I apologize that this is lengthy, but this is something I never do, and I was very off put by my experience here.Ive recently moved to Kansas City and was needing an eye exam to order more contacts. This was the closest place near by so I thought I would try them out. This was unfortunately one of the worst customer service experiences Ive ever had. When I called to confirm my appointment, I made it clear that I was not the policy holder on my insurance, I verified my birthday/social, and was told I was good to come in.I arrived for my appointment and was greeted by man frantically shuffling through papers on the receptionist desk. He asked me to wait a moment; after about 5 minutes I got asked for a name and checked in. I filled out very brief paperwork and sat it on the counter. About 5 minutes later I was asked to fill out the same paperwork, then the man that was originally at the counter came back up and started cussing again about some paperwork that shouldve been up here. I was asked who my insurance was through, they then said they didnt recognize my provider so I gave them the card. Kept acting like I didnt know what I was doing even though I had verified insurance on the phone already.I was walked back to a screening room where I was greeted by a tech but she immediately left without saying anything. I sat there for about 5 minutes before someone else came by and again said they needed to verify insurance and took my card. She was very rude and told me that I needed to be more prepared, and shouldve had my policy holders info already since we told you to do so over the phone. I was never asked to do this. I understand why they would need it, but I dont understand why someone should come at me like that about it instead of just asking nicely. I then waited for 45 minutes in this little room, I got two updates this entire time saying it should be about 5 minutes, and the other was her telling me that we probably dont accept it and that was all. I took my lunch break for this and asked my boss to even extend for an extra half hour to make sure I could get through the appointment; and instead waited for almost an hour to get information verified that I though was already taken care of.I really needed this appointment as Im on my last pair of contacts, but theres no reason that I shouldve had to wait almost an hour to even START my appointment after it was scheduled and confirmed days in advance. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a new eye doctor in the area. And will be driving out of my way somewhere else to avoid this experience again.

I recently had to purchase new frames and lenses. Apparently, my insurance is a pain of sorts to work with, but Kevin was able to successfully navigate through all the necessary red tape without issue. I appreciate his competence and humor. Surprisingly, my glasses were ready in under a week!Thanks to all who made it happen.Update: 2 weeks later. I did decide to get different frames and Kevin and Dwight were very gracious and helpful in making that happen. I appreciate the extra effort put forth on my behalf. Thanks again!

Every time I try to call to get my contacts ordered, I get Kevin telling me to call him later. I can call at lunch or later in the day, I get the same answer, when he finally asked me if he could place me on hold, he had me waiting for over 30 mins. Not once did he check back in that time. I would recommend finding another location.

I have been going here for years for eye exams but I can honestly say after my last visit, I will be going somewhere else. The doctor I had my exam with was pushy. They for some reason couldnt pull up my correct vision insurance. I corrected them multiple times on something they said that I found offensive yet continued to say it. They no longer have same day service. Overall, this place has went from a 5 star to a 1 star.. if that.

Terrible, went in 5 minutes early filled the stuff out online and the front desk said thats not the right insurance. I called my mom she called back 7 minutes late and they kicked me out and said yo reschedule. Worst customer service ever. The lady was pretty rude. Only to find out the eye insurance is connected through my health and she could have just looked it up. Glad I drove over an hour for them to kick me out.

I had an eye exam appointment today and it went great!Julia at the front was very helpful in showing what forms and information to fill out and the initial eye imaging.Dr. Cathy Edwards was very nice and friendly during the eye exam and informing me on proper contacts care and finding the best contacts for my needs.York was great as well, handling the payment/insurance stuff and passing along rebate information and a coupon for 60% off a pair of glasses should I decide I want those.Overall great experience and look forward to future exams/visits.

The actual appointment was great —- the staff and doctor were great. However, I went for a contacts exam (drove over 2 hours for my appointment). After my exam, the doctor told me I had to wait two weeks for my trial pair to come in. I was upset at first because I’ve never had to wait that long for a TRIAL pair at ANY Visionworks I’ve been too. Other offices I’ve been too always had my prescription. I was upset but despite being mad at the employees, I said I’d wait.I called two weeks later to see if it came in and it wasn’t. The holidays are over and there is no more weather delays. My trial pair order should have been shipped and on its way. I thought maybe they are a few days behind. So I waited an additional two weeks for my TRIAL pair and was told it still hasn’t arrived.I understand my prescription is high and it may take a bit longer for processing but I’ve never had to wait a MONTH for a TRIAL pair of contacts. It is leading me to believe no one ordered them in the first place.Their policy says the doctor can’t release your contacts prescription until you’ve tried the trial pair with the doctor. Then doctor has to okay it. Since I haven’t received my tried pair (mind you, it’s been a MONTH) I’m without my contacts prescription.I have been going to Visionworks for YEARS and this was my first time going in another state without my parents. I’ve never been to a Visionworks that has dragged their feet so much for a TRIAL pair of contacts. I will not be ordering my glasses with them, because who knows who long that will take?I had more than enough money to pay for express shipping or extra services but no one offered me that option.I didn’t not enjoy my first experience at this Visionworks. Won’t be back. However, thank you all for you time.

