I am very pleased with Dr. Kaplan and my overall experience with his office and staff. From the very first visit, he and his staff were very considerate of my time, upfront with all costs associated with my care and very professional. It has been 6 weeks since my balloon sinuplasty procedure and I am very happy with the results. I am able to breathe again at night and no longer snoring, an improvement I am very happy with.I will admit, I was a bit concerned about going to a physician who advertises on TV and billboards. I wasnt sure of the quality of care I would receive and decided I would go elsewhere if I was made to feel the least bit uncomfortable or pressured. Happily that was not the case at all, and I am glad I put aside my pre-judgements and went to see Dr. Kaplan. Also, since I was uncomfortable with the advertising, I have to own up and admit that had it not been for the ads, I would not have been aware of the treatment options available to me. I called Dr. Kaplan and made my consultation appointment for January 19, at 10:00 AM. Upon my arrival his clinical staff was so helpful and great to work with. Everyone’s attitude was upbeat and very positive. Dr. Kaplan came into the exam room and could tell I was having issues. Dr. Kaplan was great at putting my mind at ease, when we went to CT Scan to take x-rays, he was able to show me how many issues I had. WOW!! Was I surprised?After consultation, we went back to my exam room and discussed, procedure, insurance, and any concerns I had. He was able to schedule everything for me on Friday, January 22. I had a company vehicle drive me to my Friday morning appointment, I was early and nervous all at the same time, I was assured everything was going to go well, which put me at ease.Now here is something I’ve never had performed by any of my doctors. Dr. Kaplan called me personally over the weekend to see how I was doing, and if I needed anything to let him know.This shows me Platinum Customer/Patient Service!! a doctor who shows care and compassion for his patients. I would do it all again, this is coming from someone who has suffered chronic sinus issues for more than 30 plus years.Do yourself a favor and go check him out, an associate from my office had the same procedure a year ago. EXCELLENT doctor and AMAZING Staff! I went to Dr. Kaplan after seeing him on a TV ad. From the moment I was seen in the office I truly felt I was having a VIP experience. Unlike a lot of other doctors I have seen he took the time to really listen to my problems. I had the balloon surgery about a month ago and things couldnt have gone better. His staff are wonderful and make you feel like you are the only patient in his practice. Oh, he even gave me his cell phone number to call him but I didnt need it. He called me after the surgery to check on me! Highly recommend!

Amazing doc, amazing experience. I have never been able to breathe though my nose and for the last 15 years I have snored horribly. I saw a commercial for this procedure and decided to schedule a consult. Dr. Kaplan was super friendly and super knowledgable. I scheduled my surgery and it was one of the best things I have done for myself. After a lifetime of not being able to breathe through my nose and my sleeping being disturbed I feel tremendously better. Ive only been at this Drs office 3x now. I have had Sinuplasty surgery and everything went fast. Now, Im able to breathe easy and sleep good at night. He is straightforward and not wasting time. His staff is friendly & helpful. Id difinetely recommend this Doctor!

I had the balloon sinoplasty done a few months ago and Im so thankful that I did it. I was am able to breath again and all is good in that aspect. What did concern me was the patient care. I spent more time with Dr. Kaplans staff than Dr. Kaplans himself. I felt like honestly like I was just a machine on an assembly line to him. I felt like there could have been more time to taken explain on all of the options. I wasnt aware of the out of pocket expense that would be incurred with my choice to be put under for the procedure until the DAY OF THE PROCEDURE. By that time it was too late to change my mind to have the procedure done while I was awake. I just received the bill for the anesthesia and it was $900 (after insurance). It looks like I was charged for two separate anesthesiologists, when in fact I only saw one. I have yet to contact Northwest Anesthesia & Pain to get an explanation for these charges. There are a lot of people in this city who do this procedure to just settle on who you go to see first. Do your homework, ask questions and if you feel like a machine in an assembly line, go somewhere you feel like a human.

