ridiculous wait time. Believe me, they are all very true. All I can suggest is...if your situation does not absolutely need to be treated by Dr. Avila, visit Bisbeth Sierra. She is definitely the next best thing. I accompanied my aunt to the office. After waiting three hours for Dr. Avila, they finally brought us in to meet with Ms. Sierra, ARNP. She is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and patient. She ordered precise and accurate tests for my aunt. We returned a month later for the follow-up to review the results. (The waiting room was far less crowded and we were seen within the hour the second time.) Once again, she very professionally reviewed the tests and advised accordingly. Her explanations were clear and easy to understand. She was very transparent, open and warm.

Consistent theme....the nurses and doctors are great, but has to be the worst customer service group Ive ever dealt with. Its a regular occurrence to sit on hold at least 25 minutes...unreal! Assistance is just a moment away, right...

Had an appt. No parking at the location. Office overcrowded. After waiting I was told the doctor was running late and he could not see me. A waste of time. Too bad I cant give them no stars

The front end staff was nice, but the lack of professionalism from the nurse Jessie C. Matus is understated. I attended this place originally for Dr. Pina and he was great, but his nurse is going to end up driving all his patients away with her lack of ethic. Her performance would honestly be enough to warrant 0 stars. Will not be returning and do not recommend.

Took my sister at 9:00 am for an 9:45 am procedure. She waited for more than 2 hours in a waiting room full of patients. Of course her blood pressure went up for being stressed. All she could get from the front desk was you will be called shortly. Restroom is a mess. Dirty and no paper whatsoever. There are other GI centers that treat patients with decency. They respect their schedule. CDM is like a slaughter house. Seriously, fix your problems.

Extremely RUDE costumer service! The girls answering phone calls dont even identify themselves and their how can i help you sounds more like: I hate my job, why are you calling? I had to call to help my mother figure out something about her prescription (which they had sent wrong to the pharmacy) I work in the health-care field so i know how MD offices work, and Liz, the girl who answered my call was so miserable talking to me that she didnt even askemy if I had any other questions and simply hung up on me. I had to call back and ask for her name to follow-up later today. Honestly, my mother is NOT coming back here! We are the patients, we are the ones paying, and we get treated like garbage? No thanks, there are 100s of GI clinics in Miami where we can go to next time!

Awful place. Had an appointment for in law at 10am, at 12pm with papers already filled in he still hasnt been attended. Its about to be 4pm and Im still here waiting, outside, no AC. Fix your scheduling. Whats the point of having an appointment if you have to be bere tbe entire day? It closes at 5, been here since 10am and still havent left.

I dont understand all the positive reviews this place might have. I guarantee that any real patients would experience the same issues I did:First, they never pickup the phone. I have to choose the options for doctors in order to get someone on the line. Even then, they usually take a message and dont call you back.Second, they have very little concern for the patients. To get a proper diagnosis we had to go to our Primary doctor, because they could not figure out the issue.Third, they requested tests to be done that require a referral, but the place they refered us to did not perform that test.Forth, we scheduled the test to be done at Baptist, but when Baptist called the office to request the referral, they told Baptist to cancel the appointment, on the day of the appointment, because they wanted us to do the test at the place they refered us to, that doesnt do the test.Fifth, We tried to call them to get the referral for Baptist, they would not answer the phone, but after the doctor line finally got me through, they said the test does not require a referral and they refused to give one. We had to go to the primary doctor to get the referral, in order to save the appointment with Baptist.Sixth, We are trying to setup an appointment to get the results back, but they dont answer the phone.

I had a procedure with sedation two days ago, By Dr Avila. All I can say is, what a professional and courteous team he has. I waited very little in the lobby before I was called in to change. Dr Avila saw me in preop and assured me all would be fine and before you know it I was waking up in recovery getting ready to leave. . I would definitely recommend him to any of my family and friends.

Thorough, caring and professional staff. They screened my blood sugar level prior to outpatient surgery then referred me to the hospital. The staff actually saved my life! I am very thankful!

