I signed up for Club Metro at my roommates recommendation. It’s a great price and there’s plenty of equipment! It gets busy after work around 5 or 6pm, but for the most part I’ve never really waited for for a machine or bench. The gym is clean and the showers and sauna are nice touches!About a month after signing up, I decided to pair up with a personal trainer. I was matched with Rowel. I couldn’t be more pleased with our sessions! He’s a lot of fun to work with, but more than that, he’s a GREAT teacher! Thanks to him, I finally feel like I belong at the gym because now I know what I’m doing. And I’ve seen a lot of results. I’ve lost about 55lbs and gained a significant amount of muscle. I can’t thank him enough!

The gym is exactly what you expect from a place with low monthly fees. Gets the job done, staff is very patient and helpful and the other members are friendly. Highly recommended.

Ive been really happy with this gym over the past several years. Super friendly staff, and some of the members are actually friendly as well(which seems to be a rarity). Diverse membership. Good maintenance and good equipment, with a separate room for classes or individual stretching, etc. Pleasant and energetic atmosphere, not overly crowded and a great location across the street from the Newport PATH station. Very good value overall. Nice juice bar.

I enjoy going to Club Metro Jersey City. It has everything I look for in a gym. Especially the rules to users at this time of Covid-19 I see that they are met. Each user must sanitize whatever they are using before and after. Sanitizer bottles are provided for each user.The protein shakes bar is amazing! Very varied. So far, I have tried three delicious flavors.Im looking forward to classes like yoga and/or Zumba being activated because Im going to be the first enrolling on them.The communication system with users is good when there is a change on the regular opening/closing time due to any circumstance like snow.The atmosphere is calm, the staff excellent. Im grateful for the effort that Club Metro Jersey City staff does every day.Overall, everything is well maintained and clean.Something that I dont like so much is that the mirrors are half-body. The only thing I would change would be full-body mirrors. Perhaps its for safety I dont know.

Typical local gym tactics, impossible to cancel your membership. Forced to jump loops to finally get it cancelled. They enjoy stealing your money.Also have had multiple unpleasant experiences with the front desk employees from their OTHER facility in Rutherford.Keep in mind, this is during COVID where everyone has fallen under hard financial times. The gym tends to get crowded during the evenings but havent found myself waiting much for any equipments which is a great sign. There are about 2 of each for most machines and equipment. They are well maintained and have found the staff pretty responsive to feedback.I have found the basic membership as the most value for money. It includes access to all the weight training and cardio equipment, sauna and lockers. I felt like the add-ons are slightly expensive. They also have a protein shake counter but the prices are pretty high.Overall its a good gym in the area and you should definitely check it out if it meets your needs for training.

Canceling my membership and trying to get back money for months charged during the pandemic was a huge pain. Take your money elsewhere.RE: I was charged membership dues for 3/28/20 to 4/28/20, a period for which the gym was completely closed. Club Metro has done a great job of keeping the gym very clean during these times. Each member is required to walk around with a spray bottle of cleaner, and there are many paper towel dispensers. In addition to the cleaning procedures, Club Metro has a wide variety of cardio and strength machines, as well as free weights and racks. They also have a studio area open for member use with kickboxing bags and social distancing markers. Overall, I am very pleased with the gym.

The gym is doing a great job of cleanliness and order during this time. I have also started training with Rowel who is so professional and knowledgeable . I look forward to many more sessions with him to achieve my fitness goals.

Do no join this gym, canceling your membership in is horrible. I am on a month to month contract and I’m being asked to pay over $300 to cancel. Nobody is able to explain this number to me. Total rip off especially in the current times we’re in.

