I had my first child with First Coast Midwifery in their birth center. It was everything I hoped for and more. Sam is the most amazing human and midwife. She had answers for all my questions and concerns and really put me at ease about having an unmedicated birth. She is also the queen of sutures…so if you tear, like I did, she will stitch you up good as new!! The birth center she has created makes you feel like you are home. It does not feel like a hospital or a “medical” setting, yet it is fully equipped to handle an emergency if needed. Sam and her team come highly recommended by myself, my fiancé and my little girl she brought safely into this world!

Its taken me far too long to write this review.In fact my little boy turns one this week!After having our daughter at a birth center, my husband and I decided we wanted to have our second child at a birth center too.Sadly, the birth center our daughter was born at closed.I looked around and got the recommendation for First Coast Midwifery.So my husband and I scheduled a consultation with Samantha.Im going to just say.Samantha is the chilled person you will ever meet!She made the experience so stress free. Any worries I had going in for my prenatal appointments where usually dispelled before I even had a chance to tell her!I am very anxious and easily stressed out. I get shy and awkward when it comes to interacting socially. But the entire FCMS team was awesome and so kind! Especially Sharon, who usually did my physical monitoring when Samantha was with another Momma-to-be. She broke the ice with a hammer! So sweet, always happy and very easy to talk to.The prenatal visits always went well, and they were very accommodating when it came to our health insurance, which change probably twice during that 9 month period.The birth center itself is lovely and the rooms are beautiful and calming.Unfortunately due to an emergency, I wasnt able to have our son at the birth center.Samantha very quickly recognized the emergency and acted so quickly.I was transferred to Ascension St. Vincents where I had our little boy. But Sam was by my side the entire time. Her words of encouragement helped me so much, even just her placing her hand on mine reassured me.Of course I, highly recommend First Coast Midwifery services. For the professional, soothing and caring attitudes from ALL at the birth center!

From the first appointment my husband and i knew this was were we wanted to have our baby the atmosphere was a peaceful ,loving and friendly. Every single appointment Sam always made us feel comfortable and at ease, all of our questions were answered, they always pointed us in the direction to make sure we had all the details before making the decision. Overall first class service from the moment you step in and Alyssa greets you! This week we had our amazing birth and throught it all i felt so supported by the entire team Jess, Sharon and Sam it was never a rush, they encouraged to listen to my body and things will work the way they are supposed to. Im still in awe we just had a baby! Honestly Ive been telling ladies they should at least give themselves the opportunity to visit FCMS before deciding were they want to give birth i believe they will be loved well and have the most amazing experience they can have.

This was my second home birth and when I couldnt find the old midwives I went to before, I did some research and my instincts told me to give FCMS a call, and that was a great decision. Sam and all the crew were awesome to work with and very easy going. The place was nice and clean. My only son was caught by such loving ppl who helped me push through when I wanted to give up. If ever I fall on my head and decide to have another child, they will be my first choice. They truly do make you feel loved!

Initially I loved this practice. However in the end I realized it was not what I thought. First of all there were a lot of things that were not being taken care of as they should’ve. As this was my first baby there were things that I didn’t know should be done, until I moved and went to another midwife and really seen from new eyes. They never did fundal measurements NOT ONCE. I went for my anatomy scan and literally 10 weeks later they still had not looked into my results?! Thank god when I did switch my new midwife got in touch with the place I got the scan done and after reviewing the scan (that this office sent me for and never looked at) they found a spot on my babys heart that needed watched. An anatomy scan is important and something they didn’t even care to look into. They were incredibly hard to get in touch with. Knowing what I know now and having the midwife (at another practice) I did in the end made me see how uncared for I was here. My girl is almost five months now and I still think about what happened here.

The most amazing team and support during pregnancy that you will find! Sam and her team are rock solid wonderful human beings!!! They provide love, support, acceptance, etc. They are very laid back and help embrace your pregnancy and baby in whatever direction it goes in. We will be tied to them forever, and would highly recommend!!!

With a last minute move from Ohio to Florida (less than a month ago), FCMS took me on as a patient very late in my pregnancy (3 weeks prior to my due date). They made sure to introduce me to each staff member, all of whom treated me as part of the family. The office is cozy and inviting. I’m so grateful I found FCMS to lead me through the natural birth of my third babe. Looking back, I wish I had Sam and her staff as my care providers for all of my pregnancies. Thank you for an excellent experience.

