The GM and AGM are amazing. Nothing but positive people. The remodel of the gym is sooooo good. From the squat racks to the new indoor training field. I cant wait for it to be 24 hours.

Facility is nice and clean and for the most part the staff is friendly.I’ve had multiple bad experiences with the club manager that has regretfully led to this review. I had the highest tier membership (b/c of promo) which allowed me to bring a guest with me whenever. My guest was harassed to the point of arguing with the club manager because he didn’t want to purchase his own membership and instead wanted to “take advantage of them” as the manager put it, guest passes were something I paid for in my membership. I’ve had multiple billing disputes with extra charges and each time I speak with him I’m met with condescension and wise cracks at my expense. Most recently with “I’m sorry that you can’t pay your bill” which obviously didnt do anything to help this situation. I’ve heard other members complain about this same issue as well.If you can avoid dealing with this specific club manager (you’ll know who he is because he WILL let you know he is and his position) then this club is acceptable. May keep my multi club membership as long as I never have to interact with that gentleman again.

Esporta Fitness ( Formerly know as LA Fitness) received my phone call very well. The gentleman on the phone was extremely polite, helpful and personable.

Will you fix the AC for the group fitness room?If that AC is fixed, the door can be closed and prevent the music from going into the gym area.It will be win-win for everybody.

Started going back to now Esporta a few weeks ago. They seem to be doing a pretty good job with keeping equipment clean, but I always disinfect any equipment before using.

My one star review is not towards the employees but mainly towards the cleanliness of the facility. We are paying a membership for a reason. The equipment have sweat and stains all over. The carpet is gross and a lot of the elliptical machines screen do not work. The locker smells and the sauna is just gross. They have had a sign for more than four weeks now blaming their customers as the reason why the sauna is not in service. REALLY? What happened to benefits for the rest of your members? This place needs better management and a new cleaning crew. Do we need to switch to the $10 per month membership?!?!

Me and my friends have had separate interactions with same guy with long hair. Not a coincidence, and is the only reason i left the 1 star. Just a terrible employee & enjoys his tiny bit of authority he has at his job.

I think this is the best, cleanest L.A. Fitness on this side of the river. I was disappointed. In another one because there was no sauna or hot tub and another because the hot tub looked like it had mold on it. But this one is my favorite!

Very clean and well-maintained equipment with classes and heated pool for swimming laps.

Went in looking at membership options and basically had to find an employee on my own. After a quick tour and having to ask questions, I was quickly brought to the sales desk with little info to go off of. Nice facility, but I just felt like a number.

Payton (employee) took the time to help us with our membership and has extremely patient and a pleasure to work with.

The equipment is broken, dirty, and staff dont really seem to care... I love LA fitness but step up...

Excellent place

One of my favorite gyms in all of Jax- the club is always extremely clean and the staff is incredible- very hard working. A wide variety of equipment as well which I have noticed is constantly being cleaned by staff. During my visit I spoke with manager Shaun who was very insightful and helpful. Will definitely be back.

Nothing bad to say at all about this location best location in jacksonville! I recommend if wanting a gym to join. The staff keeps it clean and sanitary have been even before the pandemic ! The manager is very interactive with the members and always ensures cleanliness and customer service .

I love it, some guy dont respect the sauna 2 persons limit.

Would not let me cancel my membership without charging me one last time. What a joke. I have had my membership with LA Fitness in Dayton, Ohio for 1 year and now I am downsizing trying to cancel my membership in Jacksonville, FL, they had to squeeze one last charge out of me. I live in an apartment complex now and do not need gym membership anymore. I wish they change the 5-day early termination policy! Just wasting another $30 or so since I will not even be here next month!

No sauna...whats the point if I pay I should be allowed to use whatever..

Love this location! The gym is always super clean & staff are always walking the floor disinfecting. It’s good to see the gym taking every precaution to keep people safe during this uneasy time.

This is one of my favorite locations in all of Jacksonville. However, I would like to add, this location needs to add machines for squatting. I’ve been looking at other gyms and they have more sophisticated leg and glute machines. It’s 2020, both men and women want thicker legs and a bigger a**.

Aside from the pandemic, understanding that social distancing needs to take place, amenities are EXTREMELY limited. Racquetball courts and the pool have remained open however the basketball court remains closed along side the sauna.

