I love the cemetery. My husband and I bought plots. We paid them off early and heard NOTHING. We did not get a receipt of payment completed or deed. This was 4 months ago. I have called monthly and Marilyn sharply tells me that deeds are the last thing they do and they do not send out receipts when payments are complete. Our family will have to miraculously know who to call and how to prove we have a spot if something were to happen. Each call I had ended with we will get to it. I had another call today and I am fed up. This is a hard thing to do and we want it completed and put away, I suspect if we had MISSED a payment they would be calling us but if you pay early...very disappointed.Oh I did forget...They did call once to upsell us. Money is very important!

Sadly I can not give Evergreen a good review. I have several members of my family there, sense the 1970s and forward. I used to go out there at least twice a year to put flowers down. When my own health started to fail, I could not go and keep an eye on things. Well there is no easy way to say this, but they FAILED my family terribly. Now as of June 2018, it looks like the picture below. I AM DEVASTATED EMOTIONALLY. I will not recommend this place to ANYONE. To lose our family is bad enough, but to see them in a place like this - is the definition of living in the midst of a BROKEN TRUST ON HOLY GROUND. Our family paid a LOT of money for the security of knowing final expenses would be taken care of and in such a nice place to lay to rest. My Daddy was a Truck Driver and my Mama was a Cleaning Lady, so it was a hardship to pay for these final resting places. Very hard to do but they did it. Now look at this mess. I cant help but think we all would have been better off in POTTERS FIELD. - BUYER BEWARE.

If our family could give less than one star we would. Death and dying are a natural part of life. In most cases your local funeral directors are there to help ease your pain by providing comfort and care while planning the burial of your loved one. Unfortunately for our family that was not the case with Evergreen Cemetery on 4535 Main Street, Jacksonville FL. The funeral director Rick Swanson through negligence/fraud caused our family even more grief and suffering in our difficult time. During the contract we chose to have Flag placards placed on our Veteran’s coffin, unfortunately due to poor planning on Mr Swansons part they were not here for our funeral. They did however arrive prior to the casket being buried but were not placed on the casket even though we paid for them prior to the funeral. Mistakes happen and as a family we understand that but the poor communication provided made it even worse. I wish this was the only negligence/fraud we suffered but it was merely the tip of the iceberg. Also during the contract process we discussed and signed up for using a videographer because we have many family members unable to attend due to their age and the fact that we as a nation we are suffering a viral pandemic. This video would help with their closure as they were unable to attend and also provide a keepsake for his widow and daughter as the family pastor gave a wonderful remembrance ceremony on behalf of our loved ones memories. We were charged for this service and it was clearly labeled in our contract to have a videographer for $495.00. On the day of the funeral we noticed no cameras or video recording devices. When we asked Mr Swanson about it the next day he shrugged it off casually that “he just forgot”. We also discussed the poor communication and the failure to meet the contract that he created and again we were met with half apologies and stating again that he just simply forgot. We are reporting this situation to several agencies including the Better Business Bureau, and the Florida Cemetery Cremation and Funeral Association in hopes that another family does not have to suffer negligence/fraud from Mr. Rick Swanson. It should also be noted that we have used this cemetery, not this funeral director, for several generations of family members and have numerous loved ones there as a final resting place and never throughout all the years have we ever suffered this type of negligence/fraud.

I visit this Historic Gem Whenever Im in Jacksonville. I also run in the Halloween 5K that they sponsor. Full of southern charm, I dont think Ive ever seen a better kept cemetery. The community involvement is outstanding. It seems that they are always doing something to embrace The very heart of Jacksonville. This is so much more than a cemetery.

A hidden gem just north of downtown, I was able to find the grave sites of the family that built my 1911 home. Truly amazing to walk through a bit of history. Lovely grounds - great for bike rides in the shade of the beautiful trees surrounding you.

This cemetery is a historic gem! Management keeps the grounds in pristine condition and provides warm, compassionate care to those in need of services. I particularly love the way the cemetery hosts community events, such as the Pumpkin Run.

If at all possible avoid burying a loved one here and opt for a more trusted intelligent ethical company to do business with. They will illegally dump trash and other debris on surrounding properties to avoid paying fees to haul it off and they have been doing so for the longest however it wasnt until the post hurricane Irma aftermath that this became more widespread and common business practice for them. I would hate for services of loved ones in such a difficult time to be interrupted going forward.

After my mother passed away in March my husband and I visited Evergreen Cemetery to see the gravesites of relatives, mainly my grandparents from both sides of the family. Not knowing the location we stopped in the office for direction. Jennifer was so helpful taking the time to look up names and printing off maps so we could find our families. As we drove thru we noticed the signs for cleaning and pressure washing of headstones and monuments. I contacted Jennifer after finding the gravesites of our family members to have them cleaned. She contacted the company and not only did they clean the markers but raked and cut any roots or debris around them so they could get a complete cleaning. What a Superb job they did. Everything looks brand new like they had just been laid to rest. It was so nice to see that so many people are doing the same to keep such a historical cemetery looking its best. We were amazed at how far back some of the monuments are dated as well as the new property that will keep Evergreen expanding for many years to come. Thank you Jennifer!Janice and Kerry Hunter

So you have racist xenophobic people working for you? Laura is clearly intolerant and is too stupid to realize Puerto Ricos part of the US. I have the screenshots if the owner would like to see what he chooses to hire. But according to her he just hangs up on us because hes racist as well. 🤷🏾‍♀️ dont give this place your business until Laura is gone.

They have been recently illegally dumping trash and most recently dumped a pile of debris from post hurricane Irma aftermath on the lawns of homeowners in the back of them instead of taking the appropiate channels to have it removed. They have consistently cut corners and avoided compensating companies that are contracted to haul the debris off...so instead they dump it in front of someones house in hopes the city will collect. Do not bury a loved one here whatsoever. I would hate for my neighbors who are fed up to come dump it back on the plots of the respected however if this problem isnt rectified it will happen.