After having my first baby in a cold hospital room and having a horrible labor, I knew I wanted something different this time. I heard so many good things about FCMS so I went for it. I fell in love with everything about the place as soon as I saw it! It was a super bonus that I could involve my 3 year old too! She loved every visit there too. When I went into labor, the team was there at the door waiting for me with open arms. They quickly checked our vitals and got me into one of the amazing tubs at the center. I comfortably labored there with my awesome Doula(Dallas Arthur), husband and 3 year old by my side. No one bossed me around or told me what to do. There was no poking or prodding, just quiet relaxed labor how I wanted it. Jess and Virginia were there to catch my baby and bring him into the world and I had the best birth experience ever! I highly recommend them as a choice if you want an incredible unforgettable birth experience.

I love attending births with my Doula clients at FCMS. Sam and her team make you feel right at home. Sam allows moms the ability to labor and deliver in a peaceful setting. As a first time mother I was nervous about who to go with. Did I want a midwife or would a Dr be better? Did I want to deliver at a hospital or be comfortable in an environment I was already familiar with? After a lot of research my options all leaned toward midwife. So I went to researching.. and I found that Sam and her team were rated the best and had incredible reviews. So besides meeting Sam at my work place I knew I wanted to go to FCMS! My experience was above and beyond amazing. And my delivery was even more incredible. Rebecca and Jess were there for me when I had to deliver and let me tell you, they were there for me every step of the way! All of the staff are friendly and welcoming. They actually care about their patients! I will definitely be back for my second baby! Thank you ladies you are the best!!

So this is our second time working with first coast midwife services and I have to say these ladies are greatly appreciated. The amount of care, patience, and determination to help my wife birth our 2 beautiful daughters will never be forgotten. I had a home birth a few months ago with FCMS and it was amazing. I was hesitant to the idea of a home birth but after doing one with Maya I could not have asked for a better experience. The ease and comfort that they were able to provide me with, was something I never would have imagined. The whole journey with Sam, Maya and their students was truly remarkable and I will definitely be back for any future pregnancies! I just did a home birth with Sam a couple months ago, and it was honestly one of the best experiences of my life (which is something I NEVER imagined I’d be saying about giving birth)! My husband and I are both nurses... and, to say we are impressed is an understatement. 1.) The environment and their demeanor is amazing - everything is clean and calm. 2.) My husband and I have been inside the majority of the hospitals in JAX, and I genuinely believe you will not find better care anywhere else. 3.) Everyone I met was so nice and super helpful, and you can tell they all love what they do.We will definitely be coming to them for all future pregnancies! These people rock!!!I’m a nurse (and so is my wife). My wife is really into natural stuff (but not in a weird lol), and so am I but def not as into it as she is. So when my wife said she wanted to use midwifes I was petrified, and honestly didn’t even know what kind of witchcraft she was getting us into. But her body, her rules! So I was just a nervous wreck up until we finally met with midwife Sam, and then instantly all my nerves were gone (there’s that witchcraft I was talking about). She was super professional and knowledgeable. Her clinical skills were far beyond what I had (wrongly) assumed was the scope of practice for midwifes. They do all labs, most imaging, can prescribe meds (to extent under an md), and pretty much everything else one would need/do at prenatal visits but in a much calmer environment. Also when it comes time for the actual birth these midwifes come prepared for almost any situation and work hard to make sure you have a great birthing experience. They stay with you for a while after birth to make sure you are comfortable and that no complications are occurring. They are helpful throughout the postpartum period as well!!! And it’s not just making sure you are alright but that your baby is alright. My wife and I would go to the pediatricians and they would freak us out with potential problems that our son might have and then we would go for my wife’s checkups with these awesome midwifes and they would instantly calm us and inform us that there was clearly nothing to worry about! If I could give these awesome women 10 stars I would. Thanks!

Sam and her staff are awesome! We had a wonderful experience. They were very attentive and caring throughout my pregnancy. Anytime I had a question or concern, I was responded to quickly. And during my delivery they got to my home fast, took amazing care of me and my baby, did all the set up and breakdown of the tub, etc., and did it all in an encouraging and loving way. So thankful for First Coast Midwifery!

