I just had extensions put in my hair and Nicole did a great job. She was professional and really listened to what I was wanting to accomplish. I received a haircut twice from Katie (Oct. 2020 and Apr. 2021). The first time, I was the first time slot of the day and when I arrived, she was talking with another stylist and only set up her station once I was there. I received an OK haircut, not exactly what I wanted but just thought I didn’t communicate well enough. Neither of these were deal breakers for me, so I went back for another cut and made sure to specify exactly what I wanted (long layers and face framing). I got a straight across cut with minimal styling, so now it confirmed that she just doesn’t know how to do layers, I guess. I was also the only customer in the salon wearing a mask (4 others at the time, I even have pictures bc I was so appalled). And when sitting in the chair, the mirrors are awkwardly high so you can’t really see what’s going on, so I didn’t even know I wasn’t getting layers (again) until the end. Overall, this is just not the place for me and will not be returning.

The Salon is a fantastic choice for a haircut in the Plaza area. Macy always takes great care of me!

The simple review; 5 stars and you should come here!The long story is I moved about 1 year ago and my hunt for a hair stylist started - I usually go light hair during summer and go dark during winter and regular hair trim. I also consider myself hair illiterate! and I need a professional who understand what I need from just describing it in lay language! Also, weighing in when what I describe doesnt make sense or try to figure what I want and make suggestions or recommendations ! So, I went to different places here and I was always disappointed before even leaving the salon ! Anyway, I googled more options because never to give up! Found the salon, checked their website, reviews here and there and it sounded promising. Called for a consult because I was tired of just going all in. Met Nicole and I explained to her past and how I want the future to look like! She told me 2 best options! Made my decision on one and came back the week after! Took us about 3.5 hours to get what we wanted and Im 100% satisfied. So, I finally can say that I have a hairstylist in Kansas City that I can go to to get my hair done!

Ive been to several different salons (KC North, Waldo, KC, Overland Park) and its hit or miss. There will be a couple great technicians, several that just okay, and sometimes really awful ones. Youll NEVER get that at The Salon. All of the owners and technicians are incredible! They have one rookie but youre notified in advance that shes an apprentice. So you never have to worry. Your hair will always look amazing when you leave their salon. Give them a chance...you wont regret it.

I had switched my hair color up to a pretty rose gold, on the ends of my hair. Jenny did such an awesome job! She made sure it was completely perfect, before I had left. I love the color and style, and will be going back in the near future!

I chose The Salon for hair and makeup on my December 2012 wedding day for myself and my bridal party and I couldnt have been happier. I also had them do my hair for my rehearsal dinner, which was gorgeous as well!Not only did everyone look BEAUTIFUL, we had such a wonderful experience. All of the Salon employees were very accommodating and wanted to make sure everyone was 100% happy with their hair and makeup. And we were!They allowed us to bring in food and drinks the morning of and even let us play whatever music we wanted making it a perfect place to start the day of my wedding. The plaza location is great too, parking in the back is handy as well.Gene the owner was especially accommodating and made us all feel at home in his Salon. Laura at the front desk, who coordinated the day for us, made sure all of the details of the day were planned ahead of time, so everything went very smoothly for myself and all of my bridesmaids and mothers of the bride and groom as well.I would highly recommend the Salon for your wedding day or any other special occasion. I also get my hair cut there regularly as well too. Shane, the other owner, is personal, professional and my hair looks great.

The Salon is a great place that magically got me in for a cut an hour after I had called. I had Jenny who did a great job, but she was a little rough with my hair. I was wincing throughout the wash and as she was brushing my hair, despite having a tough scalp and high pain tolerance. My head was being tugged along with with the brush, and I felt like I was going to get whiplash. Once again, I love my cut, it just was not a super pleasant experience.

Macy did an amazing job with my partial highlights however my cut felt rushed. In the end I didn’t think she had time to hear my concerns and wishes of wanting additional layering at the front. I appreciated her expertise and consultation but she didn’t seem happy if what I wanted deviated from her consultation.

Macy was wonderful. She helped me decide what to with my hair gave me great tips and told me to call if I had more questions!! Loved the atmosphere. I was lucky to just Google salons near me and I could walk there. Definately would go back!!

Right when I walked in the receptionist was friendly and attentive to get me coffee or water throughout my hair cut. The employees spoke well if their boss too which lets you know its under good management. All the hair stylists were very nice and the place was not too busy or loud. Ally cut my hair and she is so sweet and did a great job with my cut and color! I love it.

The girl who cut my hair did a horrible job..... She was suppose to put layers in and they were so un even and didnt blend. Its still not grown out to the way i wanted it.... The highlights were good but she def. Didnt know how to cut hair. Probably wouldnt go back there.....

I have been getting my hair cut by Ramon for the past few months, and he has always done a beautiful job. For New Years Eve, I wanted something a little more special since my husband and I were doing to the big 20s themed swing dancing party at Union Station. He did my hair and makeup, and I loved both. My hair looked totally retro but still contemporary and chic. It was absolutely amazing. And the same with the makeup - on theme and beautiful but not costumey at all. Ramon is VERY talented and creative, and is also super nice. Highly recommended!