York is always a tremendous help when I’m shopping for glasses, whether it be prescription or sunglasses. So much, that I refer to going to Visionworks as “going to see York”. Thanks for the help picking out pairs that fit my face shape, style, and budget. Will be coming back!

Tried several times over the last couple of weeks to contact ANYONE at the Ward Parkway Visionworks to confirm an appointment and no one answers their phones. My family has been pts of this Visionworks for a few years now and because they dont answer the phone we have taken our business elsewhere.

Ive been trying to get information about my glasses. Was told someone would contact me an no one has. I explained when I order my glasses I needed them asap an promised I would have them within a week Well the store is temp closed. Now no can locate my glasses. I paid cash for my glasses almost a thousand dollars and they didnt have enough respect to return my call or anything. This is so unprofessional. Never again.

Eddie is awesome, great sense of humor that really makes the experience fun.I purchased a pair of glasses at this location and I really wasnt happy with them, I decided to return them and the process was very quick and easy. I would definitely recommend Visionworks.Edit: I went in today to get my glasses fixed (I took a screw out and I couldnt get it back in). Steve and York were super helpful and very nice. They got my glasses fixed and helped them fit better than they did before. Didnt take very long at at either.

Ordered two pairs of glasses (buy one get the second half off). One pair was for reading and the other progressive lenses. Neither pair was right when first picked up. They had completely messed up the prescription on the reading glasses. With the progressives, I told them I could neither read text on the TV nor see mid-range for my computer work. The staff did a few measurements and I left both glasses at the store for rework. When I returned to pick up the glasses two weeks later, the reading glasses were fine, but the progressives were still wrong. They took a few more measurements (but didnt recheck my eyes) and kept the glasses for fixing. Then COVID-19 hit and the stores closed. They mailed the progressives to me, but I dont think they had done anything to them - they were still the same and I couldnt see. Finally after the stores reopened , I got back in and saw the optometrist. That experience however made me decide to ask for a refund. The problem was Dr. Edwards who just kept insisting the prescription was perfect, and that it was me who that was at fault (I didnt know how to use them correctly?!?). She also blamed my prior mono-vision surgery, but she was the one who recommended getting this specific pair of (expensive) glasses. She had done the same blaming thing with the reading glasses, until she realized that they were not to the prescription. It just wasnt worth trying to deal with her and the whole experience was awful. Im out a bunch of money since they counted the progressives as the get one at half price pair, plus they pocketed the insurance company payment for those glasses. Ill go somewhere else to have these glasses remade with a lesson learned. If you want the glasses to be right, avoid Visionworks at Ward Parkway!

I had the BEST experience at this location thanks to York. He is extremely knowledgeable and friendly! He made sure I found the perfect frames and that I was happy with my decision. York answered all of my questions, and explained all of the lens options with me. He made relevant recommendations for which lenses I should get based on my vision problems while driving at night. Also, the eye doctor and front office staff were amazing. I will definitely be a returning customer. Thank you, York for making my experience so great!!

I bought my glasses here and loved my experience so much that I booked an appointment for my boyfriend as well. We were assisted by York and he was wonderful.He was very friendly, polite, informative, and always greeted us with a smile. Sometimes you wonder if the repetitive day to day life in retail influences some of the personalities you meet, but if it did with York he never allowed it to hinder his customer service. We would definitely return and recommend!