The team is great and respectful and has a great knowledge manager whose always ready to help. The place is clean and well organized which is important during these COVID times. They have a juice bar and nutritional snacks. They offer boot camps and 1 on 1 trainers, in addition to their nutritionist. Theres no real down side to the place other than it being far from where I live, but thats not their fault

My 7am Wednesday sessions with personal trainer Rowel Timbal has unexpectedly become the highlight of the last three months.In addition to proper form, posture, and a weight training program, Rowel taught me how to tailor my diet to maximize physical results. Extremely patient in answering roughly a thousand of my questions per session, Rowel instructs with clarity in explaining the benefit of each exercise in relation to others of greater complexity. Extremely professional, friendly, and engaging, he cares greatly in the interest of his clients, their progress and comfortability in the training.I highly recommend personal training with Rowel. As stated, it became the highlight of my week and especially important to me now during quarantine. Solid gym. I enjoy going here at night typically after 8pm. Its quite empty during this time; even more empty than going early in the morning. There is a nice shower and sauna area and the locker rooms are nice and of decent quality. The gym has everything you need and weights are organized in the right order which I always appreciate. I would recommend this gym to anyone in the area. The gym is in walking distance of my apartment and the price is reasonable so Im really happy with my membership here. No complaints so far.

The gym is at the heart of Newport and very cheap compared to other gyms in area. Its big and spacious and open 7 days a week. The timings are also very good as I go very late in the evening. You also have Sauna, Cycling and free exercise rooms. The staff is very helpful and polite. The equipments are new and are always clean. When I went to ask the lady a question regarding when this place is going to move to the new location, she replied Im eating, come after Im done.... 5 minutes later another man (white) approaches her and she chats him up for about 15 minutes bwhile eating.......Also, its 98°F today... Great gym with clean, new machines and lots to offer. Staff is really helpful, friendly, and professional. I love the perks and the guidelines they have in place for covid-19.Gym is large with an open floor area with free weights and machines, turf area with kettlebells and miscellaneous equipment for cross-training type workouts, as well as a studio for classes which you could use for yoga, stretching, rolling, etc when no classes are going on. There’s also tanning and a bike room, and not to mention physical therapy available.Locker rooms are spacious and have showers (for use after social distancing guidelines are ended) and are always clean.They have a perks/rewards program, smoothie bar, and drinks & snacks available for purchase.The location is great within the Newport plaza/mall right across from the path station.Overall, I think this is the best gym in the area for the price and it was a no brainer for me when I joined about 8 months ago now. Highly recommend.

This gym is conveniently located next to the Path station. It has all the needed equipment for a good workout. The staff are friendly and the workout areas are always clean and organized. My only complaint is that the locker room lacks ventilation and it often smells bad. Besides that, I would recommend this gym to anyone. Especially given its price. Its a great bang for your buck.

Ive been going to this gym for like 6 months. I think its one of the cleanest gyms I have been too. Weights are all back on the racks. But I wish people would take their weights off the bars specially if it a lot of weight. The bathrooms are clean but I wish they had paper towels for a spill of something. The sauna and showers are really nice. The trainers are also really good. They have something for everyone. For example if you want a female trainer I would suggest my trainer Norma. But overall better gym then I have seen.

Very spacious, lots of weightlifting equipment, a real deadlifting platform (not something you see often in big city gyms), and very clean. Would highly recommend.

First of all, the shakes are awesome and the staff is friendly! Secondly, it gets this rating for the price being decent. It can get quite crowded but if youre a cardio person there are plenty of machines for that. One call out is that there needs to be more plates, and they need to stop being ridiculously hard to put on the bar. Id also like to add that I actually liked the music on Saturdays/weekends (often metal); some review down there complained, but every other gym plays pop stuff all of the time, I actually decided to sign up because I liked the music which has now changed. I appreciate you taking reviews into consideration, but maybe that person can use headphones. I can link a few good ones if they need.I honestly wish I could star rate some of the patrons instead: I often see people leave their weights on bars or scattered around, sit on machines just checking their phones, or taking up one machine for an hour. As well, I dont know if its because Im female but some dudes will just walk up and take plates from my machine without even a glance at me to see if Ill need it. Sure, take one of my two 10lb plates, I dont mind being uneven. It happens more times here than at any other gym I go to (I have classpass and often use other gyms as well). Check yourselves, yall. Other people exist.

Club metro in Jersey City is a clean and excellent gym facility. The new location right by the water is both convenient and accessible. The manager has made a great effort to get new equipment and the locker rooms have significantly improved from the previous location. The timings during which the gym is open, are the best around.

Good towel service, shakes, lockers, sauna and is a clean facility. I usually go in the lunch break and its not overcrowded, but I have heard its a bit crowded after work. Conveniently located near offices for work days and near mall for weekend/shopping days.

