I am so thankful for Mrs. Scott and the doctors in Pediatrics. Today my children had their first appointment after moving from the west coast and they made us feel so comfortable while answering our questions. The women who checked us in and gave us the paperwork was so nice. Next, came Mrs. Scott and she checked my kids in and was so friendly. She went out of her way to make sure to talk to each of my kids and make them feel important. The doctor was next and he was absolutely incredible as well. He listened to all my concerns, answered them, spoke to my children (instead of acting like they didnt know anything) and made the whole experience so much easier. Weve been to several military hospitals from coast to coast and this by far for us was the best experience. Keep up the great work pediatrics department!

He never asked her background he never asked anything despite her recently having a stroke and having health issues that would compromise her due to covid. Once he left her he disappeared for 2 hours we were looking for someone to provide her with a blanket since she had severe nausea and extreme coldness the young lady behind the registration desk seen to be the only professional around and provided my wife with a warm blanket after waiting several hours alone in the waiting room my wife cried and begged to go home. Now she is refusing to go back to the hospital. Her fever remains in the one hundreds so Ive decided I have to call rescue in the morning to get her up and out ... Unprofessional. Most of these people don’t even want to be doctors or nurses, they are only nurses and doctors because they are stationed and that’s the job they studied that they feel is more convenient for them. You guys have to do better. It shouldn’t be hard to make appointments, stop sending me back and forth to green team then to obgyn just to make an appointment with my assigned obgyn. I asked multiple times for a more experience obgyn, because my current obgyn is giving off weird vibes , he act like he’s nervous and have no idea what he is doing. I understand he is a residence and he has to learn but I just don’t want him to deliver first child maybe if it was my 3rd or 4th child. But we can’t sit up here and both be clueless.

I am a retired Army veteran and I have visited this hospital emergency room twice this year, both times in excruciating pain. The Drs and the entire staff was very polite and very helpful. I feel that they went the extra mile to find the cause of my pain. Each time they were able to relieve me of my pain and provided me with the right medication to help me while at home. Having the opportunity to visit a hospital like this one makes me feel proud to have served my country. And for another positive comment, my youngest daughter was born there in 2004 and the service was excellent.

No one here actually cares about you. The tech who did my mammogram was incredibly cold and insensitive. I asked her to call me by my maiden name instead of my married name and she was apparently offended. (I ask this of everyone until I can fix it legally.)The tech bossed me around like I was a bad toddler, if I moved a step when she was moving me around she would say NOOO in scolding. She did not care that she was causing me pain. She kept telling me to relax but she was stressing me out and it would be hard to believe that she didnt know that. I left in tears and I will not go back.

The nurse gave me an attitude and said there were very sick people there and someone would be in there shortly. I said please show me the exit. Then she pointed to it. This is so unprofessional. Please be aware that this is a military hospital, so the staff and doctors change every 3-4 years with a few exceptions. The lead maternity nurse is awesome! I have been in the military for about 8 years now, and have been to several Naval Hospitals, and this one is hands down the worst. Its clean, modern, etc., but the doctors at this hospital dont give a single care about your health. My wife had severe chronic sinusitis for over SIX MONTHS, to the point where it transferred into her ear and she started to lose hearing, and they basically told her Thats a shame, take some Sudafed. Then, when we finally got her a referral from a different clinic altogether, the specialist DENIED SEEING HER. We currently are appealing to try to see if a single soul at this hospital will care about my wifes health. If you have any other options, please choose them before coming here.

