I could not be more happy with the UFHEALTH system. At 61, the only comparably good system I have been in was the USAF healthcare system, which contrary to popular belief, is magnificent. I love that all of my care team communicates with each other through the connected records system. I love that I have the app to make appointments, request refills, communicate directly with my doctor, and read my post visit summaries. I also have immediate access to test results, do I can make timely inquiries into anything in them. Only negative: no transparency for staff vaccination status. This SUCKS. We know healthcare workers are necessarily exposed to Covid victims, and as a result can pass it along. I think it is grossly irresponsible that UFHEALTH does not disclose to patients who has taken the precautions to protect themselves, their patients, and their own loved ones. Even a VOLUNTARY “Relax, I have been fully vaccinated” button staff could wear. I do have some trepidation after learning the remarkable nurse I had inpatient last year is militantly anti-vax. That was a shocking discovery. Fortunately, the new Medicare/Medicaid vax mandate will force healthcare workers to do the right thing. Good management would have already done it. In summary, I love the UFHEALTH system, but feel they have had a missed opportunity during the pandemic to be more proactive inside their walls. And I miss Dr John Lammie. Terribly.

The gynoncology and urogynocology departments are absolutely wonderful. Doctors, Residents, Nursing, and support staff have been so helpful, caring, and well, just wonderful. They listen, and make you feel like you are the most important person there. I have had two surgeries at UF Shands and found the facility to be clean and extremely pleasant. All follow up visits have little wait time, and again, they make you feel that you are very important. They go the extra mile to make sure your needs are met, even if not their own specific job.

DO NOT take your family here if they have covid; not this location or the other. They will not take care of your loved ones properly. The doctors and nurses were never on the same page. Between conflicting information, awful bedside manner, and the lack of empathy... The nurse that woke my mother up in the morning that told her You are going to die should be fired...Her blood work looked good, her organs were still good, her x-rays showed no progression....yet she suffered due to your incompetence. Do not go here if you are not vaccinated! They do not care how scared you are of the vaccine.

My dad is currently a Covid patient here. He was admitted on Saturday, July 17th. They conducted a CT scan, and did not see much but inflammation of his lungs. Since then, they have only done chest x-rays. However, each day, it’s becoming more difficult for him to breath. They are increasing his oxygen levels but stating they do not see anything on the x-rays.It took my dad saying, today, “I have insurance. You all need to do a CT scan because I can’t breath” for something more to be done. The CT scan showed that he has a TON of fluid on his lungs.X-rays do not show fluid. I’m not sure why my dad had to advocate in such a way for himself, and basically tell trained professionals the proper scan to conduct.I am livid but also glad my dad advocated for himself. The focus should be saving lives, not money.

My experience at this ER and the Max Leggett location were the worst experiences Ive ever had at a hospital. There was no sense of urgency, no beds available, and people, self included waited over four hours to be helped but was never called. Staff refused to give a timeline on the wait or do anything to help, comfort, or expedite any patients getting into rooms. It is truly sad that there are so many rooms and medical staff that can help people but dont. There is always this excuse of COVID-19, but in reality covid shouldnt stop others from getting treatment. Peoples health shouldnt have to take a back seat due to such. Its really a shame, Im extremely disgusted and will do my endeavor best not to use this hospital again. I almost get the feeling that if you have MEDICAID then you automatically take a backseat. Yes, I know they are trained to say triage but when you watch 10 people come in after you and leave before you. Its kind of hard to think that everyone has an issue worse than yours when no one has fallen out on the floor yet and died!

The staff at the epilepsy monitoring unit treated me so poorly. Caused a tremendous amount of undue stress and trauma completely unrelated to my epilepsy monitoring. One nurse inparticular Cassandra tried to manipulate me and lied about who I was speaking to, leading me to believe people from psych were coming. Practically held me prisoner after I spent hours of trying to ask what was going on and specifics to my situation. I would never ever take myself, family or anyone I care for back to that hospital. Use caution when going to this place. First I got treatment here both doctors I was referred to dont even accept appointments. When I called back to let them know of the referrals not working out they refused to help me. As both doctors are specialists I cant just go to there they have to refer me from what I was told when I tried to set an appointment with a similar doctor in the same field.Outside of this they will send different exams or tests to several different businesses. One of them was supposedly Mori Bean & Brooks. This is by far the worst just look up reviews. They will not send you a single bill plus overcharge you (more than stated on insurance) through insurance it isnt under their name either which is odd. They just send it to a debt collector. When you try to call them for answers they dont explain anything. They also split the bills which makes no sense when it is from the same visit. It is odd how I got every other bill except one from this place to say I owed 50. I paid the other bill which I paid in full from them. I dont know why this hospital keeps using them or sending them stuff when they repeatedly have the same issue. Several people have reported the same issue.