He really seemed to care and listen as I voiced my concerns and fears. I have read some of these reviews and I just dont understand the experience- I had a lump on my thyroid and was too afraid to come in and have surgery... This guy personally called me twice to come in because I hadnt scheduled my appointment. He stayed on the phone with me until I had all my concerns addressed. He knew I was scared and anxious, he made certain I was comfortable before I went into surgery. He is a great doctor, he is exceptionally good at what he does and as far as bedside manner, he is about the only Dr I am completely honest with because he just doesnt judge you. Appointments are easy and I have never been surprised at check out....

From my experience the staff was very courteous professional knowledgeable and attentive they prepped me up the best attitudes . Dr. Michael Kaplan , man did his job and was upfront. He told me what he could do for me and gave me other options. He asked if I wanted them and then asked me what I wanted him to do. He had a very militant and disciplined professional approach, he didnt sugar coat the surgery the procedure. He gave me facts, suggestions recommendations but leaving the final decision up to me. Day of surgery, He was punctual And Timely. The doctor took care of his business.My very sinus infections, headaches have never returned, fixed my deviated septum......I will add I have not been sick in over 13 years and give credit to his procedure. 1 am so pleased with my recent procedure and professional services I received from Dr. Kaplan and his staff. Prior to seeing Dr. Kaplan I was having severe sinus headaches, had trouble breathing and was unable to get a good nights sleep. The morning after Dr. Kaplan performed balloon sinuplasty procedure, l slept most of the night woke up with being tired, no headache and could breathe easier. As the day went on at work, I begin to feel even better. By the end of day my energy depleted but this time is was not due to feeling bad but actually because I had put in a full day of productive work. My first day after survey totally satisfied - looking forward to how I will feel next week.

Please stay away from this money hungry doctor. All they care is to pressure you to do the sinus surgery. I was there for an initial consultation and he was so rude and arrogant. He doesnt care about you! And I just heard from a friend that he damaged a patients eye while doing the sinusplasty. That patient is now blind in that eye and major malpractice lawsuit is coming. So sad for that patient! PLEASE STAY AWAY !

If you want to use this doctor for the balloon procedure make sure you let the people up front know and tell them to make sure it is covered under your insurance. Being IN NETWORK DOES NOT MATTER. He can be in network and your insurance will claim the procedure is investigational and will not cover it. If you do not do this you will go through the process spend money and find this out at the end.Again. Let the people that check insurance know this UP FRONT.

I went to 3 other ENTs before I found Dr Kaplan. Had the procedure and he was great and took my calls after hours. I still see him and love his office, staff and him. Definitely would recommend!

After suffering from sinus problems for the last two years I saw Dr. Kaplan. He and his staff were courteous and exhibited a professional and caring attitude. He took more time than I expected and really seemed to take an interest in my problem. I normally dont write reviews but I know I must. Dr. Kaplan is an amazing dr. Ive been suffering from sinus problems for 34 years and never thought I would breathe correct. I was recommended to see. Dr. Kaplan by my primary dr. When I visit Dr. Kaplan I new right there and then this dr. Cared about his patients and wanted to help. He was very sincere and I knew my sinus situation would change. His staff was very nice and they made you felt very welcomed. Dr. Ka plan knows what he is doing. I was so nervous the day of my procedure I didnt know what to expect. It didnt take long and before I knew it I was on my way. If anyone has any issues with sinuses I highly recommend Dr. Kaplan. I can breathe better and sleep better than I had in 34 years.

I was very impressed with Dr. Kaplan and his staff. After being told by another physician that I required a more invasive procedure to treat my chronic sinusitis, I wanted a second opinion. During my consultation with Dr. Kaplan, he recommended the balloon sinuplasty. I had my procedure within a week, on a Friday morning, and was back at work Monday. He was incredibly thorough and professional and personally answered ALL of my (many) questions before and after my successful treatment. I’m very happy with the care I received and would recommend him to anyone!

