I can only recommend this great school. My son attended for almost 4 years. He started as a little boy who barely spoke few words and through out the years with the help of Ms. Sally and other teachers grew to be a smart, confident, caring boy ready to explore the world. I liked the school from beginning when I was searching for Montessori school. Hinder Them Not is small with home like environment while still big enough for all the wonderful works for kids, that are super clean and organized. School offers to kids outdoor space with extras like little garden that they could help care for, fruit trees that kids could pick fruit from, mud station or large sand box.School organized shared healthy snack program to allow kids eating and be exposed to only fruits and vegetables. Popcorn popped right in school was always a special treat for kids birthdays :)Throughout the year there were two singing concerts that Ms. Sally prepared with kids and field trips (pumpkin picking, animal farm, Science center) that were a fun way for kids as well as parents to meet outside the school.Whenever I had questions about my sons progress or I was concerned about something Ms. Sally was very responsive and helpful to sort things out.My son liked the school a lot and left as kindergartner who knows to read well, write (also cursives), do the math, likes to explore and learn thanks to great work of Ms. Sally and all teachers.

My son attended Hinder them not this past year, and I could not be happier. I really feel that he thrived in this environment, and learned some valuable life lessons through his “work.” One of my favorites: The peace flower:) If ever I had any questions, miss sally would be in touch and we would communicate openly . What a wonderful opportunity for my son to be to have experienced Hinder them not!

My two children attended “Hinder them not” in person during the whole pandemic and I could not have been any happier with that choice. My children learned so many different things! My daughter, who was In kindergarten, went from not being able to read to actually reading on her own and understanding what she was reading. She also learned the states and their capitals, all the presidents, math, geography, and many other things. Above all, I felt that my children were safe, since it’s a small school. I wish I would have started my children there from the beginning and not had tried so many other schools before.

Generally I never right any reviews but Hinder them not is the best school I came across throughout my life. Here children grow and prosper entire their academic career. I think the policies, values, rules, ethics and each small detailing which were taught to the kids in their childhood initial years remain with them forever. And HTM is the answer for all these things mentioned above. Miss Sally is the best teacher who runs the organization and she personally looks upon each students growth. Montessori concept is to groom a child overall to make them independent. Here my daughter learnt obtaining healthy food habits and focusing on nutritious food and gave up sugar completely. They learnt here basic small things like cutting fruits, veggies, ironing, gardening, zipping up her jackets , folding clothes, putting clothes by herself and many more practical basic knowledge apart from her studies. My daughter at 6 is good in her Mathematics- she can count numbers and addition on her head, English reading also she tries different books by herself. Miss Sally personally focus on each kids reading skills.. have the best curriculum across-the entire year which keeps children busy and fun learning and motivating kids to gain more and more knowledge. They have few field trips across the year in which they take childrens to science museum, farms, fields, animal shelter etc accompanied by parents too. Birthday celebration here is more of a learning and cherishing at the same time. We definitely gonna miss the school and Miss Sally. I wish they could have run the higher classes as well and we can send my daughter to her few more years. She went to hinder them not 3+ years. I highly recommend this school and you must definitely give it a try school tour atleast before giving up. My best wishes for the school and Miss Sally ❤

Our child has studied in the school for last 2.5 years. He was barely 3 when he joined. The Montessori style has brought about Independence and confidence in our child. What we love about the school is the emphasis on healthy eating and nutrition. The kids eat every day fresh fruits and veggies as snacks. Birthdays are even special. The children show their pictures from birth and go around the sun to signify a each year!We see him bring home such wonderful work like beautiful paintings, tracing, phases of moon etc. He knows all the presidents of United States. Were very thankful to the school for helping him reach his potential and give him the space to grow. Highly recommend the school. Special mention about Ms.Sally whos been running the school for over 20 years. Thank you again!