I’ve been coming to this store for awhile, my husband needs to go to a specialist for his eyes he still gets his glasses here and he has been going to this location for awhile and last time he came in and bought glasses he got them for Dwight and Eddie who were both great and then we were excited to see that they hired some new employees and Janelle helped us and helped me to get my first pair of progressives and helped to adjust them and she was fantastic and we have even come in to get them done again a few times and I always skip the store when I see the large short guy who is very rude and not very helpful but I thought that when they hired new associates he would begone but my best advice is stay clear when he is in other wise everyone else is great would have done 5 stars but I can’t get over the Caucasian man who really talks down on not only other employees but also the customers

This Visionworks location has had difficulty finding my correct insurance information each time I have been there. Today, I was told my insurance is inactive (they are looking at my old information as my company switched providers). I was told I needed to call my provider. I did, they confirmed my coverage is active and advised I give Visionworks my Member ID again. When I called Visionworks I was cold transferred between 3 different people. The girl I spoke with proceeded to be of no help and instead of offering solutions to assist me, she argued and said shed done everything possible to find the right info for me. I offered to give her my Member ID and she did not even want it. The store itself was dingy and unwelcoming and I did not enjoy my first experience there anyway. I will not be returning and I do not recommend unless you want something that feels cheap and unprofessional.

Been going to this location since they were drake optometrist so 20 years. In Feb this year a day before my appointment I got a call from Visionworks saying office will be closing due to the rona (I understand that). I asked if I could purchase contacts to hold me over until reopening. No was the reply due to prescription being expired but we will give you trials.Fast forward to June 15ish and get an email saying I can schedule an appointment which I do for 6-22-20 even got a confirmation email day before appointment. On 22nd went to store and they were closed due to unknown reason they were open but had to close again. Asked customer service for trial contacts since I had only 6 weeks of contacts and its been 16 weeks. Customer service said area supervisor would call me. Its the 5th of July and still not heard anything. Tried calling store but it goes to voice-mail.Thanks for following through Vision Works

I have been wearing glasses all my life and have been to many optical stores. However, this establishment here has been my favorite of all time. The inventory is great and the office is very clean. The one BIG distinguishing factor that sets them apart from other stores is the staff. Especially my man York. York is an employee of Visionworks who I can honestly call a friend. After just 3 short visits I almost know his whole life story and as a benefit have received multiple great recommendations for food and drink locations in the KC area. The man is a legend, hands down. I love coming into the store because we always have a great conversation and he is very knowledgeable on the products. I picked out a sweet pair of glasses that I cannot wait to wear and I wouldnt have got them if it werent for York.

The optometrist office worked me in for an appointment, and the front sales staff were great! They were helpful and friendly. Janelle helped me pick out 2 perfect pair of glasses, and I found an awesome pair of Rayban sunglasses. I saved almost 50% off my purchase! It was really busy in the store but the GM & Associates were attentive and keeping things moving, making sure everyone was being helped and not waiting.

The front staff is GREAT! They make you feel very welcome at the office. That being said, Dr. Rice is not friendly at all, I get the impression that she is trying to get me in and out of her office as quick as possible, almost as if she has something better she could be doing. No smiles, didnt seem good-natured, she just made me feel uncomfortable.The appointment was very easy to set up, did it online, the appointment itself did not take up a lot of my time, the prices are the cheapest around without insurance.Overall my visit was just okay, a good place to go if you are looking for a cheap place to get in and out quick, didnt seem like they were trying to establish me as a long term patient.

My experience at visionworks could have been a 5 star had it not been for one associate who lacks customer service skills.At first, the associates we talked to were very kind and patient during my visit, as I had a lot of questions and I needed to have some clarification a few times. My mom and I were assigned to work with a man named York, and we immediately felt the tension the moment he greeted us even when he was trying to go by the script. Poor eye contact and a condescending approach, he clearly didnt want to work with us but maybe he needs a commission or something. During our visit, my mom and I were approached by other associates who were so much more positive and nice, too bad they were not assigned to assist us. York also demonstrated unprofessional behavior towards one of his coworkers who was trying to be helpful, as evidenced by York telling the associate to remove himself, and then proceeded to ugh, shook his head and rolled his eyes when the other helpful associate walked away. I was very uncomfortable by this point I just wanted to get it over with. My mom was told earlier in our visit she didnt have to pay for her basic eye exam, and York seemed frustrated explaining to my mom otherwise, as evidenced by the tense shift in his tone of voice and frown. Not our fault if we were misinformed, just be patient! Working with him was a negative and incredibly uncomfortable experience from start to finish. I will not be coming to this establishment again.