Let me begin by saying that I usually do not write reviews...good or bad. I read many reviews on here before getting this done. Therefore, I want to be as honest as I can be so it will be helpful. This entire process has been quite the journey. Dr. Kaplan is a direct person. If you are expecting someone to hold your hand and a bunch of other nonsense then he is not the doctor for you. That said, I found him to be spot on with everything that he told me and very pragmatic. Without doubt he is one of my favorite doctors. The procedure is very different. There is definitely a little discomfort and even mild pain involved. It is not a completely pain free process. However, I would do it again in a second to get the results that I received from this process. My nose and sinuses are clear and I can breathe better than ever. I am sleeping much better and I wake up more refreshed. Notwithstanding, there are a few things that everyone should be aware of. There is a rinsing involved where you have to squirt a saline solution in your nose. This has to be done 3 times per day and each time until it runs clear out the other side of your nose. It quite literally feels like you are drowning...but after the first day I found it completely tolerable. Also, there will be lots of junk flushed out your nose as you do these rinses. You might develop thrush from the strong antibiotics that you take and have to take an antifungal medicine. However, the doctor will help you through this if you need him. He even took my call after hours, during the hurricane to call in the prescription of antifungal medicine. The staff was amazing. I felt welcome and cared for the entire time. If you are suffering from any kind of sinus pressure, pain, headaches, or sleep issues related to sinuses, I strongly recommend Dr. Kaplan as your ENT and I strongly recommend this procedure. The entire thing only took about 30 minutes from start to finish....now it takes more than a week for the healing process which is not uncomfortable at all. Also, it takes about an hour to go through the allergy shots but that is a different process. Get this done and give it a few days to heal; it works. BobbyO

I was suffering of bad allergies and couldnt breathe because of my sinus. Had the synoplasty procedure done by Dr. Kaplan and it was like night and day. Easy procedure, no pain, fast and now I CAN BREATHE AGAIN. I highly recommend Dr Kaplan.

Ive had sinus pressure and headaches my entire life! I was referred by my mother who Dr. Kaplan found her thyroid cancer by just doing a sinus exam!!! Saved her life! She is cancer free! Dr. Kaplan performed by sinus surgery and Im happy to say I havent had a headache or pressure since! He is an amazing surgeon!

First visit started great. Path to treatment expensive and billing department would not follow instructions from benefits rep so insurance could cover costs.I had seen three ENTs over the last seven years, with one surgery, numerous medications, all leading to unfavorable results. I then heard a radio commercial for Dr. Kaplan and eventually decided to give Dr. Kaplan a try.During my first appointment, the entire team, from my first phone call, to the end of my appointment, was exceptional. Chelsea set my appointment and was very helpful verifying my insurance and providing potential costs I could expect. She answered all my questions.Dr. Kaplan was very matter of fact and to the point. He assured me we would know what was going on before I left his offices that day. He also provided initial potential costs related to possible CT scan to ensure I was not surprised.After allergy testing by Sian, who deserves five stars for excellent service. She was a very friendly, kind, professional, warm person. It was determined I was highly allergic to several things in the Houston air for which allergy treatment is available. The good news provided by Dr. Kaplan was that no surgery should be required, nor a CT scan based on immediate findings. My final cost for this visit with insurance: $25.I was then days later advised treatment would require entire payment of my remaining insurance deductible, plus additional costs per injection. I contacted my insurance benefits rep , who advised if billing dept would bill treatment as office visit, I would only have to pay $25, period. She confirmed All costs for allergy serum and injections would be fully covered. We had a conference call with Dr. Kaplans billing rep Daisy. In the end, she advised the Dr.s office would not bill treatment as an office visit and I was repeatedly told by her I would be responsible for $359 plus cost of injections, $9 per injection, four injections per visit, two visits per week, so another $72 per week, then once per week, then self administer. Benefits company rep advised billing it this way was their choice but they could just as easily bill everything as an office visit and insurance would cover all costs. Daisy claimed she would ask if allergist could bill as office visit but havent heard back from anyone.....????I felt pleased with the initial diagnostic service I received, however very displeased with handling of billing issues as related to insurance rendering it unaffordable to receive treatment. It doesnt make much sense to leave an individual with top notch, gold plan, Blue Cross Blue Shield, insurance on the hook for costs the insurance provider explicitly advised could be coded and billed to insurance company, minimizing cost impact. That is the reason for having insurance. In the end, it looks like I will continue with allergy and sinus discomfort and again be seeking another ENT who can truly offer reasonable and affordable solutions.

