Star of Texas you did it again... Thank you so much for the wonderful care you gave to Mrs. J. Hogan. Your team was so compassionate and caring. We were not expecting Mrs. J. Hogan to transition so quickly. Keep doing what you do best... caring for those who need you the most.

Volunteering with Star of Texas I noticed Chaplains, social workers, nurses and Admin tear up thinking about patients that passed and celebrate when patients meet their plan expectations,. When patients light up at the sight of the aides and nurses, it is evident that thisplace is unlike any other.Compassion has a synonym and its Star of Texas Hospice.

My mom is waiting in the driveway inside EMS vehicle as I write this review. No equipment has been delivered. Do not use Star of Texas they are not compassionate to my dying mothers needs. Alex the rep that signed me up with the services does not have the decency to answer his phone and neither does the driver delivering her equipment. Update: It has been one hour and still no equipment. Now there are saying it will be at least another 30 minutes. Totally unacceptable.

Star of Texas Hospice... I am taking the time to say Thank You for the professional care you gave to Optimum Personal Cares resident Mrs. V. Jackson. Although she was with us for a short-time your staff was amazing. The family was so pleased you approved her to have continuous care and she did not transition alone. Mr. K. Jackson spoke very highly of Gina and Sonya. These two ladies are true Angels. Gina and Sonya work very well with OPC staff in providing the best care the patient/resident deserves.Continue to push the envelop in defining quality care. The palliative care program you have instituted at Optimum Personal Care has taken our assisted living company to a new level. Lets continue to work together in providing the best care possible. You are always there for us when we need you the most....Gods Blessings

Dear Gina and Ruby,First of all, Thank You for your reviews. I’ve had the opportunity to speak with Ruby and listened to the details of her/your experience with Star of Texas. We started Star of Texas with the intent of sharing our love and dedication of Hospice with our community. We are both Hospice Nurses with a commitment to making a positive Impact in end of life care. As we’ve grown and hired nurses with hospice experience, we educated them on our Agency’s expectations; not taking for granted that they already possess what it takes to be an Amazing Star of Texas Hospice Nurse. Some of these qualities include: compassion, respect, empathy, dedication, sympathy, understanding, listening, and most of all “We do not get a second chance” we have to be great right now, today! Tomorrow is too late. We’ve learned that even though they assured us they possessed these qualities, some did not.As a result of your post, we have made changes in our staff; we have also revamped our processes to include satisfaction survey calls to patient/families, we’ve improved our process around communication, developed a Hospice 101 educational PowerPoint, additionally, as owners we are randomly riding along with staff to visit patients and getting patient/family feedback regarding our services.Again, Thank You both, Ruby and Gina for being advocates. Apologetically and regretfully, we were not Great, for your Beautiful Friend and Daughter.

Mom is under Pallative Care at her Assisted Living Community, and Star of Texas has been absolutely amazing in making sure Mom is healthy and happy. Visits from her Social Worker, Celeste, Rev. Trudy Whitaker Huff, and all the nursing staff have brought her joy and contact with the outside world. I have been sent pictures of her and even a video from the staff; they call after each visit with an update, of how Mom is doing physically, mentally and emotionally and have answered every question I had in a kind, professional way. Because of Covid, Moms community has been strictly quarantined for many months; it is so very comforting to know she continues to receive fabulous care from Star of Texas and her Asst. Living community. I highly recommend Star of Texas Hospice.

Worst experience! The staff did not communicate, were unkind and treated their job as if it was a chore. The treatment my friend received was nothing short of unacceptable. Equipment was brought broken, nothing was explained and just thrown in a room for the family to figure out. Calls to on call nurses were made and instead of explaining and guiding us through what needed to be done we were simply told it was her “progression”. The staff was rude and refused care such as bed baths and diaper changing, stating “it wasn’t their job” when in fact, it was. The organization of the business was horrendous and no one was on the same page. I personally had to call and speak to multiple people to just receive one simple answer. This experience was shortly lived for just a week until we decided to switch and find another company who treated my friend with respect and love, something your company did not come close to giving. I would never recommend this company and would in fact advise anyone against it.

I normally do not write reviews but I wanted to acknowledge my personal experience with Star of Texas .When my husband was diagnosed with dementia my thought was that I would keep him at home as it was something I could handle...... unfortunately that wasnt the case. As his dementia got worse ,his needs of course got greater and I found it increasingly harder to mange everything on my own. A friend had told about pallative care and her experience with Star of Texas. That was the best phone call I made. I was given an incredible team of people to help me get through these difficult times. Everyone of them deserves a star in heaven.... from Celeste, my social worker to Ayo,his nurse and Lacy , his home health aide .My husband has only been treated with dignity, compassion ,respect and patience.Ayo comes in with a smile every.time she sees him and Lacy is so patient and understanding .and makes him feel like there is nothing wrong with him.. I cant say enough about these women ,my angels.

My familys experience with Star of Texas Hospice was excellent. My grandmother has dementia and needs full care, assists, and attention. When we started services she was in a care facility and was NOT being given proper care by the staff at that facility. I truly believe only way she survived the experience was due to the attention, professionalism, and kindness she received from her Hospice Aid Lacy Jarmon and her hospice Nurse, Farheen Bakht. They both continued to care for her when she moved into my Aunts home, getting her weight back up and tending to residual medical issues caused by the negligence she encountered at the facility.Farheen was always available for questions and followed up with our family so that we understood the meds and responded quickly and professionally to all concerns. Lacy was INCREDIBLE in her calm demeanor, professionalism, and dedication to care. My grandmothers mood was not always good (due to her dementia confusion) but Lacy always saw the woman underneath the condition. She played games with her, bathed her thoroughly, and assisted with all manner of needs. My grandmother now lives with me and has graduated off of Hospice entirely. This review doesnt even come close to stating how eternally grateful I am to these women. They have helped my grandma to continue her full life with dignity.

Terrible experience. We wasted so much precious time. There was no comunication, compassion, and my daughter was treated terrible. What we were told at the initial visit, was not the service we recieved. A wonderful crisis care nurse told us about Brookdale Hospice, and they were just a God send. Brought us better equipment, sent us an angel of a nurse who explained every machine, took extra time to just sit and talk to my daughter, even hugged her and treated her with love and respect. If you need good, reliable, caring hospice service, please do not use this company.