It seemed like a decent center, I had to use this site today because of my worksite. The place seems clean, but no one was wearing a mask for coVid-19 prevention.

Absolutely God awful experience. Wife and I went in for a new membership. The gentleman who came to deal never once introduced himself. Cliff, as his cards said asked my wife a question and then answered the phone in the middle of her sentence. Refused to engage or even talk to us during the time at his desk. Drummed on the desk, and played with his lunch in his bag while we looked for the information. Then instructed to put all info into our phones and make the payment on the phone and someone would set it up for us later. When asked about the membership and yearly fees he insulting offered us an even more expensive one time rate. We decided to just leave and will literally go anywhere else. On the way out the door he said yall better leave. Classic experience.

They are not fixing the suna since 4 weeks

This location is terrible. Front staff changes frequently and they are unknowledgeable and rude. The fitness classes are few and far between and cancelled many times or have a substitute instructor that is clueless. Many times the a/c is broken in the class fitness room and about 75% of the time the music is broken and instructors have to use their phones. The combination to unlock the weights always changes and the instructors are not aware and they have to walk to the front desk to get THREE new combinations each time. The weight lifting area is not kept clean and organized. People leave 45 lb weights on the bars and I have to struggle to get 1, 2, or 3 45 lb weights off the bars and no one helps as they see me struggling. The benches are often covered with greasy sweat which makes me nauseous. The elliptical machines never work properly and the HR ‘monitors’ on the machines are clearly never right. They go from 70 when it’s clearly way higher or over 200 when it’s also clearly not that high. I joined this location because it was close and convenient to my home and it’s a nationally known name. I am cancelling my membership and looking elsewhere. There were 2 super good fitness class instructors...Maddie was fantastic and I will be sorry to leave her class and the gal who teaches Monday morning power pump...I forget her name right now but she’s great. They should both quit there and go someplace they’d be better appreciated.

Used a guest pass while in town for work. Amazing gym. very clean and loads of equipment. would get a membership if i lived in the area.

Horrible customer service. They will move earth and heaven for you to sign but once you are signed up they won’t do anything to help you. I was recently diagnosed with asthma. Because of Covid I won’t be able to go back to the gym since I’m high risk. I got charged without notice and haven’t even visited the gym once. La fitness Wont refund me. I don’t think it’s fair due to the crisis that we are living. This is a scam. I wouldn’t recommend this gym to anybody, go to baileys. You need to treat your customers as humans not as a transaction. You lost me here as a customer.

I have been visiting this gym between 2 and 4 p.m. every other day for about a week now. The gym is clean, at least 95% of the machines are working with no issues. The mens locker room is in outstanding shape, sauna has been clean both times I went in. As of today I couldnt be happier well done this LA Fitness keep it up.

The gym is nice, clean most of the time, employees will bend the rules for their workouts and listen to music on their cellphones out loud, the bathrooms are kind of nasty, but over all it’s a good facility.The male operations manager however is very unprofessional. When I signed up for my account the GM of the gym was awesome and we made an agreement that I could cancel my membership over the phone. At the time I was a wildland fire fighter with a ton of new jobs out of state lined up. When I made the call to cancel my membership as I had moved out of state the operations manager called me a liar because I didn’t describe the GM correctly... he then he proceeded to give me life advice, and said that I should have come in in person blah blah blah. By this time I was livid, the operations manager of a gym thinks he can give me life advice?!? Really dude, you’re a lower level manager at a gym, get a grip. I have never experienced such unprofessional service. I’m writing this review 2 months later because the guy made such a poor impression. My advice is not to deal with this location if the operations manager is still there.

The childcare is great! its the reason I got a membership here. There are always adults watching the children, not teenagers on cell phones. the room has bright, beautiful kids play equipment, infants have their own separate space in the room.Been going over a year now and the facilities are always very clean, staff recognizes me by name EVERY time, amenities are great, lots of class variety, etc. Their weekend hours arent super convenient, but thats my only complaint. Very reasonable pricing too!

The fact that I need to speak with an operations manager M-F from 9-5 in order to cancel my membership is asinine. When I signed up, they made it seem clear that I could either cancel or pause whenever needed.This is a poor retention method. I suggest LA fitness empowers their customer service to better meet their customers desires by allowing them to cancel accounts when requested, etc.

