Dr. Bloom did surgery on my foot today. I can’t express enough how grateful I am for his work. He is truly an amazing Doctor, very kind and caring. Dr Bloome, in my opinion, is one of the best foot surgeons in Houston. He performed surgery on my toes 6 weeks ago and Im very pleased with his work in the outcome. He is highly skilled, uses advanced techniques, demonstrates a high attention to detail, is very caring and communicative. I am so blessed to have been treated by Dr. Bloome, & the World Class team of professionals at Fonden Orthopedic Hospital.I can personally attest, You can count on them to provide the absolute best care possible. A level that I thought only existed for Very Important People with unlimited resources.Here is my story. On Sunday May 19th, 2019 I was at a USABMX Race with my 10 year old son who races locally, Statewide, and Nationally, when I had a traumatic injury to my left foot / ankle while practicing. (picture attached with review)As I was laying in the dirt after a bad wreck, next thing I know I was surrounded by the amazing members of the USABMX Community. I remember several people shouting Call 911, & I calmly said, No, my son is in the gate about to race and does not know what has happened to me, I cannot get his mother on the phone, & I am not going anywhere until I know my son is in good care.Kim the track operators wife wife came over to me and said, I will make sure that Jacob gets home safely and she handed me a piece of paper with her cell phone number on it.A Husband & Wife came over to me and the group that was helping me & said, Why dont we put him in the passenger seat of his truck, I will drive him to the hospital, my wife will follow us, & then bring me back?Next several men were carrying me to my truck, the BMX Track Operators wife had already placed pillows and towels on the floorboard of the passenger seat to help elevate & cushion me.As we left the the track I looked over at the man driving me in my truck & said, Its not an accident that I happened to park next to you today, he smiled and continued to drive.While I was in triage & before he left I looked at him & said, Im a believer, & any doubts Ive ever had as to if there is such a thing as a Guardian Angel you have proven there is, thank you so much! He smiled & left. My spirit was now fully awakened.When I was being discharged from the Emergency-Room they provided me with a referral for an Orthopedic Surgeon in the Katy area. The next day I went & met with him & was told, Yeah, you are going to need a few Titanium Rods & about 50 screws. He was much younger than me, and did not impress me.I called a Friend who is a Risk Analyst for a Large Network of Hospitals & asked her, Can you check out this Doctor for me & let me know what you think? She said, Yes, give me about 30 minutes. She called me back & said, There is nothing negative about him, however he has only been practicing for 3 years. This along with the way I was treated made it very clear that I needed to research my alternate options.I started searching keywords: Best Orthopedic Surgeon, Houston & Dr. Richard Bloome & Fondren Orthopedics kept coming up via Google Search.Through my network of friends I found two that knew Dr. Bloome. With their help I was able to see him that day. When I met Dr. Bloome his professionalism put me at ease. When he said, You are having surgery tomorrow afternoon, this operation cannot wait. I felt a sense of relief wash over me.My surgury was a success, how I was treated before and after I can only compare to a 5 Star Hotel / Resort.When asked, what would you like for breakfast? I asked, anything? She replied If we cannot make it I will let you know. I ordered two breakfast tacos with scrambled eggs & with chicken breast & cheddar cheese, picante suace on the side, a fruit medley, a Cup of Coffee + 1 Cup of Nonfat or 2% Milk, and 3 Packs of Splenda. I woke up & saw that in front of me I took a picture to preserve the moment.From pre surgury evaluation, to post surgery aftercare - starting with aquatic physical therapy, then as I progressed and made it out of the water to physical therapy - all at Fondren Orthopedic Hospital nothing could have been handled more professionally.Thank you Dr. Richard Bloome and all the great people at Fondren Orthopedics...

Dr. Bloome fused my left ankle in 2014 and did an amazing job. Ive had no problems whatsoever , so when my right ankle went south a couple years later , I had no doubt he would be the surgeon to perform any type of procedure if it became necessary. Unfortunately it did become necessary but by then I was living in Pittsburgh, PA. Im sure there are very competent surgeons in Pennsylvania but I returned to Houston to have Dr. Bloome again perform this surgery. I wouldnt trust any other doctor to do it. The result was again, amazing ! Dr. Bloome has to be one of the best ankle specialist in Texas if not the country. I highly recommend.