Hinder them not does not welcome parents nor the kids, it only welcomes the money & fruits (pre-Covid times) that come with new admissions. Here opinions, questions or concerns are not welcome. I was told to keep my children at home when I asked about their cleaning procedures just before COVID -19 had everything shut down. They are not scared of COVID! is what we are told. The teachers are not “allowed” to speak to any parents, and often tell on each other when a teacher is kind enough to talk to any parents. Imagine what exactly goes on inside that needs so much coverup? Also if the adult teachers are so controlled – what happens to the kids? The teachers keep changing too, every second month a new teacher is hired because someone else “wasn’t a good fit”.Parents are bullied in the name of policies (which keep changing as per Ms. Sally’s liking and not necessarily for the benefit of the children). My sincere review: go to a school which is transparent and where you can talk to any teachers at anytime of the day and see your kids too. Go to a school which updates you on your child’s daily activities and not just 1-2 photos at the end of the week in a power point presentation format which is called a “video”. Go to a school that would love to talk to you rather than squirm at the thought that a parent is going to ask for a child’s report.10/29/2020: Ms. Sally, if my review is so untrue, you have nothing to worry about. If thats the case, please do not send me emails to take the review down.Good luck to you too.11/16/2020: Ms. Sally, your latest email is more of a threat to take down my review rather than humor like you said you took my review as.Thanks again.5/4/2021 : Ms. Sally, please stop emailing me to take my review down.

Nurturing environment, Discipline, Good Policies, Great learning experience for the little Ones with variety of activities and Celebrations on all the occasions providing the historical significance of the Day in this school are some of the key players for development of kids. Principal shares the Videos and Photos of the kids often which is really a great way of keeping the parents aware of their childs day in the school. Pumpkin picking, Thanks giving , Valentines Day and many more are really fun filled and great opportunities offered by the school for developing social skills in children. Before our son started at this school, we asked the director of this school a very specific question. We asked specifically about the key difference that “Hinder Them Not” will make to our kid’s learning, compared to other Play/Montessori schools? We were told that the school’s utmost focus is on boosting self-confidence, awareness, independence and creative learning in the students. Two school years later, we are pleased to share that every single word in the statement above stands so true. We notice all these attributes in the behavior as well as upbringing of our child. The best of all is that every morning, our son is so happy and excited to go to the school. Overall, we are extremely satisfied with our decision to provide such a wonderful opportunity/environment to our child. In addition, being a first time parent, we received timely and actionable guidance on parenting our child at home. It made a huge difference in building a well-rounded environment for our child close to his true self. We are so impressed with the faculty that we have no second thoughts on sending our second child to the same school.

My daughter went here for less than 6 months and I could see a lot good progress in her. Due to my job change I had to leave New Jersey and I have realized that there is no school as good as this one. Ms Sally and team you are the best and god bless you all! I cannot say enough about what an incredible school this is. When I tell my friends about where my daughter goes to school, I always find myself gushing and feeling so grateful that I was able to find such a gem. (No one else seems to talk about their childs school with the same enthusiasm and conviction!) This school is as true to Montessori as they come -- it is a paradigm that others should follow. They are totally committed to helping children become their best selves -- not just academically, but socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually. This shows in everything from their wonderful activities, works and lessons, to their model snack program. The teachers are so completely and utterly dedicated to the children -- this is truly a rare thing to find, and it gives me great comfort knowing that I send my daughter to a place where she is so cherished and respected. The children themselves are also so sweet and caring with each other, like they are all part of a family. Hinder them not has truly set the bar on what a preschool/kindergarten should be. I couldnt ask for a better experience for my child and as a parent.

