Walking into Smith Allergy is like walking into the DMV to renew a liscernse. I somehow get the sense that everyone feels angry that I am there in the first place. Reception ignores my questions, refuses to talk about billing, and charged interest on bill and sent my bill to a debt collection agency without ever actually calling me. My address had changed. Avoid like the plague.

Is zero stars possible? Cant be seen since I have a high deductible plan and billing previewed my insurance prior to my appt. They called a day before to notify me that my charges would most likely exceed $1000 and that I needed to pay upfront (and this is before even being seen to discuss my issues). My guess is that its easier to attempt to fleece an insurance company if youre lucky enough to have co-pays (post-visit) than a patient if you arent that fortunate. When I asked for a consult, I was told (after being placed on hold for a discussion...not sure why...has no one requested that before?) I was told that would it be $364 for an office visit. I am unsure if my insurance carrier would consider this reasonable...if not, would I be reimbursed? Hmmm PS It is interesting that others would have you disregard bad ratings. Everyone has a story to tell and just because yours is different, that doesnt invalidate someone elses experience.PS In response to your reply, as it is coming 4 months since I wrote this review, I can only assume that youre attempting to clean up your messes.That seems appropriate due to your many 1 star reviews. Either way, I found an allergist in Ithaca months ago so Im good. Also, I hope the work environment has improved there...former employees rated Smith Allergy a 2.9. Ouch!

Im told that Dr. Smith is the best, but each time Ive been at the office and/or called to make an appointment or to ask a billing question, I have felt barely tolerated. Every person Ive interacted with has been rude in some way. Medical information provided seems rote, and questions are answered with repetition of what has already been said without nuance or tailoring to the individual. Covid safety standards are also sup-par (temperature taken after being checked in and waiting in a full waiting room for fifteen minutes). During my first visit, I was required to take my mask off in order to have my photo taken for office records. Services are also extremely expensive, even with good insurance. I feel so yucky after each interaction with this office, and uncomfortable with Covid safety precautions, that Im looking for a different allergist to continue care. Im impressed that some people find this clinic friendly and caring. I havent seen any sign of that being possible here, and Im very open to different interpretations of behavior.

Is Dr. Chris Smith a real doctor ? His practice is nothing but a JOKE !

Great group of people! Honestly, I felt compelled to rate it because of the inaccurate 1 star rating someone else gave it. Ive had zero issues with anyone there, and in fact have always felt comfortable whenever I go.

Outstanding team: up to date treatments, timely appointments, lots of teaching and compassion...this is about as ideal as you can get!

Do not listen to the one star reviews on here. I’ve been bringing my two sons and myself here for years and have been helped tremendously by this office.

The entire staff was fantastic and supportive in my journey to figuring out my allergies.

Receptionist Lisa is rude, she just hangs up phone if she doesnt hear you speaking, doctors are great
