Bad experience. My husband had to be at the hospital at 7:30 for surgery. Nothing to eat or drink prior. Did not make it to a room until 5. Nothing was offered to eat. Asked for ice chips due to dry mouth, never received. Had to give tap water to satisfy dryness. Iv bag ran out and after nurse was called, bag was not checked on for more than 10 minutes. I finally had to figure out how to turn off. Asked for pain meds and received 1 1/2 hours later. Would not recommend service.

Do not go to their emergency room. You are wasting your time. Their ER is pointless. You will have difficulty of breathing and dropping O2 sats and they will let you wait in the waiting room. There is no system. They are very disorganized. My mother in law is feeling she is collapsing and the nurse the front desk of the ER would not give her attention. I am a medical professional myself and I try my best to be understanding but they do not care. You wait. What is the point of triaging if you aren’t given the attention that you are supposed to get

My experience at St. Dominics wasn’t bad. I do remember my sweet caring nurse in the ER Chrissle, she deserves a raise or some type of reward because she went above and beyond. She made me feel very comfortable and I didn’t even know her. I also want to thank my nurse assistant from the second floor that I was moved to, her name is Kayla. She really did a great job as well and deserves a raise or reward. The nurse working with her that night was also good I don’t remember her name, Emma was good as well. The doctors that came to talk to me about my condition were very thorough. Thank you all at St. Dominics

Nearly everyone I talk to about hospitals that knows of St. Dominics, say not to go here. I would recommend going here only if you have no other choice. The staff generally seems over worked and exhausted. This made my mother’s experience a bad one with lots of waiting with no one really caring for her. To top it off they messed up and have over billed her and said it’s too late to apply her insurance. When she brought them the insurance information when she was there. I would not go here.

I give the doctors, surgeon and nurses in ICU five stars! They were so attentive to my husband and he left feeling very well taken care of. The surgeon was A+ and we knew we were in good hands. The only complaint I have is the receptionist in the lobby. Ilysia. I got a call from the surgeon asking if he could speak with me, so I started running towards the elevator, not knowing what I was going to hear. Ilysia stopped me, after knowing who I was and that my husband was having surgery, and made me painstakingly wait for her to write out a visitor’s pass and was so rude when I asked her to please hurry. She needs another job - she’s not a people person.

I went to their ER on Christmas Eve in terrible pain from a back injury. The room I was put in was a converted closet. It was nasty. It reminded me more of a public restroom than an hospital room. I was in so much pain I couldnt get in the position lay down. I wanted to sit but the chair in the room looked like someone had urinated in it so I was forced to lean against the bed for over an hour until I was finally taken for x-rays. It was an excruciatingly long wait for the second rate care I received. Then I was billed an insanely high amount. They did not bill my insurance company although they had all my information. Its 4 months later and Im still trying to get them to bill BCBS so I can pay my part. I call at least twice a month and get the same run around. No one takes ownership of the problem. And does anyone ever clean these rooms? If youre in need of care do yourself a favor and go to another hospital.

In both experiences with the doctors and staff there are not enough positive words to use to describe the sincere care, kindness and concern that we received from everyone that we came in contact with. The compassion exudes from each and every individual, from the person that answers the information line to the staff that cleans the rooms to doctors and nurses. I will always be forever grateful and thank God Almighty for such a place as this!! Thank you all for being a facility that people can count on with consistency in kindness, care, compassion and a reflection of Godly inspired people.

I was relieved to find out my brother was sent to St D when he had his stroke. We were there 2 days before realizing St D was not the same hospital that cared for my father years ago. Dr Barnard was the only saving grace that got us through this terrible experience. We were there 15 days- took almost 48 hours to get MRI done because there was no one available to transport him downstairs for the test, we waited on a TEE for over 5 days and the day it was scheduled the cardiologist came in and told us he was rescheduling. NO COMMUNICATION among disciplines- there was not one morning or evening a bedside shift report was completed at our bedside. I have too many examples to list but if you would like specifics- please call me or his wife- we will be glad to share!! If his family had not been with him every day and night it’s hard to imagine the what kind of care he would have received. Very disappointed in St D.