My wife and I have been involved with this school since the year 2004. Three of my four kids have graduated from the Kindergarten program in this school; they have each attended four years. We have grown as parents with the director of the school. Our kids have a great sense of accomplishment, great self-esteem and the power of concentration, which is key in a classroom outside of the Montessori practice (public school after kindergarten). Needless to say this gives my kids the opportunity to do better in a public school setting, because they understand how to pay attention and how to do the right thing. We moved to a town about 45 minutes away from the school during the time that my second child was attending the school. We felt that it would be best to find another school which had a Montessori program closer to our new home. In this endeavor we visited many locations and could not find the same Structure which is key to this school. The Structure of this school is key; this is not a Daycare it is a “School” with rules which are followed by everyone. We then realized the value of this school and how we had found what we were looking for many years ago. Our third child just graduated from Kindergarten form this school, and my fourth child will hopefully start attending as soon as he is the right age. We took home many of the ideas and teachings from this school and our kids are that much better off. My kids are all at the top of their class, they are the best readers of their class, and they understand many very complex concepts very easily. Our family has been blessed and much better off for having found this school at the right time. We are very thankful to the director of the school for her years of dedication to the school and recommend this school without any hesitation to anyone that is looking for the best early education for their child.

My son is two years and five months old. I visited many day cares and schools for my son as I was starting to go back to work. “Hinder Them Not” Montessori School was the absolute best choice that we made. My son enjoys himself, he has the biggest smile when I go to pick him up which tells me that he is comfortable and happy to be at that school. My son is very specific and particular, so when I see that smile I know he is truly happy and enjoyed himself. Even though my son just started school, I already see positive changes in him. He already learned new words and new actions. The director, Ms Sally, has kept in touch with me since my son has started school and is always willing to help me, encourage me, and support me in my son’s transition into the school. She is a experienced professional who relates to kids right away and understands them. My son got along with her as soon as he met her! It isn’t easy when it comes to leaving your kids with people who you don’t know, but “Hinder Them Not” has made the decision a lot easier. Visiting them and seeing how good and patient they are with the kids and just the way their day is spent, makes me feel comfortable and as a mother, that is all I could ask for in a school. I would recommend all parents to give “Hinder Them Not” a chance. You will not regret this choice! It was the best decision I made for my son.

My 4-year old twins are having such a rich experience at Iselin Montessori School. They do influence me at home because they seem to care so much for things to be done the Montessori Way. From the way they handle their toys to how they eat dinner. James initiated the peace flower conflict resolution method at home. Now we use it all the time. Anna replicated an art area in the play room and cares so much for her work. When we go to the supermarket they show such an interest in choosing fruit and vegetables. They want to squeeze their own oranges, wash and eat their apples, cut their carrots and eat them. I enrolled my daughter in Iselin Montessori in December of 2013. This was to be her first school experience, so I originally started her off as a part time student. Within the first week, she was so happy and enjoying school so much that I decided to have her go full time. I was very impressed with the tour of the school to begin with, and that the director took the time to explain the curriculum for me, addressing any concerns I may have with the faith based curriculum (I am Jewish, and she wanted to be sure it was not going to pose a problem). I am happy to say that my daughter is thriving in this school. We are noticing a very positive change in her behavior at home and her interactions with people since she started. I am equally impressed with the experience of the teachers and caregivers at this school. My son attended Rainbow Academy, where all of the teachers were fresh-out-of-college, and not equipped with the life skills to handle young kids. A degree in early childhood education doesnt equal the experience needed to handle kids. The director herself told me that she does not hire brand new teachers, and that was a relief to me. Also impressive is the schools policy regarding sick children. My daughter recently vomited at school and was sent home, and I was told point blank that she could not return to school for 24 hours after vomiting has ceased without medication. It was an inconvenience for me, but such a policy ensures that other children dont get sick. I would urge anyone interested in this school to go for a tour, I think its great and wishit was around when my son was preschool age.