Great equipment and facilities for the money. Everything is clean and well maintained. If I lived in JAX this would be the place I went!

So I want to start with for the most part I love LA Fitness. I used to only go to the location on lake grey Blvd (which is amazing, but sales people are exceptionally pushy), but this location is missing some of the finesse. The first time I came in, the gyms showers were dirty and smelled like urine. It seemed to get better the rest of the week so it leads me to believe that the weekend crew just didnt care to or doesnt clean the facilities until later Monday morning. Now heres the best part about this location...it is currently 6:20 in the morning and I as well as a few other people are sitting outside waiting for the staff to just SHOW UP. I, like many others utilize this place to get a good work out in the morning AND THEN get ready for work as my job is on this side of town. For the premium that is paid for upfront costs and for monthly dues I dont believe that we are asking for too much. I had better cleaned facilities and staff on hand at Planet Fitness for less money. I have also attached a picture of mystery spots on one of the womens benches in the locker room that has been there since Monday morning. LA Fitness on University in Jacksonville...you deliver a decent product, but please get your stuff together as some people are dependent on your location to be ready for work.

The gym is great, the trainers are great. The only reason that this isnt 5 stars is that the guy who originally signed me and my husband up for memberships signed us up for an invalid plan. He asked us when we would be going to the gym, we said after our 9-5 job . He then signed us up for a plan that only had access from 8-4, but told us that we had access the entire time. Then a few weeks into being members we were asked to sign up for a different plan while they refunded us the original money for the first plan. Well that was over 6 weeks ago and I still dont have a resolution, and they still havent refunded my contract.

Horrible customer service. Member with la fitness for over 4 years. This club forced me to pay sign up fees when I signed up again after 3 years of membership at another club. My card was stolen. I updated it and thought I was up to date but when I went in they said I was behind. I didnt have any cards to replace on the account after they messed up back charging me. I thought I was current and they wouldnt let me workout without driving all the way home. So I cancelled right then and there. Plus their trainers are rude and are bad at training. You have one job. And to cap it off, when my card was stolen and the account was behind and waiting for the replacement, they call multiple times a day even after telling them the situation. Please avoid this club specifically.

So I went in to re-establish my membership and swotch it from my work membership to theirs because its what I use and thought it would benefit both of us. They want to charge me another membership fee of $175 to switch to their plan. So obviously they are only interested in how much money they can accumulate at the University Blvd location.

Great gym. Ive only been during off hours, but tons of equipment and space. As always, Id like more squat racks, but they have plenty of adjustable benches, dumbbells, and tons of machines. See pictures on this page if interested.Never used trainers or any group classes, but for the facility, everything worked, including the small lockers on the floor, all water fountains, etc. Weights were racked properly, front desk staff was friendly, and everything was clean.

Very nice, clean club. Definitely worth the money. Always can get on the machines with no wait. Great cycling classes.

I like it. Especially the group classes and the sauna. The spa tub doesnt work but hopefully theyll get it fixed soon. Its a comfortable inviting atmosphere. Everyone is minding their business so no need to feel intimidated or anything by anyone.

During the tour NOBODY tells you what you can and can’t use during certain times. They just take your money first and then afterwards tell you, oh well sorry someone should have told you... some even said it’s okay to use the personal coach area, then after you use it when no one is using it they say you can’t?? We’re paying for the whole gym not parts and pieces. And apparently your restricted schedule doesn’t matter to them, only time I can box is in the am and no class has told me I could be there while they train. Today was a first and with such demeaning attitude. Unprofessional. And unfair to others with limited time. I’m paying the same price as the people taking the classes? If not move the punching bags into another room!!!They don’t even have cold water at the fountains cause they want you to pay from the vending machines.

It is always really clean. I suggest going early or later. It seems to get really busy from 4-7. I prefer going when there are less people so you can keep your rhythm going and have more access to everything.

Not bad....been a member for years. Biggest problem, wannabe lifters standing in front of mirrors at the weight pile watching me lift.Then ya got the idiots dropping weights after every set. No one regulates this!