Recently had surgery here. Very weird experience. No complaints about the actual surgery. Also, the nurse who put the needle in for my IV was the best Ive ever had doing it. No pain and no bruising afterwards either. The building was a little sketchy. We had the first surgery of the day, and when we got there thirty minutes before the scheduled time, the doors outside were locked and no one was around. They were opened after we called the main number and security came by to check. Then I had to wait in the empty main hall for the office part to open 15 minutes later..still kind of sketchy. When I went to check in for my procedure the receptionist texted someone, took a phone call on the main phone, and then even took a phone call from her cell phone and was telling someone to get her pork chops. ...Yeah. Then they put me in the waiting room which hadnt been cleaned. There were multiple desks in there. One was being used, the other was sitting to the side covered in dust. On the floor were candy wrappers, dust, a face mask, and random trash. Then a nurse got me and all was fine. Also, no cameras in the waiting room. hmm.All in all, it wasnt the surgery or nursing staff that were bad. Just the oddity of the place. I had my surgery done at the faculty clinic so not the main hospital. 4 stars

Was told I could send my emergency contact up the the facility to retrieve a prescription. When my husband arrived he was treated like a criminal. Called back myself and was told to come up myself and the doctor would give me a prescription. Went up there and then was told they would not write me a prescription and if I needed something for pain I could try and go through the er for another visit but was told pain meds was not necessary. I’m giving three stars because I love my doctors and I feel like I’m being taken care of. However, being pregnant during this pandemic is hard enough and I don’t feel like families are being put first at this hospital. It’s hard enough not having my husband with me, he is missing out on so much and he deserves to be involved. If spouses can’t come into appointments with us, I do believe certain things should be taken into consideration. Why can’t we FaceTime during sonograms or video? I mean everyone knows where I go to Dr. and they know where I get my ultrasounds so what is the big deal? I feel if our spouses can’t be present then other options should be taken into consideration. This is causing more unnecessary stress to expecting moms! We don’t want to feel alone and that’s exactly what this facility is promoting. Your only requirements when entering the facility is a mask and no temperature, so why can’t my spouse come in if he has a mask and no temperature? Dads deserve to be involved, moms don’t deserve to be alone during such a vulnerable time!

The care has been pretty good, but adapting to the pandemic while allowing the father to have a role has not been a strong point. The mother needs the support of their husband/partner. He is literally a part of her whole health team. With the technology we have today, there are countless ways to allow the father to still be a part of the pregnancy journey. I understand that times are different with the pandemic, but I also understand that you have technology to help you adapt. Not allowing facetime or any recordings during the sonogram is ridiculous. Also, why not setup a video feed into a separate room for the father to be able to see the sonogram? I have numerous suggestions on how you could include the father even during this pandemic. Reach out.

A family member was just in this hospital. Originally went into the emergency room. We had to wait for a room of which is no big deal. Once in a room it was so dirty. I never once saw any of the staff wash their hands and they left urine on the floor after emptying his catheter. He was a fall risk and had to have one. The container they used they never even rinsed it and just hung it next to the toilet. They even left blood on the floor. they didnt even flush it after emptying it into the toilet. He needed to have a procedure done to find out why he was bleeding but they refused to do it. His religious views do not allow him to except blood. They kept telling him they could do it and just not give him blood and let him die if he ended up needing it. There is a way to do by using the persons own blood. In the end he did stop bleeding for the most part and they decided to release him saying they did their part and he isnt bleeding anymore instead of finding out why he was bleeding. He is now at a different hospital and has underwent the needed procedure and is doing better. If he would have listened to this hospital I have no doubt he could have died from either infection or by the loss of blood. If you care about your family drive the extra amount of time needed to get to a real hospital.

