Customer service is extremely poor. No one calls you back when you leave phone messages, or returns e-mails, or helps you sign up for sports. If you need anything from the front desk, they almost always have to get someone else to for answer questions. Conveniently, that person who holds the answers to asked questions or has the authority to click buttons right on the screen is never around. The family lock room and lockers are not big enough or set up to handle the stuff you bring for a family.

I was in town for 1 month for work with my family and joined this YMCA while I was there.PROS:The gym looks nice and the equipment is clean.Swimming lesson (for my 14 month old) was fun and the teacher was great.CONS:Customer service is terrible. There was often no one at the front desk or the person was looking at their phone and didnt notice us. We walked right in a few times without ever scanning our cards and no one noticed.Child care is like a bad coat check. They were cold and not welcoming, both to my kids and to me. I only took my kids there twice and wouldnt ever do it again.Im still dealing with billing issues. I was PROMISED by Don Casey that I would be only charged for one month and am still dealing with recurring charges. When I call to try and resolve the issue I get sent to voicemail and never called back.

Beautiful Y in a great downtown location!! The lap pool has a 4 dedicated lanes open all the time (double check but that was my experience). Highly recommend this location. The parking lot is closed and the public has to pay, but members (and away members like me) can get a validation pass.

I go to this gym just about every day during the week. They have very friendly staff. There is a good variety of equipment for both cardio and strength training. They have egym equipment as well as 3 basketball courts, classes, cycle rooms, activities and much more. They have a lap pool and program pool, a hot tub and a sauna. The showers and facilities are clean and well maintained.

The gym itself is great but they dont consistently enforce safety guidelines surrounding covid. They put up signs saying wear a mask, limit occupancy, and to distance yet all I see are people just casually strolling around the gym without masks right next to one another. Whats the point of putting up signs and enforcing guidelines from 2-3pm Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday if youre gonna let people play basketball all up in each others faces and turn a blind eye the second 3:01 hits? Really disappointing.

At least THREE times a week at this location, I cannot get my one child into play and learn so that I can have a single moment to myself while working out. It is overflowing. They shut down the Atheneum location play and learn, but had no back up plan prepared for where those parents would need to go as a result of it being closed. This is incredibly discouraging and upsetting that we were not thought of.Are sad, pathetic moms not apart of the community?Edit- we are also fully aware that the Atheneum play and learn did not close as a result of covid regulations. This closure makes it worse at other locations.

This is a nice facility but it has no use to me when it’s too crowded to use. They need to expand their hours back to normal (pre-Covid). I understand the change before when demand was low at the onset of the pandemic but demand is back, regardless of the mandated capacity limits. I came in at 7pm, an hour before they closed on a Tuesday and they were still on capacity waits for sections of the facility. Why would they limit hours during Covid if there is demand? All it is doing is forcing people to workout at the same time which is worse. Seems they are just trying to reduce operating costs and payroll hours to me... That said they should either expand their hours back to normal or reduce our membership rates.

This is the most comprehensive YMCA I’ve been to. It’s big, modern, clean, and open. It can get busy in the early evening, as most gyms do, but the weight room and cardio area are large enough to accommodate a lot of people. You might just have to wait a minute for a bench or a barbell rack. The pool is big and the lap area is separated from the kids swim area which is nice.

I joined this YMCA about a year ago. It has an indoor walking/running track and all of the other health club fitness machines that you would expect in an upscale club. They have a pool and steam room. There are lockers to secure your personal items while you are working out. This is a very great location in an up and coming section of downtown Indy. I get a Veterans rate so it is very affordable and well worth the money to belong.

It doesn’t make any sense why you would limit your hours during Covid. You’re forcing more people to come to the gym at the same time; which logically doesn’t make sense for social distancing. I personally will be cancelling my membership soon if the hours remain the same. Stay open until 10pm.