My husband, David, has suffered years with sinusitis. He seemed to keep a sinus infection but the antibiotics didnt seem to work. The coughing, pressure, etc. was getting worst. I emailed Dr. Kaplan last Sunday, his staff respondedon Monday, scheduled him to see Dr. Kaplan on Wednesday, 8/17, and today, Friday, 8/19, Dr. Kaplan did the balloon sinuplasty. David is doing great. Dr. Kaplan explained everything in advance, no surprises. Dr. Kaplan even explained the out of pocket we would pay after our insurance. Horrible!Felt like a cash cow. After waiting for an 1 hour this flamboyant arrogant doctor took literally 2 minutes to look into my ears and throat before kicking me out. To my surprise the procedure was beyond my co-pay and I was charged $125. That is more than $60.00 a minute.Will never go again!

This review is long overdue.I went to Dr. Kaplan with a bad ear infection. I was in a ton of pain and needed to see someone asap. I made an appt and was happy they had something for the same day. I got there and the front desk staff informed me that my insurance didnt cover the visit. I was confused because I wouldnt have made the appt if Id known that. I left very upset because I was in a lot of pain. Later, I got a call that said that they had made a mistake and my insurance did cover it.I went back to the office and the assistants were very apologetic. I appreciated that and was just happy to be able to see a doctor.When the doctor came in he was....cold. Despite my pain, I was pleasant with him because I was glad to see a doctor. To sum it up, he had to remove large earwax buildup from my ears. He did this with a hook-like tool. (Keep in mind my ear canals were swollen and irritated. Also, I was born with a cleft palate and have small underdeveloped ear canals.) So, this process was VERY PAINFUL. I tried my best not to wince and move, but I did at times. This frustrated Dr. Kaplan and he made sure I knew it. He sighed with irritation and even told me that it wouldnt be so bad if I didnt move. That comment really bothered me but I gritted my teeth and tried to hang in there.After he removed what he could from my throbbing ears, he proceeded to speak to me in a condescending tone. At that point, I was done being nice. I looked at him as if he had lost his mind. When he saw my face, he changed his tune and attempted to make polite small talk while writing a prescription. However, I was very much done with him and his horrible attitude/bedside manner. He told me to come back in a few days so he could remove the rest of the wax.Needless to say, I did not return.Dr. Kaplan came off as a self-important, pompous guy. He clearly does not respect his patients. Hopefully he realizes that he is not better than anyone.Message for Dr. Kaplan: You have grossly underrated the power of being nice...and the power of the review. Do Better.

That man is the best damn doctor at what he does!

I couldnt be happier with a physician than I am with Dr. Kaplan. He recently performed sinus surgery on me after another physician messed me up. Dr. Kaplan immediately took me in and took excellent care of me. He is very intelligent, articulate, timely and professional. He is also honest, frank and upfront with his information and opinion so the appropriate decisions can be made. When looking for a physician, I dont want someone to sugar coat anything. I want an honest and candid opinion. He is the expert professional who is well respected and regarded in his field. I trust his advice 100%. I also would like to disagree with one of the other reviewers, Dr. Kaplan and his staff have always given me all of the time I needed and treated me with complete respect and courtesy. They literally bent over backwards to work around my schedule and made sure I always got all of the information I needed. The entire staff is delightful including the nurse who stuck my arm 60 times for allergy testing! IMHO this is the premiere ENT practice in the City of Houston!