Absolutely one of the best experiences with a birth I have ever had! I’m a dad, but seeing how Sam and her team worked quickly and efficiently while also keeping a calm and relaxed environment is beyond amazing! She made the birth experience with my wife and I absolutely amazing. We will for sure be using her in the future for sure! I was skeptical about the idea of a home birth but it was nothing like the 1920s series “ call the midwife” so no need to worry Sam and her awesome ladies have the latest and greatest in home birthing technology. They are absolute true professionals and I highly recommend to give them a call and let them give you a true birthing experience how it was meant to be!

Amazing care and knowledge! We were thankful to have found and worked with them for our pregnancy. They were always available to answer questions or address any concerns that we had. I found this to be much more comforting and relaxed than the typical doctors office visits. We absolutely loved working with these ladies!

Her response time was amazing, and ability to jump right in whenever my four hour labor progressed so quickly. This team was so helpful to my wife and I as we welcomed our third child into our home. This was our first time having a child at home, and they answered all of my questions thoughtfully and quickly as we explored it. Once we decided to have a home birth, they walked us through the process with great care. The birth itself was an amazing experience. As a prenatal chiropractor I was looking for a midwive that would support all my decisions (more holistic/natural) during pregnancy and birth. Maya compassionately handled the transition. Sam is a wonderful midwife. We welcomed our third baby at home with little to no issues. The appointments were easy and simple. Her office is cute and inviting, and there’s a good play area for any children you already have. She has a good system with handouts on all sorts of things you might experience during pregnancy. Sam is easily reachable by phone or email as well. If God gives us another little one in Jax someday we will return to Sam for care.

I cannot recommend First Coast Midwifery enough. The whole team is absolutely amazing. Throughout my care with them I felt supported. Sam and Mandi were with me throughout my birth and I could not of done it without them and their encouragement. Any problem that arised during labor Sam knew exactly how to handle. We just had our fourth child, and weve been blessed to have Samantha catch the last two. Her and her staff are absolutely amazing. At every appointment she made sure that I was comfortable and well informed. When this last baby was breached at 39 weeks, she remained so calm and encouraging. He eventually turned and we were able to have him at home as planned with Samantha right by my side. Shes also been so helpful with follow up care and post partum visits. If anyone is considering using a midwife, I always recommend First Coast Midwifery Services.

I contacted this facility multiple times at the beginning of my pregnancy between February and April. Each time I spoke to the same representative and she would take my information down and let me know that someone higher up would be contacting me. Each time I was told that I never heard from anyone afterwards.

After a lackluster relationship with a traditional OB/GYN, I found Samantha and her team. We immediately switched to be under their care. Appointments were on time and dedicated to me and baby, provided with education, and advice. Unfortunately, I was not able to have a home birth (baby came 5 weeks early) would definitely recommend and have then as my midwives in the future.

It is hard to express how truly thankful I am for Sam and her amazing care that she provides. I had the labor of my dreams and my 10lb baby was my easiest birth out of my 4. Sam always calmed my fears and kept me confident in my ability to achieve this birth, while ensuring that both my baby and I were healthy and low risk. I have to also mention that she comes with a pretty fabulous team! I wouldn’t dream of choosing another care provider if I ever have another baby. She’s a very loved midwife and friend to our family.

I had a great experience with Midwife Sam. She was very attentive and supportive throughout my entire pregnancy. Even when I transferred to the hospital she and Maya remained at my side while I labored into the wee hours. Sam made sure that I was comfortable and that I was not pressured into anything I did not want to do. 10/10 would recommend. I love the midwifery model of care and Sam is a highly trained and capable midwife who helped me to have the home birth we wanted for our second baby. Sam delivered our baby girl 2 weeks ago and we couldn’t be happier about our choice with her as our midwife. The first time I spoke with Sam over the phone I was 5 weeks pregnant and very nervous about all the changes my body was as beginning to go through. I wasn’t even a patient yet and she was so caring on the phone. She told me what the next steps were to become a patient then she answered some of the questions I already had about the pregnancy. That call with her settled my nerves and I knew I wanted her to deliver our baby. The following several months were the same if not more. She was always available for questions and she never seemed rushed during our appointments. I always felt as though I was priority when she was with us. Delivery of our girl was no different. She was calm and reassuring the entire time. It’s obvious that she loves her career as a midwife and that it’s a true calling for her. If/when we have another baby, Sam will be there to catch that one too!