This place is horrible, it is currently 12:10pm my appointment is for 9:45am. They have me sitting in this room very close to other people. They should have spread out their appointments so they can see their patients on time. AND it’s hot in there. Don’t go to this place it sucks and you’ll will receive the treatment you need 3 hours later your appointment.

This was the best team of medical staff I have been around in a long time. I would love to have them around if I ever get sick again. The Doctor had been busy but still took the time to make me feel like I was the only patient there. The gentleman that took my initial information was terrific, he too made me feel like I was the first patient of the day. I loved visiting and if I need their service again I know I will be welcomed.

Do not use this place. The doctors are good professionals but the registration process, COVID-19 protocols and appointment times are disastrous. Last week we were there for husband appt for colonoscopy. Front desk staff very rude when we asked about time frame of calling patients since I explained husband is diabetic and last meal was over 18 hrs. We were asked to wait outside. He waited for 2 hrs and 50 min to be called to reception area and when asked again she said “ sir, everyone here is diabetic”. Huh? We left and rescheduled. Today, we arrived at 6:55 am walked in at 7:02 am, registered again and was asked to wait outside and told appointments are called on schedule. His appointment was for 7:30 am and it was 7:39 and he had not been called. Walking back in reception he was told they called his name. He expressed he was told to wait outside but no one called his name outside or called his cell. We were parked right in front of door! The gentleman in front of him was told the wait was 2 hours! There is nothing wrong in waiting 15-30 min or even more if patients are explained the calling process or delays, but this place is a money mill house. Patients are called HOURS after arriving. Procedures are done quickly. Safety protocols are not adhered to. Front staff are very rude in answering simple questions.Go to a place that is professional and provides great patient care.

The physicians(particularly Dr Avila), nurse practitioners, nurses, techs and office staff staff go above and beyond for the patients. They exceed expectations, are patient, informative and put the patients at ease. This office with clinic and endoscopy center for procedures is clean & modern. With no hesitation, I highly recommend these healthcare providers and staff. You’re in good hands and you won’t regret it.

I had a a great experience at the offices of Center for Digestive Medicine. The staff is very accommodating, thorough and very nice to work with. Dr. Mark Avila provided me with excellent care from beginning to end. I started to see him when I began experiencing mild issues with my gallbladder. I was afraid of unnecessary surgery and we went through all the testing necessary since my symptoms were asymptomatic. In the end, he empowered me with the knowledge to to make the best decision for myself and when it was becoming more obvious that my gallbladder was the issue, he helped me expedite the already scheduled removal of my gallbladder so that I could have relief weeks sooner. Dr. Avila always takes the time to explain everything to you so you feel comfortable and has a great deal of empathy for his patients. You always feel like youre not only in very capable but caring hands between himself and his team.

If you come in with one ulcer you will probably leave with five after the stress of being here for hours!!!! You will wait two, three, FOUR hours and nobody will so much as apologize or give you an explanation. Why even schedule an appointment?! I have never seen such lack of professionalism. Spare yourself the headache and find another group of GIs. Your intestines will thank you.

This place has absolutely no respect for other peoples time. They have no idea what an appointment is. Had a 9am appointment, arrived at 8:45 it is 10:45 and still waiting.

Thank you Dr. Avila for your patience and understanding. I didnt want to go through sedation and Dr. Avila pleased me by doing the Colonscopy without anesthesia. It was difficult but nevertheless he pleased my wishes. Highly recommendable. Excellent Physician. Very happy :)

Worse billing service.They charged me 2,500.00$ Cash for a colonoscopiaThe lab sent me a bill. I called this center They answer that everything was paid in full that They will pay the bill to the lab.They never paid. After almost a year I received a bill from Collection Center.

I’ve suffered from stomach issues pretty much all my life so I’ve definitely had my share of seeing Gastroentérologist! I was told about Dr Avila and his team at CDM and boy am I glad I went!From checking in to checking out the staff was amazing and very helpful!!! Totally recommend this place!!! Waited for 3 hours after my appointment time, they do not care how long you have to wait. The girls who answer the phone are ridiculously rude, talks in a manner that makes you feel extremely uncomfortable, horrible service. Never coming back to this place again. I was extremely disappointed to this place how they manage patient. We are waiting for almost 2 hours and not just us but some other patients too. They should have a plan B everytime they encounter some complication on other patients, they should know better. Now i know why this place is only have 3 star. This place should not accept so many patients if they cant handle it and treat them right. This kind of clinic doing such a specialty or procedure know better because people are starving to death just to wait and done with the procedure. Not humane.