I absolutely love the salon. I hate haircuts because of personal problems. The first time I went was in April and I had my hair done by Angelica who did a very excellent job. Now its November and I just got back from the place. Angelica isnt there anymore sadly, but I got my haircut by Meg who did an even better job than my first visit. He did ombre and a super cute long bob. This charming salon on Main Street is comfortable because it does not employ massive amounts of stylists, but rather has only six or seven stations. The small staff makes it easier for clients to become familiar with everyone, which ultimately fosters a comfortable and relaxing environment. All of the stylists are well-educated because they are encouraged to go to trade shows and continue their education in the evolving hair product/care market. Because of the businesss focus on education, I trust the stylists to use the best methods and products on my hair.In fact, I am so trusting in my stylist, Nicole, that I often just walk in and let her try whatever new method or product she has recently learned about on me. I trust her because she is passionate about what she does and realizes (where most stylists do not) that as her client I am an extension of her. Because getting my hair done requires time and money, I am so thankful that I have a friend with whom I enjoy spending the hour(s).Ultimately, the reason that The Salon has been a Country Club Plaza mainstay for over thirty years is that it is part of the Kansas City community. My first experience at The Salon was great! They have Meg on staff which is a huge bonus for them. Let me just say you will never need another colorist once you discover Meg! The front desk was able to get me in quickly and were extremely helpful when I was there; the owner took time to meet me which is unusual in my experience with most salons. Heres my tip: make an appointment with Meg and trust her to go with her judgement- you (and everyone who sees you!) will be impressed!

I called this salon to ask about pricing and was quoted a range of $120.00 to $150.00 for a color, cut, and full highlights. Happy with the pricing, I scheduled an appointment. When setting the appointment, I informed the gal that I needed to be done by 2pm. She set my appointment for 11:00am. I arrived on time for my appointment and after consulting with the beautician, we decided to color roots, full highlights, and put toner on my hair to get rid of redness. Approximately 1:45 pm, the beautician informs me that the scheduler did not schedule enough time and she had another appointment at 2:15. At 2:15, she left me sitting with foil on my hair to cut the other customers hair. By the time she started cutting my hair I had to stop her and leave. I had been there FOUR HOURS!!! I left with wet hair and only half a hair cut. At the register, I was told my charges were $232.00!!!!! Obviously, this is not what I was quoted. I refused to pay this outlandish price and ended up paying $170.00 despite the fact that I had a 25% off coupon as a new customer. This is my first review EVER and I am doing so to report they pulled a bait and switch, which is illegal! BEWARE

Id call these stylists the hair experts. They can match any color, work out color combos youd never have thought of and pair it with the perfect hair cut for your face and complexion. I went in here while roaming around KCMO on business. Thought I would get my hair done up since Id been travelling a lot. I had no idea what I wanted, I just wanted to feel pretty after a several long flights in a row. They worked their magic and I walked out of there feeling like a million bucks. Ive recommended this place to my best friend who now lives there and she loves it.

So... I left thinking I was happy- i thought maybe it just looks darker in the salon and if i go out into the sun itll look like what i envisioned- nope. I hate my hair right now. Im going to have to now go find another salon to fix it. Its hard to leave this review because I really liked the girl that worked on my hair, she was a sweetheart, and we hit it off really well. Ive been blonde most of my life, beachy blonde and when I went in I showed her a pic of my blonde tresses and how I wanted more of that. Really this is probably more my fault because she showed me swatches and we picked this color I guess- I thought itd be less red though, more sun kissed. I went in more blonde then what I left with. What I wanted was more blonde,what I left with was dark reddish what is this?... And to add insult to injury I even paid extra for the hair dye because she had to mix up extra two times!

Ferrara did my haircut and introduced me to devacurl. She was awesome, I highly recommend her as well as the salon in general. I have always had trouble finding someone I like to do my hair and I will definitely be going back to her and telling all my friends.

I wish i could give zero or negative rating. I bought a groupon of around $60 for a haircut n full color and my experience was horrific to say the least. My hair color did not turn out the way it was supposed to look. Not even close. The beautician did not care if i was happy with the treatment. The haircut i got was also very disappointing . Not definitely worth the price i payed. What was more shocking to me was thar my beautician was in a hurry to finish my appointment n move over to the next one. I asked her to blow dry my hair to curls which she never did and when asked she said she has other appointment n the client is already there! Which salon treats u like that? I would strongly recommend everyone against it. Pls find some good salon to spend your money on.

I work very close to The Salon and thought I would relax after a busy day at work with a massage + facial. My appointment was with Idida and it was amazing. It was my first facial ever and I will for sure try and make this a regular thing. Idida is very knowledgeable in skin care and taught me a lot about my skin. I cant wait until my next one! The Salon is great!I recently moved here from Cali and was looking for a place I could trust to get my hair done. I did a lot of research and Im glad I ended up at The Salon. I hope this helps anyone that is searching for their new hairdresser.I work with Nicole and she is amazing! She is super sweet, and makes the two hours in the chair go so fast with the most easy going conversation. My normal routine is color and cut. With Nicoles direction, we are working toward a more ashy blonde than golden using three different colors to give it demension. She goes for a more natural look which is great but I always like to say im a true blonde ;) For my last cut, went with a Kristen Cavallari look. She showed me this great technique for getting a wave tousled look while blow drying- it was pretty cool.Now for the products.... I love them! Not only do they smell amazing but she knows what to use/recommend on my hair for my trouble spots and to make my hair feel healthy. At my last appointment she used and then recommended the Morrocan Oil shampoo and conditioner. Ive been using it for about two months and Im really liking it. Its really moisturizing- sometimes a little too much, but it also smells amazing. She also used the Morrocan Oil smoothing cream because my hair is so dry and adds this amazing Kevin Murphy shimmer shine which makes my hair so soft. I LOVE the shimmer shine spray. When I put this stuff in my hair I cant stop touching it all day! At this last appointment she recommended kerawhip which is a deep conditioning treatment for my dry ends. Again, Ive been using it for 2 months and its the best conditioner Ive ever used. It smells amazing and is perfect for my fine hair. Doesnt over moisturize, but leaves it soft and smooth.Im going for a color and cut refresh next weekend. Im so looking forward to relaxing in Nicoles chair. Im so happy I found The Salon! Check it out. The staff is knowledgeable, personable and knows everything about hair. I hope you enjoy it as much as i do!
