Im still having nightmares about this place. If you send your kids here you are a terrible parent. This place made my condition worse. Its meant to make you feel isolated from the world and drug you up so you can never be a normal person again. Even if you act good they will still extend your time. This place is meant to feel like a prison. You have no freedom or rights. This was a dark experience for me and I doubt I will ever recover mentally. But I can say I survived. For my friends still in there, I hope you guys make it out.1 West, never forget.

Like many of you, when I found out that my child would be transferred to Brynn Marr, it was during a time of crisis. It was an emotional time for my family and I as we tried to process the situation, while at the same time ensuring that they would be receiving the best care possible. When I read the other reviews, I was apprehensive due to the largely negative opinions that were present.Everyone’s situation is different, especially as it relates to mental health. This review is not intended to discount anyone else’s experience - positive or negative - however, given the circumstances, I could not have been happier with the treatment that my child received. They were there a total of 8 days, and were discharged clearly in a better place than they were when they arrived. The counseling that they received and skills that they left with will help them as they move forward not only immediately following this stay, but for the rest of their life. Some of the reviews hit on the difficulty with communication, which was both good and bad during our experience. Patients are able to call out twice a week, however can receive calls every day after 6:30pm. This was unclear until a few days into her stay. Also, in split-parent homes, it is difficult for both parents to receive communications/updates, as only one parent typically would be contacted. Geographically, Brynn Marr is practically at the beach, so for many parts of the state it will be a several hour drive. Visitation is only 20 minutes one day per week, however this time can be extended if requested prior (M-F). This would have also been great to know, as it was a 9 hour round trip for a twenty minute visit (still worth it and I would have driven even farther for less time with my child, but still...).The bottom line is that they got what they needed for the reason that they were there, which as a parent is all that I cared about. The other things were mere inconveniences, and, after getting my child back home in such a better place, didn’t seem to matter much.I pray that your loved one receives the care that they need should they be in a situation that requires it, and that you are able to find some comfort during a scary time knowing that Brynn Marr can provide the treatment that they need.

My mom was here, they are not there to help. Just want you to say longer so they can make more money. If I could I’d do the same things to the staff as they did to my mother.

I was a receiving treatment here and some or the staff here are very rude and I was once even told Were not here to be your therapist, were here to put you on medicine by the doctor when I asked to have someone to talk to. Im aware that the staff is busy but this is a mental health facility and her raising her voice at me made me extremely anxious and I almost cried. I was also yelled at by a nurse until I felt the need to harm myself because I was crying. I feel like a lot of the staff members are very cold hearted and could care less about you. They also keep violent people mixed in with people like me who are triggered by violence. Since leaving Ive started having nightmares about brynn mar. Im terrified of reaching out for help in fear of being sent back. In short, they are not here to help you or your loved one, theyre here to make a repeat customer. They put you on all the meds they can so they get money and send you on your way until the next time you need to be hospitalized and repeat the cycle. If you or a loved one need help, find a hospital that will help not hurt you.

My best friend just got back from this establishment, and she got into a fight. The pictures shown on this establishment arent accurate, and they are kept in cells basically, having used a prison style toilet. Ill be talking to NC state higher ups I happen to know ASAP, and theyll be taking care of this matter. This place is placing TEENAGERS with YOUNG CHILDREN in the same rooms they stay in, therefore causing trouble for EVERY age group within. This is disgusting and I will not let this stand. DISGUSTING.

This place is HORRIBLE I was not aware of the type of facility this was. They only want to keep these people drugged up on medication. The staff lied to me about my son having a IVC on him by the county we live. The doctor wanted to keep my son even though I DIDNT AUTHORIZE them to give him medication and I requested he be released. I say parents please read the reviews DONT make the same mistake I made because I choose those in higher positions and allowed my son to go here. Pleeeaassse dont allow your child to go here. Terrible staff and the treatment only consist of giving them unnecessary medication.

I rate this place one star. the reason why is since because that they place teenagers with 5 year olds. they “offer” to protect and help your child but really, staff doesn’t care about what’s going on. even when your sad, or depressed, they still get angry or mad or give you a refusal and make you stay longer. THERE -ARE CAMERAS EVERYWHERE, so don’t think you have privacy to yourself. i was switched from 2E to 1W. 2E isn’t maintained well, and 1W is worse. in 2E there’s kids crying, screaming or getting everyone in trouble. in 1W, there’s fights everyday, every hour, and they make your stay longer so they suck out money from your insurance companies or your parents. also, i went here during may 2018, and right before i left, guess what? THEY HAD LOST MY CLOTHES, MY PHONE AND OTHER BELONGINGS. the night before i left, i had asked them where it went, but no one found it. i even went to the hospital before i went to brynn marr, and it was still gone. ik someone misshaped on something since my phone is still off. after i had left, i kept calling to see where it had went, i repeatedly kept calling, but they didn’t check in there closet, cuz they were to lazy. it’s always places like this where your not allowed to have fun. nun of the techs or staff care whether if your upset or sad. they dont help you with your problems, even if someone is tryin to start something, they won’t care. they’ll just yell at you and mark you for not listening whether if you DID do something or NOT.I RECOMMEND YOU NOT GO HERE