Just started working out again after 20 years and about 50 lbs. Visited all the gyms in the area in cluding the YMCA. This place is the best thing going. Indoor pool and hot tub. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. Price is great. For 2 people 150 bucks one time fee then 45 bucks a month. You can do no money down and 65 per month for 2 people but if you are going long term...well you do the math. They gave us a free 7 day trial as well. The only thing I wish they would add is a Boxing room. They have heavy bags but they are in a classroom and are not accessible during classes.

Minus one star for how uncomfortably warm they keep it in the winter.Edit: I just cancelled my membership today and it only took 5 minutes, not days or weeks or months or whatever the urban legends say.

Best gym and best staff. Please come and see their weights are great and the place is really clean. I visited a few other clubs in Atlanta, this was a nice surprise.Loven it!!!!

DO NOT RECOMMEND !! Horrible customer service .. they are not helping customers at risk due to coved 19 ! I cant go there during the pandemic and they are not willing to refund my money what a SCAM, do not waste your money ! go somewhere else .

Let me just tell you now, You better make sure you change your Credit Card number after you cancel with these people, because they will charge you for something you might not even know about.Let me also say that the customer service here is terrible; Why? Well when you want to have a conversation with the staff, youd think you feel welcomed but you dont.That whole 29.99$ Deal is a lie, they will charge you around 80$ when you dont know it.All in all, you better be packing money and read between the lines.

The trainers are great. They keep you entertained whilw working out. The sauna is a relaxing place after your workout.

Good Gym for a good rate. I really wish they had better weights for deadlifting and power lifting type moves (they just have the hex shaped weights), but thats really my only complaint.

Great gym - they are really awesome about working with us to get some volleyball court time! I have been a member here 2.5 years and its a nice gym.

Need to work on their customer service. I was a member back in LA and when moved to Jax continued my membership. I spoke to a manager to finish my membership, got all confirmed but got charged for extra 2 months. The manager on the phone was rude and not helpful, really disappointed.

Standard commercial gym. Clean. Over crowded with the after work crowd hours. Indoor heated pool. Better than average lockerroom. Staff is mostly professional. Most inexpensive gym in the area.

LA Fitness the first day that I visited this gym I was very impressed the gym over all was very clean thats including the rest rooms I was surprised considering the size of the building the employees were extremely knowledgeable and friendly, the surroundings were comfortable and the equipment was up to date a nice place to work out.

I come to Jacksonville twice a year for work,1-2 month stays, and they always work with me on pricing and membership. Gym is always clean, never have to wait for equipment, staff is friendly and helpful. No complaints. Every time Im in town this is my go to gym.

Mostly come for indoor pool. Equipment is clean. Not too crowded when I go. I wish there were more pool lanes.

Its got the basics. I have a few gripes though: 1. The hot tub was broken for 6 months. 2. The stretching/mat area was made into a private training only section. They then put a mat in what is basically a walkway and called it a day. Staff is nice though and it stays reasonable clean.

For the prices they ask, they sure have a lot of stuff. I likely wont use half of it, but at half the cost of my last gym and 4 times as many things to do, its an easy 5 stars.

Despite being the best gym around with respect to number of convienient locations, The big greedy corporate structure has really epsensive plans that dont make sense from a sales perspective. Manyu clubs are better than others with a mixture of broken amenities and equipment = no consistency in cleanliness and product.

Much smaller than the one on Kernan; the pool is cold, and its not very deep at all.In addition; for us who work during the day, we have almost no opportunities to attend classes with the trainers. The classes are all scheduled at working hours and none late evening or early morning just the occasional 6pm.But aside from the negatives the gym is sizable, has a hot tub, and is always spot less.There are also plenty of machines; Ive never had to wait for one.

Great gym! Daycare for the kids while you workout. The staff is great.

The class instructors are knowledgeable and helpful. The pool is the biggest attraction for me.

Used the whirlpool and pool safe sanitary well designed arena.. Will be going back weekly for W/P its good for body

The system is set up to maximize profits- what they sell could just as easily be gasoline or corn flakes. The staff is completely uninterested in anything except sales. If youre not buying, theyre looking at their phones while performing the obligatory fitness evaluation and instruction. You have to pay to join group activities and leagues. Im cancelling my membership because of relocation. They require I snail-mail my cancellation form, apparently hoping Ill forget or theyll extract one more months fee. It really is like L.A. - uncaring, unfeeling and highly superficial.
