After hip surgery I could not move my affected leg and needed therapy and assistance with everyday things. I was transferred to Encompass Heath Rehab Hospital. I was very worried about the care I would receive. After reviewing many other rehab center I noticed many of them had very bad reviews and Encompass reviews were good but, it was a newer facility. I can honestly say after arriving all my anxiety started to go away. I was treated with kindness, compassion and understanding. Although therapy is very difficult and painful at times, they were always so understanding and tried to minimize my pain as much as possible. I never expected a cakewalk I’m here to get better and that takes work. I can honestly say after being here for two weeks that this is the facility other rehabs should model after. My hats off to the hiring manager. He did an excellent job with everyone here he hired. It seems like a big family that includes the patient. Everyone here is on top of all your needs and if there’s something you need they courage you to just push your nurse button or inform your therapist while in therapy. Because of Encompass and all the wonderful people here I will be leaving here in a couple more days walking out the door I arrived by an ambulance through. I will still require a walker and will for sometime because hip surgery is major but, I’m well on my way back to a normal life. Thank you Encompass and all your crew (family).

I can’t thank the staff enough for their encouragement and training to get me back on my feet after hip replacement. As an RN I’ve met and worked with many physicians during my career but none can top Dr. LaChina and his associate Dr. Huyhn. They are kind, caring and compassionate and Dr. H spending extra time with me to discuss our so called war stories of medicine and nursing made me feel like I had purpose again. Thank you all including the fine therapists, nurses and aides.

On May 14, 2020 our lives changed forever. We had come from every families nightmare. On May 2, 2020 My husband Victor suffered a hemmoraphic stroke. We were in Memorial Hermann Southwest. On May 12, 2020 Dr Bauer a rehabilitation Doctor after just meeting Victor for 5 minutes determined he needed more time before going into an acute rehabilitation so she referred us to a skilled nursing facility. On the second day there Victor demanded I get him out if there. I had a friend that day refer me to Encompass rehabilitation hospital in Cypress. I called there and I spoke to Lauren and she advised me they had a center in Katy but I told her I was referred to Cypress and that is where I wanted to go. Somehow I got in touch with Any at the Cypress location and she advised me I needed to get insurance approval and I told her I already had the approval. Finally at 8pm Victor was transferred and I got a call from him he was so elated Victor said he had a towel folded like we always got when we went to 5 star hotels and this room was night and day.The staff was so helpful and supportive and when had just arrived. Wonder what the remainder of his stay would be like. The next day arrived and he went to eat and the food was hit and very good. Next came the therapy. He met a physical therapist by the nickname of Macy and his life would be forever in her debt. From the moment they met she challenged his every movement. He also met Adriana his occupational therapist. Both of them worked as a team to get him back to normal. His doctor was Dr Lachina and Victor didn’t think he had much faith in him recovering. Which was a challenge for him to prove he would make it. The main problem Victor had in the beginning was misinformation from Memorial Hermann Southwest. Encompass tested Victor on all his skills and according to the physical and occupational testing he rated a ZERO on all skills. Everyday for three hours a day he had therapy. I was not allowed to visit because of COVID-19. On Friday I was informed that beginning on Tuesday they would start allowing visitors which was a blessing in disguise. I was allowed to visit from 8-3 but no in and out and had to stay in his room whole time Victor showed immediate improvements. Macy’s favorite sayin to Victor was STAND TALL There was no slacking with this therapist. She worked on his mobility and taught him how to walk and stand tall . Adriana Worked on his cognitive skills Then he had Doctor Lachina watching his every move in the gym when Victor wasn’t watching and last but not least he had wifey helping him workout after the workout. Victor wasn’t getting a break from anyone especially Macy. Victor set a goal when he hit there he would walk out on his own. All the staff was cheering him in you had the charge nurses Mike and Tabitha that took time with him checking in on him. Then the was Robert who one day when Victor was having a sad day and accidentally hit the call button and Robert came in and took about an hour talking to Victor and told him how proud the whole staff was watching him and the difference was mind blowing. And gave such words of encouragement. Hard to believe that everyone had their eyes on Victor. Victor was different and the staff picked up on that. Everyday Macy and Adriana worked him hard, if he wanted to Walk out on his owN there was a lot of work he needed to do. We thought we would have a couple of months but about 1 1/2 weeks into it we found out we only got 24 days to walk m. That meant step it up and work harder. We were told about another Neurorehabilitation center he could go to after this one that did Therapy for 6-8 hours a day and normally that was the next step. So we met with them and set up fir us to go there next.It seemed like every three or four days Victor would get tingling on his leg and arm, which was telling us his nerves were reconnecting. Dr Lachina, Macy and Adriana were seeing his results. The second week he could now do about half of the thing he had rated zero on.. to be continued

CONTINUED.......One of the great things about this hospital was everyone works together. When they were in therapy and the therapist saw another patient they need help they would jump in and help. Macy and Adrian were the best and as Macy would repeat over and over STAND TALL no bending over and trying to walk. We had set everything to go to Moody Neurorehabilitation institute because at two and a half weeks it appeared we would need the additional therapy so we are nearing the end of our stay there and Victor was pleading for one more week. This is Tuesday and we were slated to leave on Friday. Victor was heartbroken to find out he wasnt going to get an additional week. He was determined. He found Doctor Lachina and he negotiated for him to get one more week and he would walk out. Doctor Lachina advised him he would talk with CEO Sheila Dr Lachina told Victor he would do all he could and he told Victor he got him extended another week. On Wednesday Macy said lets get going. She made him go to the side of the bed and said lets go you need to walk . He went to hang on to the rails she said no you need to walk without holding on. She also said this is the only way you are Hibbs to walk out next week. Victor walked all the way around the bed three times. HE DID IT. There was no stopping him now he could walk. Doctor Lachina and the CEO Sheila made all the difference in the world . To this day I am not sure if they know the gratitude Victor has for them and the difference they made in his life. JUST ONE MORE WEEK!!! The staff Mike , Robert, Tabitha, the pregnant room attendant with her beautiful smile and positive outlook, Dr Lachina, Sheila, MACY, Adriana All the staff Victor came in touch with but cant remember their names. I am eternally grateful for and for you teaching Victor tenacity and that He can do it. If there were ten star rating you would get it from me and Victor. You know what it is about and you are there to make it happen if the patient wants it to happen

Staff is not suppose to expose patients to any risk nor harm. ONE of the staff members was unprofessional during the stay my brother was here. She failed to adequately care for the my brother. She did not meet the minimum standards set forward by the Texas Board or Nursing. Staff needs to retrain on how to properly deescalate any situation. Everyone else did a great job and our family is very grateful for it.

So unprofessional! They would make us lie about the patients health/well being status so their insurance can pay for a longer stay.. have us chart on patients and lie about everything on itSome patients wouldn’t eat cause they forgot to deliver and tell the patient they couldn’t do much about it cause the kitchen opens for 1 hour a day

This is the WORST rehab Facility we have ever experienced. They are not setup to care for the elderly. They left my Dad on the toilet for 1/2 hour and kept them in wheelchairs out front in the reception area with no one to attend to them. My Dad got so sick there we had to readmit him to the hospital into the ICU unit. Our call to the director has yet to be returned. Shame on you guys.