This complaint is for the security guard named Doyle. My issue:I was excorted to the emergency area and met by Doyle, which was not helpful at all. It took for another security Guard to come and actually help me with being able to get in contact with my aunt. She had no way of contacting any of her family. All I asked him was how do I get in contact with her and I was met with they (my kids) can’t be here; I get that. I was in the process of exiting the way I was brought in and the other guard told me I couldn’t go back the way I came. It’s like I was finding out everything as I went. Which was frustrating in itself. He points me to the door that I can exit out of and I realize I don’t know where this leads to. He gave me no direction and I had to end up asking staff, that completely understood my frustration, to help me get back to where I came from. I know this is a serious matter, but that doesn’t mean throw all your customer service out the window. Your job is to help us and protect us. If I have a problem, meet me with a solution.Full Story below. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .My Great Aunt has a bad fall today. The ambulance told me to meet them up here but apparently no children which is fine, but I have all her belongings including her phone.I heard the guy but he didn’t hear me. I got transfered to the trauma center here for emergency spinal fusion surgery about 3 weeks ago. The ER department did a great job they were very quick with getting a diagnosis giving me my options and getting me in and out of surgery quickly. My problems were all with the trauma recovery side. First off I was very surprised to learn that the room would not be private. The 2 other patients who came and went werent necessarily bothersome to me but I was just expecting a private room after having spinal fusion surgery. My other big problem was with call button response time. I understand I am not the only patient on the floor and most of the nurses I had were pretty good about coming quickly when I hit the call button however this one particular nurse I had two days in a row Von*** would sometimes take over a half hour to respond when I needed something and would even have the nerve to tell me that I never called in the first place. The day before I was discharged under that same nurses care I had to use the restroom, they assisted me into the bathroom and then proceeded to leave me there. After numerous calls and 20 minutes gone by I eventually had to force myself to get up and get myself back to the bed. On my discharge day the same nurse was in charge. When she removed the IVs from my wrist and arm there was no concern for my pain at all she literally grabbed each IV yanked twisted and pulled them out of my wrist and arm leaving gaping holes in my arm and wrist. No explanation on how to care for my surgical incisions was given to me by the nurse or in any kind of discharge paperwork. When I called the next day to find out what needed to be done to maintain the incisions it took a day to get a response and the 2 people who eventually called me back had conflicting information on what to do. I dont think I would ever willingly come back to this hospital. The overall nurse moral seemed very low there which is never a good sign.

Im used to the best of the best when it comes to mental health care facilities here in Jacksonville and UF Health downtown is not it. Not by a long shot. Next time, if theres a next time, I will go back to a hospital or facility that is more reputable in this area. Somewhere where I wont feel like Im in jail. I would name names of individuals who were sour with their treatment of us patients on Level 4 but Im too nice. Good luck to anyone who decides to stay at Shands.

I was billed 171 just for annual exam that is supposed to be covered by my insurance... the hospital sent my visit as a sick visit not a check up and accordingly they charged me 171 ... they have no idea how to deal with insurance claims and may be trying to make more money ... I am really disappointed... The issue hasn’t been resolved after five phone calls with f5 different answers ... still sending me letter that I owe them the money and past due 60 days ... I will never be there again!

UF Health Jax has an outstanding OMFS department, which primarily does major facial surgeries in addition to the dental clinic type stuff. They also have a top residency program there (so you get a lot of doctors reviewing your condition). Ive talked with folks from out of state who came to UF simply because they know they are world-renowned for oral and maxillofacial surgery. Ive done my own research and know this is certainly the best place to go in Florida and possibly in all of the Southeast. Dr. Salman and Dr. Bunnell were both involved in my mandible reconstruction. I can’t thank them enough for getting my problem fixed before the condition became worse. Highly recommended!

They get 2 stars due to everyone being so friendly and kind otherwise they would get zero. They had a month to scan in medical records, but didnt have it done for the Dr appointment. Then, instead of letting me know that they couldnt do anything today, they let us wait for over 2 hours.

Not from the area so just came to the closest ER to me. Worst mistake EVER! I am 5wks pregnant with unimaginable abdominal pain and spotting and Ive been sitting in the waiting area for over an hour! Seriously?? Meanwhile all the nurses are so relaxed, laughing. But they were very quick about getting me to registration! Making sure they get paid first before making sure my child is okay??? I am livid. As soon as my ride gets here Im going to another hospital. Only reason they get a one is because I cant give a zero. By the way I am still holding my cup of urine they asked for when I first got here. This ER is a freaking JOKE!!!!

One of the top research centers in Florida under the leadership of the chair Dr Chalam MD,PhD, MBA, JD..Very busy but your eyes are worth the wait. Your doctors will be state of the art and up to date and cutting edge.Well worth a visit even for a second opinion in predatory Florida with its millionaire eye surgeons. You owe it to yourself to confirm the necessity of surgery elsewhere..