I came in the store today during my lunch time and talked to a young lady who worked there, she was very prompt to help me pick out frames and I was super happy with my service, I got ready to buy my glasses and realized that I didn’t have my script and I called my doctor to have them email it to them but the young lady notified me that they didn’t do it email and it needed to be faxed and since my dr couldn’t fax scripts until after they were back from their lunch break I figured I had enough time to go home and come back later, the girl stated that she would be working until close and it wouldn’t be a problem to come back, BUT when I came back she no longer was working in the front and she was very nice and notified me that “one of the gentlemen in front could check me out” but when I went up to the front one man was just walking around looking at the men’s glasses that worked there and the other one was doing some sort of paper work and neither said any thing to me so I went back to the back and the girl apologized and she said she would go make sure that they knew I was ready but I figured that I will just wait until she works next on the weekend since she was so good and attentive and appeared that she was truly there for the customers to feel welcome, I just wish that she would have stayed up front like she originally told me she would be doing. Overall a great place and I hope that it continues to be a good experience! I can’t wait to go get to order my glasses with her this weekend

We only came here for a quick and easy prescription, but Ed (or Eddie as he sometimes goes by) is amazing all on his own! My mom hadnt had an up to date prescription done in years and he competently broke the ice and eased her nerves. We did not purchase frames from here, but they were very understanding and personable. We will be going back if just for prescription check ups.

I came in after my measurements were done at the wrong spot more then once of remakes and this time the general manager, Dwight, was outstanding and I was thinking that since I don’t need new glasses right at this exact moment and he helped me pick out these glasses (which I have gotten more compliments on these glasses then I have ever gotten on a pair) he looked at the history and went ahead and personally took the time out and measured them himself and got them ordered and personally called me the second the new lenses came in... they were I. The process of moving and getting rid of the lab but he assured me that he would personally drive them to one of the stores with a lab and get them put in and sure enough he followed through and had theM ready very quickly later that day after personally driving to get the lenses done and having them ready, he is an outstanding asset to the store and company!Even though I just recently purchased new glasses and sunglasses, this summer when my son and daughter in law were in town I went ahead and made sure I waited for him specifically and ordered them 2 pairs each from visionworks and made sure to have him be the one who helped us/them since my son has one bad eye and I don’t want him to have The lenses so far off in thickness and I want him to have the best glasses and so I sat down with Dwight and my son and daughter in law and made sure that they both got 2 pairs since they do bogo and my son got ray-Bans in both but one pair was polarized with a mirror thanks to his recommendations and he absolutely loves the look and feel of them and the other pair he got also was a pair Dwight helped himPick out and pick out the lenses so that they would be light weight and the best of material for what he needed and I felt that out of all the optical places I have been to in Kansas City over the years, Dwight specifically made sure that me and my family all had the best quality eye wear and made sure that it fit all our wants and needs and then he gave us the best suggestions based on what would be best for each of us individually and never tried to upsell or made us feel obligated to but something Suggestions based on things we were not going to need but at the same time without insurance he was clear how much everything would cost and gave us all the options, listened to us and got us in and out quickly and efficiently. As long as he works at visionworks, he will have me bringing all of my family there for optical needs as far as purchasing glasses! He is a rare find as a general manager that always goes above and beyond making patients needs come first and he is always so respectful of everyone who comes in the store whether they have been there and are just picking up, just looking, or they are getting ready to buy and he is so fast with putting in an order and making sure that from what I saw he treats the staff very respectfully and he always is helping everyone in the store which is something that I believe is keeping both employees and customers all happy! Thank you Dwight for your help and personal help you have given to me and each one of my family members and their individual wants and needs! Very rare to find at a chain and especially to see a gm working so hard and going above and beyond!

My dad has come her a few times and his English isn’t so great so I come with him but there was a a very young girl working with the doctor that treated my dad like he wasn’t there and then she sat behind the desk watching something on her phone and was rude for us interrupting, he was going to get glasses but she was so rude that we decided to go elsewhere, the girl that checked us out was more professional but not giving business to a place with young rude staff that don’t want to do their jobs and act like he is retarded and not there. I would worry about hoed hed be treated if I didn’t come.

I have been coming to this store for years, even though I need to go to a specialist and I don’t wear glasses, I have brought my husband and kids In for the past few years and always take time to bring my mother into this store as it is so close to her house. I came in awhile ago and there was a man who has been working there for a couple years name yourk and we try to make sure that he is not in the store when we go but a few weeks ago he was there and luckily they have a newer associate that was so patient and helpful with me and my mom. Her name is Janelle and she was very prompt and able to help and even spent the time deep cleaning my moms glasses, adjusting them and then not only did she do a great job on describing all the options available for the lenses and spent the time figuring out whether it was cheaper to get the same product exactly with the store discount over my moms insurance plan that covered very little, She was very patient as my mom continued to ask questions that were repetitive and she gave us the best service we received in a long time, if the store would just retire the man Yourk from the store the moral would go up considerably but other then him being rude year after year we have been lucky enough to always find another associate even if it means we have to come in other days, this store is very helpful and we were overly happy with the service we got at this location (and my moms glasses were done very quickly).