We had a wonderful experience with Samantha!! She was a constant encouragement throughout my entire pregnancy. She is a great listener and extremely knowledgeable. I felt like I was going to meet a friend everytime I had a prenatal appointment. Samantha was always willing to let big sister be a part of the appointment too which was very helpful. Our sweet boy was water born and we were able to have the birth I was dreaming about. Wed use her again in a heartbeat! ❤

I was lucky enough to have Sam attend my second daughters birth and I cant wait to have her in our home again! Prenatal care is everything you could dream of! My favorite part was the way she included our oldest daughter when checking on baby. She answers every question no matter how silly and is always so sweet and comforting. She is the reason I had the confidence to birth at home and Ill never look back! It was the most healing experience after having OB care and a hospital birth. I also had issues MONTHS after giving birth and she was so helpful with my questions and concerns even though they didnt fall within her compass of care. She was more than a midwife. When my wife and I decided to have a natural child birth, we chose Sam to be our midwife. Sam was very knowledgeable and and helpful throughout the pregnancy. All of our questions were answered and concerns addressed. When it came time for the birth, Sam came over as soon as we called. She was very encouraging with my wife and reassuring with me. When the our new daughter finally arrived, Sam was quick and professional while still maintaining a friendly demeanor. I would recommend her services to anyone looking to have a home birth.

We love everyone at this practice! Decided to have my second child with them. First child was in the hospital and after having an unsatisfactory experience we decided on a different route for baby #2. Sam was recommended to me from a good friend who was her midwife before she started her own practice.I love how comfortable Sam made me feel the time we met. All the midwives and student midwives are super friendly and you meet all of them throughout your appointments so you’re familiar with all of them. My husband was very skeptical about a home birth but they reassured him time after time. The birth experience was like no other. With my first, my epidural did not work due to laboring so fast. He was born in 6 hours from start to finish. My second was born in 2.5 hours from start to finish. No way I would have made it to the hospital.Sam and her team do a very good job of making sure your home is prepared for you, for baby and for them. I did want a water birth but unfortunately I labored too fast for Maya to be able to set up the pool. Maya was the one who got to us in time and caught our baby just in time! Sam’s midwives live all over Jacksonville so one of them is bound to get to you quicker than the others. Sam came shortly after Maya. They assess you and let you do your thing. They assess momma and baby all in the comfort of your home. I felt safe, comfortable and more relaxed than I did in the hospital. For that, my body is thanking me and is healing better than ever. We have two healthy baby boys and there’s no doubt that we will go back to them if we choose to have baby #3! If I knew how quickly I labored with my first, I would have gone this route from the get go!P.s. They are officially a birthing center! So if you aren’t comfortable birthing at your home or don’t want to or can’t, they have two amazing rooms with tubs that will make you feel as if you’re at home!P.s.s. I am not someone who is big into homeopathic things but many of the things they suggest for you work and they’re all natural! Like natural ways to ease constipation, getting iron levels up, best prenatal, ways to prevent tearing and so many more!Thank you all for your hard work, y’all are seriously the best and I wouldn’t have wanted to bring our second child into this world any other way!

Im feeling super excited after meeting Sam this morning for our first consultation. I felt so comfortable. She makes you feel as if you are part of the family. The environment is so much more appealing than a typical doctors office. I only wish I knew about her for my previous births. If you are considering a midwife look no further. My husband and I were going to make a few appointments with a few different midwifes before deciding but after this morning it isnt even needed. The most down to earth women I have met in the medical field. I love it and Im looking forward to the next 8 months.

In my opinion Sam cannot be rated in stars because she goes beyond them in every way. She helps bring life into this world and saves them. From the first appointment to the last she treats you as if you are her only patient. She is Very knowledgeable and attentive to your needs and desires for your personal birthing experience. She has delivered two of my babies; both deliveries going completely opposite from each other. My last delivery she saved my baby’s LIFE!! After many hours of pushing my baby arrived with her cord around her neck, blue, and not crying/breathing. Sam quickly acted sucking her nose and mouth, doing chest compressions, cpr & revived her very quickly. So fast that my husband whom is pictured with Sam didn’t fully realize what was going on. This picture is dear to me for that reason. IF I ever have any more children I would not choose anyone else. She is personable, very supportive and caring. She is a true natural at what she does. You will be completely satisfied with the level of care she provides. I know I am!!