Every appointment I have Im waiting at least an hour and Im pretty sure they dont keep people in order for when their appointments are because there were other people waiting on ultrasounds whos appointments were after mine and they still went first. I cant transfer because Im too far along in my pregnancy for anyone to take me. Coming here was such a bad decision.

Poor excuse of a hospital, my sister has been in there for 10 days and they have none nothing to help her. The nurse told me they do not run test on the weekends. I could go on and on about the care they have given her. My son was at the ER a couple weeks ago and they could not get the piece of metal out of his eye. He went to the a Doctors office and they removed it within minutes. When my sister needed help she sat on the potty for 20- 25 minutes before someone came to assist her and when they did they was very rude to her. I will be sending a letter to the Florida State Medical board and other services every week until this is address. I would not even let these quacks look at my dog.

I went to Tower II for a consult visit with Dr. Pulley. While I found Dr. Pulley to be a competent physician and the staff professional, the UF staff did not properly disclose that I would be charged as if I was being seen in a hospital. My current ENT is located within a hospital, but I have never been charged as such. What this meant for me was this: They collected my $30 copay - per my insurance benefits to see a specialist on the day of my visit. I thought that was all I owed. Then about a month later I received a bill for $285.25 for physician charges, then another one about a week later for $47.59 for hospital charges. I called to inquire about the charges and they told me it was because UF bills everything as if I was being seen in a hospital. This completely changes the way my benefits with insurance are processed. This was never explained to me when I called to schedule the appointment, nor when I arrived for my appointment. I wasnt even seen in a hospital. I asked for an office manager to call me back to discuss the lack of disclosure, but that never happened. A member of the office staff called me and just reiterated the same information. I again asked for an office manager to call back. That never happened. I called the billing office and they told me I could file a dispute - so thats what I did. About a month later I received a very short letter stating the charges were billed correctly and that I owed the amount on the statements. There was no contact information to speak with them directly, just the main telephone number to contact if I had any other questions. Had I known I would be out of pocket almost $400 for a second opinion consult, then I would have chosen another provider. I know its my responsibility as the policy holder to know my benefits - and I do. But when the staff fails to disclose vital information about the billing policy as a hospital, then I cant make an educated decision on whether to visit this facility or physician. Whats even more troublesome is the lack of contact information to speak with and dispute charges to my account. I now know to never seek a consult or ever visit a UF facility for any future medical needs.

I was here about a month ago following an accident. The trauma unit is top notch. They took time to explain things to me and keep me calm in a very scary situation. I was later moved to a room on the trauma step down floor for observation. My nurses were the absolute best! Eddie was my day nurse and Cassie was my night nurse. They went above and beyond to keep me comfortable. They both took time to talk with me and I felt truly cared for.

Im reading these reviews as I sit in my hospital room and Ive got to say that everyone Ive had to talk to has been very polite and helpful. The doctors show real concern for me and I feel like Im going to be taken care of. The nurses are sweet and very accommodating of my severe needle phobia. At no time did they make me feel bad or embarrassed for being scared. And with no insurance I thought for sure they would rush me out as soon as possible but theyve admitted me and truly seem to be worried about my well being. Im glad I came to this hospital.

Teaching and research medical center based in north downtown. Level one trauma facility. Do not be put off by the old buildings, excellent medicine and patient care is practiced inside. Set up as a campus, knowing where to go for what speciality can be confusing. Easy to find on 8th street. Several parking garages and lots available.

I checked in to the ER at 1030, I was immediately triaged and taken back to wait to be registered into there system, although the staff was super nice, they felt it was more important to go ahead and talk about what nurse should have gone where because this is a learning hospital. I was placed in the ER waiting room and I’m STILL HERE. Waiting for a room. It’s been over 4 hours, and I’m waiting to be seen for abdominal pain, colitis, My immune system is compromised, and I was just placed in a wheel chair in a corner, and every time I would ask for a nurse to already give me something for the pain I was in, i was told sure and not once did a nurse ever see me. It’s 1449, and not once has anyone even talked to me about my situation. It took me 3 days of bouncing between naval hospitals to be told I was able to come here, and this is not the treatment I would have ever expected. 4 hours, none of my needs where met, lots of staff, on there phones playing games. If you are in a serious situation, go else where. This is the first ER, I’ve been at where I wasn’t even addressed by any medical staff. Don’t think I’m coming back.