Clearly I caught these guys on a bad day. I was told to show up 15 mins before my scheduled appointment, so I did, and I sat there for 15 minutes without ever seeing a single person. Another customer came in and walked through and told them I was there, and still no one showed enough courtesy to just come back and say they’d be right with me. When I finally found someone, I was told the next appointment was at 4:00 and everyone was on lunch. So put up a sign! My LINE when someone else is running behind is, “No problem! I’m not in a hurry.” I am very understanding about communication or scheduling errors, especially at such a busy time of the year. What I have no tolerance for, however, is excuses. I left. After reading such great reviews, I am so disappointed to have not been able to experience what is supposed to be a pretty terrific staff.

I went in Visionworks on Saturday with a broken pair of glasses. I worked with Eddie who was incredible. He fixed the broken thread on my semi rimless glasses on the spot and straightened the frame back out. He did a great job and thats why we keep going back.

I was just in the store after being a patient numerous times, I can name the majority of the associates that have helped me and today there was a younger girl Janelle who seemed very knowledgeable about the products and she was very prompt to get my frames back to a gentleman in the lab named mark who kept the pace going very quick to put my new lenses In my glasses, I was happy to see that the man who had only helped me once was either busy or ignoring me (York) and my wife was able to get her glasses adjusted while mine were being made and when done the gym went out of his way to adjust my glasses for me, as far as cutomer service goes, Janelle,Dwight, Amy and Eddie and great and they always are very pleasant to work with. Will be coming back as long as they keep the same staff! Thanks again visionworks for truly helping us out!

Janelle was very helpful in getting our glasses ordered for our family, but York and Stephen (I believe that was his name?) were very abrupt and wouldnt help her get our orders rang up to make things processed more quickly. Today when we went to pick up two pairs of glasses and ordered 6 more under the promotion, York snatched the equipment off the table which resulted in my daughters cell phone being knocked to the floor. He was also slamming cabinets, which was pretty unnecessary. Honestly, I have had issues with York last year and have no clue why he is still employed, when his customer service skills are lacking. The three was only due to my daughters cell phone being damaged today and the rudeness from York and Stephen. I dont think we will be returning after this experience, but I do have to admit that Eddie has always been the best, but I guess he was out on vacation.

When I arrived, the doctor was still with the patient before me and the patient after me hadn’t arrived yet, but I had to have my appointment rescheduled because the doctor doesn’t like to get too far behind. If I had shown up a few minutes earlier, I still would have had to wait until the doctor was done with the previous patient! (Unless the doctor can see two patients at once). They offered some non-specific compensation on frames if I rescheduled but who’s the say my next appointment will be honored? Really frustrating.

You call and try to talk to someone no one answers or your placed on hold for 15 min with no response. Some of the people or nice but the wait time in the store is long. Customer Service means a lot, they lack in a few areas.

Eddie was very helpful assisting with my eye exam and the process of ordering contacts. He was very professional and courteous. Ive been a customer for years....since they were known as Eye Masters, in fact. Customer service has always been a priority for this company but the service I received from York Morian on 8/19/18 was arguably the best eyeglass related (this doesnt include monocle related experience, FWIW) service experience Ive had in 30 Years!!!!A true professional and a definite asset to this organization. REWARD THIS MAN!

From my appointment with Dr. LaFerla to my selection of frames with help from Sales Associate, York Morlan, my experience was professional and timely. Mr. Morlan explained the various lens options available and handled my insurance to my complete satisfaction. I look forward to picking up lenses next week. I recommend this to anyone who wants to be treated as a patient and not just a retail customer!

My son went in with his dad, Jennell helped them and was so patient even when another coworker huffed around the store trying to show domination, maybe he is the owner or manager but I had to leave quick since he disrespected her infront of my son and infront of other patients and she remained professional and worked hard to get everyone in and out and happy! Great experience, my son came back in once the man left and was able to purchase glasses happily, under staffed but jennell kept smiling and working hard to make sure she got people what they wanted!

Each day I get a text about my upcoming appointment a d none of the text said to be in 15 min early. So I get here at my schedule time 10:30 am and Julia says that I should have been here 15 mins and my spot has been given away. Each text I got for the last week said to be here at 10:30 am which I was and now Im being told if the 11am appointment comes in I have to wait and get pushed back more. I have been coming here for 5 years for every family member but this will be the LAST time!!!!