I cannot say enough good things about Sam! She made my home birth and prenatal care even better than I thought it would be. She so easily calmed my nerves and had an answer to any question I had. I enjoyed my midwife visits since she made me feel so comfortable.She was able to keep me laughing at 9cms...I dont think I need to say anymore! Wonderful and caring midwife.

This is truly a woman who cares deeply about her patients, always puts them first; she is the midwife that everyone deserves to have and that other midwives want to be. Sam pushes me further to greatness than any other person ever has and I am ecstatic to have ended up as one of her student midwives, with her incredible patients, in a relaxed atmosphere where we strive to treat every patient as a friend rather than just another patient. I cannot sing her praises enough!

Very unprofessional. Does not go above and beyond at the prenatal appointments. I was told everything was completely normal with my pregnancy, due to the lack of care at the prenatal appointments my baby passed at 32 weeks.

Samantha has given me personal care as my midwife for my second daughter. Ive always felt comfortable and cared for when with Samantha. One of my favorite memories was singing worship music during labor. She was able to calmly handle the complications that arose and deliver a healthy baby at home. Being a midwife is an extremely taxing profession. Samantha was called to do this and is passionate about her mamas and babies. I believe she will do whatever it takes to ensure healthy mom and baby.

There are truly not enough wonderful things to be said about Samantha. She is everything you could hope for in a midwife and more. Encouraging, kind, knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and the list could go on forever. I have been fortunate to be under Sam’s care for my last two pregnancies and was so blessed to have her assist in the homebirth of my son. I greatly looked forward to every prenatal appointment knowing I would get all of my questions answered and also that I would get to just have some much needed carefree conversation. Her care throughout the birth process was incredible. She provided me with such a calm and assuring presence that truly helped me stay focused during the hardest parts of labor. Postnatal care was amazing as well, and even now she will still answer any of my questions even if they are not related to babies ☺ It feels as though I’ve known her forever and she truly has become a part of our family. If you are looking for a midwife, you absolutely cannot go wrong with Sam. I cannot recommend her enough. She will definitely be my midwife for future pregnancies!

One of the best decisions I’ve made so far this year was switching to a home birth with Sam and her team. When hospitals failed me with guidance during my pregnancy struggles, Sam and Kelly Ann did a fabulous job with helping me find herbs and supplements to ease my discomforts. I went into labor at 2:20am and our son was born at 4:47am on June 14th

Throughout my prenatal care, labor/delivery & postpartum care Samantha was a delight! My whole pregnancy she had made me feel confident & reassured & that my baby & I were in good hands. She was very patient with my many questions as a first time mom! During labor she went above & beyond to ensure I was comfortable & was good company to my family that attended the birth. Sadly my labor ended in a hospital birth, but Samantha was knowledgeable enough to not put mine or my sons life in danger & we were transferred to UF where she made sure we were going to be taken care of. & after my son was born (hospital staff failed to help us establish good breastfeeding) she helped me learn how to get my baby to latch well. Although I didnt get the birth I had hoped for, Samantha ensured the birth of my son was a good experience & I will forever be grateful for that! I highly recommend her to anyone interested in home birth & will be seeking her service in all future pregnancies!

I hired Samantha late in my pregnancy, wanting to have a water birth at home. She was absolutely wonderful in providing advice via phone or text when I needed it and showing up at my home when she had a concern about my symptoms. She spent a night with me while I was in faux labor, understood my concerns about breaking my water a week later after off and on labor, and then accommodated my every request when we finally decided we had to do just that. She was kind, distractingly funny (a huge plus when you’re having contractions), and most importantly very empathetic. I highly recommend her and her team!

Had 2 babies delivered by Sam and she encouraged me all the way. I really didnt think I could do it but she kept reminding me that I was doing it. She gave me the strength to go on and kept never pressured me into anything, she let me do what was best for my body. I cannot recommend her enough!

While I will not be able to deliver with First Coast Midwifery, I would love to! I recently contacted Sam to inquire about delivering at home with her. Unfortunately, due to Florida law, I will not be able to legally birth at home due to a pre-existing medical condition. That said, I was very impressed with the timely manner in which she responded to me, the detail she used to explain the law to me, and her offer to help in any other way necessary - whether it was for recommendations for another provider (or doula) or more information should I need it. I had to switch providers at 37 weeks when I moved to Jacksonville over the summer. Sam made me feel very comfortable from our first consultation during a very stressful time. She wasnt even on call and ended up delivering my baby in the car because my labor was so fast. If it wasnt for her I would of had an unassisted birth! She also confirmed my baby had tongue ties and got me a referral to get it corrected.