The program pool is closed more often than I’d like. They close it because they don’t have lifeguards ready or something. But they’ll open the lap pool. And instead of alternating, preference is given to the lap pool when they could easily make lap lanes in the deep end of the program pool and keep the shallow end free for those of us needing to do aqua aerobics.I don’t see the reason to cater to the fit swimmers. I have severe knee arthritis and I need the pool and aqua aerobics. But swimmers could choose to do cardio on a treadmill as an alternative. I cannot. I’m NOT dissing swimmers or saying they SHOULD switch their routine. I’m saying the Y should NOT give preference to lap swimmers and that while they may have an alternative to swimming due to their great physical strength, I do not. I’m limited to the pool. When it’s closed, I can’t exercise. I pay my fees but can’t use the one thing I need to use to live healthier.Again, the Y could think of a better workaround like putting lanes in the program pool so both aqua aerobics people and lap swimmers can get a chance. Or opening a section in the lap pool for aqua aerobics to use like they do for classes.

Awesome atmosphere with a young feel to it. The free-weight area is lacking however, as they need more equipment and space for the after-work crowd. The pool area is nice and the locker rooms are clean. Not a bad gym by any means, could just use some more free weights and space.

Weights section is so small and crowded and its always a struggle to get the equipment I need. I tend to plan my day around when the gym is least busy, which is a huge inconvenience.Id like to edit my review because Ive since become a lot more comfortable in the gym. The facilities are nice and clean. The locker rooms and showers are comfortable and modern(theres a tampon machine but you still have to pay a quarter even after the pricey membership fee... WHAT?!) I feel the weights section is evolving to better serve needs. However there are still only two squat racks and theyre constantly in use. The cables are pretty limited as well. I feel this is deeply problematic as the demand is definitely there. Its still usually over crowded. I in general just wish it was bigger.

This place was great: the equipments are generally very well maintained, always clean towers to use, classes I went to never disappointed me. However, it closed too early comparing to most of the gyms. They close 7 on Saturday and 6 on Sunday. Please, keep it open ( even just the main floor) for people to exercise after dinner!

My review primarily is focused on the Play & Learn program (child care). I never have had a problem, never a concern with safety or cleanliness, always a smile when greated, and my child enjoys the interactions. I especially want to review Ms. Kelsey who works at the Play & Learn (also in Kids Night Out) who gives each child individual attention and makes all kids feel welcome and safe! 5 stars for her dedication and patience.

No doubt that this is a beautiful and nice gym with great facility, I was happy up until last 2-3 months. Now, its getting more and more crowded and it seems out of control, doesnt matter what time you use. Its totally packed with too many people, getting harder to find a space for anything. If you are fine with that big crowd, this is for you, but if you are not like me, this wont be the best fit for you. Sad to do so, but I cancel my membership here because I dont think this will become any quieter down the road.

This gym is REALLY crowded. I mean that in the most extreme way. Ive never been to a gym this crowded. From 4-7pm there is almost no open equipment in the entire place. In the past year they have moved all the equipment around at least 3 times to try and open the space, and try to strategically place everything so theres physical space for all the gym go-ers. The facilities are clean and new which is the only reason I didnt give it one star. The only reason we have retained our membership this long is because of good location, but we are moving soon and Im very excited to NOT train there anymore.

The facility is super nice and everyone is very friendly! I wish the volume on the exercise equipment (treadmills and some others) were functional. Usually I am able to find an elliptical machine that works but the gym is packed rn considering its the new year (this should probably decrease soon). Yesterday, I went to 4+ machines and it was not working. Considering the monthly fee is quite a lot I hope they fix this issue soon. Thank you!

The wait in the mornings for the pool to open is ridiculous! This morning the wait is over an hour!!! The gym opens at 5am, so there is no excuse. This is beyond annoying and has become a consistent theme with this location and it needs to change! We are now considering the Monon Center to avoid this type of issue. My husband and I drive 40 minutes just to work out here and it is so not worth it.

Ah, I have a completely mixed love-hate relationship with this one. Love that all is new and nice - locker rooms, machines, showers. Love the glass wall in the pool (especially cool in snowy or/and sunny days), love the free towels. Hate the overcrowded parking lot (almost every single time!), general problem with dealing with too many people. And what is it about sauna rules? We went there wrapped in cotton towels (as it is supposed to be done) and looked surprised at all the people in there in sweaty post-workout spandex and shoes (!) and right after us ran in an employee and told us to leave. The reason - you cannot use sauna unless you are dressed or have a swimsuit on. Which is ridiculous, you might want to read on the right not harmful way to use sauna so it will be health-beneficial.