Yes there are some Good Doctors here at UF Health But, when they do any kind of procedure DO NOT expect getting copies of the report or any X-Rays they may take for some reason they seem to get LOST; One hand dont know what the other is doing; If you are admitted for some reason you end up with nasty nurses, some are nice but they are far and few between; For the past 3 weeks I have been re-guesting my X-Rays from the CathLab& NOT a Soul knows where they are; They have a GREAT ER and some good Doctor but past that no else seems to know what is going on

Absolute atrocious hospital. Wait times exceed 3+ hours with only a handful of people in the waiting area. Staff that handles check ins were rude and have been constantly on their phones. Someones name was called and he was sleeping.. one of the nurses walks over and yells at him and basically says get up now or you lose your turn.. The poor man was clearly ill and it was 2AM. Lack of concern or care across the board. Security guards dont actually check and just go through the movements, not securing anything. Seems they are understaffed as there is no reason why theres not a quicker response. Once in a room we waited yet again. The hospital itself should raise concerns about the unsanitary conditions - caps to used needles, etc were on the floor in the room we were given. The man in the picture walked in, didnt introduce himself and asked what the problem was. Unbelievably unprofessional across the board.

There are not enough words to express how dysfunctional this place is, dirty!!!! Like why do you even have janitors? ! They dont do anything but watch the trash on the floor multiply and the dust grow. The doctors cant get on the same page about anything and cant for the life of them not lose a chart let alone read it.One doc says one thing, the other says another. The students are unprofessionalThe nurse staff are bullies and dont care even if you are a fall risk And dont want to help you. This place is like staying in a prison. And there arent enough words to express how awful it is, and all the issues they need to correct.Lets not even get started on waiting times...A 12:15 apt shouldnt put you leaving at 7:30 at night.Seriously. . Scewwwwww this place! If you are sent here RUN LIKE HECK!ITS A TRAP!If I could give zero stars I would.Worst hospital in Florida.

I took my love one to the ER because they were have very bad manic mental episode. They had a history of mental illness an had been treated for the same issues at this hospital months ago. During the triage process I advised them of the very bad manic episode and that when I previously brought her in this condition they needed to give them some medicine to calm them so they wouldn’t become combative and possibly harm themselves or someone else. I asked the tech if they had viewed her previouse stay and commitment information. I was speaking this way trying not to escalate my love ones situation. In disbelief to me at this time the tech asked me, what is going on with them. I advised I just explained everything to you. The tech said “you can’t go with them if you’re going to act like this.” At this time the tech I wouldn’t allow me to accompany my love one, I was very stressed and troubled by this. I felt I was being miss treated. A gentleman sitting behind a glass enclosure said I heard that, I’m going to see that you get back there with them. A little while later the doors opened and the gentleman motioned for me to go back. Once back I observed two persons sitting in the area where my love one was sitting and a tech sitting behind a desk. One of the two persons was complaining, the television was playing and a picture of a person having and stroke was on the wall. I couldn’t believe we weren’t in a room with provisions for someone in my love ones state. My love began to have issues with things on the television and especially about the picture on the wall. I quietly advised the tech behind the desk of the television and picture. Advised him of the effects it was having on my love one. I person wearing the name badge Tina walks up to me and says in very nasty tone, “ we turned the television off, the picture is of a person having a stoke I’m not moving it, I suggest you go and help keep your love calm.” I asked Tina why are you talking to me this way and what have I done to you. She replied, “ if you don’t like the way we are treating you or your love one, you can take them somewhere else. “ I stood in disbelief. Fearing this treatment from Tina was going to continue to get worse , I decided to take my chances and leave. On our way out we passed by Tina. Tina asked are you leaving, I said,” yes.” Tina said, “thanks great.” I’m suggesting that Shane’s ER / Hospital is a bad place because absolutely is not. In fact we are blessed to have an ER/Hospital this good. THIS IS WHAT I EXPERIENCED ONE NIGHT AT SHANDS ER/HOSPITAL.

I wish I could give it no stars at all. UF health is full of horrible nurses and doctors who don’t give a damn about their patients or their family. My father was treated like hell and the doctor didn’t even give him the care he needed the nurses were lazy and would keep telling him oh at shift change. I would never refer anyone to the hospital. I though doctors and nurse cared about their patients but here no they don’t care at all. All they care about is their money. Please anyone who is reading this if you truly love your family do not send them here.