There are just not enough words to describe how much I recommend First Coast Midwifery!!! I wish for every woman to have the experience I had with Sam and her team! Sam took care of my family throughout my entire pregnancy, even when I initially lived 5 hours south of Jacksonville. She was very flexible and accommodating to our schedule. I didn’t move to Jacksonville until I was 30 weeks, but I never once felt forgotten about or uncared for. Every appointment is something to look forward to. Sam is such a fun and easy person to talk to.KellyAnn is also amazing. When Sam is out catching babies, KellyAnn is your go-to girl! Sam caught my second, third, fourth, and fifth! We moved one thousand miles away, became pregnant with our fifth, and moved back to FL so I could have the best home birth experience with the midwife I grew to love, respect, and had found such comfort in. She couldn’t get rid of me even if she tried! She has this amazing strength inside of her that empowered me as I was laboring and feeling weak. Sam’s down-to-earth attitude put me at ease at every appointment, and I love how she really lives out the fact that birth is a natural process, and she is there to assist with it. Its easy for me to feel out of control in those situations, but her mindset always reminded me that my body is capable and built for this! Im so glad I met her!!

Sam was my midwife for my first and if I still lived in the area, she would definitely be there for my second as well! I had a lovely home water birth and caught my daughter with my own hands. It was perfect!

Sam is an amazing midwife! She is super knowledgeable and very evidence based in her practice. The relationship that she develops with the mothers creates a very at ease and comfortable environment. She is very devoted to her work.

I was in Jacksonville after our adopted son was born and First Coast Midwifery was essential to us! They were so flexible and got us an appointment almost on the spot and were incredibly helpful- making sure our son was healthy and that we had everything we needed. They even helped get us in touch with a breastmilk donor. We are forever grateful.

Samantha is amazing!! She helped deliver my second child when she was a student, then when I had my third, she came to the Birthing Center because she was part of my birthing plan. We love her so much she was also a guest at our wedding!! I love you and I am so Proud of you!!

Ive been debating just the right words to put on the review section for Sam but to be frank, what Im about to say doesnt even cover how absolutely amazing Sam is. Not just as a midwife and care provider but as a person in whole and that.... Is exactly what any expecting mom can wish for when looking for care for her and baby. I came to Sam at around 6-(8ish) weeks looking for care that was aside from the normal OB practice office setting/hospital birth. I instantly was in awe at how welcoming and just spectacular Sam is able to speak about her work. She gave me full around the clock care 24/7! Every question I had was never left unanswered, and every appointment was just as much something to look forward to as the next. When it came time for my labor, Sam never left my side. She stayed with me from beginning till end and was with me not only physically but mentally which was super important to me. I had an amazing water birth on 7/12 and its a day I will never forget. My birth was peaceful, magical and down right everything I ever imagined it to be and I have Sam to thank for that. If you want someone who truly cares about what they do in their profession and puts you and baby first than I absolutely recommend using First coast midwifery services. I have not only gained an amazing midwife but a friend. Thank you for all you have done for my family, my birth, our baby and most importantly for me. I couldnt have embarked on this journey without you! First coast midwifery gets a 10 out of 10 from me and I will be using Sam for the rest of any kind of services I may need she can provide me with. My labor was a three day event I kept going in and out of labor. Sam stayed by my side for three days. My labor stalled many times, with Sams guidance we tried many methods to restart the process. After 72 hours of this process my body shut down... we decided to make the trip to the hospital. Sam made our arrangements before making it to the hospital. When we made it there we were greeted and ushered immediately to a room. Sam made sure I received everything I requested and I ultimately ended up receiving a near homebirth experience with Sam by my side. She helped catch the baby and stayed with me for awhile after he was born. Im so grateful for her time, care, and love that she puts into her job.

Sam caught my last baby and I wish she could catch more if my family wasnt complete. She is an amazing and caring midwife who will be there for her client every step of the way! Highly recommend her !!