The staff is always keeping me updated with my sons accomplishments which is what i love. The school only allows healthy food as well which is a big plus as to other school do not care what kids eat. The school teaches the students how to distribute snacks to their peers which teaches them about sharing. Since my son has been going to this school he has learned to eat varieties of fruits and vegetables(might i add that he used to be the pickiest eater on the block). I plan on red shirting my son another year in kindergarten(specifically at montessori school) until he is socially ready to attend first grade . I have been an educator for 15 years. My daughter has been a student at this school for three years and will be in Kindergarten in September. Id like to tell you why I did not hesitate in registering her right away.My son attended Kindergarten at Hinder Them Not last year. His experience went beyond my expectations regarding his learning, reading skills, and most of all, his excitement for learning. He benefitted from the Montessori education and the way it prepared him to be proactive about his learning. He is now in first grade. He arrives home from school and promptly does his homework without any request from me. He takes responsibility for his work and takes great pride in his special projects. The Montessori approach to reading has truly impressed me. Ms Sally is an expert in this. My son was eager to learn how to read and because the program sets the students up for success, his confidence has grown tremendously. He feels able to learn and accomplish ANYTHING.He is now in 1st grade but his reading is on a 5th grade reading level and he writes very well. He answers comprehension questions about what hes reading and his vocabulary is exploding.I strongly believe that my child gained confidence, self-control, and motivation to learn through his Montessori School experience. The experience of attending HINDER THEM NOT will be a lifelong benefit, particularly because of the culmination of study on Kindergarten.I strongly believe that the investment of quality early childhood education is crucial for lifelong success. Many parents focus on college preparation - which is important - but the most sensitive time in a childs education is the pre-school and Kindergarten years because it determines their approach to learning for years to come.I HIGHLY recommend this Montessori program. In fact, we commute daily just to bring our daughter to this school. She is worth it!DECEMBER 18, 2014My daughter has now been in the Kindergarten program for four months. She is reading above grade level, adding, and MULTIPLYING! She is confident, curious, and handles an expanded vocabulary with great ease. Her knowledge of animals, seasons, shapes, plants, and geography is exploding - no doubt due to the years spent at this school. The curriculum is well rounded and organized in such a way that allows students full exploration and high rates of retention. Im continually amazed by the dedication and expertise of the teachers at this school! Im so lucky to have found Ms. Sally and her wonderful classroom!

When we started our search for a good respectable school September 2013, we visited many schools in the area. Each school had some kind of flaw. Whether it be not clean with dirty floor, table, etc. Or it would be that lunch being served was not as nutritional. As a result, we would decide to not enroll our son to those school as hygiene and nutrition is important for the child’s health. Our son has been attending Hinder them not / Iselin Montessori School for the last three years. We have to say that it is amazing to observe how he has flourished as a young boy and the choices he makes for himself. At school he learns about many different kinds of topics such as history, geography, astronomy, science, math, nutrition (vegetables, fruits, etc.), etc. When he comes home and talks about the day at school and what he learned whether it was about all the presidents, all the planets in the universe, all the countries on earth, about Native Americans, or different kinds fruits and vegetables. If we give him a choice of candy, sugar cookie or fruit (apple, peach, banana, grape, etc.) he would select any kind of fruit. This makes us very pleased because he is making a healthy choice. At school he is encouraged to eat healthy and the choices he makes is reflected on his learning. As an example, when I make coffee for myself and he happens to see me take a spoon full of sugar, he would stop me and say that I should not put it in my coffee because it is not good for you.Hinder them not / Iselin Montessori School is a very hygienic school. The staff keeps the school clean so that children do not catch any kind of sickness by attending the school. If a student is sick they are encouraged to stay at home until the student is feeling better. If the student fell sick at school, the material that he/she was working on is immediately taken off the shelf, to prevent other students from catching the sickness.I am very pleased with Hinder them not / Iselin Montessori School and the staff because everyone goes above and beyond to attend to each child and help flourish their mind. In addition, the teaching of nutritional choices for the children is very important at this day and age and should begin early. As a result, I would request and encourage for the school to continue providing healthy snacks to children as it is important for their health and growth.

