A horrifying experience. There was only 1 sitter that handled her job professionally.Now, The “nightmare sitter”> the first couple of hours she was on duty she searched for the TV remote. She kept on and on and started searching my mother’s home for the remote. I had removed it from the room because the night before she had the TV so loud and on a program that was not acceptable —profanity et al and there my mom was dying. No respect for the patient...NONE. Anyway she kept looking for tv remote So I gave it to her and told her to keep it on closed caption because I didn’t want my mother’s last hours to be filled with the incessant blaring noise from the Television. She actually neglected my mother worrying about finding that remote —so now the worst offense >she Fell asleep and allowed my mother’s oxygen tank to completely empty. At 3:00 AM I entered my mother’s bedroom to find her gasping for air and drenched in sweat from severe pain. There she lay-her eyes wide open with a horrified expression on her face. The sitter was snoring in a rocking chair beside her —the sitter had her legs propped upon my mother’s Rolator and my mother’s blanket over her, pulled Snugly up to her chin She had the rocking chairrockers wedged in to the wall. The paint was no longer visible and the sheet rock crumbled into the floor where the rockers dug in the wall.My daughter and I worked quickly to stabilize my mother —we connected oxygen, administered her pain medicine and after her vital signs returned to her baseline we changed her clothes and bed linen. All this time the sitter remained asleep and still snoring. My mother missed 2 scheduled doses of pain medication as well as 2 doses of Ativan. She was without her comfort meds for 5 hrs. She was scheduled to receive those medications around the clock.We finally got the sitter up and asked her to leave. She had no explanation, nor did she offer a simple apology. My poor dying Mother. I feel so terrible trusting that company. These were her last hours on this earth. I did complain about the sitter and expected another sitter the next night —they were sending the same sitter and said oh it’s ok we talked to her about what happened and re oriented her. I said NO THaNK YOU! I could go on and on.....

The staff they send to our home is great. However, they Do Not ever have back up if that person cannot come as scheduled. They have only showed up once for evening shift in 6 weeks. Scheduled for one evening a week. It is very frustrating for me, since I still must work part time while I care for my 97 year old mother. I hope they can add staffing to cover the patients they sign up for this service.