Sam caught my second baby (first out of hospital) she was always my favorite midwife to see. She was always exactly what I needed at each appintment, excited, energetic, calm, informative. I never left an appointment without specifically thinking so highly of her. I only wanted her to be on call when I went in labor. I was distraught when she wasnt. Thankfully she came untill the other midwife could drive in from out of town and then she stayed with me even though she didnt have to. Ill never forget being in the middle of active labor (trying not to freak out because this labor was so different than last time) and looking up and seeing her siting on her bed with a clipboard documenting something and getting washed over with such a sense of calm before I could even put words to my distress. Even after Ellie was born and she didnt want to breathe correctly right away Sam was there explaining why she didnt want to, what it meant, and what they were doing to encourage her to breathe more. Everything was totally fine just like she said. She then followed though with doctor recommendations, tongue tie/ breastfeeding help. She definitely was everything I never got in a hospital and more than I ever thought I could get from a midwife. I cant wait for my next baby because I know who Ill call.

Sam took care of me for my prenatal care and was awesome! My son has some possible heart complications, so we, unfortunately, must deliver at a hospital just in case he requires emergency medical attention. However, it was her thorough, caring and attentive care that caught the slight irregularity. I havent delivered yet (Im 36 wks and 5 days today). But, if she can make it, she has still agreed to be at the delivery to greet my miracle baby. Thank you, Sam! We are so grateful for your support and dedication.**Update 7/10/18: Pregnant with baby #2 and FCMS is caring for me again! Samantha’s support during my last pregnancy and follow up during and immediately after my delivery (even when my hired midwife didn’t even so much as call me!!!) made me feel comfortable and able to rely on them for the care of myself and my new baby. So, here’s to second chances st home birthing! **

My wife and I had an amazing experience with First Coast Midwifery Services! Sam is very professional, caring, and affordable. The care during pregnancy, at the homebirth, and postpartum has been top notch. We will definitely be using First Coast Midwifery Servies again!

Our first two babies were hospital births with care from OB’s but for our third I had my heart set on a home birth in water. The care that Sam provided throughout my pregnancy was wonderful. She helped to calm the fears that I had about delivering naturally and held my hand when I ended up going to the ER during a scare in my second trimester. The birth of our son took a scary turn due to the cord being wrapped around his neck. Sam jumped into action without faltering and literally saved his life by performing infant CPR. I can’t tell you how grateful I am for her and her level of knowledge and ability to care for her moms and their babies. I’m pretty sure our family is complete but if we were to ever decide to have another one, there’s not even a question of who we would choose again. We LOVE Sam!

It was such a pleasure to have Sam as my midwife for the birth of my third (HBAC) baby! From the prenatal care, to the birth (and beyond), she far exceeded all of my expectations. There is just something about her presence that makes you feel calm and confident! She was made to support women and catch babies!

From start to finish, my experience with First Coast Midwifery was fantastic! Samantha and her team really took the time to get to know me and help me make the best choices for me based on my own situation and history, not just some standard protocol. When I had a suspected medical issue during the pregnancy, Sam quickly arranged to have the needed testing done immediately. I was really impressed by the level of care and professionalism.I have struggled with varicose veins since my first pregnancy and they have gotten worse and worse with each baby. Samantha recommended supplements for me which helped so much that I could actually stand again and I could make it to the end of the day without throbbing pain. For me, this was nothing short of a miracle!One thing that really stands out in my pre- and post-natal care is how my midwives trusted me to trust my body and my instincts. Knowing that I have precipitous labors, Samantha was on high alert for my call when I neared my due date. She immediately took my “I might be in labor” text seriously, even before I had a chance to time contractions. The whole team was there quickly and in ample time to help me have an amazing waterbirth in my tub! They were phenomenal, and so attuned to our personal and religious needs throughout.Compared to a hospital birth with a doctor or midwife (I have done those as well), at my home birth, my midwives were concerned not only about catching the baby, but also about my comfort. Lateisha rubbed my back and poured water over my back when I had contractions. This really helped me relax and get through them with minimal pain.Samantha, it was totally worth the drive through rush hour traffic for your personal midwifery care!

The first appt I ever had with a midwife was with Sam, and I instantly felt a connection with her and fell in love! I walked out of the office that day so elated and extremely confident in my decision, that I immediately called my sister to tell her about my experience. Sam is patient, kind, and will spend as much time with you as needed to answer any questions you have, and just chat. I never, ever felt uncomfortable or afraid. Im so excited for the birth of my baby girl, knowing that she will be by my side.