Update -- 2013To every parent who reads the reviews about this school. Please note that I was the first to post a review and notice how many others posted immediately after my own. I received a letter from the director of the school a few months after writing this - asking me to take down my comment. The next day I logged into my posting and then realized that several other parents chimed in to give their support. As this is a free country, I am within my right to write about my experience and my childs. That said, I am very glad that I took my daughter to another private school - she is doing quite well.As this was our daughters first experience in pre-school, it was natural that she would get sick all the time. What was not natural, was the directors attitude and reaction when we told her we decided to take our child elsewhere. I actually still saved her letter and voice-mail message on my husbands phone with her comments. For proprieties sake, Ive decided its not worth posting it publicly. Had we not had that dreadful conversation with her, then honestly, I would not have thought that something was wrong. And because of her attitude, and her refusal to give me a receipt for the tuition I had already paid, I chose not to take down this posting and to also update my posting with these comments. Be the advocate for your child - make sure you ask all the right questions and pay attention to subtle messages - as this was our first child, and first experience -- we certainly learned our lesson well.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------When we first went there, my husband I were thrilled to find a nice preschool for our daughter. But, this was her first time at school, and she was constantly getting sick. Every time she got better, she would go back to school and get sick again. After 2.5 months, 4 bacterial infections and several colds, 2 weeks of missed days later, we decided to take her out. What surprised us was how the director acted when we told her our daughter would be going to another school. We called her and explained that we really like the school except our child keeps getting sick and we decided to switch schools. During our phone conversation she called us liars (because we said we loved the school) and we were rude to her by telling people that her school made our daughter sick (we never did nor implied as such to her) and pulling our daughter out of the school. I explained that we never said such things, we know that children get sick and ours just seemed to keep getting sick when she got back to school. I also said that we are within our rights to switch schools as her parents and then she hung up the phone! All I could think of was OMG...how could this sweet, lovely person be so polar opposite, confrontational and crazy?2 days later we picked up our daughters sleeping bag and she refused to give us a partial receipt for the month we paid. She told us to go to our accountant since we had her Tax Id number and she was within her right not to give us the receipt. She continued on that we were being rude and disrespectful to her..My husband said, she was rude for hanging up the phone - to which she responded then that she had to...She did however take the time to write a long winded letter (included in the sleeping bag) about how rude we were to her and to proceeded to tell us that we were being unfair in saying that our child got sick at her school. Needless to say that I am glad my daughter is no longer in her care as we realized that the director has a few loose screws. I missed a sign that something was wrong during a parent teacher night - when she mentioned that she teaches death to the children. Death...at least 2 parents kept saying that their 5 year olds would come home asking questions about death. I should have listened to my gut feeling then that something was wrong.

Sending our children to Hinder Them Not Montessori School has been an enriching experience not only for our children but also for us as parents. We have learned to be better and more attentive parents through our experience at the school. Ms. Sally and the teachers at Hinder Them Not have a true commitment to the children. My older child had attended the school for 3 years, including kindergarten, and is now in 4th grade in public school and is doing great. He has grown into such an intelligent, confident, caring and thoughtful young man. His love of learning that was nurtured at Hinder Them Not has stayed with him and he continues to thrive and is always excited to learn. Ms. Sally has created such a well thought out and stimulating environment where the children are truly able to grasp the concepts of this great big world in a very simple way. As well, the teachers are nurturing and caring and treat each child as an individual. My younger child is currently in his 4th year at Hinder Them Not, in kindergarten. He enjoys learning & is progressing tremendously with his reading & math skills. As well, the school concentrates on learning about their environment, including the planets, geography, gardening, cooking and so much more. This school provides a very safe environment where children are able to learn about the world around them and about themselves in a very non-intimidating way.Ms. Sally’s commitment to the children is greatly evident in her attention to detail in the classroom. Much thought is put into determining the lessons and work which is taught each day. We as parents have also learned so much about our child’s development and thought processes. Ms. Sally and the other teachers have provided valuable feedback about our children which in turn has helped us better understand their needs. For us Hinder Them Not and the teachers there have provided a valuable resource in helping us navigate through raising children and giving them the best of ourselves and the world to them.Alka & Jagdeep Intwala