No tests were given. They told me whatever she had it was viral, but didn’t prescribe anything. Along with taking her to two urgent cares plus the Naval Hospital nobody took me seriously. I finally took her to a civilian hospital on Sunday and within minutes of arriving and telling the nurse the symptoms and her vomiting they knew what she had. My two year was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. She was so close to be putting into the ICU because of her being so close to being in Ketoacidosis. Because nobody here took me seriously and refused to run test my child could have gone into Diabetic coma and died!!! The wait times were not long, and Dr. Mancusiungaro was one of those guys that the moment he walked in, you knew you were going to be all set, and we surely werent disappointed. We felt like we were given a thorough and correct diagnosis, appropriate tests done, meds given, taken care of in and out relatively quickly.Coming from the Air Force, having no idea at all what to expect from the Navy and leery of recent controversies and reviews, we definitely feel confident about this hospital now, especially the ER, and have no issue at all making the little bit longer drive there for our families needs now and in the future. Despite having one of the corpsman (in training at the time) who later was found mishandling babies, we still had a great experience. Dr. Espinosa is one of the best. I didn’t meet him until after he delivered my first baby because he came in last minute due to an emergency situation. Everyone remained so calm that I didn’t even realize what was happening. My recovery was rough but Dr. Espinosa explained everything very well which always put me at ease. He also gave me his email so I could contact him directly. My second birth was a planned c section. Dr. Espinosa did that as well. The delivery staff was phenomenal. I wish I remembered the names of everyone. The nurses and nurse anesthetist were very calming and also funny! Our stay in the MIU was also great! My recovery from my c section was uneventful and I’m back to normal 6 weeks later. Unfortunately Dr. Espinosa is PCS’ing. He was the best military doctor I’ve ever had- and I’ve had many growing up as an Air Force brat then having a military husband.

I gave birth in January. I went into labor and showed up at the hospital at 3 in the afternoon. They checked me in and said they wouldnt admit me until I was dilated to a 4. They told me to walk around for a couple of hours. I went back at 6 and they said I was having the appropriate timed contractions but wasnt dilated enough yet but they would keep me to see if I would dilate. I sat in the triage room till 3am. Because my cervix was dilating *ovally* and I wasnt effacing they wouldnt emit me. I was dilated 6 cm on one side but only 2cm the other way. They discharged me at 4am and I was back in the hospital at 9 am ready to die because I have been in active labor with contractions every 2 minutes for 45 seconds for almost 24 hours at this point. They checked me in at 11am. I tried to get the epidural and it only worked on one side and it kicked in AFTER I gave birth so I was in the birthing room forever. The anesthesiologist punctured my spinal sack...happens to 1 in 200 women so I got spinal headaches for 2 weeks. (No problems when I had my son in San Diego for the epidural). I started pushing and there was no doctor in the room and one nurse was yelling out the door for a doctor and the other nurse was holding the head of my baby when the doctor finally made in (new doctor due to shift change). He came in JUST in time to catch her and pull her shoulders out. If it wasnt for the two amazing nurses with me who STAYED 2 hours after shift change because I was pushing my baby out I would give this place zero stars if I could.

Have been going to outside physician for quite some time, which was covered on our insurance. After the naval hospital wasnt getting enough patients, they decided to change the insurance plans of veterans so that they could have more patients. This hospital is a 40 minute drive from where I used to live and is now a 2 hour drive. I wait 30 minutes on hold everytime I try to make an appointment while being hung up on several times. After making the appointment and making the trek there, I wait another hour to be seen. After the 15 minutes I spend with the doctor in which they said my foot was bruised, not broken and was prescribed pain medication, I have to wait in a 2 hour pharmacy line. This is not unusual since they have an enlarged amount of patients with the same number of staff. I spent 3-4 hours in total trying to be seen and getting my medication, to only find out from another doctor that my foot was in fact broken. He looked at some x-rays for an unrelated case and discovered the break. He found it instantly. The staff is irritable, the doctors dont want to be there, the lines are ridiculous and the quality of care is absurd. I hope they change this to where I can be seen without driving 2 hours to be seen.

Jimmy The Greek I guess slavery bred me to have them!!!My only relief was found in getting out and taking off those stiff cardboard cutout restrictive dungarees whatevers - I havent been able to run since March 1998 while stationed in London - Needless to say life and work was sooo much better overseas (gives you a chance to see what you are defending from the outside - I think we uphold the Governments neglecting of ourselves no more no less)Now I work at a US Army facility on projects located on the far end of the building away from the engineers overseeing it and my Disabled Vet Self has to hear them complain about walking to my location - the only time I see them is when they are in sweats heading out to run during our lunch break so go figure...I killed 2 services with one review on this one folks...Never give a cup to those who have never given you a spoonful...

