My wife and I feel so blessed to have come across Dr Werlin and his wonderful team. This place makes you feel like a family from the second you walk into the office. Obviously we are coming here because weve had a tough go at fertility and family planning, have a million and one questions, etc. However, the staff at Coastal Fertility is incredibly empathetic and always ready to lend an ear, crying shoulder or answer any questions we may have (no matter how silly!) We have now entered our second trimester with twins and would like to spread the glorious gospel about this place. Looking forward to returning soon with our babies. THANK YOU!!

It breaks my heart to be writing this review because I truly do think very highly of Dr. Werlin, but I cannot recommend this practice and I feel that I would be doing a disservice to other hopeful moms and dads by not sharing my experience.I was a patient of Dr. Werlins for 2 years and, while I did get pregnant, the pregnancies ended in an early miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy. I was told you just have bad luck multiple times which felt so disheartening and made me feel helpless. After 3 FET transfers that didnt end with us bringing a baby home, we decided to consult with other doctors. Weve learned about a long list of other tests and protocols that we could have tried (ERA, intralipids, M2 gene test, additional RPL tests, bloodthinners, etc.) and we are now proceeding with another highly regarded doctor in Orange County. When my husband and I started with Coastal, we were told not to consider the success rates of the office because they dont turn any patients away, however, according to the CDC website, their success rates are some of the worst in the country. All of the other offices we consulted with told us that they dont turn patients away either so Im not clear on that logic any longer. In addition to the emotional and physical toll that IVF has taken on me and my husband, the financial toll has been almost as equally taxing. When we made the decision to pursue IVF, we know that it was going to be expensive and that we were going to have to make a lot of sacrifices, but the idea of having our own baby was worth it to us. What we didnt realize was how many billing challenges we would have with the Coastal Fertility office or the anesthesiologist that they contract with. Coastal Fertility requires that you pay upfront for all of your procedures, which means that they bill your insurance after the fact and then you have to battle to get reimbursed the money that youre owed. I dont want to sound dramatic, but it has been a nightmare trying to get reimbursed for payments that were made over 6 months ago. Supposedly theres only one billing person at the office and she has mysteriously been out for months on end so I cant resolve any of my billing issues. This just makes an already overwhelming situation, that much more overwhelming. With regards to the billing challenges with the anesthesiologist, Coastal partners with a traveling anesthesiologist who also requires that you pay upfront. In all of the instances where Ive worked with the anesthesiologist, Ive paid him the $400 upfront and then was later sent a bill for $1,000 which I had to fight to not pay.Honestly, Im just exhausted and tired of this office and I just want to be reimbursed the money that Im owed so that I can walk away and not look back. I hope this review helps hopeful parents out there to question their decision as to whether or not to choose this practice.

Coastal Fertility Makes Miracles Happen! Everyone involved that made our dream come true made this difficult process so easy. From the initial consult with Dr. Werlin we felt so comfortable and confident that we would leave there with a baby in my belly! Every step of this process was carefully explained thoroughly and we never felt rushed. Thank you Joanne, Michelle, Marisa, Anne and my lovely Lisa for making me feel so loved when I felt so scared of the unknown. To Dr. Werlin you truly rock!

Wow. I cant even begin to describe this place. The entire staff here works daily to help create families and forever love! From the moment you walk into Coastal Fertility Center you feel a warm welcome. The walls are decorated with what seems to be thousands of photos of families that were helped and adorable baby faces that were all because of this facility. The first time I walked in, I was overwhelmed with joy and love seeing so many smiles that I was brought to tears. My entire life Ive been dedicated to helping people. I donate blood, platelets, time, and am a registered bone marrow donor. Even with all this, Ive always had the need to do more.I did my research on coastal fertility center and was comforted by the amount of happy donors I found.(To think I could be apart of helping make a family for people that have waited so long to have one)The entire donation process was so easy! They help you with everything from day one and always answer any question no matter how small or dumb it may seem.My personal nurse was Anne Chun. She never once made me feel worried or concerned about what was to come.I was so thankful for how kind and helpful everyone was, I treated them all to donuts hehe. (Thats how you know I like you, I buy you food)I would highly recommend Coastal Fertility Center both for donating yourself and for help making family!

Dr. Werlin & his staff are wonderful! From the consultation to our graduation day, we were always treated with care & compassion. Not only did he help us achieve our goal, but he FOUND THE ISSUE as to why we were not getting pregnant. I will always hold Dr. Werlin and his staff (especially Joanne & Michelle) in my heart. Without them, our family would be incomplete!

Dr. Werlins expertise and knowledge along with his tremendous enthusiasm is wonderfully remarkable and invaluable. He is positive, honest and such a source of comfort when traveling down this difficult road. His nurse, Anne Chun, is beyond words in my opinion. She is so good at what she does and is truly one of the most genuine, warm people I have ever met. And to have her on this journey with us has been absolutely priceless. They are both the best youll find out there and the ones you want to travel the fertility road with. Promise!