Dr. Bloome is the most caring doctor, I had my foot surgery and the next morning my scooter tipped and I stepped on my non weight bearing foot….I am a panicker and I emailed Dr. Bloome and he responded about 1 hour later by email an assured me I should be ok,!! For him to take the time to respond so quickly means the world to a worry wart like me. I have complete trust in this man, and he cares about his patients; he called me the night of my surgery to see how I was!!! I will always recommend this Dr to anyone needing foot or ankle surgery

Dr David Bloome is the absolute best foot doctor I’ve ever been to!! He did a hind foot surgery on my foot and I’m very impressed with the overall surgery,and healing process...His staff member Crystal from the front desk is also amazing at what she does! My daughter had a very nice appointment with Dr. Bloome. All of the staff in his office are so nice, patient, and helpful. It is so easy to have everything you need under one roof - x-rays, casting room, etc. We highly recommend his practice.

He has great bed side manners. I had the hammertoe surgery twice on left foot. The surgery never did take. I feel that hammertoe is not his expertise, I was lead to feel it was. I had another surgeon from another practice take one look at it and correct the issue.

The staff was very courteous and efficient. It was busy and there was an emergency with another patient during our appointment, but the delay was understandable. Dr. Bloome took an active interest in my daughter’s issue and was very easy to talk to concerning his diagnosis.

Im in the medical field myself. Dr bloom is the best doctor in Houston nobody else could fix my foot he did it so well its better than the other. His bedside manner is fantastic staff was great he goes the extra mile to make you well. I recommend him highly.

Dr Bloome treated me for a serious break of my right ankle. Two metal plates and 12 screws later, it is completely functional. My walking is not impaired and I am pain free. The corollary to his treatment is the wonderful Texas Orthopedic Rehabilitation facility which taught me to walk again with confidence. This is the best doctor and facility you could hope for!

I seriously broke my ankle while vacationing in Mexico. I decided to return to Houston for my surgery and Dr. Bloome was highly recommended to me by a fellow orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Bloome replaced my ankle in May 2019. It had caused constant pain for about 25 years and finally was unbearable. My new ankle has been completely pain free since the surgery and I am finally able to walk comfortably.I was very nervous about the process but Dr. Bloome and his entire staff were excellent! I was thrilled to be referred to Dr. Bloome when I moved to the Houston area two years ago from the Bay Area of CA. At our first meeting, he was able to lay out options concerning my right ankle. In August of 2017 he replaced the ankle (just before Harvey!). He and his staff have been nothing but outstanding in their care and follow-up. I am grateful that he was able to do this considering it was a 45 year old injury and the site was badly damaged.

Dr. Bloom is great. He examined me and quickly gave a diagnosis. He had me fitted for a boot, and a night time device for my planters fasciitis. Good bedside manner.

His work on my foot left it numb in the ball of my foot. He ordered a leather insert for my shoe which solved nothing. As a result of this numbness I walk in a way that has caused my hip to be out of alignment and my back to curve resulting in lower back pain. A new development in my Second toe is redness and new pain on top of the foot.I admit I was frustrated enough with him that I stopped seeing him.. I do feel he should fix this problem . Had a great visit with Dr. Bloome. Everyone in the office was courteous, professional and appeared to o enjoy the work they do.

The office is busy, but well run and the staff work very hard to make the visit as smooth and easy as possible. Dr. Bloome is an exceptional physician who listens and takes the time to find out whats going on and do something about it. No unnecessary testing, pt on site, and get fitted for a brace all in the same place.