I came in at 13 weeks pregnant with contractions. Absolutely zero monitoring was done on the actual contractions. I was humiliated AND disregarded. I was offered Tylenol and shamed for how many times Ive been pregnant and miscarried. I was seen for approximately 30 seconds after waiting for 3 hours (actively contracting) and discharged with zero treatment or help for the contractions. She checked my uterus for hardening, but was nowhere near where she needed to be and left. Told me I was fine. I waited over an hour for discharge papers while STILL actively contracting. So I now have to go to ANOTHER hospital to receive help after being here for 4+ hours.Update: I went to UMMC. My cervix was short and I was dehydrated. I was treated properly, the contractions stopped and we made moves for a procedure in the future to help the shortening. St. D was ready to send me home to miscarry because it was end of shift and thats disgusting.A catholic hospital not caring about a fetus? Weird.

My wife went in on 11/26/2020. She had a right ankle replacement. Several things went wrong.1) she wasn’t notified about taking a Covid test prior to the operation and the wait pushed everything back. Some of the nurses resented it.2) her oxygen level dropped down into to lower 30’s (she was given dilauded) and her life was at stake. I was never informed by the hospital before or after I picked her up.3) the nurses were unresponsive when she asked for help going to rest room and left her in her bed in her own urine.4) she was released too soon with no instruction on moving around after the surgery. She should have stayed a day longer to get acclimated. The whole experience makes me mad. When I reported this to their patient advocate the answer I got was “we’re sorry”. Really? The rest of us in the world are held to accountability and we get “we’re sorry” from a hospital for giving pitiful after care and not bothering to tell anyone? No. Be careful when going there. Ghetto and rude:Took my Grandmother to the emergency room late Monday night. The wait was okay. They took us to a part of the emergency that was opposite of the usual emergency rooms. This placed looked University Hospital sketchy. When we finally got back, my experience was a lack of communication, loud personal conversations and laughing among the workers, with no regard to the sick patients. I mean loud and personal! Never in my day, had I experienced this in an emergency room with sick ill patients. The ER RN had to tell us that they were admitting my grandmother with no explanation as to why from a doctor. The nurse told us the doctor would talk to us before we were to go to her room. An hour later no doctor and a man entered the room preparing to take her to a room. So I had to stop him and demand a word with a doctor, and still, I ended up talking to a nurse who could not give us the complete reason. Moving to the room, the nurse was nice that night but the toilet was broken and would not flush. They just placed a doctors name on my grandmothers chart whom had left the hospital hours ago and never set foot to look at my grandmother. The next day I called to get an update on my grandmother and the nurse tried to brush me off with as little info so that she would not have to read the chart. She did this twice. I get a two ring call from the case worker, so I missed the call. This is where I was left on line for 8 minutes until I hung up and called the number of the case worker. She told me she was trying to get information about my grandmother but she called my sibling instead and received it. Then TOLD me, my sibling would be the primary caller and I would in turn be the secondary caller. No authorization from me or my grandmother. This case worker doesn’t know my sibling and motives and makes decisions with out the approval of the patient and primary person. This experience is sad, because I have always known St. Dominic’s to be a well respected hospital. I had my children there, and my grandmother has been treated here before as well. With the experience I and my grandmother received and the new change in management or ownership makes me question this hospitals reputation:St. Dominic’s name. No respect and ghetto.