Love Dr Werlin! After 3 years of getting no answers and being my own advocate in a profession I did not know, I felt like I could relax and let the professionals take over. His nurses and staff knew us by name after our second visit and I felt like I could ask questions at any time. We are so excited to have graduated the early OB program and on our way to parenthood. If you want a miracle worker, The Werl is it!

God send! Dr. Werlin made it possible for our family to add a second child! His staff is on it, very respectful, organized and warm. I loved Lisa, one of the nurses. I had/have PCOS and my hormones werent where they needed to be to conceive. Dr. Werlin fixed me right up and I had a one-time successful IUI. A first-time IUI being successful is uncommon, but through prayer and Dr. Werlins skill, everything was successful. He is a great man and his bedside manner is calming. I still distinctly remember the smell of his cologne, LOL and it was very bittersweet to graduate from his care after 12 weeks. My baby is now 3.5 months old! Thank you, Dr. Werlin for being an answer to prayer!

I am beyond thankful to them and very happy my family and I are apart of the Coastal Fertility family. Thank you Dr. Werlin and staff!

Our experience with Coastal Fertility was not positive - extremely poor communication, rude staff, excessive charges, and unnecessary office visits that burdened our Surrogate and our finances. Engaging in this process is a challenge - and your fertility partners should be there to help guide and support you every step of the way. Not only was this office not supportive, the lack of care and communication (and conversely, their extreme-efficiency in which they communicate around their needed our money) left us feeling taken advantage of in every way.Anne Chun was our main point of contact. We felt that Anne was VERY put out to answer any questions we had. Her written/oral communication was very curt, unwelcoming, and borderline rude at times. After frequent requests for updates on our surrogates visits, Anne would begrudgingly send us very short messages - often AFTER we had received updates from our surrogate. As the Intended Parents, we expected to be kept updated on all fronts. That did not occur without our active and constant requests for it. Communication matters - so this was a red flag for us.During our initial onboarding, we had a financial meeting with their CFO, Maria Bauer. Maria explained the process and advised that they would contact us before billing our credit card for medications, services, or other procedures that are required. As we dove in to her confusing spreadsheet of charges - we requested an in-person meeting to help us decode the medical jargon, abbreviations, and items that didnt make sense to us. Maria could not make heads-or-tails of several of the line items on her own forms - some even marked with an asterisk referencing a footnote that just didnt exist or that she could not explain. When politely pressed for answers, Maria could not easily address or respond and made excuses that she inherited these forms (that she, herself admittedly used for years and didnt notice the issues) and couldnt appropriately address our concerns. Details matter - so this was of course, another red flag for us.Werlins interactions with us as Intended Parents left a lot to be desired. During our second IVF cycle, a bleed was discovered during our ultrasound where we also heard the heartbeat. Werlins demeanor shifted from one of excitement to a more somber, serious tone when the bleed was discovered. He advised we needed to keep an eye on it and then left the exam room. No information about what the bleed was, how it was caused, etc.. I walked out of the exam room to ask him for more information and was given the same non-informative response. After leaving the office, I conducted my own research and found out that the bleed was a subchorionic hematoma. I called the office to talk with Werlin - discussed my findings, and was told - yeah, thats it, There just seemed to be an overall lack of care, lack of effort to educate, and lack of compassion for what we were experiencing. Our 2nd IVF cycle resulted in a miscarriage. After 2 failed attempts - we consulted with other local physicians. We discovered that was administering DOUBLE the progesterone to our surrogate and for a longer period of time than other surrogates. We discussed our concerns with Werlin and he replied with his reasons for doing so - but after our own surrogate and other family members experiences with surrogacy, we asked to reduce the progesterone for our 3rd IVF cycle to what the majority rule was discovered to be. Our last cycle did not result in an active pregnancy - and his reasoning when delivering the news of a negative pregnancy test was again, without compassion and placed the responsibility of the failed pregnancy on us due to our request to reduce the progesterone.Werlins office put our surrogate through 34 visits during these 3 IVF cycles, refusing to allow her to do testing at a local Quest office. For comparison, her last surrogacy of TWINS required only FOUR visits. If you are seeking support for your path to parenthood, LOOK ELSEWHERE for a more compassionate and caring firm.

We were recommended to Coastal Fertility by a friend. My husband and I were very scared because we didnt know what to expect. You hear so many horror stories of couples paying $100,000 plus in fertility treatments and gouung through the IVF process more than once. Dr. Werlin was very straightforward about the process and his personality is such that any anxiety is put to rest with his humor. Although there arent always a success story like ours, having a great Doctor regardless of the outcome is rewarding. Dr. Werlin knows fertility! Thank you for our miracle baby!