Super nice brand new facility. Pool seems a bit small for the number of people that this Y will eventually serve but I guess it will have to do. I really like the keyless small locker systems. Im not a fan of spin bikes in general but I have to say the stadium stacking of the bikes is a cool idea and the jumbo screen has got to make it more tolerable. Like every other Y I have been in the hidden jewel is in the group fitness classes. The 30/30 is a good one as well strength training were great!

Nice facilities and a lot of group sessions offered, but yikes, they have some serious overcrowding problems. There is no parking at times (7am - 9am and 4pm - 8pm) and even the overflow lots fill up. I didnt even bother trying to go in when it was like that. On the rare occasion I found parking it was still very crowded inside. Spin classes often filled up 30+ minutes before they started. Ended up cancelling my membership and enrolling at another gym, this just isnt worth the hassle. Might be good for someone who works weird hours and can get in at non-peak times (if such a time exists). This place is so busy I feel like another location is needed downtown.

While I find the staff friendly and the locker rooms roomy enough I am very disappointed with the swimming pools. The hot tub and sauna are nice, but the lap pool is tiny compared to other YMCAs around the city. Four lap lanes are not enough for the only YMCA with a pool in the downtown area. It is rare that the lanes are not crowded. To top it off, lately they have been closing lanes for private swim lessons during peak swimming hours (5 am to 7 am). That is unacceptable in a pool that only has 4 lanes to begin with. So if you like to shoot hoops (three gymnasiums) this is the Y for you. If you swim, maybe go to the IU Natatorium or one of the Ys outside the circle.

I attend 2-3 5am sessions a week here, 4-5 evening sessions a month (Any other night i am at my home Y in Greenwood)Facility is nice as it should be. Obviously not designed to be a PowerHouse Gym. Has a great isolated area for what appears to be utilized for HIIT type workouts. Bunch of Cardio and lack freeweights. Like everyone else said, good luck finding parking after 6am and be prepared to have to work in with some.Major cons:1. BE READY IN THE MORNING. Supposed to open at 5am. Typically it a few minutes after 5 before the doors are unlocked. Then everyone has to stand and wait for the check-in computer to load up. Few times its been after 5:15 before we could get upstairs. This really sucks for the other people like myself that only have 45 min to get a lift session in before having to shower for work.2. LOOSE THE TV OVER THE FREE WEIGHTS. Its packed enough, dont need people lounging around getting distracted and taking too long of breaks between sets.3. Clean the 3 month old blood drops off the bench in the mens locker room. Ive dropped comment cards on this and been waiting to see. I wouldnt sit down without a towel under me. As clean as the place looks, makes you wonder how a couple blood drops the size of quarters can remain out in the open like it has.Another layout for the crossover pulley system would be beneficial. Coming from the Baxter Y that is laid out so you could have a possibility of 8 isolated cables, 4 wide grip or 4 narrow grip to a layout that only offers 5 isolated cables, 1 wide grip combo or 1 narrow grip combo...

This place... was hands down one of the best facilities ive been to. I travel quite a bit and even work out of a ymca (promise no bias lol), so ive been around quite a bit.The facilty was as amazing inside as it was outside, clean organized and well staffed. Every single person ther was more than friendly, the help they provided was second to none from the tour to helping me adjust to the new machines I hadnt seen before. The staff was constantly on the floor, and machines were constantly being cleaned. There was no short supply of towels, as it seemed the staff was constantly stocking them. From the gym floor to the showers, everything seemed to be highly maintained.Locker rooms had hard wood lockers, and carpeted flooring an elegant touch. The machines were all mondern and up to date, offering the user the best quality. Plenty of machines, squat racks, a dead lift floor, and more than enough weights to go around for the city, trx system as well as urgs & barbell landmine. Pool was clean and well guarded, with a hot tub and sauna on site for relaxation and dont worry the play pool is seperate from the lap pool.Overall this place has been my favorite facility and im sad to leave it.