She recognized my mother was a fall threat before anyone else. She swooped over and helped her to a potty seat then turned to Mamas mess of a bed, snapped those sheets to perfection, put the tinkle pads into place, helped Mama perfectly back into bed. She told me how to position her at the perfect angle, including her feet position so she didn’t scrunch down to the bottom. Whatever they pay you Ms. Ollie, it’s not near enough. My 32 year old son was taken to ER 7/15/17 around 12:30 a.m., they didnt get out of the ER until 6:00 a.m.! He had pain in his abdomen that brought him to his knees, and for that to happen to him, something serious is going on! Hes a veteran, and a strong man! The ER was found to to be horribly filthy. Unsatisfactory conditions! The nurse removed his IV and sat the the bloody needle on the bed, and then tossed it in the trash! The employees were over heard using profanity in front of patients! This hospital is a disgrace!

Arrived at the ER with chest pains, a rising BP and seriously light headed after blacking out. Mind you, Im not from here and am in town on a visit so I could not see a PCP. Dr. Eric Burger came into my room , sat in a chair and proceeded to cross his legs with feet propped and tell me nothing was wrong with me at all even after me explaining my medical history. He never even touched me or checked my vitals again. No testing, nothing... said i had GERD(never in life) and wrote an antacid that I would not even accept. The staff was rude to other patients, unprofessional and lazy as hell. I will be calling the state as of Monday morning. This is the worst ER experience I have ever had.

Went to the ER for trouble sleeping, heart rate kept going up when lying flat, having extreme anxiety. ER doc was very rude and short, told me nothing could be done because anxiety meds are addictive. No one cared to interpret my EKG lead, my urine was cloudy no one evaluated it, and my blood pressure kept changing, but surely I will be sent a bill for nothing to be done

Took my mom to the Emergency Room at 1 pm on September 30, 2017. The ER was very clean and the staff was very professional. We would give the ER 4.5 stars. They noticed her breathing difficulties immediately as we entered the ER and we never had to sit in the waiting room. Once it was determined she needed to be admitted, she was admitted to the 5th floor and she was taken to a room around 6 pm. After being in that room for 30 minutes, we had yet to see anyone who worked on that wing, so I walked down to the nurses desk. There was one nurse behind the nurses desk and she snapped at me that they were about to start shift change and she would tell whomever was going to be our nurse to hurry down there as soon as possible. We sat there for over 2 1/2 hours before anyone working on that wing ever set foot in her room. The next morning, she seemed to be breathing a little better and needed somethings from home, I left at 1 pm to go home (about 20 minutes away) to gather our stuff for an in-patient stay. I made sure the nurses had my phone number and knew I was leaving for a few hours. I called my mom about 4 pm to let her know I was about to stop and get us something to eat and head that way. (The patients food at this hospital is worse than most, which is sad because they have serve a nice lunch in their brand new cafeteria.) She told me something was wrong, she was feeling really bad, so I hurried. Before I could get there, her nurse called me and told me not to panic, but they had to admit her to ICU because she just needed more attention than they could give her on the floor. I found out 2 days later that they had not been watching the monitor from the nurses desk and her heart rate had gradually risen to 234 while I was gone and she nearly died. They had to shock her heart back into a normal beat. She stayed in ICU for 3 days, she is underweight, and there were times she woke up hungry and they had sent her meal back because she was asleep, and they couldnt get her anything to replace it except for some soup. She lost 5 pounds while we were there. I thank God for getting us out of that place alive!!

I was admitted through er after passing out at work. Everyone from check in to checkout was great. Friendly and knowledgeable. My only complaint was dietary . There were things left off or added to each meal such as my coffee at breakfast. Although they did correct the error it would take an hour or so then ice cold. I want to thank all staff on the 4th floor for all you did for me.

Id give it a lower rating than 1 if possible. Many of the nurses were very foul-mouthed (not in the room, but easily heard from the hallway), jaded, and seemed much more interested in what was happening on their phones than in caring for the patients. Some of the male workers could be heard flirting with female workers (including married workers) out in the hallways as well. Also, there was a cockroach in the bathroom. Not the patient bathroom, or some hallway bathroom, but one in the main lobby. Seems cleanly, right?