My wife and I couldnt be happier with the quality of care of Dr. Werlin and his staff. Suffice it to say there is a difference between their facility and others. To make a very long story somewhat shorter, my wife and I attempted our first round of IVF with another medical center, and while the process was much the same, the quality of care was not something we felt comfortable with. The first attempt failed, and we were so discouraged that we took time away to decide if starting a family was something we were adamant about pursuing. When we were ready to try again, much more research on the internet led my wife to suggest Coastal Fertility Medical Center, and their free open house seminar to see what they were about. From our first seminar visit, and our subsequent consultation with Dr. Werlin, we could tell there was something different about him and his team. They showed a warmth and compassion that had been lacking with our previous medical experience. We chose to move forward with another attempt, and were pleased to discover that while Dr. Werlin had moved to a brand new facility in Irvine, their costs for our needed procedures were the same as what we had previously paid. The vast majority of the services that a patient needs are offered in house, from labs to ultrasounds, and other types of testing as well. This speeds up the process and makes needed visits more productive and valuable. Office hours start at 6:30am, which was huge for two working prospective parents; they are open 7 days a week and holidays too.Ill be honest, at first I was skeptical that something that sounded too good to be true, was. Its rare in the world when you can find someone who is as good as their word, but Dr. Werlin is. He said he would be the one performing the ultrasounds; he was. He said he would be the one calling us with the results of my wifes blood tests; he did. During one surgical procedure, he was in the pre-op room describing to my wife what was going to happen during the procedure, took her into the procedure, performed the procedure himself, brought her out into post-op, checked in on her multiple times prior to her being discharged, and even put her in a wheelchair and pushed her to our car himself when she was ready to go home. The way he treated both my wife and myself with courtesy, respect, care, honesty, and did all of it with an upbeat positive manner (even at 6:30am, no easy feat) blew me away. His unique, personal practice has been a refreshing change from everything else we had been used to. It was the 2nd most important thing about our experience with Dr.Werlin; the 1st being the day he called to tell us that we were going to have the family we had wanted for a long time. I cant recommend him and his staff highly enough. If you want more information on what your options are or are already considering IVF, go see them. No one is promised anything; nor were we. But even if we hadnt been successful, I can tell you that I know that all of the people at Coastal did everything in their power to make us so.

We were treated by another fertility doctor prior to Dr. Werlin, for about a year. After I shared about my experiences with a friend, she recommended that I make a visit to see Dr. Werlin. We switched over to him and never looked back...What I was looking for in a doctor was competence and care. What we got were both of those qualities in spades. Dr. Werlin is a character, full of energy and humor. However, he has an amazing ability to know when what is needed is sensitivity, comfort with silence, and tenderness... Without wanting to share our familys medical specifics on the internet for anyone to see, lets just leave it at we have been successfully treated by Dr. Werlin and have been able to grow our family because of his expertise. The team at Coastal Fertility is incredible, from the administrative group, to the medical professionals, to the embryologists. I truly believe they have shared in our sorrows and celebrated our joys all along the way. I will forever be grateful to Coastal Fertility for helping us expand our family and being a part of our journey to parenthood.

Dr. Werlin and his team are top notch and I would highly recommend them to anyone suffering from infertility! My husband and I started the IVF process in 2010 and were so fortunate to get a healthy baby on the first try. When we went back in 2012 for a sibling, things didnt go as smoothly. We suffered 2 devastating miscarriages. And thats when Dr. Werlin and his team truly stepped up their game. They were there to give us a hug or encouragement when needed, but also space to accept our losses. I wondered if I would ever have another healthy baby and couldn’t believe Dr. Werlin would be able to get me pregnant 4 times in a row, but low and behold he did! We are currently expecting a sibling for our son and couldn’t be more excited. The IVF process has had its ups and downs, but Dr. Werlin and his team have been our constant. In fact, when raving about Dr. Werlin and his team to friends, family and others suffering from infertility, I often hear, [t]hey better be nice for how much you pay. But the truth of the matter is IVF is expensive no matter how you slice it and I can tell you that not all infertility specialists are created equally. I have spoken to several people going through the IVF process and belonged to several infertility forums during my 3.5 years of IVF and I can tell you that Coastal Fertility is unique in its approach. Not only do you have a personal relationship with Dr. Werlin and your nurses, but Dr. Werlin handles all of the appointments no matter how big or small, calls you personally with all of your test results including simple blood work, and sees you every single week for an ultrasound after you get pregnant through the first trimester. It’s this type of top notch care mixed with caring and respect that has earned Dr. Werlin an amazing reputation.I would not hesitate to refer Dr. Werlin and his team. Infertility is challenging enough, why not choose a doctor who has a unique gift of being incredibly talented with an amazing bedside manner? To all of you suffering from infertility, I wish you nothing but the best. Good luck!
