Im still salty about my roommate eating my stress ball and them not giving me another in fear of her eating it again. my bed smelled strongly of pee and they dont treat you like a human there. I got groped by a guy in the rec room and the nurses did nothing. they offer little to no actual therapy in this place and they just load you up on meds if youre depressed. made me wanna kms even more. terrible place. dont go here please god.

I was a patient at RPH years ago I hardly remember much of my time but I do remember when batman would come and the crazy things the elf on the shelf did during Christmas time

I didn’t want to put a rating, but I’d like to ask this to people that have been here: what’s it like? I wanna know if this would be an okay place for me to go if I needed to. I’m not gonna listen to staff responses, so don’t bother.

The staff was wonderful very friendly, caring and compassionate. It is what you make it. If you truly want help I recommend this place.

At first when I was a patient I was scared, but this place kept me alive and honestly I think that this place is the best place for people struggling with there issues. Btw if a staff from 3 east is reading it’s Jacob Burgess

Whoever answers the phones for this hospital needs fired. I have never experienced someone so unnecessarily rude.

If zero was an option I would give double zeros. Rude staff, lacking in knowledge of help once the patient is released, family can tell social worker that the patient can’t return home and ask for them to be placed in an assisted living and family is told they will put them on street or sent to homeless shelter. In addition the doctor there refuses to listen to anything family says. This doctor put my brother on old medication that he had been told didn’t work and gave him muscle relaxers knowing he was a recovering addict and had overdosed 3 times in a year. Unfortunately he is there again by mental hygiene warrant. I want to add the doctor was provided his physiatrist and pharmacy phone to verify the meds. He ingnored. I specifically requested he not be sent there he has been there 3 times before and came out in worse shape than when he went there. The senior unit reeks of urine. I question why this facility is still licensed to operate. PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE

I prefer to call it Hell Park, although you never see a park. There was absolutely nothing good about it, except the food.With a few exceptions, the staff was cold, dismissive and downright rude. And when I was released I was pretty much worse.I would not send a dog here.

I dont like how they use things to hold kids down. An if the kids tell u there therapist tells them thats not what happens. An when my Grandson said yes they do. The therapist say yea someone times. Really says kids not telling the truth. An turns around an say they are. What is really happening to our kids in there.

I do not have any problems mentally, but the reviews I have read discourages me from sending any of my family members here. I would give 0 stars but thats not available.

Tough crowd:Having worked in the mental health field from direct car, administrative and soon to be moving into the legal realm, I have to express the lack of understanding existing with regard to the difficult task, which River Park and the other few existing facilities offered in WVa/region are charged with tackling.The entrenched issues plaguing this area relative to mental health in this area actually pervade beyond patient populations. A collective dysphoria has graduated to a depressed state of existence here. In my experience, work ethic here is almost non-existent. People would rather live from state welfare than work - often taking any opportunity to qualify for some allowance or loophole, which will provide a path to escaping gainful employment. In addition, fraudulent “call-offs” are rampant everywhere. Most of all, I have seen entitlement in a population that used to be known for hard work and tough grit.Facilities like River Park, because of the specific services provided - as well as it’s position on the timeline of services offered in the state, are in the unenviable position to be ridiculed and criticized by pretty much everyone.I know firsthand how hard the professionals at RPH work, how much they care and the skill with which they provide services. When one considers the environment the administration and others are made to make-do with, I see it as a considerable success.There are plenty of people always waiting to spit venom and attempt to tear down other people’s efforts. I have seen it in my hometown of Huntington more than other locales. I attribute such negativity to the overall quality in their personal lives.River Park, Mitchell Bateman are two of approximately three providers trying to help the significant mental health issue in our state and others. I prefer to gain insight and provide support to them and their cause because I actually know what and how they provide services. I also am very aware of the populations they seek to help. By closely observing their processes, methods for care, and results, I feel certain RPH is underrated and continuing to do great work.

I went in here in a very bad mental health state and when I was there the rooms were really cold. The therapist bearly even tries. I was around some really bad kids who had a terrible attitude and some bad backgrounds who had a terrible influince on me. I am happy to say I am in a way better place and they did get me on meds that have really done me well. The staff were really nice and seemed like they genuinely enjoyed what they did and the food was really good. The staff just really need to watch the patients way way more closely!

Would not recommend to anyone I had a family member in this facility that was homeless at the end of their 30 day stay they were still not stable mentally they put them in a cab sent them to Charleston West Virginia to a homeless shelter where they have been without medication for three days I had asked them not to do this the day before they are not good with mentally unstable people I’m not sure why this hospital is still operating
