Valerie is hands down the best trainer I have ever worked with, and I’ve worked with four or five over the years. She literally saved our rescue dog’s life, who came to us as a two year old mostly untrained afraid, and smart enough to get into trouble. We couldn’t leave her alone or take her most places when Valerie met her. Fast forward four months, and she is running off leash at the beach, happily greeting strangers and playing with other dogs. Valerie understands dogs, including fear aggressive dogs like ours, and calmly teaches the techniques that allow you to understand and train your dog. She never judges and has an answer for everything. We are eternally grateful, and recommend her to everyone we know with dogs. Thank you, Valerie!

When we got our high-strung lab/kelpie mixes 8 years ago, Vals obedience classes trained us on how to train our dogs. One of the major byproducts of that training is they do not run out of the house without our signal; so important to our pups safety.

We adopted two rescue dogs who were badly in need of some training (or was it us :) Valerie helped us with private training which was a great success, some noticeable changes even after the first lesson.We continued with a course of group training which was also beneficial and fun. Result we have two well trained young dogs.

Valerie is amazing! Not only did she teach me how to train my strong willed pekingese, she immediately reached out to a friend who was having an aggression issue with his doberman pinscher. I am so grateful for her knowledge, patience and love of pets! Thank you Valerie!!!

Valarie is the best my Cody was wild but in the 1st private lesson with Valarie I saw a change in Cody Valarie is kind patience and knowledgeable and takes her time talking with you she taught me so much and today Cody is a new dog I dont know what we would have done without her she made this home a happy place Thank you so much Valarie!!!

All I can say is Val is amazing!!! I had a male dog (Constantine) and a female dog (Starlit). They were extremely close and when Starlit passed, Constantine didnt know how to act. I then introduced a male rescue (Rudy) into the home and they were not able to get along. After working with Val they became super close. We then rescued a third dog (Buddy) and she helped us with him as well. Not only is she patient and kind but she really knows how to train humans so that they can read, understand, and guide their babies to a happy life. She has a true love for animals. I am so blessed that I met Val. I dont know what I would have done without her. There is not way I can express how exceptional of a trainer she is.

AAAAA++++++Valerie took an out of control 80-pound puppy and an overwhelmed owner and created a loving, easy-going home. She did it by reminding me to be firm first and show appreciation next. Where other dog trainers had relied on me giving the puppy treats (the equivalent of giving my children candy right before bed), Valerie taught me that my affection was my dogs greatest treat. Wonderful! Valerie had our dog calm within minutes...our dog really responded to her commands.

We rescued a dog that had been raised for meat overseas. She had obviously been abused and had some serious and concerning “triggers”. She stayed with Valerie for a couple of weeks and Valerie was able to work miracles. Leah is now a happy, smart, funny and confident member of the family. Valerie’s calm, loving, positive and professional training style is amazing!

I found a rescue Chihuahua who turned out to be a stubborn little guy when it came to utilizing the doggie door. I called Best Paw Forward and spoke to Valerie. Rather then just trying to get money from me, she initially tried to give me training tips over the phone which I tried with no luck. Eventually Valerie came over and within an hour she had him going through the doggie door, sue made my life easier. I highly recommend Best Paw Forward for all your dog training needs.

Valerie came to our house to help us with a few issues we were having with our new dog. She showed us several techniques that we will continue to practice on our own. The dog made amazing progress in an hour. Valerie uses positive reinforcement techniques.

Valerie is a true professional with a great depth of knowledge that only comes from experience. Before she even came to our home she spent a lot of time on the phone with me to better understand our dogs personalities, quirks and temperaments as well as what we were hoping to accomplish with our 8-1/2 yr. old boxer and 5 yr. old boxer/pit mix. We had tried many other training methods in the past but still were unable to walk our dogs calmly on leashes in a social setting. After our four private lessons we came to a much better understanding of how and why our dogs react the way they do and she helped us to modify their behavior so that they now walk nicely. Valerie also has a great personality and made it very fun. We highly recommend Best Paw Forward. Worth every penny.