The new location rocks! Big space that can get crowded around peak times like 5-7 PM, but still a ton of machines, a bigger locker room with a sauna, and a spacious room where an excellent variety of instructors lead their classes. The staff greets and serves you in a friendly way, and no one here judges one another. Came for the low prices, stayed for the low maintenance and lowkey greatness.

This gym is amazing and I’m very glad I joined. The employees are nice and they make you feel welcomed. Also the protein shakes are phenomenal. My personal favorite is the strawberry slam.

Love this gym. Recently joined after leaving Newport Fitness, and I’m glad I did. The set up is great. Lots of cardio machines, and they do have plenty of weight machines and free weights. It’s never too crowded whenever I come. Locker rooms are clean. The AC could be higher though, and a few more weight machines would also be pretty awesome, but these are my only complaints. Staff is also super friendly!!

Nj club metro is too good because , it is open till 11 pm. It has all machines you could possible want or need. Staff is good and friendly. People act classy which is desirable. What else , it is 32 bucks max , what else guys ... Seen some very inspiring guys and girls in gym so that is an add , some strong trainers which will inspire you... Thats it ...

Its been two months since I started coming out here and so far I like this gym. Given that we have few limited options for gyms in downtown JC, I think Club Metro is probably one of the best out there considering some of the other options in the area are insanely expensive.I first came to try this gym out on a guest pass and when I made up my mind, Gabrielle helped me signing up for the membership and she was very nice and patient and explained everything in detail about the gym.Though it is not a very fancy gym and if youre looking for fancy showers, saunas then this is not the place and since I was not looking for those fancy offerings, this gym perfectly fits the bill and my training needs.I like it how it is not super crowded even during the peak hours and staff is super helpful and always available to help.Overall a great gym and I plan to continue my membership.

Its a decent gym when it comes to equipment, not so much when it comes to amenities, especially showers - those deserve care. But still better than neighboring NYSC.Update: it has become oversold (hello franchise owners), and as a result rush hours in the am and pm are a no-go.There are also these people occupying machines while staring at their phones. I called in last week and canceled my gym membership. I call in today to double confirm (I had so many terrible experiences with gym cancellations), and apparently my membership was not cancelled (surprise) and I would have to pay the next month as they need 30 days notice. I spoke with Gabriela, who is extremely rude, and she demanded the audio recording from the person I spoke with regarding my cancellation. Not sure who records their phone calls. Apparently calling with the phone number linked to the contract or using the email I signed up with is not a valid way to cancel. They only accept certified mail.. Theres a reason for that, they ignore everything else to charge you the next month. Talk about unreasonable, terrible service.. If only I had that recording..Stay away from this gym, its old, improperly serviced, and had a grumpy elderly lady you do not want to talk with. Besides her, management was great.

For the price it is a good deal. i belonged to Newport Fitness but it is over twice the price and did not get much more for value for my money. If your goal is to do some Cardio 4 times per week for an hour and do a some weight training it is fine, Shower facilities are very limited but I only use them during the week. Also, not much floor room for exercise. I am doing a year membership and even if I buy out early it is cheaper than most clubs. Do not do the extended contracts they try to rope you into. Just take a year and see what you think.

Been a member since July and have yet to receive my welcome pack that was supposed to be mailed to me when I joined. Ive sent emails and spoke to the guy who signed me and my boyfriend up. He apparently left a note on my account - still have yet to receive anything back. Nobody has ever even responded to the emails.Additionally Wi-Fi rarely works, the guy who signs you up will remember you until you sign up and then will never have recollection of you ever again.

Im a pretty casual gym goer and this does the trick for me. It is small and can get crowded in peak times because there is not a ton of room and not a lot of equipment. It was really cheap for me to sign up because I got the cost spread out over time. If youre looking for a cheap gym and will live in the area for a while it is probably worth it.

Look, its a basic gym. You get what you pay for. Ive worked out in dirty, old college gyms and Equinox, the best gym in NYC. Its cleaner and nicer than a college gym, without the frills of Equinox. Its actually in a cool building, and all the staff members were nice to me. The music was not on a loop -- they use Pandora which is totally fine. Of course the sales advisors are going to pressure you -- its their job. Go to any other gym and youll find the same thing. If you dont like it, cancel and train outside.