I went to see Dr. Bloome after having worked with another orthopedic doctor for several months. In all the time that I saw the other doctor I was still in pain, still limped and still had major swelling of my foot and ankle. I finally had enough and decided to see a foot and ankle specialist. I am so happy I did!!! Within 5 minutes of seeing me and listening to me he told me what he thought might be the problem. He scheduled me for an MRI (done on site) and within a week I had my answer. I had surgery 2 weeks later and I cannot tell you how happy I am to be able to ride a bike, take long walks and exercise...all things I was unable to do before Dr. Bloome repaired my foot and ankle. I am so grateful and recommend him without reservation!! He and his staff are professional, kind, and willing to go the extra mile. Their facilities are convenient and everything can be accomplished in one place - clinic, x-rays, MRI, surgery and physical therapy. He is the doctor to see if you are having foot or ankle issues!

My wife Ann had broken her ankle in seven places in 1984. Three surgeries were done by another doctor to repair her ankle & they lasted for 20 years. Over the years she was told by other doctors not to have an ankle replacement until the pain & swelling was unbearable. In 2015 she reached that point and consulted Dr. Bloome. He replaced her ankle and did a spectacular job, no more swelling or pain!! She had her 3 year follow up visit and her ankle is great now!

Dr Bloome was very well mannered and professional. He went over my X-ray with me and examined my foot and explained to me exactly why I was having pain. I will definitely use Dr. Bloome again if I have any issues with my feet in the future.

Dr. Bloome was the 5th surgeon that I consulted with- and the only one who gave me confidence that he could fix my ankle. He was the only one who saw a tear on my MRI, and during the surgery, he took extra care to locate & repair additional cartilage damage. Moreover, he has an EXCELLENT bedside manner and is patient to answer all of your questions. I would recommend him in the blink of an eye!!!

Excellent process. I felt like the doc took all the time necessary to talk with me about my issue.

I arrived 45 minutes early expecting to wait until my appointed time. As soon as I checked in I was called back within 10 minutes, x-rayed (as expected) and in the exam room ahead of schedule.An associate performed an initial exam, reviewed x-rays and explained options. This was followed by Dr. Bloome who provided additional details and further explained the options. At no point did I feel pushed to any treatment option but instead made my own decision.Personally, I liked Dr. Bloome’s relaxed attitude and professionalism.I opted for a conservative treatment plan so we’ll see how it works.

Dr Bloome did my bunionectomy and I had a great experience. The staff is just as great, they are very efficient and take care of business. Dr Bloome made sure I was well informed on my procedure as well as the recovery time. On the day of my surgery I felt very comfortable with the nurses and the anesthesiologist, they took extra steps to make sure I was as comfortable as possible and that made me feel confident before being operated on. After surgery was a breeze, Dr Bloome called my husband to check on me and see if he had any questions regarding my care. My checkup to remove stitches was quick and easy. My foot healed great and I haven’t had any pain after my recovery period. Running is so much more pleasant these days.

Dr. Bloome is an outstanding doctor who uses the latest research and technology for his patients. A failed foot surgery and bad advice from two orthopedic surgeons led me to believe I would have to live with chronic foot pain. I did not want to undergo a fusion on my large toe, which would have greatly inhibited my movement and hugely affected my life in a negative way. I’m so grateful I visited Dr. Bloome for yet another opinion. He explained the artificial joint replacement procedure, and one year after my successful surgery, I not only have virtually no pain, but I have complete movement and flexibility in my big toe. I am beyond satisfied. I highly recommend Dr. Bloome and his excellent staff.

The Dr. David Bloome office, Fondren Orthopedic Group, is a mess. I scheduled a surgery (morton neuroma), but no one could inform how much I was going to pay. They are very nice to schedule an appointment, but if you need any information, you are in trouble. I called several times to his office, but the only option was to leave a message to Monica. After more than 10 days leaving several messages finally someone called me and informed how much was the doctor expenses, but not the hospital and anesthetist costs. I said that I was going to cancel my surgery and reschedule it only after they inform all my expenses . They said if I cancel my surgery, they could not give me any information.Then I canceled it!! Now I want my X ray result and again... only leave messages. It looks impossible talk to a real person in just a few calls. Only if you want to schedule an appointment. Thanks God I canceled it. If I had no support just for basic information before my surgery, what can I expect if I really need support after the surgery? Good communication and good customer service is basic for any business, mainly in health. We have the right to know upfront how much we will need to spend out of the pocket, so we can plan ahead and check if we can afford it.
