A lot of good happens here

I would never bring my children here. I live in the townhomes across the street and everyday my kids play in the field directly in front of this center. Everyday there are 10-15 children running freely across the street, to the church next door, disappearing for 20-30 minutes at a time and not one volunteer notices. Some of these kids are as young as 5 years old, which I know because one of the kids who regularly disappears is in my nieces Kindergarten class. I would be terrified to put my child’s life in these peoples hands. People have gone missing in this area lately and I can’t believe how unsafe this organization is when it comes to caring for children.

I see lot of daycare reviews but nothing about the other programs. We saw a sign advertising an art exhibit until 7 pm. They decided to close early right around 5. We were almost run over by several rude volunteers immersed in their own egoist attitude. Whoever donates or gives grants need to re-evaluate. It looks like volunteers get benefits and not the public. Outreach? Really. Not much of that going except marketing. Wasted donation. Never again

I love it here. My 3 boys has been into this community every since I moved into this area. Family Point has an awesome library and many great programs to offer the future youth. There amenities are up to date and the volunteers there are knowledgeable and very passionate about the youth and surely the community.

Horrible Horrible Horrible! This was my 3rd attempt at this location to try to find out what they offered but I have never come across any adults until today. The poor woman working the front desk was swamped and appeared overwhelmed trying to hand out food for so many children just by herself (there appeared to be no order). My son and his best friend was playing Cowboys and Aliens before we came to the location and my son still had his bright orange plastic dollar store cowboy gun. Many children ran upon us as we approached as they all seemed unsupervised. After standing idly for a while I asked the overwhelmed lady at the front desk about the program. She was the only adult that I saw. The overwhelmed woman at the front desk called for someone to come to the front to tell me about their program. We waited in the lobby and felt overwhelmed as well because there were so many kids roaming around us and there appeared to be no structure or adult supervision other than the woman trying to serve food. A young man walks out and taps my son and taps his gun and says you are not allowed to have that here! My son looked up and was caught off guard at a stranger touching him and addressing him. He did not have on anything that identified him as a worker and was in plain athletic wear. I asked the young man not to address my son and to speak to me. But he continued to make an issue of the toy gun that was not being used but in my son’s hand. At this point I turned to walk away. The frustrated lady said she is the one waiting on you to tell her about our program. I thanked them and said that I was not interested because I did not feel comfortable with how he chose to engage us. They both immediately became angry and she began yelling at me from the bar in front of all the kids including my own and his friend. I explained that I didn’t like the way that he was engaging my son even though I asked him not too. I told my son and his friend to come with me and we left but the same young man continued and followed us out the door with his ranting. I try to ignore him and continue on but then my son told him that he sucked! I made him apologize to the man even though he was following us and carrying on. I explained to him that my son is on the spectrum and has sensory issues and that is why I didn’t want him addressing my child. When my son apologized to him for telling the truth. He then threatened him by saying, yeah you want to fix your attitude if you ever want to play any kind of sports because I am well known throughout Spring Branch and all I have to do is make 1 phone call and you won’t ever be able to play any sports in this district. I fail to see how this man is in charge of watching or caring for anyone’s child/dren when he would so blatantly threaten a special needs 8-year-old child. I was proud of my son for apologizing sincerely but the man’s threat was a slap in his face. The man then continued to taunt me as I tried to walk away again. I made it clear that I was not comfortable with the way that he engaged us and tried to leave the facility but he continued taunting us. A female showed up in plain clothes and nothing to identify her as a staff person in charge of the 150 kids that were running around freely that appeared to have no supervision. She too was angered over the bright orange cowboy gun. My son best friend was now holding it and she began hitting the gun aggressively while he was holding it saying you can’t have this here! At this point we are in the parking lot where they have followed us. I asked for their names which they didn’t give me and their supervisor. At 3rd gentleman showed up and proclaimed quite lively to be the Director and CEO of the organization, he too was aggressive. I am outraged that something so simple as seeking information on an organization turned into a cocky man ego tripping on an 8 year old special needs child and then denying his threats in front of his co-workers. 3 employees for 150 children…smh

They offer different activities that contribute to the development of the community, in the growth of a healthy and productive youth. There are also support groups for people with different types of addiction, English courses, library and sports. Come closer and ask for what you need. They are really friendly and always willing to help.