Worst ER experience ever!!!! The service sucked. Never again! 😡😡😡 Upon arrival in the ER for an asthma attack, I was given a breathing treatment in triage which I needed. Once I was placed in a ER room the nurse proceeded to order other unnecessary tests before I ever saw the doctor. Calling for an EKG, portable a chest X-ray, bloodwork and a IV line. None of which were needed for a asthma attack. When my husband requested he speak to the doctor before any extra tests were done the nurse left in a huff and never returned. An 1 1/2 later my hubby went in search of a doctor himself. The doctor looked at my chart, asked me if I had a rescue inhaler then went to write a prescription only never to return. After waiting another 1/2 hour for someone to come back to the room we decided to leave. No nurse, no doctor, no prescription. It seems we upset their applecart by questioning all the additional and costly tests. I will never seek service there again! #er #stdom #medical #hospital #healthcare

This has been the worst experience. My grandfather has been at St Dominic Hospital for 7 days now and we have had zero help. The staff has neglected to clean/change him, will keep him flat on his back for days (we have to turn him on his side), the PT team will come in look at him walk out and never come back, they neglect to do respiratory tests on him, they have left used materials in his bed by his head, leave the bed rails down and just leave the room, we have seen one doctor one time who did not have any information for us (that was days ago). He has been running 103 fever and a deep cough for three days and no one cares to figure out what is going on. We have to keep a family member with him 24/7 because it is so clear this hospital cannot be trusted. Not to mention he has dementia and heart failure. He can not speak up for himself so Who Knows how he would be treated if we were not there with him documenting everything.

Upon my recent visit to St. Dominic Hospital, the staff appears to be unorganized, poor and very slow service. My father was brought into the emergency room, and they sent him to medical triage to record his vitals, ct scan, and lab was ordered, and then they brought him back to the waiting area, where we waited for approximately 2+ hours. My dad wasnt in intense pain and etc.... then 0400 AM in the morning; he was finally assigned a room. No results was shared from the testing that had been done.

I have several health issues and have spent more than my fair share in hospitals. Never have I received such competent care by such a compassionate staff. Everyone knew their job and did it with certainty, confidence, and knowledge. The surgery prep area was incomparable. Dr. Colley and his operating team were so very well trained, yet made me feel amazingly comfortable in such a sterile setting. The hospital was the cleanest I have ever been in, from the entrance to the operating room. How refreshing to be in a hospital so on top of its game, yet so aware that God is part of the healing process. What a blessing to have St. Dominics in the state of Mississippi!

This is absolutely the worst hospital in the entire Jackson area. The staff here always laugh and play ! I have been here for years and every time I come it takes over 2 hours just to be seen! When you ask for any kind of pain medication, it takes them about 3+hours to get any ! I have seen a woman who was in a car weak with a brace on her neck laying on a stretcher in pain with some paramedics right by her side saying that ST.DOMINIC IS WRONG FOR THIER SERVICES !! I will surely contact the head of St. Dominic this is RIDICULOUS !

I have had My MOM at ER 3 Times within past week. They finally Admitted her Friday, BUT it seems NOBODY LISTENS! She & I have explained time & time AGAIN to EACH PERSON MORE than ONCE that She has been living on nothing but Broth & liquid for a month & she cant go on like this!! Well, they have NOT found out the problem causing her difficulty swallowing, & SHE is NOT able to eat there, BUT was Told she SHOULD be Able to Eat soft foods. So, they are planning to Discharge her when Shes NOT Improved at all. I Used to Believe in St. dominics , but I have realized that they have WENT DOWN so BADLY in Appearance, Cleanliness, Poor Equipment, & Most Importantly RUDE, UNCARING DOCTORS & NURSES that ARE SO LACKING IN COMPASSION & TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!!

If you are ill, get out of jackson. The doctors here are murderers, and they will be quick to murder your family members too. Someone needs to investigate them. Someone needs to stop them. They are incompetent and uneducated, and they are only interested in your money. Do not go here. Get out of the state to find reasonable health care.