I had the best expirience delivering my baby with Sam . Words truly cannot describe how greatful I am . This was my first home birth and so I was feeling a little nervous leading up to labor day . But once the time came around all those feelings subsided from laughing , dancing , walking and being 7cm dilated. I couldnt have asked for a better labor . There simply are not enough words to describe these wonderful midwives at First Coast Midwifery! Sam and KellyAnne are such an unstoppable team and I wouldnt pick any other midwives. They took care of me my entire last pregnancy and for my only homebirth. While I wouldnt consider my homebirth ideal (because of circumstances out of our control) Sam did an 11 out of 10 job with making my birth as smooth as possible. My pregnancy was rough and my birth was not much different, but I felt supported and not that i was a bother to them when I had questions or concerns about something. I was always taken seriously and not treated like I didnt know what I was talking about when it came to how I felt about things. Like I said, I simply could go on and on, there just arent enough words. All of the students are very kind hearted and are going to make incredible midwives. Thank you so much ladies! TL;DR Sam is a brilliant, dedicated, loving, and incredible midwife. She puts your (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual) health and well-being above all else. You will receive care from her that changes your life.Ill be up front and honest that Ive worked with Sam for a couple of years now. I acknowledge my bias so that this is completely truthful. I worked with Sam when I was just a student midwife and I constantly learned so much from her. Watching how she interacts with and cares for each person who comes into her office truly shaped me as a student.Before I ever even became pregnant, Sam helped me with her knowledge. We did research together on different herbs and supplements in order to help me achieve and maintain a pregnancy. The excitement and happiness that she felt for me when I told her I was pregnant was so genuine and beautiful. She dealt with late night texts and fears about whether I could carry the pregnancy to term or not, not just as my friend, but as my midwife. Ive watched her extend this love and strength to many of her clients.I had a crazy pregnancy full of scares and drama, but through it all Sam was there. She made sure to include my partner in everything (even though he was on deployment for six months of my pregnancy), acknowledging his role and importance in keeping everyone healthy.My birth was a whirlwind of amazement. I had a very fast birth that I did not tolerate well because I never got a chance to wrap my head around being in labor. Sam kept me grounded though, to the point that part of my birth mantra was just repeating her name because I needed her to be there with me. She was such a calming force that laid out over my bathroom (where I was laboring). I had a beautiful water birth in the end. Sam helped me and my partner catch our gorgeous rainbow baby

SO, when I got pregnant with my 2nd child I panicked a bit because my previous midwife was closing her services and not accepting anymore patients for the remaining year. After searching my options I came across fcms and I was instantly happy i did. Kelly Ann was very knowledgable and welcoming and the office was very homey. after a couple visits I met Sam who just gave birth herself but still dedicated to the practice and very much involved. how did she do it? beyond me!! Sam and the entire staff, no matter who I was seeing, never once made me feel uncomfortable and always informed me on my options. I birth at home to a healthy 7.1lb baby girl 12.28.18 at 2:17am and Sam and her entire team of ladies were there by my side. I honestly LOVE and TRUST this sisterhood so much. I just cant say enough. thank you ladies for all you have done and continue to do. XoxO

She is not only kind and considerate but truly cares about yours and babies wellbeing. Her bedside manner is more than you can ask for. I could not rave more about my midwife. She will always hold a special place in my heart.

Im currently seeing Sam for the care of my second child, we love her, this pregnancy has been a breeze and we actually look forward to our visits (even my almost three year old looks forward them) you can tell she was born to do this line of work, she is genuine, caring and always puts a smile on our faces.

Switched from a regular obgy who made me nervous at every appointment over to Sam. Couldnt have made a better decision. Got to have a home birth just like i wanted. Sam is laid back which meshed with my personality, and all the other staff was wonderful as well. They really make you feel more like family than a patient.After i gave birth Sam noticed my sons heart was beating a little funny and we ended up taking him to Wolfsons ER. She called ahead and sent them all our information so that when we got there they swept us right in. All the Doctors and nurses were amazed that Sam noticed the irregularity and told me that if i had given birth at the hospital they might not have noticed it. My son is 3 months old now and completely healthy thanks to Sam.I would highly recommend FCMS to anyone wanting a more natural approach.
