Wow! Where do I begin. All I’m gonna say is if your here right now wondering if he’s the right one, don’t hesitate make that appointment King or Queen. Mr. Merland is unbiased, understanding, compassionate, and to mention his exceptional professionalism is outstanding! Mind you this is the first time I ever seek out counseling. His main objective and motive is solution to whatever it’s you may be experiencing. I promise you, you won’t regret it!!

I loss my mother in February and that was the end of my world. I researched therapists in my area and could found any that will relate to me. My wife found Black Male Therapist and I gave it a try. God place people in your life for a reason and my therapist Merland was place there to help me through the toughest time of my life. I’m a former college football player and train MMA and that was the toughest, biggest fight of my life. I want to thank Merland for bringing me through the storm and now it’s sunny again. 👊🏿🙏🏾

Thank you Merland for the work you do it’s really need in our community. As a man of color their is a lot of negative stigma around get the help we need for our mental health. I faced a lot of trauma growing as a Fatherless son and not having the tools to help me cope in a positive way fueled a lot of bad decisions that altered a lot of my life. In seeking ways to heal myself I found therapy to be one of the ways for me to open myself to heal the inner child wounds. As men we were taught that we should stuff our feelings and emotions because we show ourselves to be weak when we do. Thank you for showing me that my vulnerability is my strength and the more I tap into that heart space then transformation is possible.

Merland is an amazing counselor who gets at the heart of his clients’ hearts through thoughtful questions and non-judgemental conversation. His ability to guide his clients through challenging life journeys helps young African American men understand how negative experiences lead to positive outcomes.

Mr. Tony is great! My son was diagnosed with depression and his doctor suggested a therapist. Im glad we found a male therapist who my son could trust and be himself. The sessions I attended were educational and empowering. My son was able to connect and work through his anxiety and he made us both feel comfortable. My son is thriving and helping other teens now. Mr. Tony also checks on his progress even now. Great and personable service and Ive recommended him to friends and family!

My son has a few sessions with Mr. Tony and it was a very comfortable and easy talk for him. I was nice for him to have a chance to talk with a black male who wasnt biased and was willing to hear him out. My son walked away enjoying the interaction and I personally feel that Tony was very professional and he seems to be very passionate about his position in his line of work. The experience was very necessary and more black male therapists/counselors/and encouraging men for our black children need to be available because the quote, It takes a village to raise a child is factual.

Finding the right therapist is critical to one’s healing. As a single mom, I knew I wanted a black male therapist for my son; I felt if my son could see someone who looked like him, he’d feel more comfortable about opening up. I’m big on referrals and recommendations, but I found Merland Tony Baker by googling “Black therapists”. His bio, description of services and list of approaches and methodologies for helping patients were extensive. I was encouraged just reading his bio. I called and left a message and sent an email that Sunday morning; that same afternoon I received a messsge back from Tony; and my son and I had an appointment that same week. The breakthroughs my son made with Tony were life changing!! Tony’s information, thoroughness, sensitivity and honesty were on point! As a single mother raising a black son going through all kinds of emotional changes, we needed something immediately and urgently!! Tony was that something. For the next two months, Tony helped my son emotionally re-position; he helped bring about a change in my son’s attitude, his confidence, his outlook and ultimately his success. Tony provided invaluable information and emotional tools that are applicable, practical and relevant that both my son and I still use.