This office charged me $155 for a 10 second conversation with the nurse practitioner telling me the labs were not complete (I gave the lab the printout that came from this office), wasting my personal work hours. I called to talk about this, but after 2 days calling morning and afternoon no one picks up when choosing the billing questions option.

One star is too much for this office who neither cares about follow through or for you as a patient. The girls in the front office are a joke- insensitive, stuck up, clueless and are flat out rude. They do not return phone calls as promised, are nasty when speaking to them on the phone and could care less about helping you. I had to deal with a girl by the name of Pouchy and what a nasty human being she is, getting into fights with techs at another location on the phone, screaming on the phone and being proud that she has an attitude. The lack of customer service or patient care is unbelievable. I waited over a month for test results that were in the week following my exam. I called 4 times to get my results and they continually said they would call back and never did. I finally called again and spoke with a girl by the name of Liz (another real gem). She never made any apology for the office not following thru, in fact acted like I was wasting her time. After trying to make an apt again, it appears I will now have to wait another 2 weeks for my results since they apparently could not make any earlier accomodation even after taking so long. This will definitely be my last visit to this place and I will be filing a formal complaint for the lack of patient care. Sad, this office needs to clean house and start over with the staff, beginning with the stars Pouchy and Liz.

Why would anybody come to such a disorganized office to have a procedure. I asked the lady at the front desk after being given a form to sign. The form letting you know that a CRNA would be doing the anestesia. So I went up and asked if it would be a Dr. or a CRNA she said there one in the same. I told her that no one was a nurse and the other one is a Dr. she shrugged me off. I left it at that, waiting for my wife for two hours and finally asked they said she would be out when they were done with her. Plz do yourself a favor and go to Baptist or University of Miami they have a screen advising you of your family members stage in the procedure.GO TO BAPTIST....

Awful experience. You will wait AT LEAST an hour and a half past your appointment time to be seen. The reception staff are plain rude, if you dare to ask when can you expect to be seen. You hear salsa music at 8:30am in the waiting room. Terrible.

Worst place ever. Brought my mom here with an appointment and they call her in “FOUR HOURS LATER “. No kidding, and after, it was another two hours on a procedure that shouldn’t have taken more than an hour an half from beginning to end.I have come with family members to different locations throughout the years and no other place has taken this long.It is “ABUSIVE” to have elder people wait so long past their appointment. This place is terrible from the first time I called to change an appointment they treated me badly but my husband insisted on going ... he went on Friday to have an endoscopy and had to wait 3 hours, from 11:00 am to 2:00 : 00 pm. Today was the colonoscopy and he was weak because yesterday he had vomited a lot and has a pre-diabetes and spoke several times and only had to wait for 4 patients who were in front. His appointment was for 9:00 am and at 11:00 they gave me this answer ... conclusion he left because he could not hold out any longer and lost all preparation ... he does not return to this place ... they only deceive you with q they take your vital signs and q keep waiting 2 or 3 hours after your appointment.

I want to highlight the excellent care from Dr. Kristen Nieves and the way she listens to her patients and advises for a long time that she did not see me with someone like that is to recommend her excellent Thank you doctor. I also want to congratulate Dr. Mark S Avila for the study he did, he found the problem and solved it thanks! And very good nurses and a lot of patience. Excellent place. To go without thinking. The lady who attends the front does not treat patients well. In front of me is a dissatisfied patient because she called him a liar because of an appointment he received over the phone. I have been here other times with my uncle and she does not treat anything well. My uncle signed up 1 hour ago and she has called people who have come after him. When he went to ask, he answered in an unkind way that he felt that she was not being guided by the list. I wonder where she looks to call. The cozy place and my uncle happy with his various treatments that he has done here and I always bring him. But the lady is not kind. Always bad character