If you need a bandage put on a minor cut this is your place. If you need actual competent health care where you will be listened to, your problems (and vitals) properly documented in your chart, correct diagnosis and treatment Id suggest anywhere else. In recent months this place nearly killed me with botched health care (missed a DVT of my femoral artery forcing me to go to ER at OPMC for treament so I didnt die) and suggested I google other issues for answers on what the problem was. This place is a JOKE.

I have given birth twice at NAS JAX, had five surgeries and been seen in the emergency room numerous times ( to many to count) since 1978. During all those visits, I have come across ony two doctors that have been rude and treated me like I was dirt. Don’t think those are bad statistics especially for all those years. That was 22 Year’s of active duty and 17 years of retirement, especially since I was Air Force! One was while I was on active duty and one since I retired. We all have bad days and are rude sometimes. I can not remember the all the doctors I’ve seen, but they have been great. One of the physicians called me while I was at a mandatory school in San Antonio, due to an issue I had. I’m urrently being seen in Family Practice by Dr. Vanessa McNair, she’s great, she listens to my problems and tries her best to help, I wouldn’t trade her in for anything. She spends the time needed to solve my problems and follows up on them to insure I’m getting the treatment needed. Thank you NAS Hospital for treating me so great.

I had my baby here in December . I cane in early in the morning when my water broke, not soon after we had a shift change . I remember my nurses name was dawn and she was amazing you could tell she knew what she was doing she didn’t make me uncomfortable and listened , when I asked for an epidural I remember a younger nurse telling me with an attitude that it doesn’t take the pain away and I’m still going to feel it . She was wrong lol. It was amazing along with the anesthesiologist who administered it , I was able to sleep on and off for about twelve hours of labor thanks to him. After my daughter was born I switched rooms i was exhausted and it did take about a day after I kept asking for a pacifier and the nurse telling me no because it would cause nipple confusion once I finally was given a pacifier I was able to get some rest . The one nurse hat I would say made all the difference was if I remember correctly Adayo (not sure if I spelled that right ) . He was amazing . All the doctors were great as well . I would say the younger nurses ,not all, but may need some more traning they seemed obviously annoyed when you would ask for things . Aside from them my stay was great !

I am truly thankful for the staff at Naval Regional. My father was on the USS Nimitz on September 11, 1980 @ 08:25 when i was brought into this world at this hospital. I cant say anything for the time, but i would like to say that the United States Navy takes care, especially for premature. Of its members, and family. To: The United States Navy. ~Salute!~Travis

Having retired and served my country for a little over 20 years in the medical field... working anywhere from the ER to both inpatient and outpatient...the experience I had with my wife at NAS JAX ER was truly disappointing and insane. The wait time just to be triaged was EXTREMELY absurd and the triage nurse was beyond condescending. Even after informing her that my wife is a nurse and I also have a medical background, there was no need to speak to us in such manner and with a scowl on her face. If you dont like your job, stay home...period. Dont go to work (especially, caring for sick patients) with a piss poor attitude. Patients do not deserve to deal with such attitude and treatment...especially when theyre sick. Theres no way my wife or any patient should endure such treatment. Throughout my 20 year tenure, Ive worked at several MEDDACs and MEDCENs all over the world. NEVER have I experienced such poor service with my family. This facility MUST do better!

As a healtcare professional, I am appalled by the news of those 2 nurses that you employ. Innocent helpless babies were left in the care of these 2 idiots. How can you with a clear conscience have them reassigned and not terminated? That was unprofessional disrespectful and a HIPAA violation. So what happens when the cameras arent rolling? Who advocates for the ones that cant speak out? You are just as guilty as those nurses because its obvious you condone this type of behavior. I hope there is a lawsuit and as much negative publicity that eventually you will do the right thing.

I was seen at the E.R. this morning for an acute problem and had absolutely a 5 star team. Everyone from the nursing team, to the wonderful HMs who took great care of me to the most attentive EMD M.D. I have encountered. I was wheeled back almost immediately from when I handed them my ID card and taken care of with the upmkst compassion. Great team!!!!!! Thank you again NH JAX for the wonderful service!
